The 4400mah won't get over 6 hours of browsing time. It may jump around and show up to just over 6 hours full charge but it doesn't get it. Real world usage is about 5.5hours. This under win7 rtm.

It will be a very nice solution for small netbooks and especially swivel hinge designs, though. -
So when can I buy this in the UK?

Great find! Translation: http://translate.google.com/transla...ge=7#pid9558043&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&hl=en&ie=UTF-8
Almost needless to say, but let us know when they talk about fan noise, performance, benchmarks etc. -
@Phil
Will do -
Someone is claiming 4500hmd is playing the Bourne Ultimatum perfect with DXVA enabled in Windows 7. Can anyone confirm this?
Does anyone remember the Swedish shop that said it would have the Tz in 10 days? If so link please.
China gets a sleeve with the 1810TZ

At a retail store, figure out what is the largest size machine you are willing to haul around. If you think a 13" might be small enough, look at the Acer 3810 series. Its thin and light and just feels so good. The 3810 has many speed and cost variations available.
If the largest you want is an 11.6" display or a 10", let us know. There are plenty of machines and plenty of deals.
Its the same trade-off for all. Lots of words per line on a large display or fewer on a small display. Display-size verses content becomes increasingly important when vision fades. The text/font size you need will be the same, in any case. -

New Win7(should work in Vista too I suppose) graphics drivers. Thanks to 7oby

i can confirm that the bourne ultimatum trailer posted on this forum works flawlessly on windows 7 on the american 1410

So neither the 1810TZ, nor the 1410 have the "Leafy button"?
That means the 1410 will get the advertised 6 hours of battery life running on Windows Vista power saver settings--without the special Acer "Leafy button" software from the Timeline series--is this correct? -
Hey guys,
I got myself a 1810T. It's really nice. I use it with Windows 7 Build 7600 atm, and the battery life is great. I watched 4h movies + About 2h browsing and still had 1h left on the indication (Balanced), really nice.
But broken Deblocking with DXVA sucks, at least with MPC, in WMP12 it works flawlessly?
My testclip is Final Fantasy 7 AC, mkv 1080p soft subs. Cyberlink fails completely CoreAVC is out of sync and laggs, DXVA works very good in MPC but with broken Deblocking and in WMP12 it works with DXVA and deblocking but without subtitles :/.
But watching 1080p MKV without subs looks really nice in WMP12, perfect sync and 10-30% CPU usage. -

I'm at 0x9A at this moment. fanmodes.exe crashes every single value for since 0x4x or so (posted that in an earlier post. Don't know exactly from what point it started crashing) and won't restart until I reboot the system. So I've rebooted the 1810T about 20 times already today. Takes a long time to find the values this way.
I'll post the values when I'm all the way through. -
Thanks Cusem, your work is appreciated, the whole community will benefit

WHen can we get the 1810TZ in the US!?
-
-
hi guys,
i just got my 1410 and thinking of adding 2GB more memory. can i just plug in kingston or crucial ones and mixes with the existing samsung ram? -
This dealer in Spain: http://www.mcr.com.es/productos_categoria.php?idCategoria=75&idMarca=96
still has announced the 1810TZ (I think is only one of the 2 ones that still have it announced ... the rest has removed it from their catalogues). I did called them (they only sell to shops) and still they did not have information about when it will be available.
Some data: I believe that my 1810T is one of the firts units sold in Spain ... the manufactured date in the back of the netbook says: 2009/08/09 .... so pretty fast from manufacturing to the client !!

Is that the place where bluetooth module should go? Does anyone know what models will fit?

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
-
Because textured plastic sounds like it'd be higher quality than the stuff you'd get with the AO751h, and that plus a dual core would convince me to cancel/sell mine and wait. -
i too am wondering where to get a internal bluetooth for this thing, anyone have any idea

Cha.... Just got back from a vacation where I had almost nil internet. I just checked my emails and amazon still has not shipped mah Acer. I played with one at a local staples though!

mmm now imma have to wait for the TZ model to get to the USA.

