While I have not received the baby yet (from Amazon), but its currently on the Fedex truck as I patiently work from home waiting for it. Unless they sent me the wrong baby (I ordered 1810t in blue with SU7300), I'm guessing the current status of "not released yet" is because they don't really have an ETA on the next batch after being sold out on the preorder batch.

I'm still impressed by the 1410 with SU2300. -
The 1810T was 3-5 weeks delivery?! -
I don't know it that was a typo, but it's the first time I hear of a 3GB + 250GB package (in EU)... :-/ Ususally it's 2GB+250GB (412G25N) or 3GB+320GB (412G32N)... You sure about those figures? -
The first thing I thought when I saw the first leaks of Acer's 11.6" CULV series a few months ago was that it has the potential to become what the Aspire One was in the netbook segment. I still think this is true. The competition is still too expensive and/or underperforming. -
Acer has 5100 Wlan drivers for the German 1810TZ model in its support area. Maybe not every country gets the WiFi 1000 component. Wouldn't surprize me with all this differences.

Nothing about Windows 7 Home Premium though
Weird! -
My order from J&R is still showing backordered. Does anyone have an 1810T on order that has actually shipped?

Don't pay any attention to what Amazon initially has listed in the specs. It usually takes a few tries for them to get it right. The model numbers are correct and consistent with Acer's 1810 Timeline website. -

I think the key might be Intel's graphics drivers power saving features. I don't know how advanced the Linux drivers are. And I won't test it. My Linux knowledge is rookie at best(I do know some Linux stuff, though. I did some N800 Maemo stuff and Aspire One Linpus(Fedora based) tweaking.)
-
And what about 5100AGN wifi adapter in windows? Is there still a max power saving-max performance bug after hibernation or standby?
-
Btw, if my 1810t goes into standby while connected to mains and I unplug the PSU while the device is still in standby, the bug doesn't show when waking up from standby. -
Just received my new AS1810T-8679 (just to be clear) from Amazon and I am definately impressed! I kinda already knew what to expect as far as form factor and build quality, but I have to say I'm very pleased in this regard. This thing is just plain cool! I still think the 11.6" size (literally the size of a notebook) is just the perfect combination of portability and usability. I mean, this is as small as you're going to get and still get a full size keyboard. To me, that alone makes it much more USABLE than a typical 10" netbook. Anway, here are a few initial performance observations:
The first thing I just had to test was the infamous Lady Gaga video referenced in Phil's review of the SU3500 version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAV8bxC-eOc. I wanted to start by putting the device in a very typical or "real world" situation, so I played this video full screen with ten i.e. tabs open, all crapware still installed, and no tweeks whatsoever. The result was perfectly smooth playback, with CPU usage hovering in the 55-60% range most of the time, and peaking out a few times at 70-73%. This is exactly the kind of performance I was hoping for! I also played some 1080p H.264 AVC HD clips from my Canon HF100 camcorder. This also played smoothly even in WMP, with CPU usage averaging about 30%. Sweet!
Ok, I'm gonna go play some more... -

Hi again,
As for the 7300 vs 4100... I don't think I'm wrong, at least not entirely wrong.
I believe Intel doesn't actually sell the 4100 and the 7300 at the same prize, as it makes no sense. Who would want the Pentium Dual Core instead of the Core 2 Duo?? I believe nobody, if only because the Core 2 Duo brand is better when selling a laptop that the "old" Pentium name.
But then, if the Pentium is cheaper, it sure has differences with the 7300.. who would buy the 7300 if the SU4100 is the same but lacking the VT extensions? Acer not, since the BIOS doesn't support VT.
The explanation could be that the 4100 is simpler than the 7300. I'm not an expert in CPU design or whatever (not even close), but I'm sure that by not supporting the deeper C-States, the lower P-states frequencies and not having VT the CPU becomes less complex and, thus, cheaper. I'm afraid ark.intel doesn't show every parameter of the processor, making the decission a bit more difficult.
It's a littile like the Celeron processor in laptops. I saw some HP 13,3 unit which got me tempted, but it had a T3000 processor. Number wise, the processor wasn't bad: dual core, 1mb cache, 1'8GHz, 64bit. A quick look at ark.intel showed it lacked Intel Enhanced Speedstep, which for me makes it unusable in a laptop.
Of course there's a way to prove: if someone has a SU7300 processor and installs linux on it, cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_available_frequencies will show the freqs available and powertop will show the C-States.
EDIT: nearly forgot. Both my SU4100 and my girlfriend's SU3500 are undervolted. Her's is running at 0,8750V and mine is running at 0,925V. On both machines, the value is the lowest that the phc extensions allow. Would be nice seeing how a SU7300 does.

@PatrickVogeli
Nobody said you are wrong
This is an important issue to investigate. Did you find out which C-states are supported on the su4100? -
-
I have received and typing this from at 1810t SU7300 from Amazon.
Very impressed with the build quality.
Also, the 1810t has the Intel 5100 wifi chip and connects to my 5 Ghz. home network great! Also had gigabit ethernet though that was probably less of a concern.
More to follow later in the day, as I have to go to work now -
I'm waiting for Diamond Black to come in stock... somewhere...Congrats on your Blue Sapphire! PIX!

