Is there any way to make the wireless light to stop blinking when browsing?
-
Can you try using WMP12? That fixed all sync issues for me.
-
I hope there is a functional port as I just purchased what I believe to be the proper internal BT module based on some posts here. I am still not sure where the port is located inside the case, but, when the BT module arrives, I will crack it open and take a look.
-
@Mark_S
Here you can see where the port is:

I've googled around, and I've found the BlueTooth module shown on the Chinese pictures.
It's a BCM92046. It seems to match perfectly with the blurry picture.
If you google "DELL J613H" or "DELL J613H cable" you'll find several sellers on ebay.
The cable included with the dell module looks the same as the acer one, but as there's no clear pic of the connector, I can't be certain. -
I don't get it why people go through all the trouble to fit these internal bluetooth modules? Why not pop in a USB bluetooth dongle? Cheaper, simpler and most of all no risk involved taking the laptop apart...
Really, can someone explain? -
I had a 1101HA. The overclocking function is really cool. But the fan makes more noise than 1410 and the display is not bright enough. Eeectl does not work for the backlight.
Cause you need to use WMP 12 in Windows 7. (like I already told you!
)
For $2 you can buy a small USB dongle at Dealextreme.com, that's so small you won't even notice it.
I agree with you but I can understand some people want it internal and don't want to sacrifice a USB port. -
Just check Timeline Tweaks, no need to do double the work
A big advantage of an internal module is that you have a dedicated switch to turn it on and off. But I agree, a micro dongle is cheaper and easier to use. -
-
Hmm, just to get all bits together here regarding internal ports.
What kind of internal port is used for the bluetooth dongle? Is is not occupied by defult?
I would be interested in getting a 3G dongle internally also. Are there plans for this from Acer in the 1810 model as a future addition? The free pci-e port that is on Phil's pictures, is it possible to solder a pci port there and stick the dongle in there? -
@StotyStoty
Oops, I'm sorry
I forgot to add that other quote from saltyf in the tweaks thread.

FANFAIRS! It´s on stock now, i already ordered one

@icefiresr
Congratulations!
Get your benchmark software ready. You are the 1810tz pioneer and you have to feed us with info
-
well i called the shop and got a 10 Euro discount only for saying, that somewhere else they got it cheaper
-
It's basically an internal USB port with a properietary connector.
No need to use a pci-e port.
You can't buy it from Acer, but you can probably use the Dell one mentioned a few posts earlier. -
one more thing -this machine has in-build BT right?
-
Not every model.
The specifications on the shop you linked say that yours does have bluetooth.
(Though it may be wrong) -
I guess Asian version (1810TZ) comes with original sleeve in the box.
check this out... (page #10)

