The lack of availability is not because there's no market, it's more like there isn't much profit for the manufacturer. People would buy way more variants of things if the product was available and they'd buy less of what they're "forced to buy due to lack of availability & competition" if more variants were released to market. I can bet you there's a good handful of prototypes for this DDR3 DRAM on DDR2 PCBs. Manufacturers probably just don't want to spend money on it for profit reasons.

I want to install a Logitech Unifying Receiver inside my 1810T. I know there's a second mini-PCIe slot that's not all there inside the 1810T and that we can use the D+ and D- lines to get a USB port out of it. Where do we tap in though to get ground and the 5V that USB requires?
-
Is there a teardown that shows where the wifi antenna is? I've never taken this thing apart.
-
I would start with the Timeline tweaks thread. It's listed in the first post on here.
-
A company is not the Social Welfare Organisation. For any product developped and manufactured there must be some profit.
The product you request is simply out of question for any company whose management is not heavily on drugs. No company is willing to accept a 99% return rate.
No company can afford to mass-produce goods with extremely limited compatibility and non-standard compliance. Mass production means compliance with standards. DDR3 chips on DDR2 PCB does not meet any standard.
Why should they waste their shareholders money on that? There is a market for DDR2 modules and there is a market for DDR3 modules.
If you are willing to spend some money, then ask for a custom modules. They will be happy to serve you.
You don't want to ride a dead horse either, don't you?
What does this tell us? Shop owners don't know what they are selling? That is not new.
You might also have been a victim of SEO (search engine optimisation).
100% typos.
Then go ahead, order and report back what you got.
Michael
P.S.: I assume you have already verified your Acer's Bios has DDR3 support
-
Social Welfare Organization? Companies don't produce products at a known loss (financial deficit) on purpose to make their cllients/customers happy? What about google for starters? They only make profit from their search engine, most of their other products are a financial loss but since their customers are really happy with these "loss leaders" (an official term for this business model) they get to corner market share and keep their customer base loyal and happy doing so. Many organizations do this, look it up and you'll find it's an effective business model and it restores my faith in any organization when I see them take the risk/hit to make customers happy.
This also brings into question open source software, I havn't heard of any that make huge profits but there are many organizations producing open source software and it's very popular and sustainable.
lavalys everest says the GS45 chipset supports both DDR2 & DDR3 and it lists the speeds for each type supported. DDR2-667 up to 800 and DDR3-667 up to 1066, 5 different standards. I posted links to the part numbers of these hybrid DDR3/DDR2 modules. If you combine DDR2 PCB standards and DDR3 DRAM standards then you are not violating any standards making such a hybrid module. Each component is compliant with their respective standard.
I will order some when I get the cash, I bet these modules are real and exist since I've already found 5 different part numbers from A-RAM, G.Skill, Crucial, and I think A-DATA. -
Hardware and Software/Services are totally different businesses.
Giving away software for free can be a marketing instrument (Google, MS, Apple), or it is business model since the money is made with services (open source related companies). And like hardware manufacturers, they (usually) offer products that work.
A hardware manufacturer might calculate some (slight) deficit for a certain product, but not a total loss due to a 99% return rate of a non-standard-compliant product.
You could also read the data sheet available from intel.com
Does Everest also tell you, your Acer laptop has Bios support for DDR3?
No. You posted search results like price compare websites and a few shops.
Memory Configurations: JESD21-C | JEDEC
Read the Table of Contents document. It is the complete list of standardised modules.
Then simply check the websites of Crucial , G. Skill and A-Data at first.
Michael -
mwave, umart, and onlinevip are stores with the product, getprice is a shopping guide site but all those links still have the part# . I will obviously check with the manufacturer before ordering. I didn't want to put too much work into it because I'm already occupied with other research/projects. I just took enough time to post links that give a manufacturer part number or the item from an online store.
In lavalys when I view the section about my chipset in my laptop it lists those five DDR2/3 speeds under
Code:--------[ Chipset ]----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ North Bridge: Intel Cantiga GS45 ] North Bridge Properties: North Bridge Intel Cantiga GS45 Supported FSB Speeds FSB533, FSB667, FSB800, FSB1066 Supported Memory Types DDR2-667 SDRAM, DDR2-800 SDRAM, DDR3-667 SDRAM, DDR3-800 SDRAM, DDR3-1066 SDRAM Maximum Memory Amount 8 GB Revision / Stepping 07 / B3 Package Type 1363 Pin FC-BGA Package Size 2.7 cm x 2.5 cm Core Voltage 1.05 V In-Order Queue Depth 12 -
I already said that.Sometimes. And this at least proves that these shop keepers either have no idea what they are selling or they are simply too lazy/stupid/whatever to provide proper product information. Your results from getprice might be simply seo.
