Well so far the best setup I can get is to use the latest intel driver(11/7/2009, 15.16.2.64.1986) for 64bit win7 and the beta 1 flash 10.1(thanx for the link methcat :D ). That gets me pretty good performance. When I tried the 1986 driver with beta 2 I got an occasional messed up display upon wake from sleep(I saw a post with a screen cap that was exactly what I was getting).
The only thing that's weird/different about the beta's is that now when I select the 1080 versions it pauses the playback until the entire clip is buffered, no biggie but I hate to wait

Please read: This is needed for cleanup when changing versions of flash: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

Thanks for the link but it doesn't work, the "..." in the middle seems to have broken it. Can you post the full, un-cropped link?

As of yesterday, all 3 Fry's in Houston had the 1410-2801 (blue) model in stock. I wanted the 2285 (black), but had to settle for the 2801. I am really enjoying it.

if you go to the normal adobe site and copy their links, you just replace p2 with p1 and change the month from 12 to 11... there is a different one for each depending on if you want the pluggin, etc.

also, you can try clicking it in my original post, not someone's quote...

New video drivers? Hopefully it'll work. I had problems with the 1986 drivers and my HDTV.

Also my silicone keyboard cover from ebay finally came in. Its really nice and it fits perfectly on the keyboard. I keep it on all the time now, even with the lid closed. I'll try posting pictures later.

If your looking for the SU2300 at Fry's, don't use the web site 349.99/black one - look for the blue one They don't carry the blacks in the store (and the associates rips the web site when you ask them about it..)

Also, they didn't have the SU2300 out on display, you had to ask for them to lookup - use the sku # 6059408

No joy with the new driver, went back to the 1892 version.
The new(2021)& the 1986 drivers cause the horizonal "banding" every few wakeups :(

    Interesting, i've seen these two:

    * Built-in display shows slight horizontal stripes when logging on or restarting the laptop.
    * Incorrect color setting on secondary monitor after upgrading driver.

I also saw some garbage pixels.

    glad they fixed it.

This is what I get too. Thinking about what you said I think my issue is linked to plugging/unplugging while it sleeps, is that, uh....common in laptops? I can build a desktop blindfolded but am kinda new to the portables.
I also have only tried the Intel drivers, not the acer ones, ya think acers may cure this issue? Thanx to all.

    Yep, lookin' that way :twitchy:
I'm tryin' the cough "latest" Acer driver and so far I can't make it mess up :D The only Intel driver that didn't cause the issue was the 1892 vers. Acers is 1840, shows that newer ain't always better.......I know, I know :nah:

what a relief, i was experiencing the same lines and was concerned it might be a hardware problem or something... is there any harm in waiting a few days to roll back the drivers? its not ruining anything on my computer is it?

I don't use sleep. I use hibernation. I will test it now.

Update: no problems, no bugs. I'm happy with the updated driver. I can understand others are not.

Regarding charging devices through USB during sleep mode:

Is this possible on the 1410?

Both my Acer Aspire One and my Samsung N120 could do this.. yet I don't see a BIOS option on the 1410?

There are also some Toshiba models that unlock that ability from a desktop utility instead of the bios.

My apologies if this has been discussed; I have fruitlessly searched for it.

(I aim to charge an iPhone if that matters, it can be placed in USB storage mode though)

forgot to mention: I'm on a HP DM1 and external display. I used to own the 1810tz but not anymore.

Yep I get this problem (1810tz, latest intel drivers). Going to stick with the drivers and just remember not to plug it in while sleeping, think that's the easiest option!

Well I guess it come down to interpretation. In my(and others) case if you look close at the lines they are vertical columns made of horizontal stripes, if that makes sense.
And so far so good with Acers last driver(1840), I have tried every mix I can of sleep & hibernate, plugging & unplugging when hibernated,in sleep, powered on, and I just can't recreate the lines/distortion on the display. Not that I'm complaining. FWIW, could it come down to a difference in the 64 vs. 32bit drivers?

Looks great, but I'm a tightwad and just trimmed the original covering to 1/4" from the edge. Not "full" protection but it stays put(unless you intentionally peel it with a fingernail),and I feel better about "handling" it so putting the $30 towards 4gb ram is $ better spent.

I am wandering if Aspire 1810T is able to play multichannel (5.1) sound through HDMI (or SPDIF, but I prefer HDMI).
I am looking for small notebook which I can use beside other as HTPC for FullHD movies with multichannel sound ...

Does anyone have any experience with this?

The 1810T should have optical spdif built in the headphone plug. If you look in the socket you can see a small electrical device that could be an LED.

In the devicemanager there is a device for HDMI sound output. I did not tried both!

I'm also interested in using this notebook as HTPC. Will this output highdef audio codecs in surround sound? DTS MA True HD ect...?
I just picked up a used core duo 1410 version with the SU2300 processor off of ebay. It's coming equipped with a Western Digital Scorpio 640GB harddrive. Is this a good hardrive? The 2 gigs of memory it comes with will be fine for now I guess until memory prices come down a bit more.

Well I can't comment on the sound(nothing to connect it to), that is the HD I put in mine and although there are some slightly faster but smaller drives I prefer the capacity and it's currently the biggest you can get in the 9.5mm form. And I caught it for $89 black fri.

Any place we can order replacement touchpad buttons for the 1410's? I sold my Z in prep for the new Z so i've been using my GF's 1410 all weekend, and the mushy left mouse button is driving me crazy!

I kinda been wondering why the 1410/su2300's have been evaporating, if this is the first of the "new" line it seems that they found a way to inch the price up with little cost to Acer. I doubt they pay more than a couple bucks more for a 250 over the cost of a 160gb drive.

    PLEASE HELP

Does anyone have an iPod Touch working properly with their 1810TZ?

    Thanks.

Because I'm going nuts trying to get it working. iTunes just won't recognize it. I tried tons of things, and no go. My old netbook (Asus 1000H) with XP works perfectly with it, so right now I have to use that to sync my iPod Touch - very inconveninet because the Acer is my main PC now.

do you download podcasts from the ipod touch? for some bizarre reason, i found i cant sync if there are podcasts on my phone that were downloaded with my phone... if i delete them before syncing, it works fine... really annoying

You could try an alternative iPod manager. iTunes is a resource hog anyway.

I like Yamipod, but I have not tried it with 1810tz.

I've been thinking about buying one of these little beauties the last few week, however, in the UK PCWorld have been selling them as a clearance item and now they have totally disappeared off their website.

Does anyone know what's happening in the UK, I'm sort of guessing/hoping will there be a newer 1810tz with a different processor? From the SU4100 to a SU7300 or even SU9400?
