I like the looks of the black one. Seems more traditional to me.

I think I'll take the black version and add a carbon fiber foil to the lid. I've got a brown Aspire One right now and the fingerprints are extremely annoying. Jkk has added such a foil to his Asus T91 and it looks quite ok IMO.

I too hate the fingerprints on these glossy finishes. I really with they would use matte finishes on all laptops.

Haha same. Unfortunately, I think the American release will just miss the Back-to-School rush this year :(

I'm settling for a slower, heavier, and cheaper 3810TZ, but I just don't understand why Acer didn't release the 1810T in time for BTS season. Those sly folks probably just wanna milk the other Timeline models some more...

I don't think that's the way Acer works. If they release the 1810T sooner, they will eat marketshare from so many other brands netbooks and ultraportables.

Artificially delaying it would have terrible financial impact.

And again Acer is the first to come to the market with an 11.6" CULV. They beat every manufacturer.

If they could release it even sooner, they would.

Is there any place on the Web where the Ukranians have posted a hands-on for the 1810T? IF so, please post a link. Thanks.

Meh, I still think that until they release the dual core version you'll need to have either a desktop or a C2D laptop as well as the 1810t. So, for the BTS market it probably isn't that big of deal for them.

With school coming up soon, a computer company would be crazy to purposely hold back on a laptop's release until after school started. It just wouldn't happen. If it's ready for release, it'll be released.

Its not the same keyboard... they have a rough finish and also the page up/down is above the arrow keys... its the keyboard from the AO751 ...

the original TL keys on the bigger boxes are glossy !!

    http://benyouhui.it168.com/thread-983247-1-1.html

    Edit:
    1410t vs. Vaio TT
(1410t is the same as 1810t except CPU, which is the weaker single core Celeron 723 CULV)
    http://benyouhui.it168.com/thread-980616-1-1.html

A very relieving insight from this comparison:
    The 1410t DDR2 SDRAM outperforms Vaio TT's DDR3 SDRAM !!
A phenomenon related to slower timings on DDR3, I suppose.

I was worried that Acer's decision to use DDR2 in the 11.6" version as opposed to DDR3 in 13.3" and above would create a bottleneck ;)

Yeah DDR2 vs. DDR3 as main memory doesn't influence real world performance in any notebook.

And DDR2 tends to be cheaper.

i just saw 1810T in Acer store in chiangmai /thailand/. They received the first three pieces of this product, the version with 2GB RAM and 320GB HD. The price including TAX = 26.500BHT which is roughly 780 USD. Quite Pricey.

I took a brief look and...what a nice pice of hardware! I guess I will grab one in a month, maybe price will go bit lower until then

    cheers!

sorry, i haven't seen it running so don't know. I looked at it very briefly, checked actually only one thing - if the battery sticks out at the back but it doesn't at all! it looks exactly like on the pics from this thread.

BTW, the laptop was not on display in store so i had to kindly ask them to unpack completely new one for me which they've done pretty reluctantly :)
And few minutes after, one of the them was sold to some lucky thai couple. They took the black version. So RED and BLUE are still on stock guys! :)

    cheers

How much do the other Timelines (3810T, 4810T, etc.) cost there? I'm trying to get a better estimate of the price when it gets released here.

Of course prices in Europe are different than in US. But using the difference between 3810T and 1810T he can estimate the price of the 1810T in US (or anywhere else).

Not always true... prices are what ever the local Acer thinks it can gain from the market, Acer Europe has nothing to do with the way the Americans price their products.. purely a local thing

Sony Vaio's are cheaper than in the US here, even though Higher Spec'ed...

Also Acer USA has still not released all the models of the 38/48 so you cant really compare as just the upgrade from the Solo to Duo chip can reverse the tables..

So me thinks that just quoting a price in Euro's without warning the reader that they contain a large TAX, ant really helping any one to understand, any time I have seen the Euro price quoted here on NB, you always get some
American stating that that's too expensive...

chiangmai pricing in Thailand, straight from Acer brochure:
    3810T with SU9400, Intel 4500HD, 1150$
    3810T with SU3500 base model, 880$
    3810T with SU2700, 790$
    1810T with SU3500, 780$
    1410 with Celeron723 1.2Ghz, 585$
    751H with Z520 1.33Ghz, 530$

Note that prices do not include 7% VAT. However fortunately when you leave the country you get rembursement at the airport easily. But in general I must say im quite dissapointed with Acer Timeline pricing over here. Wondering how much would it cost in HongKong, usually the best place for shopping around Asia? ANyone have a clue??
However you can recently find a nice deals for model 751, a week ago the costed 600$ and dropped to 530$ this weekend, and sometimes they also give free external DVD. They obviously clearing out the stocks as the new models entered the market ((1810T, 1410)

    I want 1810T! But with U.S. pricing! Daaaamn :)

    cheers!

So surprised to see this new model on store shelves in Taiwan.
Seems to be the 1810T with a slower 1.2 processor.

All computers are very expensive here..
like 25% to 35% more than in the US.
The Taiwan price is 22,600NT which is $690 US.

Link is to a dealer's page with a photo and specs.
    LINK

BTW. There was an Acer a few years ago with the same 1410 model number.
So be sure to use the "722G25N" for web searches.
