    Sweeet! :D

    Btw, weird things are happening here. I've done some test with undervolting. We will have to wait till the GS45 CULV platform is fully implemented in RMclock to get the full functionality. But it's interesting none the less, that it is possible to undervolt to 0.875V @1.4GHz and the even more interesting thing is, that there is no difference in power consumption between SuperLFM mode and 1.4GHz/0.875V when idle. Might have to do with the processor's sleep states. After all it should win the race to idle at 1.4GHz. I will leave it at that setting for a while and check how battery life evolves.
    To be honest, when staring at the power consumption readings of battery bar, it seems that general power consumption at 1.4GHz is less than at standard power on demand setting. When running at SuperLFM there are spikes in power consumption.
    I suppose that the system demands CPU cycles and the CPU tries to fulfill this at SuperLFM instead of switching to higher frequencies so that it prevents the CPU from reaching deeper sleep states because the performance is crippled at 700MHz/800Mhz with half the FSB clock and it takes longer to fulfill the system's request.
    Edit:
    It's significant! An example:
    I opened that asteroid hd video in firefox and let it buffer to the HDD without playing it.
    @SuperLFM power consumption is around 9.5W
    @1.4GHz/0.875V power consumption is well below 9W

    I'm shocked ehat an utter load of crap the default vista install is!

    I've removed McAfee and Google Desktop, so at least the disk stopped trashing while running the benchmark.

    Everything is default, balanced power settings.

    Here it is:

    Trounces a LT-3103u big time. I'd like to see a su9400 but this looks like enough cpu to get the job done.. Now all we need is a 1410Tz in the states.......... :)

    I am guessing no TZ until late October here in the states (aka after Win7) but we shall see. I am most interested in the bigger battery and this honking CPU. Of course I would also like to find out about battery run time vs the single core. Can you also test that for us? Looks like there will be a 1410 up for sale on eBay after I get my Win7 upgrade disks.

    I kept my 1410 disk pristine and swapped out both memory (now 4 GB 800 Mhz) and disk (now 320 GB 7200 rpm drive) so it should be easy to sell on eBay with the unactivated Vista and Win7 upgrade. I just need to keep the original box and I bet I will get pretty close to retail.

    So here's a real world test of my AS1410.

    Configuration: 4400mah battery, 3gb ram, Corair 128GB SSD, Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

    I can get exactly 5 hours of complete usage on power saving mode. 2nd notch from lowest screen brightness. Volume max. Wifi on and connected to 2 remote desktop sessions one for work and one for my home pc along with firefox and Live messenger running. Constantly using local machine and the 2 remote systems throughtout this test. Lower than I expected. Will try again when my 5600mah battery arrives.

    Ordered it online from this site:

    It's not an OEM battery so I won't know the quality till I get it.

    So all 1410 models have 4400mah batteries and 1810s have 5600mah batteries?

    I'm a bit behind on this great thread, what are the benchmarks for the 5600mah battery on the single or dual core models? How much difference should there be between the single-core SU3500 and dual-core SU4100 processors?

    Please do a test of it as soon as you get it/can do it. I'm very very interested. IS that the only site you could find that sold it? Or did you buy from them because you're in Australia?

    Be aware of Acer's previous "Aspire 1410" model with a 5600mah battery of a few years ago. :eek: :eek: Many 5600mah replacement batteries found online fit the older 14" or 15" Acer 1410. See the thumbnail.

    That battery seems like the right one though since it specifically mentions the 1810T. Once we get confirmation that it works and doesn't explode I may order one of these myself.

    Hi Guys. Just to report. The 5600mah battery arrived at my door just now. It is OEM!!! I compared the 2 batteries and all the stickers and manufacturing labels are exactly the same. Will be charging this puppy after my 4400mah finishes charging.

    Is there a battery model number on it or anything?

    Of course, there will be overclocking as well, right?

    Now we just hafta wait. Would love to get a recap of which countries this thing is available in.
    Did I understand Sweden and Korea, or something?

    Yeah, I think this means it's available in Korea. That price translates to about $840 USD though... Which is frankly ridiculous. If it were 600-650, I would give serious though to buying it. Especially since I have family over there.

    Just noticed the new Asus UL20 12.1" soon to be available...
    "with a selection of three CPUs,
    the Intel Celeron Processor SU2300/743 1.2GHz,
    the Intel Core 2 Solo Processor SU3500 1.4GHz,
    and the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor SU7300 1.3GHz. :eek:
    Paired with the Intel GS45 chipset and integrated GMA 4500MHD graphics."

    Should the article have said SU4100?
    Or do I now need to wait for this new Asus?

    I'm a sucker for brushed aluminum plus its a more attractive notebook.
    Hoping its close to $500.