At least all these are no reliable sources to prove me wrong.
This would have been the faster way
Everest simply displays information retrieved from a database. If this database is fed properly, then the data shown is not in contradiction to the official datasheets

I'm not seeing the location of the wifi card and antenna.
This picture has a card that has been pixelated near the bottom middle of screen. Is that the wifi card? If so... that's a long long antenna cord. Does the antenna wrap around the monitor screen? -
I just took my AS1410 apart and had a look around. I removed the molding around the screen to check out the wifi antenna wires, nothing looks bad.
I looked at the actual Intel 1000 wifi card and it was seated correctly.
I removed the white and black antenna wires and tested my wifi capabilities and they were severely limited (as I figured they would be). But then I reversed the black and white wire attachments on the wifi card and did some testing. It's looking to be connecting at further distances now.
I'll do some more testing. -
So I did a search for window 7 upgrade and there is 400 pages on this thread so no way I can go through it.
Someone can help me out.
I have the 1410 and the Win 7 upgrade this from Acer.
I finally got around to install it and it never boot into Windows.
So I just did a re-install since the disk let me.
- So it went just fine but after a few usage, I got the blue screen of death before booting into windows. I then formatted the drive and did another re-install.
- Seems like everything is fine now but the boot up time is super slooow. I even partition another section and did another window install and the boot up time is still the same.
I timmed it and its like 2:05. Are you guys having the same issues ?? -
Is your hard drive OK??Sounds like hard drive problems and not win7 problems.Do a disc check to see if you have any errors in your hard drive.
-
I did a disk check and found no error.
Now, most of the time it boots up, the screen pops up asking to "scan the disk for consistency" before going into Windows.
Does sound like the hard drive is bad. -
No it doesn't...You have to go back and cancel the disk check.Otherwise it will do it every time you boot up...I really don't know what the problem is but people with 1410 haven't reported such a problem. The normal boot time is 45 sec....I am assuming you used a clean upgrade copy of win7 and you have deleted the file "win.old" file.
-
I would have expected the opposite.

Hi frens,
I recently got myself a 1810T. Its working fine…
But I have this problem…
A. When I have 10 or more tabs open in google chrome and I am scrolling down a page then it does not scroll down in a smooth manner…. there is a jerky movement & sometimes it even just simply hangs for a few seconds before becoming reactive again…
B. Also I noticed when I have any downloading happening in the background and I have itunes playing music then it just skips very often for a millisecond… its not a huge gap but for a fraction of a second but you can make out that the music playing is not 100% smooth…..
So can u guys having 1810T help me out…..
1. Why is this 2 problems happening…??
2. How can I solve it…??
Thanks. -
B) You need to remove the MMCS dependancy.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\AudioSrv
in DependOnService make sure to remove the line pertaining to MMCS.
Then disable the Multimedia Class Scheduler service in services.msc
Set to manual in case you get other problems.
Then restart -
thanks for suggesting the reply... but i just coudlnt figure out how to do it....
what does MMCS mean...???
could you guide me how to follow ur instructions....??
thanks -
I just got the 1810tz and I am pretty happy with it. The battery life is amazing, processing power (except in games) is really strong and peppy.
That said, when I run HD youtube videos, even in 360p, in full screen it gets pretty choppy. Not so bad that you can't watch it, but there are definitely numerous frames dropped every few seconds.
Does this seem normal? I would expect a CPU like this combined with the Intel 4500mhd to be able to run a full screen Youtube video smoothly. -
Also, when I run CPU-z, the processor is running at 6x200 for 1.2 ghz. It is supposed to be running at 1.3 ghz, so I assume it is supposed to be a 6.5x multiplier. How do I make it do this?
This was with the power plug in and power saving mode off. -
Try upgrading to the latest Flash player.
-
I will give that a shot... though I am pretty sure I already did that when I first tried to play a Youtube video (it asked me to install Flash). I only assume they give you the most current, right?
-
That I am unsure of. I downloaded it directly from the Adobe website.
-
Hi could user of acer 1810tz help me with these queries:
1) is the laptop noisy? the fan and other stuff when its running
2) what the average run time of the laptop on battery?
3) can it play youtube 720p or 1080p videos?
4) anyone tried playing warcraft or heroes 4 on this laptop?
5) would u recommend it?
Thanks for all replies!!! I am now urgently looking for a laptop to buy. Hope u all will help
-
1)Yes it's a bit noisy but you can control that with a certain application and make it dead silent.
2)6.5 HOURS
3)720p absolutely perfect, 1080 it will drop some frames once in a while.
