Its frustrating me to the tenth degree....and still no heat. Can u pm me the answer to this one?

If you are envious of Les, and must have an AS1810T-6188 with an SU9400 processor,
4/400GB and Bluetooth, a Canadian company, CenDirect.com will mail
to the USA and possibly other countries for $741 plus $60 shipping.

    $801 Canadian = $755 US.

    Link to listing.
Add to cart. See shipping options on check-out page.

    Other Canadian sources.

Thanks for that! That's actually not bad considering it would be around $750 if I got a similiar system here in the states, or a Lenovo U150 would be $750 + tax and shipping (minus any coupons). :)

Not bad, but these machines lose a lot of their appeal at 750$.They were very charming at 399$(SU2300)and 550$(su4100).At 750$ somebody has the right to demand a better graphics card in todays market, and certainly wait for the arrandale proccesors to became mainstream in notebooks.

Agree with that as well.... I just wasn't impressed with the new Alienware whatsoever...

Cendirect also does pricematching and its current price is $741 which is cheaper so...

Use this link for a pricematch opportunity and u may come under 7 bills US:

I`ve been having the SU3500 for 3 months now and still very happy with this purchase. Fits perfectly with my needs. SU2300 is very appealing, but wasn`t released at that moment. I can play 720p movies, flawless; music, browsing and some office is all I do. It`s a great little machine.

Really? I've been agonizing over whether to just get an SU2300 or SU4100 actually, considering the SU7300 version is so much more expensive.

    Hi,
I have the same problem with my Acer 1810T which I recently bought. I took the first one back to the store because I thought it was defective. The second one has the same problem with the touch pad and I will take it back to the store also.

I updated the bios and drivers and still at times when moving the pointer around using the touchpad, the screen will randomly resize, scroll or the pointer will not move at all or move really slow or jump around the screen. An external USB mouse has no problem at all. The touchpad problem is intermittent and something must be triggering it because it works great when this problem is not there. At times just initially touching the pad with one finger after leaving it idle for a few minutes will trigger the problem too.

I tried removing the tap function and others and still the same problem exists.

It's a shame I have to take it back because it's a great little computer.

I have the same problem with my 1810T touchpad and will be returning it to the store for the second time... I thought it was a fluke defect with the touchpad the first time, but 2 in a row with the same problem now.

I've tried a variety of Synaptics drivers and uninstalling the drivers, but it makes no difference.

I just tried sending it back to Newegg and they said that all they will go is send it back to Acer for repair. What is the quickest and most effective way to get this thing fixed?

    Try this..

Go to Mouse in Control Panel
    Pick the Device Settings tab
    Click on Settings
Go thru and disable almost everything.
    Reboot.

If your touchpad is OK now, start enabling
functions slowly to identify the problem.
Pay special attention to the "Sensitivity" setting.

Or alternatively, just uninstall the Synaptics mouse drivers.
You Acer will run fine with the built-in Win 7 drivers,
unless the touchpad itself is problematic.

(err.. just noticed one of you already tried running without the Snyaptics)

I tried disabling and tweaking all of the advanced settings in the original drivers, the drivers on Acer's site and the latest drivers on Synaptics site. I also uninstalled the drivers completely and the problem remains. The problem also occurs in safe mode.

I have the 1410 with the SU2300, and I am having problems with it randomly shutting down during times of heavy usage (i.e. watching a video, playing a game, or large file transfers). This is with it sitting on a desk, and plugged in. What is causing this? Is this a known issue or has anyone else had this problem?

Any help is much appreciated! This is becoming rather frustrating.

what kind of cpu temperatures do you have, you can use the program below to find out.

Also if you have vista or Win7 you can test the memory, by just typing memory into the search box, bottom left of screen, the notebook will re-boot and the memory test will be carried out.

Could be a screen saver/power saver feature. Check that neither are tuned to turning off the computer. Many programs fail to tell the computer that the computer is actually in use.

I have a 1410 2300 and have yet to have this issue.

Here is a quick snip of my 1810TZ so you will have some idea of what is a normal operating temperature.
Rarely gets warmer unless I block air flow by running it on my lap, etc.

I've had my 1810T for about 60 days, and it has just started crashing at random while on battery. I had been running x64 Windows 7 Ultimate. Screen locks up on a random color and that's it. Hard reset is all that can be done to recover.

I've already sent it back to Acer for repair, and received it back this week. Exact same problem still occurs. So much for their tech support being able to actually diagnose and fix a problem. I'm a business traveler and I cannot afford to be without my computer for ANOTHER 2 weeks while try and fix this same problem AGAIN.

