To install drivers with out exe's,
Right Click My Computer-> Properties -> Device Manager -> Right Click the device you want to install -> Update Driver -> Point it to the extracted zip file
-
-
-
It doesn't need to be pointed to a specific file, just point it to the folder and it'll figure it out (the right folder is probably vista64, it doesn't let you a pick folder without valid driver files, and then won't install if you didn't pick the right folder).
Although, it would be better to use Win7 Drivers but Vista64 drivers will probably work if you don't have an alternative. -

Last one might not be a permalink, so you may have to set up the comparison chart yourself -
cheers.. thanks aznguyphan....
however i couldnt find anything about the su9400 from the links you gave me...
is there any chart which compares the su7300 vs. su9400....????
thanks -
thanks fstop.....
but the figures are really confusing for me... i'm non technical person...
could you tell me the real world difference in a 1810T with a su7300 Vs. a 1810t with a su9400...?!?
thanks & Cheers ;-) -
Check out aznguyphan's link:
http://www.anandtech.com/mobile/showdoc.aspx?i=3735
Everything you're asking is all in there... I gave it a quick glance and found the exact info youre asking for. If you're going to ask questions, at least read people's answers before looking at the links and automatically deciding it's too complicated to read! We're already giving you the answers to your questions, plus more. The rest of the articles and charts are worth reading as well. We're not going to spoonfeed you everything. -
-
fstop, thanks for pointing it out... i'm more clear now.
thundernet, thanks for putting the same answer in simpler words. i've made up my mind for the SU7300
I have a few options with SU7300... Could anyone here guide me which one seems to be the best value....?!?
1. http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Timeline...Display/dp/tech-data/B002TEDANO/ref=de_a_smtd $689.99
2. http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-T...3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1268563735&sr=8-3 $679.99
3. http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-T...-6-Inch/dp/tech-data/B0031M9U6Y/ref=de_a_smtd $599.99
This one has reduced from $679.99 to $599.99. Is something fishy here...?!? Coz this one and the options 1 & 2 have same specs...
4. http://www.bestdirect.ca/products/222348/Acer/LX_PM402_001/ Cn $ 586.70/US $ 576
This (Olympic Edition) also has same specs as Options 1 & 2 but is priced canadian $ 586.70 = US $ 576. Are Laptops Cheaper in Canada than USA...?!?
They all seem to have the same specs... i'm throughly confused as to which one to buy out of these four options with SU7300...?!?
Thanks & Cheers... 1st race of Formula 1 2010 starts in 1 hour....!! ;-) -

Rana.....
You are making everything too difficult. The Olympic edition has add ons like 800mhz ram to match the system bus speed (vice 667), bluetooth in all systems, 64gb Version of Win7 and it has a totally different look and feel to its finish. I have handled all (blue, black and Olympic Silver) and the silver has a very glossy feel whereas the other feel like the paint might wear over time (sorry...just my opinion)
The best option u will find is as I stated...the $499 system with the Intel 80gb if you can live with on They will all have the Cdn keyboard in Canada This will literally blow away the more expensive versions by a landslide. Also, be careful, the Olympic scheme seems to be a refresh with the upgrades and therefore the number schemes are the same. For example, in the last link, it shows the Olympic but then details the 667Mhz ram and 32 bit OS.
If you are simply at the stage that you want to save taxes (if u r in On) now...you can price match here and its free shipping:
http://www.compu2000.com/index.php?l=search_list&s[search]=1810t&s[title]=Y&s[sku]=Y&s[match]=all&s[cid]=0
BUT...make sure they send you the Olympic Edition because it is cheaper and has all the upgrades. You will find that the first edition systems were actually under priced so they hiked their prices up yet the Olympic edition remained intact at the better price for the upgraded system.
I find your best option is Futureshop as they are cheapest and have them on hand in any case...
EDIT: I have the SU9400 and SU4100 in my home now. I had the SU7300 in my home as I bought and setup a system from Futureshop for a friend. You will never know the difference at all....unless of course you throw an ssd in. -
what drivers do I need to use to be able to run fullscreen 720p Hulu? I tried the other day HDMI out to my TV and it was dropping frames like mad.
I just did a fresh install of Win7Pro but haven't tried yet. Anything I need to do? all else is stock on my 1410-2990 -
hi les... i cant go for $499 with intel 80gb ssd as i need the extra space of the 320gb hdd.
How can i make sure i get the olympic editon with the 800 mhz ram and not the 667 mhz ram...???
Should i go to a future shop outlet in toronto or should i order it online...?? If online then which is the most reliable website in canada which will give me the "new edition" olympic edition with 800 mhz ram...??
Cheers... Alonso won the Bahrain GP...!!! -
I would simply get mine at Futureshop...That way if its not up to your standards, bring it back. Also they will price match any internet site in Canada in Cdn funds if you simply advise them of their written policy.
-
les... i really appreciate you being patient and working with me on this... I'm coming to toronto in a week.
How do i price match..??
Do i walk into store and then log on to a computer to the internet from their store and show them the same laptop for a cheaper price online & then they will give it to me for that price if it is lower than their store price...!! Is that how it works...??
would they allow me to go online from a computer in their store & show them a canadian website which is offering me the same laptop for cheaper..??
thanks pal... -
Yes. Have the exact website written down that you want to Pricematch from. I also had a copy of their Pricematch policy printed off just in case. You get the pricematch plus 10% of the difference.
Yes they will go to the site u send them to. -
2. I couldn't understand "You get the pricematch plus 10% of the difference."
so if their price is 599 and i show them a website with 549.....
then they will give it to me for 549 - (10% of 50 = 5) = 544...??? -
Yes and its posted on the website.
-
Ok so now I have a problem, I followed the instructions aznguyphan posted for me last night (who was very helpful btw) trying to update the realtek drivers and now everytime i restart the machine I get two "open file security warnings" windows, both for realtek one is the "ravcpl64.exe" and the other is for "skytel.exe"
I tried to run them both, nothing happens. I go to the file folder and run them from there and same thing occurs when I reboot. How can I remove these windows from appearing everytime the computer reboots? -
Go to Find.
Type in System Restore
Follow the dialog boxes.