4) Not me.
5)YES....Go and buy it "yesterday"..It will be the best buy you ever made. -
What the application? I think i will get this then!! youtube cannot play hd but normal hd video should be no prob?
-
It's a bug in CPU-z, even in the beta versions.
I don't think it's been fixed yet.
Cheers,
Kermee -
-
Warcraft 3 works perfectly, so it's safe to say that an older game like Heroes 4 will work also.
-
I am pretty sure this might have been answered already but which one of the 1410/1810's is the better one, tz or t?
Hopefully since the 1830 was released these will now come down in price and i plan on purchasing either this or the asus ul -
Τhe 1810T is the better of the family. They may come down in price but they may also disappear.
-
Hi friends
I lost my Acer 1810T charger.
1. Can i use my Acer 5920 charger with the 1810T...???
2. Will the charger of 5920 damage the battey of 1810T..??
Thanks. -
Re: the battery life ...
How come? Most reviews state the battery life is >8 hrs. Acer themselves even advertise it as 8 hours. Is this the same as when it was new? What kind of activity? Do you have the 6-cell 5800mAh battery?
I'm almost sold on the 1810T Olympic Edition with the SU7300, but if the battery life isn't really that much better than the 1830 ... -
I have the 5600mah battery.Be careful most come with this battery. The 5800mah is relatively new...
Yes it was like that from the begining,on balance mode and light activities(wifi on).I have never been able to get more than 6.5 hours no matter what.I don't care what Acer says or the reviews, most people report 6.5 hours. And the same goes for the 1830.If Acer says X hours you can bet that in real life is X-2 hours..
Having said all that I am absolutely thrilled with this notebook and I think the 181Ot olympic edition is an excellent choice. -
Got one for the guru's here.
I am fairly talented when it comes to PC's both on hardware repair and software side also.
I have a Japanese Gateway ec-1800 and have been running into problems with swapping out the keyboards. I ordered an international English keyboard and swapped out the Japanese one. When booting up WIN7, I get a constant beeping sound (which will be explained why shortly in the story).
When it finally goes into the desktop, when I click on the start button, the cursor is automatically spacebar-ing (like the spacebar is stuck). I can hit any key except the spacebar to make it stop. All the keys except the spacebar will respond properly. At first I thought it may be a defective keyboard and recieved another. The problem is the same on both ENGLISH keyboards. The Japanese keyboard works just fine when re-installed.
Made sure to un-install the JPN keyboard from device manager, remove the KBD106.dll (jpn keyboard driver), complete re-install of WIN7. Nothing seems to narrow down the problem.
Any takers on this one, as I am at a loss.
Cheers,
FRANK RYAN
Nagano, Japan -
I get 8 to 8.5 hours easily with my 1810TZ, wifi on, browsing the internet, including lots of flash, and brightness isn't bottomed out.
-
Good for you..I wish I had those numbers with my 1810TZ.What's more I also have a1410T with SU3500(single core) and a5600mah battery and it also gets around 6.5 hours and only if I am extra energy careful...
-
Thanks for the info Minjin, good to know.
thundernet, maybe there's something wrong with your battery, or you have some app installed that drains your battery ... there's a review for the 1810TZ that claims 5:47 runtime under FULL LOAD almost 12 hours for office tasks.
I will probably go for the 1810 olympic edition with the SU7300, 4GB RAM and bluetooth soon, then I'll find out ... -
Wrong thread?
-
GUESSES
A.You bought both english keyboards from the same place and the whole lot is defective.Maybe faulty ribbons.
B.The slot of the notebook to which the ribbons go in got damaged from overuse and now it conflicts with the english keyboard ribbons.
C.The drivers for the english keyboards are not the proper ones.
D.Some kind of universal conspiracy to drive you nuts..... -
Mine is a 1810T with 3G and with the modem on, it gets 7 hours max with internet surfing...and it has the smaller battery....
-
I have the 6 hour battery in both my 1410s (one is the Gateway version) and get about 4.5 to a max of ~5 hours of battery life. It been pretty well documented throughout this thread that most users get about 1.5 to 2 hours less than claimed battery life.
Until MinJin posted, I've actually never seen anyone claiming to get a full 8 hours out of a charge. The battery meter might show you that it expects 8 hours, but I doubt most people will actually get it. -
I actually get about 8 hours w/ Wi-Fi on, surfing the net. Also, brightness one notch above lowest.
-
Cool. I wonder how many really do get close to the claimed battery life. I added a poll. Please vote.
-
Anyone source OEM batteries for our 1410/1810T's in the U.S. yet? Lookin' to pick up another 5600mAh battery...
Cheers,
Kermee
