I noticed they wrote that, but I don't think it's right. The only active flash during youtube playback is the movie itself.
I'm pretty sure they used lighter movies, as all kinds of movies are labeled HD on Youtube. I always use Lady GaGa - Poker Face [ 720p HD ] because I know it's heavy. And even that one says: This isn't a true High Definition Video.
-
@Phil
I suppose you are right. I've no experience in youtube stuff, I only watch low quality if at all.
Btw, they want comments what to test, so if anyone is interested in something, he/she could just ask them to test it. -
Will they give you the Bing rate at the time they charge you, or at the time of order? -
I have been out a little bit (Database broken also ...)
According with some checks I did last days, expect about a 50€ or less price difference between 1810T and 1810TZ in EU ...
The same spanish retailer has actually the 1810TZ quoted at less than 500€ (No stock yet) and the Acer Aspire Timeline 3810T-354G32MN mentioned on the tests before at 560€ (SU3500).
Question i don´t know yet is the keyboard layout ... I suspect a direct import ... so english keyboard, not spanish
Cheers -

-
Also I have seen a 100€ price difference for the same 1810T model between Redcoon.de and Redcoon.at !!
Cheers -
Can anyone provide exact memory specs on this machine. I have ordered the 1410 from Amazon and am planning on bumping it to 4GB.
I know it's a DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) SO-DIMM. Should I play it safe and just order a 4GB matched (2x2) kit , or save a few $$ and just pick up a 2 GB stick?
It looks like it ships with a single 2GB installed and one slot open.
I'm mainly concerned with making sure the Cas Latency etc. is the same.
What's in this thing?
Info appreciated! -
In the first post of this thread, can we update the information, such as all the model/SKU information, model numbers, specs for each model, pricing, availability, etc?
Because I am confused on all the models to come out so it would be nice to have a summary in the beginning of this thread, a FAQ or something of the sort. -
@Rahul
I think we should only list stuff when it's in stock and available to consumers. I doubt that Nobackup will update the first post with unofficial models anyway(rightly so). -
If someone wants to make it, post it here and I'll put it in the start post.
-
The blue version of the 1410 was in stock at Amazon.com for $449 about 10 minutes ago.

Another 1810t review:
http://www.aspireoneuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=87&t=17054&p=100778#p100778
It seems that having a bad paint job is a common problem -
Is it actually in stock or does it just say that? With all the people on pre-order lists @ J&R, seems unlikely...

Firstclassminis.de posted a Gaga-Bench(lol) update
http://www.firstclassminis.de/2009/08/hd-video-youtube-und-wmv-auf-acer-aspire-timeline-1810-1410/ -
I'm not sure but audio seems out of sync and some dropped frames. Seems better than what I remember though.
Too bad they're not posting CPU utilization. -
They are on a roll! 1810t vs Lenovo s10e comparison:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgOUc2l2fyU -
-
They answered my question "this video don´t seem to run properly on the 1810T. All other flash-HD material we tested looked better. Anyway... the CPU-Load was always around 100%. "
Too bad I did not test anymore true HD videos. I can't believe Lady Gaga is the heaviest of all. I'll do some more testing.
In the meantime: can someone tell me if this video causes more or less CPU utilization than Hulu HD? -
@Phil
Those idiots tell me, that hulu can only be streamed in the USA. The vid you linked runs flawlessly at 80%-100% load on my overclocked Atom(2GHz) -
Thanks. I know Hulu can not be played here, that why I asked
I just checked Lady Gaga on P8600 2.4GHz. 88% CPU load!!! -
I'm greatly interested in this machine! I've read everything on it and would like to confirm a few things from actual users (instead of spec sheets)...
Has anyone loaded Windows 7 on the 1410/1810t?
Does the "dxdiag" utility show WDDM 1.1 capability? (WDDM 1.1 improves GDI performance and lowers memory overhead)
Can you share the output of GPU-Z (either an image or text) showing the GPU clock, manufacturing pitch, etc.?
How about CPU-Z output?
What drivers are built into Windows 7... which must be downloaded?
Is battery life noticeably different between Vista/Windows 7?
I couldn't find these tidbits anywhere though. It seems the best "benchmark" is to show the 1410 playing Youtube videos (which pointless since an upcoming version of Flash will fix performance regressions in newer Intel chips). If a Flash video stutters... use FlashGot to download it locally and play it with VLC. VLC's playback typically uses ~50% of Adobe's on my netbook with an Atom N270.
Thanks! -
I don't think the issue is youtube videos, but the hd videos...

