Did you check??? Sometimes it doesn't pick up automatically and still registers as English BIL.

I would take it out...put the other in...make sure it works...change the keyboard in the control panel while its in...remove it...put in the new keyboard...reboot and check.

Maybe you got a bad keyboard or..yes you said you checked the ribbon..hope its not backwards eheh

Did you put the other back on??? Works fine??? If so, and you have tried manually changing the keyboard...it may be bad...

Or...another suggestion is install the keyboard, go to device settings and delete the driver for the keyboard and then refresh so it picks up the new driver from the internet or your system...maybe...

The original keyboard works fine, it really seems like a defective keyboard since sometimes i can't even boot into windows because it starts beeping when its loading. Think i'll contact the seller, but damnit i don't want to ship it back to china.

I have had a few from the US ask me this before and, to the best of my knowledge, it is not a US release. I know of two that ordered from Canada to be shipped back to the US.

If I plan on putting an SSD into the cpu does it matter what type of processor I have? I plan on getting the 1810TZ with the su4100 but I might spend the extra bucks for a su7300 if it makes a difference for the SSD... similarily, what if I put an SSD into a 1410 that's got a su2300? Excuse me, but I don't know anything about SSD drives (I hear a lot of words like "raid 0" etc, no clue what thats about!).

On Tigerdirect (lowest price I can find 1810t and tz) the only differences I see is the packaged OS system, ram, and processor from the 1410. Isn't the 1810 series suppose to have other upgrades like blue tooth?

Is there a way to safely Over Clock the SU7300 to 33% more in the Acer 1810T like the way Asus have done in their "VT" laptops...???

I am so set & ready to buy the Acer 1810T....!!! with SU7300

But i have this creepy feeling in my heart that within 2 weeks of buying this, Acer will launch the 1810T with the Core i5 um or i7 620/640um...!!!

This is very confusing for me coz i have no clue what i should do here. If the Arrandale Core i5um or i7um were 6 months months away then i would have bought now but its just the fact that these new CPU are so close to launch that it makes it very hard to buy 1810T with a SU7300 at this point in time...

On top of that there is no update or news from acer about the updates to the 1810T...!!!

    Man.. i'm so confused.....

    1. What do you guys think i should do....?

    2. Do you all feel that the update to the 1810T with the Core i5um or Core i7um is imminent....??? Is it just around the corner...???

    3. Anyone in the same situation as me...??? What do you intend on doing...??

    4. And Most important question... Will it be WORTH the WAIT...???

    Thanks.

If you keep on waiting for the next model, then you'll never get the laptop you want. Do you really need the Core i5/i7 processors to do what you need to do? I surf, watch 720p/1080p movies, and word process. All which any processor can do (yes, even the atom) so it really boils down to what you want to get done. The bottleneck with the timelines are not the CPUs but the GPUs which is limited imo.

I just placed an order for the 1810T with the SU9400 processor with the olympic logo. There's always going to be newer, more powerful processors. If you do not utilize any CPU-intensive programs or even plan to, why would you get the i5/i7. Even when they come out, the older timelines will drop price even lower making them more of a value buy than the newer ones.

That's a good question. I've read where people have over clocked the su7300 to 1.73 from 1.3, but they didn't go into detail on how they did it.

Anyone have the answer or a link?

New models are expected to be announced in the last week of this month, including the 1830T, the successor to the 1810T.

There's already a page for it on the Acer website:
    Acer 1830T product page
    Macles leak page

    Major upgrades from the 1810T:
    - Intel i5-520M (dual core, 1.06GHz)
    - Possible DDR3 support
    - Intel HM55 graphics

The specs are wrong on Acer's site. It still lists Core 2 specs. This is nice, maybe I could (will) sell my 3810 for this, although I wish this had a Core i7 660um. This is exactly what I wanted when I was forced to get the 3810t last July when the 11.6" Acer's had yet to debut. So getting this will keep me happy maybe even longer than what my sig says. :D

Hopefully the price is low. I think I could still get a lot for my 3810 because it has the SU9400 and only a couple scratches here and there.

I hope I can get the IT guys to agree to getting the 1830T. I only had the 1810T since last November and they might not be in a giving mood.

    Hey Jayayess1190,

If you switch the numbers 1 and 3 in your 3810T, you come up with 1830T. I think it's fate that you get an 1830T.

Based on the specs, it looks like the Aspire One 752 is going to replace the 1410 models (Celeron and SU2300) and the 1830 will either be it's own model or replace the 1810.

Nice :D . It was hard for me to resist getting an 1810. I almost bought one multiple times then canceled the orders quickly. As much as I love my 3810t, I still want something smaller. Having an EEE 901 for a year spoiled me with its size.

In general how long after a notebook is announced are they actually shipped out? I'm guessing its about 2 months after announcement date, any one else have an estimated time frame or can it be completely varied?

    Finally!
The AS-1810T-8638 is on it's way. ETA: 3/17/10; date ordered: 2/24/10
    worth the wait?

Stay tuned. I'll post some pics of unwrap event and launch, but probably not before checking the links here at NBR for a list of recommended enhancements, s/w deletions, driver updates, etc.

I must say, I'm impressed w/Provantage and price.
It only took 20 dyas [17 business days] to locate item and ship. I was alittle concerned that it was taking so long and expected a re-neg on their part since I witnessed the price rise at least 10% lately at Buy.com, Amazon, etc.

    I'll update later w/pics.

    OK. all good now.

    Les,
The 1810T-8638 was $603 and +$24 shipping to so. CA fr Ohio [then to Indiana, then to Chicago...]. Never tried a Bing CB when I ordered, since at the time Provantage was the only eseller having it in stock at less than $675.

I hate always paying full retail, but I did an extended search from a promo code for Provantage but came up w/zero.

Notebookreview fans, I come to you with hope that we can find a fix for this without me having to send out the laptop. I have a weird buzzing sound coming from my laptop, prior to doing a restore for reasons unrelated this past weekend, the sound wasn't constant, now its constant. I've uploaded a youtube video which if you jack your sound up you can hear the buzz. Can anyone tell me whats causing it? More importantly, what I can to do to fix it? I'm leaving for CTIA next week and can't get the laptop out and back in time?!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkQPILm5o0w

Edit: Ok, this ONLY occurs when the machine is plugged in, when its on battery life the noise does not occur?! Could it bad a power cord?

I've seen the program, is there any risk to the system long term by using the program? Is there a decisive method to determining how often to run the fan or not?

No risk whatsover.Almost all the owners of 1410-1810 we use that program. Is a must if you don't like headaches. You don't have to do anything.Set it to start automatically as you enter the pc and it will do the rest, that is keeping the temperature around 52 degrees(or less-more if you set it otherwisw).

Picked up an Aspire AS1410-2920 about a week ago from Newegg. Haven't had too much time to play with it, but I've noticed something that is starting to drive me nuts.

About 25% of the screen (the left side) is, I'd say, 10-15% brighter than the rest. It's not an incredible difference, but enough to bother me. I've been hoping that I'd eventually "un-notice" it but I cant.

Easiest way to explain it: Reading text on a white background is when it's most noticeable. The text on the left sits in front of a bright white background. As I move to the right as I'm reading, the background becomes a very dull white.

Does anyone else have this problem? Should I just deal with it? I didn't notice it the first day. But once I did, it's been the only thing I think about when looking at the screen.

I love everything else about this notebook. It provides everything I'm looking for. Perfect size, enough power to get my work done, and solid battery life.

Maybe I'm just being too picky? Kind of my nature. :) But it's definitely noticeable enough to bother me.