Looks sort of similar. It does seem like the bluetooth module has to be a bit longer and narrower on the 1410, but it might be just because the angle of view is different.

Question
Has someone installed Windows 7 on 1410/1810t and performed a Windows Experience Index benchmark? Can you please post the results so that we can compare it to Phil's Vista Index?
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_YVX3WS5wvzY/SoWCwQqsELI/AAAAAAAAAAw/32dOHK5trRc/s1600-h/WEI.jpg
I've found an 1810tz(su4100) Win7 benchmark score yesterday, which seems to be rather low:
I wonder if it is a Win7 phenomenon. Thanks in advance. -
i still dont see why they dont put the ion on the timeline. it would be a great graphic boost and great with the culv
-
-
der mali, the 1810tz(su4100) Win7 benchmark shows it only has 2gb of ram installed which is most likely putting it into single channel thus lowering both the memory and video scores. Did Phil add another stick of ram to his before getting his windows vista score or is that with one 2gb stick as well?
-
@dasfool
Phil had only 2GB, too. Especially the CPU score 3.5 vs. 3.9 makes me believe that there is something wrong. -
Some of you folks want to know that Vista & Sys7 Performance Ratings are not comparable.
From Paul Thurrott's SuperSite for Windows....
"In Microsoft's bizarre (Win7) rating system, components can achieve a score of between 1.0 and 7.9. In Windows Vista, this range extended only to 5.9, but Microsoft says it has increased the range due to the evolution of hardware capabilities in the time since Windows Vista was released. Equally bizarre, Microsoft has actually changed how it rates hardware since Windows Vista, so identical hardware components could actually receive different subscores on each OS, making Vista-to-Windows 7 comparisons impossible." -
Good to know, yus9
Actually I don't give a damn about WEI anyway, but unfortunately it's the only way to categorize 1810tz for now. If I knew Chinese I would just ask for something else on their board, but that's impossible.
So please someone post a 1410/1810t Win7 WEI score -
Add to that that some faster components sometimes score lower than slower components, WEI scores have very little relevance.
But in the absence of any other benchmarks it's all we have. It would be interesting to knw the Passmark CPU Mark for SU2300 and SU4100. -

@ Cusem and all other who are not satisfied with the fan behavior of the 1810T:
First of all, I like the 1810T a lot, but it is clearly too loud in if you do not use it in battery mode.
Here are the fan modes:
0x01 for the slowest setting (which is pretty silent).
0x03 for the middle mode (quite noisy in silent rooms).
0x05 for the highest mode.
[0x02 and 0x04 also seem to have a function, but they show almost the same behavior like 0x03.]
This is what "fan modes finder" (from the SmartFan 1.16 directory) displays under "fan register value". I suppose these values are correct, because if you for example set the fan to the lowest settings 0x01 while its running in 0x03 mode the fan slows down to this quite mode for about two seconds and under "fan register value" the 0x01 value is displayed. But the bios/fan control overrides your manual settings directly so the fan is automatically set back to the preprogrammed settings by Acer, in my example 0x03, which can also be seen under "fan register value". (This is what cusem described when he spoke about "the fan stops and speeds up again".)
You can avoid this behavior by clicking the "set mode" button every second. Then the fan keeps running in 0x01 silent mode.
So conclusion is to have a modification of the smartfan utility which keeps sending the right signal every second... -
FYI, the Packard Bell version with SU3500 (which should be identical to this) is now available in Sweden. A poster at Sweclockers saw it at MediaMarkt in Malmö. Too bad it probably has the 4400mAh battery though.

@dirgro
Did you try setting up a scheme in SmartFan?
FanModes isn't meant to be a fan controlling tool, it's just there to test modes.
For trying your modes open options.ini
and change values like this:
[General]
Use_Alternate_Control=1
[Modes]
Auto=0x00
Stop=0xCF
Slow=0x03
Medium=0x03
High=0x05
Save options.ini, start SmartFan, right click on SmartFan in the system tray, select Fan Modes, select Slow and check if it stays at that speed or defaults to BIOS control.