Well I got my 1410 (american version). Sadly it comes with nothing that the euro version has, (8 hour battery, bluetooth, 3g, etc.) But anyways I tried to open the thing up, got all the screws out and couldnt figure out how to get the topside of the laptop apart. I can open the front of the laptop up a bit but i get snagged on something and I still haven't figured out how to get around it. Any ideas, or guides?
-
Well, my 2x2GB DDR2-800 kit that I ordered from Newegg on Thursday just arrived. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting on the 1410 I ordered from J&R on the 29th of August to arrive.
I assume UPS is going to knock on my door at 9pm tonight, the same way that they always do with ground shipping. I wish UPS could be a bit quicker, but I guess that's what you get with cheap shipping.
I continue to wait... -
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Guess you didn't read the thread. 1810 versions will have 8 hour battery, bluetooth, and 3g. -
You have to push away the plastic noses that hold the keyboard(use two credit cards, one to lift the keyboard slightly and the other to gently push in the noses). Disconnect the keyboard- and touchpad ribbon. Remove all screws underneath the keyboard. Put a credit card in the gap between upper and lower case and carefully slide around from one edge to the other with the credit card.
Not all European versions have 3G. There is a special 3G version that costs 100€ more than the standard version. -
I have my electronics come to by company instead of my home. UPS, FEDEx, etc, all send to businesses first before they start delivering to residences.
-
Nice!!!!
Any idea if this is coming to the US?
-
Most likely there will be a dual core version coming to the US.
Czech republic (of all places
) got it first. Here in the Netherlands there is no sign at all.
-
I should have had it delivered to my office, now that I think about it. Fed Ex arrives to me at my home at 9:45 am. They arrive at the office at 11 am. UPS has shown up before at 10pm at my house, but get there at noon at my office.
You are probably correct that at a commercial site it gets delivered quickly, though. I used to hate UPS, once they stopped advertising on Glen Beck and the entire Fox network, I've started trying to like them better. My business goes to people with integrity. -
I'm pretty sure it's been spoken about before, but any idea on how much in US dollars?
-
It will depend on the specs, but give or take $525 for an 1410 with dual core.
-
Wow, only $75 more? That would be great, considering I held off on getting the 1410.
-
Hmm, actually that works. Weird. It was having a sync issue yesterday; maybe the reboot helped. MPC HC is still not synced properly, but WMP 12 plays them perfectly, even on battery. Thanks!
I'd wager at least $549 for the dual core. -
Yah, I just installed Win7 yesterday, after fussing around with CoreAVC and MPC-HC and losing sync on a few files, I decided to just try WMP12. Worked like a charm. Only thing I don't like is that MPC seems to have more options and functionality.
For example, one of my movies is the Empire Strikes Back, but it's split up into 2 movies. even if I started with the second file, MPC-HC would know that I wanted to watch the whole movie, and start from the beginning. It would also have a seamless transition between one file to the next while playing. For all intents and purposes, the two files behaved as one for MPC-HC. This is not the case with WMP12. Even if I add it to the playlist so that one video file plays after the other, there's a little break. A minor annoyance, but one nonetheless. -
Thanks for the help! Now i see where the bluetooth goes and will pursue putting in an internal module. Can't wait to see some pics of the 3g module to see about getting one of those. Next I need to spend some time figuring out if you can add a pci-e port to the mobo since there is an empty spot for one.
-
This is interesting indeed. There is talk about future flash player to support broadcom HD accelerator add on mini-PCIe cards. A functional slot would come in handy then.
-
Isn't there also talk of VGA accelerated Flash by the end of the year?
-
Yes, Nvidia GPUs might get acceleration through CUDA. I don't know about Intel's IGPs.
-
Oh, damnit. Then I guess the Broadcom HD addon isn't so superfluous afterall. Damn you!
-
I just got one and WOW it's tiny. I love the weight.
One thing I've noticed though is that my number nine key doesn't work. Other numbers and letters work fine though. Other than that I really like it. I hate the idea that I may have to send it back over a key not working. -
well i took the 1410 apart and one thing is very clear, there is no easy way to do a post buy 3g addon. Everything is missing, the circuit is there but none of the components are there. Next up, seeing if you can replace the webcam with something less ty and seeing if the circuit is intact for the pci-e slot.
-
Can you please elaborate further? Which circuit are you talking about? Afaik the 3G version uses a standard mini-PCIe card. There are 3G cards with included SIM slot, so a MOD would be not that hard, I suppose.
Edit:
The modding procedure should be similar to Tankgrl's Aspire One MOD. She used the onboard SIM slot and added the missing components. Using a 3G card with built-in SIM slot requires a bit less work.
http://tnkgrl.wordpress.com/2008/10/28/modding-the-acer-aspire-one-hsdpa/#more-577 -
it seems that all the resistors and stuff around the sim slot are not there, i didn't spend more than 30 seconds looking at it but if the resistors are important to the sim card it wont work.
-
I like this machine, other than the broken number nine. I had to use character map to copy it so I could give myself an IP address from the router. Quite annoying. I am going to try reseating the keyboard cable before I send it back.
-
I doubt reseating the cable will work, I think you've got a faulty kbd with a broken 9 key, Just send it back for a replacement.
-
Probably so. I feel like a kid with a new toy, though, and I don't want to wait for them to replace it, though a key not working is kind of a problem
EDIT: Yeah, it has to go back. Five and seven don't work either after a reboot
. Apparently this one has a dislike of odd numbers - 6 and 8 work.
-
well i'm thinking of getting this , the gateway lt3103u or the wind u210. Does anyone know how this stacks up in the gaming department
-
In Windows 7 with latest Intel graphics drivers, when the laptop is plugged in, I can play older Half-life titles just fine. Unreal Tournament 2004 @ 1024x768 32-bit ranges between 30-50 FPS. Old FPS games like Age of Empires 2 run great.
-
lt3103u is simply inferior in every way, so don't bother.
wind u210 uses Neo MV-40, which was used by HP back in April. http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4963. Overall looks like a power hungry CPU (hence the 5200mAh battery) which may have comparable performance as SU3500. Of note is the AMD RS690 chipset, which is intended to be a desktop chipset with low power usage. It's possible this machine may have great graphics capability.
I would guess the battery life can be worse than the 5 hours suggested, but still can't wait to see a full benchmark/review. -
Even though Intel has yet to formally announce the SU4100 that we've seen in the AS1810TZ, Dell started selling 2 full size notebooks using this and other unannounced core2duo culv processors. I don't think the actual speeds, cache levels, and relative pricing were generally known before this.
Hopefully the performance is there if Dell is confident in tossing these chips into full size notebooks. Here's hoping the 1810TZ is $500!

Don't know about the Wind U210, but the MSI Wind12 U200 with a 12.1" display compares pretty well with the 1810T.
It comes with both the Intel 723 & the SU3500 CPUs.
But stay away from the notoriously slow 723 processor. -
put on the 3113 bios update today, no issues so far.
-
see i'm hearing the intel chip in the acer sucks. I wish there were more reviews out there for this stuff