Does anyone know what size slipskin/notebook jacket/sleeve is good for the 1410/1810 series? I need something that I won't have to take off when on the go.
-
, it was better than the silence coming from Acer's direction.
Props guys! -
Btw, does anybody know how to log C-state usage in Windows? I didn't fiddle with this, yet. -
-
Just picked up a HP dm3, I'll probably go pick up the AS1410 next week when my paycheck comes in. My wallet feels so empty now

Let's see if a SU7300 user with linux drops in and tells what he is getting -
Okay, I updated the OP. I hope this helps clear things up a little. I can make more changes if needed. Let me know.
-
I wanted to do an availability guide earlier on, no time for it right now, let's see if I do it sometime later... -
I have got my 1810TZ yesterday and wondered why I wasn't able to turn on Bluetooth. Then I checked on the internet and found out that my 1810TZ was without Bluetooth although there is a button for Bluetooth. This is so dissappointing I must say, why can't acer build all 1810TZs with Bluetooth? Why is there a button for Bluetooth if the machine does not have any?
Is there any possibility that I can get Bluetooth functioning? Do I have to buy the Bluetooth modul by myself and install it? -
The 1810T has integrated Bluetooth, the 1810TZ doesn't..........
-

-
Would be an extremely poor oversight if the 1810TZ SKU's didn't.
Cheers,

It is the Case Logic LNEO-10 Ultraportable Neoprene Notebook Sleeve (Black) and fits great. I have used this sleeve for both my Asus 1000HE and my Acer 1410 (the 1410 is a snug fit but fits great since it is a bit thinner than the 1000HE). It also has plenty of room in the front for the power brick and my USB wireless card. -
But the Huawei module probably will not be used in US models.
This downloadable "WhitePaper" is an excellent resource for
anybody interested in 3G compatabity with System 7.
It lists modules used by various companies worldwide,
along with work-arounds for Sys7. -
Well, my 1810T arrived intact! I would've preferred black but blue was the only thing available at the time, so I'll live with it. Something tells me we may see price gouging and/or shortages for the forseeable future.
Compared to the SU3500 1410 I came very close to getting earlier, I think the 1810's build quality is a tad better. No keyboard flex or bounce and it feels overall VERY well put-together. Better than some of the larger, pricier Acers I've seen lately and definitely than the Yonah Core Duo Acer I had 2 yeard ago. Color me impressed with the improvements Acer's made in recent years.
Keep in mind that I am coming to the 11.6" Timeline from 3 EEE PCs in a row (701 4G, 1000H, 1000HE). I still prefer the aesthetics of the Asus models but I must admit to being very pleasantly surprised at the super-bright LCD and the comfort level of the keyboard. Performance is also a good bit better than the single-core C2S I played with previously with Vista. I tried a handful of HD streaming videos from Hulu, CBS, and YouTube and they all played flawlessly or very close to it.
Another pleasant surprise was finding that the stock RAM came in 2x DDR2800/PC6400 (not 667). The stock HDD is a Hitachi, just like my Acer. I also installed the latest BIOs update right off the bat. My unit had a build date of 10/15 but had an outdated BIOS out of the box (2 verions earlier). Without any tweaks or bloatware removal, the performance is quite snappy. I am going to eventually stick my WD Black in there just to see what it does to temps, performance and battery life.
A few other quick observations: The speakers' volume is better than on my EEE but perhaps not as "rich" sounding. The underside of the Acer is a lot cooler than the EEE (especially when ocverclocking the EEE with Super Hybrud Engine). I am not fond at all of the Acer's touchpad (size, texture, or driver) but I'll manage. Having standard Bluetooth is nice (seldom seen on US-model Acers) so I can use my BT mouse. The fan is also quieter than on my EEE. Obviously there is something to be said for Acer's "Laminar Wall Jet" technology, huh?
Probably my biggest gripe so far is the Acer's power brick. While it's decently small, I'm not a big fan of the 3-prong plug. Again, not a dealbreaker and I'll manage. Being a creature of habit, I'm also used to having my AC adapter plug on the right side instead of the left.
So in hindsight I probably would have waited a bit longer and gone with the 1410 refresh with the dualcore SU2300 and eventually gotten around to adding a BT module myself. I honestly think that the 1810TZ is the odd man out, since it's not much cheaper than the T, especially if you want to upgrade it to 4GB RAM. I'd like to see Acer drop $50 from the T's MSRP, EOL the TZ, and keep the 1410 exactly as is. Nevertheless, after pricing a comparable Dell 11z online, I have to admit that Acer's absolutely pulled the rug out of the competition with their aggressively priced line of CULV machines here at the Win 7 launch.
Glad to be part of the 11.6" Acer club!! -
Thanks to all the folks here, it has been an exciting wait. Hope everyone gets their orders delivered soon and the stock get replenished. Its hard to comprehend why these machines are so supply constrained, that they are in the wild in some parts of the world and in others so scant, given that Acer obviously has had a lot of time to work on them. -
Man I wish I had one of the dual-cores. I've been watching a bunch of music videos on Youtube with my AS1410 SU3500 and I wish I could watch them full-screen! (I could grab the Vostro 1400 with the nvidai card, but it's a sled!)
Welcome to the club...with dual-cores you lucky dogs. -
How much are 6cell batteries for the 1810TZ/1410? One of the things that scare me about Sony lapotps are the cost of their batteries. HP seems decent.
I'm almost ready to be a new owner of a 1410 =] -
About $90-$100. Is it because you want the larger 5600mAh battery or just a spare?
If you want the larger, you may as well step up to one of the 1810s. Pay them now or pay them later. You know what I mean? -
Does anyone know if the 1410/1810 uses SATA2 or SATA1? I know it has a GS45 chipset, and that would normally mean SATA2. But it seems that many notebook mfgs use a neutered version which can only achieve SATA1 speeds. I want to put an SSD in the 1410 but only if it's going to be used to it's full potential. SATA1 limits the SSD to about 100mb/s instead of the usual 200mb/s range.