In the mean time I might just order one of the Asus 1201N's and once this POS Acer gets fixed, put it on ebay and be rid of it. So far I've had 2 Acer Timeline machines, the 1810T and the 3810TZ. The 3810TZ had a hard drive failure a week after I received it, and now the 1810T has failed after 2 months. This is pretty pathetic product for what I thought to be a reputable company.

Wow that is a string of bad luck....and the only similar type of occurrence so you seem to be the extreme minority with the 1810. Add the other in and, well...I'de buy a lottery ticket.

Hope you get it all sorted out. I sold my XS 1340 for this system and wouldn't trade back for the world. The ONLY advantage the XPS had that I miss was the illuminated keyboard. I move around alot with my system and its nice having this size and power available at such a price.

I really hope this is the case. I loved it for the first 2 months I had it. There really isn't any high end netbook that comes close to the 1810T. I'm just so frustrated with it.

What are you doing when this occurs? I've had freezes like this when I have high internet use over wireless (multiple downloads, torrents); abeit I don't own a 1810t. It was fixed when I switched WiFi drivers, it may also have to do with window's power management setting 'Wireless Adapter Settings'->'Power Saving Mode'.

It happens randomly, but much more frequent while not plugged in (on battery). I don't have to be doing anything, if its just sitting there it'll happen. Sometimes it would take 5 minutes, sometimes an hour. Fresh out of the box with default OS installation.

No software at all, other than a fresh windows 7 install. It also does it with the system restored to factory "out of box" shape.

Anyone able to find any good deals on the 1410? (SU2300, black model) The best I can find is $449 on eBay with 10% bing cashback.

Just wanted to check before pulling the trigger. Also, should I be aware of anything new coming out within the next month?

I had been considering the 1201n, and the Mini311, but thankfully found this thread, and threads like it which quickly broke down the apparent difference between the newest Atom based netbooks (Pine Trail, w/Ion) vs. the CULV offerings. From what I've read, it seems I would be better off going with an Acer model over the Ion offerings, as I would prefer multitasking CPU power to gaming (I have an E8400 @3.6, 4GB 1066, and 1GB 4870 for that). Another thing to consider is where I'm coming from with my current laptop (D610, 2GB, intel9XX graphics, Centrino 2.0GHZ). I am looking to step up to something more portable, light weight, and with better battery life than my current D610. As of now, I only use it as a bed-side computer to surf, email, and watch regular youtube vids in bed. I've pretty much narrowed it down to between the 1410 w/ su2300, and the 1810t. The only consideration now seems to be the pricing. The 1810 seems inticing, with it's longer battery life, and slightly faster CPU, but the only place I can currently find them is on Amazon, for $600+. I couldn't find the 1810 on Newegg AT ALL, which is quite surprising. Also kind of bummed out I missed the 160GB 1410's that were selling for $399. I can grab the 1410 off Newegg now w/ su2300 for $454 shipped. The only issue remaining I can think of is the price difference between the 2 models. If I could still get the 1410 for $399, and the 1810 still over $600, then it would be a no brainer for the 1410. This may have been answered before, but I guess my question is that knowing the laptop specs I'm coming from, would the performance and battery life increase of the 1810 be worth a look over the 1410, IF the price margin between the two can be reeled in to about $100 difference? Also, are there any major updates to this line that would make me want to wait up to a few months for an updated model/processor? Thanks

    I have a AS1410 with SU2300 and just ran into a problem.

I can't extend my screen to another monitor via HDMI. I've done it before but it doesn't work now. On the monitor (actually my buddy's 50" plasma), I see a very blurry, crappy, pixellated version of my desktop.

I just went through and did the Intel driver update utility and it says everything is current. Any thoughts?

Now, it's good to see ANY 1810-series model in stock anywhere but wasn't this thing $549.99 back at launch (late Oct-early Nov)? IIRC, list price for the TZ is $549.99 and the 1810T is $50 more at $599.99. Sucks to see so much price gouging going on 3-4 months after release. Sorta like how I considered buying an Intel SSD prior to Christmas but am now finding prices higher and most places out of stock.

I'd love to see Acer keep their 11.6" models at consistent price points--say, the entry level model at $400, a step-up dual core model at $450, then one or two models covering the $500-$550 pricepoints. I think when you hit $600+ (like the current 1810T), there is a greater range of competing offerings from other manufacturers.

I have a question regarding 1410's video system. As I understand up to 732 MB can be used by Inteil GMA 4500MHD however in the BIOS I see 64 MB and cannot change the number. What is the problem? Do I need to install additional RAM? Right now I use 2Gb of RAM. Thank you.

64 MB is the card's own memory(you cannot change that).Up to 1700MB is the cards shared memory with the system.Installing additional RAM won't do anything for the card.