I've noticed and answered some of your questions in other Acer and Asus threads here.
A few days ago you said you purchased an Acer 1410.
Are you looking for a replacement?
Best deal at the moment is an 1810T at buy.com for $599 minus 4% to 7% Bing cash back.
But then perhaps you are waiting for an i3 or i5 as mentoned in another thread.
Don't worry, we strive to provide good info and support for sincere folks here. -

To disable the security popups, either there is an option on the popup itself, or you can lower/disable Window's UAC settings, otherwise they'll just continue to happen just when you boot. -
hey les... cheers mate... i know what i wanna buy and where i wanna buy and how i wanna buy... so thanks to you and others who helped me...
hi yus,
i havent bought a 1410... nope...! but yes i have been trying to gather the best info i can about the lappy i wanna buy on different threads.. though today finally after les's help i've been able to pinpoint my exxact purchase decision...
i did wanna wait for the core i7 620/640 UM but i guess its really not worth the wait...
thanks to you too for your inputs and assistance...
NBR truly is a wonderful place to be...!!! ;-) -
All AS1810 batteries fit all AS1410 notebooks.
So you can buy any 4400mAh (6 hour) or 5600mAh (8 hour) battery.
But be aware.. if you search for "Acer 1410 battery", you will find many for a four year old 14" Acer Aspire with the same model number. So search for "Acer 1810 battery". -
Edit: I used cc cleaner to disable them upon startup, what were they? Will they lead to any problems with volume or sound? -
-
That's too bad, I love my SSD.

I think there might be something else going on with yours as you should have no issues doing what you describe.
-
Same here...cards always in...no prob.
-
i thought i was done.... but here goes....
which wireless card does the Canadian Olympic edition 1810T have...
1. WLAN: Intel® WiFi Link 1000 802.11b/g/n
or
2. WLAN: Intel® WiFi Link 5100 802.11a/b/g
Coz the product page on Acer Canada say both...
http://www.acer.ca/acer/productv.do...4&ctx1.att21k=1&CRC=505027361#wrAjaxHistory=2
However if it is the "WLAN: Intel® WiFi Link 1000 802.11b/g/n" then it means that i cant use it with a Dual Band Router on 5ghz as this card only works on single band 2.4ghz.

The "WLAN: Intel® WiFi Link 5100 802.11a/b/g" works on dual band 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz.

I'm looking to buy the model no. Acer "AS1810T-8968"
Can any owners confirm which wifi card is in the Acer "AS1810T-8968"..??
Les, i guess you have the Acer "AS1810T-6188". Which card you have in there? And is there any way to know which card is in the "AS1810T-8968"..?? -

I can easily pull the inserted SD card out without pushing-to-eject - I don't know if that's normal or not. The card and slot work fine together and it may not re-enumerate *every* time I touch it, but while using the machine last night the device was re-enumerated three times. It was annoying.

5100 but honestly, "Whats it matter?" It will still work fine on that router either way. Everything these days is backward compatible. -

-
EDIT: Sorry ml320, I confused you with the original SD issue poster. -

To provide more data points, I just tried a 2001 Toshiba Satellite, 2008 Dell Latitude and this Acer and they are all push-in to release, spring loaded type SD card slots. Based on our findings apparently Acer has 2 different available SD card slots for these units. I guess we got lucky with the spring loaded locking type in ours as it has no problems with unexpected disconnect as yours does.
-
-
To release you have to push it in again, it will once again click but then push back so that it ejects part way at which point you can remove it.
You mentioned in your earlier post that it sticks out further then in the picture. I suspect that is because it is not pushed in far enough to lock which would cause the issue you are having. -
But if you search UM09A75, almost all vendors list the various Acer AO751h 11.6" models
without mentioning the AS1410 or AS1810 11.6" models.
Could be wrong, but I doubt if these two distinct Acer models use the same battery,
because in the A0751h, the battery sticks out of the back of the unit.
In the 1410/1810 models, the battery is fully incorporated into the body and does not stick out.
Two very different designs.
Its the UM09E36 that fits the 1410/1810 models.

About the SD card slot.
Mine is spring loaded. The card needs to be pushed in to be removed. -
RoninTech,
Hi... you totally got my point there bro...!!! ;-)
I believe you have the "AS1810T-8968".
Thanks for confirming the "Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN" on it..!!!
Cheers mate... -
Can you do a clean install on a 1410 from an Acer recovery disk? Or, will it automatically load all of the crapware?
Bronsky -
I just purchased a us keyboard to replace my canadian one for my 1410 but for some reason some of the keys on the left side and right side don't work. I tried reseating the connection a bunch of times but it still doesn't work, are there some settings i have to change or did i get the wrong keyboard? I updated to the latest 1.3303 bios but that didn't change anything.
