Its $399.99 + tax after a $50 Instant Rebate. They started carrying this from 2 weeks ago at my Local BJs in Orlando, FL.

I've run a few memtests over the last few days with the 4gb in and got zero errors every time so I'm 99.999% sure the ram is ok. I've had bad ram before and memtest finds it immediately. I uninstalled a sidebar gadget I was using to keep track of cpu load, memory use, battery life, and wireless strength and haven't had any freezes lately. I'll let you know if that ends up being the culprit.

Thanks guys, I just installed Windows 7 via USB, like explained. Shrunk the C: partition, created the new one and put Windows 7 there. Now, I have a question about win 7 key and activation. After instalation I tried to activate it with the numbers from Vista Home Premium (btw, I installed Win7 Home Premium), but no luck. I then found some post where someone suggested that there should be some 'upgrade key'? Where do I get that?
-
What do you mean by freeze? Like, you have to hold the power down for 10 secs to shut down then restart? Or it just stops for a minute or two then comes back?
I get the latter sometimes on weaker machines on battery. Is it happening while you are actually using the computer, or after you come back? Are you doing anything intensive?
Try to give the exact conditions when it happens to see if it is repeatable by a certain process or something. Or since RAM doesn't appear to be the issue, just do a clean install
I know some Korean. Is there a specific part you wanted translated? There's way too much for me to do it all. Unless you want to pay me
-
You either have to wait for your upgrade key in October (which could be a long wait and activation only waits 3 days, although I saw that there was some way around this) or get keys from Microsoft Tech Net (or a friendly IT professional).
-
Do I have to order the whole thing here http://acer.com/windows7upgrade/ or I can get only the upgrade key?
What did others that installed Windows 7 do? -
It's a hard freeze. I have to hold the power for 10 seconds to get control again.
-
Most people on here probably used TechNet subscriptions to get keys. PM me and I'll give you more details.
-
How did you get Win7 to install on a 32bit Vista installation like the 1410 has? I am running the 64bit Win 7 on my Asus, but didn't think I could put it on my 1410.
-
I did a fresh install of 64 bit Win7 on the 1410 NOT an upgrade from Vista.
-
I don't remember seeing that option, but I've got Win 7 burned onto a disc.
-
If you followed my instructions, I did note that if you go the Win 7 Home Premium route, you will have to run slmgr -rearm every 30 days to delay activation. I think the max you can do this is 3x = 120 days of running in Home Premium mode. If you reinstall in Win 7 Ultimate mode, you can run it possibly until June 2010, although it will start facing restrictions in March 2010. Installing in Win 7 Ultimate mode will allow you to activate using the Win 7 RC Ultimate key you probably got from Microsoft during the sign up process.
As someone else pointed out, if you go to Acer's site you can get a free Windows 7 upgrade CD/DVD - Acer will send you the media and a license key for Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit edition for free (in the US) or you pay only shipping. You will at that point have to upgrade your Vista partition or do a clean install. AFAIK, you cannot upgrade from Windows 7 RC to the version released in October. -
set the drive as boot device and will now install 7 64 bit.