It's in German so Goggle translator is your friend
Their conclusion: Buy!
Edit:
Btw, they measured not more than 43 degrees Celsius CPU temp after several hours compiling stuff at 100% CPU load! There seems to be some headroom in the cooling system, nice for overclocking attempts.

I'm intrigued by the fact that the SU3500 plays most Youtube HD videos, except Lady Gaga
It means the SU3500 may be a better option than I thought.
-
A few tidbits from Intels GMA 4500MHD spec and PR sheets:
- Blu-ray support @ 40 Mb/s
- Full Hardware HD Decode of WMV9 (VC-1), H.264 (AVC), MPEG-2
- Requires software player with Intel Clear Video Technology support
- 533 MHz clock required for Blu-ray support (why the GPU-Z info is useful)
I cannot find CPU requirements for HD playback anywhere. Intel undoubtedly licensed system-on-a-chip codecs from Broadcom or LSI logic in which case the CPU should be almost idle for HD playback.
I ordered a 1410 and it will be here Wednesday Ill wipe Vista straight out of the box (and burn the COA sticker) then load Windows 7 from MSDN. I'll answer my questions soon enough. -
And what's with Acer recycling the 1410 model number? I found the "Acer 1410 service manual" on their website and it's for some 5 year old laptop. Did they run out of 4-digit model numbers or what?
The model number doesnt even contain Asian lucky numbers and includes the very unlucky 4. Ohhh now I get it! They are selling that model to US customers... I see what theyve done there. -
@lepton
Afaik, GPU-Z has problems detecting the true GPU clock of Intel IGPs. I read the author asking for help in an Intel forum, but he didn't get a respose.
I'm eager to check if some combination of player and codec activates 533MHz HD-Turbo mode. I don't know the register settings as they are not documented in the chipset's datasheet. I will check with Wpcredit if I can find something. It would be nice if it was possible to trigger 533MHz mode in games. -

CPU utilization comes into the 50% range with DXVA enabled, but bad image quality is the result.Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -

And in Europe too.
-
It seems that full HD hardware decoding requires DXVA-HD which is only on Windows 7. Without this certain processing steps are still done on the CPU in combination with regular DXVA. With DXVA-HD the video player can stream raw data onto the chip and it does calculations that a general purpose CPU cannot handle.
I have compiled and stepped through the DXVA-HD sample from the Windows SDK 7.0. Unfortunately my ATI 4870 (with latest drivers) doesnt support DXVA-HD . so I cant play around with the API. But Ill try this again when the 1410 comes.
Also the CPU utilization should be measured using the Resource Monitor which shows frequency scaling and usage (since the CPU slows down to conserve power). Of course if it is pegged at 100% then everything is probably at peak usage. -
I put the 1810T in High Performance profile. As far as I know the CPU is clocked at 1.4Ghz and doesn't slow down in that profile.

Gentlemen:
The 1810TZ is dissapiaring from the sites where they were offer !!
Product has been removed or not available !! Spain in UK
An example:

Still here though:

-
This will show what applications are using which DXVA or DXVA-HD capabilities. If software doesn't use it then the Intel hardware won't be fully used. So that might be a nice way to evaluate which media player is best for the 1410 hardware. -
Every codec that used DXVA had the same problems in image quality.
Unfortunately I don't have the 1810T anymore so I can not do more testing at the moment. -

We regret that this product is sold out. Please call our laptop sales team on 0844 412 4525 for an equivalent model.
Same like in other places I have checked ... I think this is going in chain ... IFAIK Mr. NoBackup was more real than us .... May be the problem with the September 6th embargo o something else ... the model is delayed o may be not released ....
Now in the Acer Chinesse Web site I can see the 1410 and 1810, but I can not see anymnore the indication of any SU4100 in the series ... -
Well they're still there. It just says 'sold out' but that can change any day like it did now. I think they won't be released before October. That's all.
Just my educated guess. -
It's definitely gone from the Chinese 1810t specs.
Post you favourite conspiration theory here:
[ ]
-
Ok I'll speculate
My favourites:
1. Intel woke up. The embargo on SU2300 and SU4100 is real. They urged all sites to remove the info.
2. Acer woke up and realized the information on Dual Core models is hurting the current sales of Single Core models. -
My guess:
The person who posted it on the Chinese site will move to a smaller office in the basement lol -
I can't wait for the day when these dozens of dumb CPU-based codecs are all gone. Maybe OpenCL/DirectX compute/DXVAHD or some other hardware-acceleration approach will take over in the coming years. -