Hello to every one in the Timeline Gang
. I really love this thread and have learned more about the 1810TZ in 3hrs than I'd have learned through trial and error in the same amount of time. I know that the system can support up to 8GB of RAM running @ either DDR2-800 ---or DDR3-1066--- speeds. (
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5268459&postcount=1426 (Thanks skyhawk21)) What I was wondering is has anyone been crazy enough to try maxing out the RAM and seeing how the stability of the system is affected if at all? The reason I'm asking is for this:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=64281&p=2 (look for apaige's posts)
as well as allow for extra power consumption savings from under-volting/underclocking the processor/chipsets and to support any number of virtual hosts that I may may run at any one time. I'll have to wait until I can get the computer though as I live in Canada (not to mention the lack of funds atm
) but it would be awesome to know that I'm not the only one crazy enough to try it (much less use it everyday
)
On another note, for those who have tried any Linux distro on the 1410/1810T, how well does it perform? Is everything supported or am I looking at doing some fun tweaks to get certain peripherals (webcam, BT, 3G) working?
One last question for those who took a chance at playing with the Wi-Fi, does the firmware allow for the control over the power output of the card?
I know for the Atheros chipset based cards, the madwifi drivers are on the ball for that.
Regards,
Soul_Est -
It doesn't support DDR3 dunno how many times it's been mentioned now.
-
Sorry about my ignorance on that.
-
Ok, do u have ur TZ allredy? How is it?
Just cant wait tomorrow to get my own
Edit: Hey, does it matter if I use laptop when charging it for first time or should i let it to charge full before starting use it? -
I just installed a clean install of win 7 32 on my 1410T. Are the drivers automatically installed or do I have to install some Acer drivers? If I do which ones?
Thanks -
It doesn't matter. The battery should already be charged out of the box, mine was around 95% IIRC
@schenky
Check Timeline Tweaks for some hints. -
I either don't know how to send you a PM or I do not have the privileges to do it since I'm a newbie
Be a pal and send me a PM, I hope I can receive it
-
It's a shame, after downloading this clip only takes this much time to play with WMP.
-
Yep, flash player is crap.
-
Did you guys notice the pictures on page 2?
http://yongsub.textcube.com/?page=2
Amazing! -
Yep, great p0rn
-
FYI, ordering the media/key from the Acer website doesn't cost anything, at least in the US (free media/free shipping). Worldwide, you'll have to pay shipping...not sure of the range for what that might cost.
-
(Previous notice here at NBR, & now this from Acer's US website.)
OK...now I'm getting really confused with the introduction of this new Acer Ferrari 11.6".
Anyone know about this AMD CPU? Equal to the SU4100?
The Acer Ferrari One is driven by the AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core L310 low-power CPU, DDR2 800 MHz, and AMD HyperTransport™ 3.0 technology
Up to 4GB of DDR2 667MHZ ram. Installed 64bit Win7 Home Premium or HB.
ATiRadeon™ HD 3200 Graphics provides high-definition image quality
802.11a/b/g/Draft-N Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ network connection.
Bluetooth 2.1+EDR.
Depending on specs, the Ferrari is 3G-ready for maximum connectivity. -
The Win 7 drivers should work right away although I would update most of them based on Timeline Tweaks on this board (first page). Things you can update include display, NIC, Wi-FI, etc.
-
Neo X2. Weaker and more power hungry than most Intel dual cores.
The GPU is stronger than Intel though. If you're into gaming it's a good choice. -
Does anyone know, if it is possible to boot from the internal sd-slot?
-
Yes
Stick your bootable SD card in the slot, turn on the 1410, start tapping F12 as soon as you see the screen light up, choose "USB HDD 'Multicard reader'", and you should be booting from the SD card. -
Ahh, thats good to know. SDHC cards also shouldn't be a problem, right?
-
Right, I'm using an 8GB SDHC.
-
I've just ordered my Windows 7, shipping to Serbia is 14.90 Euros (around 22$). I guess it's OK for a genuine copy of Win7
-
I've managed to undervolt su3500 with RMclock following this guide to unlock all voltages:
But the problem is, that it doesn't use LFM any more. So the lowest speed is 1.2GHz at x6. Does anyone know how to work around this and unlock LFM mode? -
This question is quite specialized. I think it will make more chance for an answer in the hardware section.
More people might be interested in what's written in German. I've never heard of that hack. -
Here's a video about the new Ferrari. The guy says it will cost 499$.
-
Ooooooh yessssss
It works!
I'll post a howto
Edit:
What a joke, it still doesn't work
I don't know what happened. I had CPU-Z open and it showed both the fake x8 mode and x6,x7 with modified voltages after I disabled 'execute Hlt'. Now it's back to x6, x7 only.
-
Mosts online posts say it will be quite a bit more. Ferrari line usually fetches a premium price.
-
€ 550 in Europe usually works out as $550 in US.
-
Yess!
My 1810TZ is here!
If anybody is interested in some benchmarks, I'll be able to run some tomorrow, after I've finished purging Vista from it. -
Can you run Passmark Performance Test while in Vista?
-
Congratulations!!!
We are all waiting for your tests
I sugest you to do the same benchmarks as Phil did with the 1810T, so we could compare the results!
As Phil said, perhaps could be interesting perform some test in Vista, before you change to W7, to compare the Phil results in the same operating system, and then compare it in W7 if you agree. -
I can test with vista when I have my laptop tomorrow
-
I've ordered mine today too (SU4100). Next week some shops will have the SU3500 but I will have to wait 2 or 3 weeks more to achieve the SU4100
Wich color did you bought it? I'm wondering if red is less finger-attracting than black
We are waiting for your test to compare it with the 1810T. Thanks to both !! -
Where did you order it from marse? I should have mine tomorrow or wednesday, can't wait to be honest, will hopefully be able to make a decent review of it with benchmarks and such before the end of the week if time allows.
-
Which software lets you know what consumption your notebook has?
-
RMClock can show what the power consumption is while on battery.
-
Uuuuh, those tests are greatly appreciated, thanks alot in advance guys!
-
(FYI) There is a tiny software deeply detailed about hardwares also shows your system information.

Hmm that's not bad then for gaming potential. Now if only it had real carbon fibre