    This is very good. Better than I expected. SU9400 gets 920 CPU Mark iirc.

    Seems completely normal to me. You should get 6 hours with light usage.

    -SU7300 is a CULV CPU too.
    -Depends. The Asus will be significantly more expensive.

    I agree; it's definitely nicer. However, I wouldn't expect a low price.

    Here the UL20A with the SU7300 is listed for 31900 TWD, which according to google is equivalent to 978$.

    Prices cannot be directly converted, but that seems way to far from 500$.

    I'd guess that the cpu was not loaded when the benchmark queried the clock, so power management clocked it down.

    Or it just can't get an accurate reading of the clock. This cpu was officially announced something like a week ago.

    @StotyStoty
    Thanks a bunch for the benchmarks :)
    You should install Battery Bar(see Timeline Tweaks) to get a proper battery life estimation. If you hover over the icon in the taskbar with your mouse, it shows momentary power consumption. It would be nice to know the peak values of power consumption when doing certain tasks. For example when watchin this video in HD:

    I've installed Windows 7 32 bit on my 1810tz

    Two snags I've run into:

    The wifi driver is 5100/5300 but Intel Wi-Fi Link 1000
    The intel matrix driver seems to hang booting for about one minute

    In the passmark benchmark every score is a bit higher than in vista, except for the graphics score, which is significantly lower.

    Does anyone have any idea why ?

    The 2d slow down is due to these tests:

    Vista:

    Graphics 2D - Solid Vectors: 1.9
    Graphics 2D - Transparent Vectors: 1.9
    Graphics 2D - Complex Vectors: 50.8

    W7

    Graphics 2D - Solid Vectors: 0.7
    Graphics 2D - Transparent Vectors: 0.7
    Graphics 2D - Complex Vectors: 42.7

    the rest of the scores, as well as the 3d ones are higher, so it seems unlikely to cause real-world performance problems

    @ StotyStoty, Passmark scores between Vista and Windows 7 can not be compared.

    PS. please edit your last post instead of posting twice in row.

    I've attached the screenshot.

    As far as I can see the video was perfect. (Apart from the content, Discovery should change its name to Armageddon Channel, but I digress)

    The screen brightness is set to max.

    That's impressive! su3500 set to high performance mode, no undervolting, max backlight is just 2.5W less. It's in Vista though, and it's without being fully buffered.

    That's another proof that Intel's TDP are off. According to the TDP it should be 4.5 watt difference.

    @Phil
    The processor load is just 70% on su4100 on su3500 it's 100%, so there is still room left. The TDP is for the worst case scenario with every chip component at max load.

    Edit:
    I've checked again after the vid had been fully buffered like in StotyStoty's example and the difference is around 3.5W now. When buffering the HDD adds too much to power consumption, I suppose.

    I know, but pushing it too 100% is not going cause 2 watt extra load, I expect.

    But this may be the wrong example. TDP of 5.5watt vs. 10 watt doesn't seem far off.

    Nice to see another Hungarian on board :D I was among the first ones to get the 1810T, and now another customer from the same country seems to get the 1810TZ first. And of course care to write about it here :D

    Hi, I'm new and I'm here because I recently bought an Aspire 1410 as well. So, I'm here to join the fun.

    Anyways, I'm here to ask for a favor. I did a clean install with a normal Vista upgrade DVD and use ABR to restore the activation. Everything worked out well, however I was not able to install the eRecovery application from the application restore DVD for the Acer 1410 I've burned. It pop out some error like "application -6" or something. I did not wipe out my eRecovery partition when I did my clean install.

    So, I was wondering maybe it's looking for an Acer computer to allow the installation. My only thought is getting the OEMInformation registry back to what it was before, but I never got a chance to jot it down. Can someone provide the OemInformation so maybe I can get the eRecovery installation to work? Thanks.

    Please open regedit and look for:
    It's something like this in the registry:
    --------------------------------------------
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OEMInformation]
    "Logo"="C:\\Windows\\acer\\acerlogo.bmp"
    "Manufacturer"="Acer Incorporated"
    "Model"="Acer xxxxxxxx"
    "SupportHours"="xxx"
    "SupportPhone"="xxxxxxx"
    "SupportURL"="Http://www.acer.com"
    ---------------------------------------------

    Please post it as it is, off your registry, thank you.

    hi to all and BIG thanx for plenty informations about acer 1810t(z) model.

    i've been "monitoring" this topic from the begining and finally decided to register. my current laptop is 5 years old gericom blockbuster and now i'm looking for something portable. my wish list include something light, powerfull with solid graphic, long battery life (min 6h) and max 12" screen.

    for now only choice is acer 1810tz with su4100. i'll be watching for this thread in the future to see some benchmarks for that model with hopes to see this model in croatia soon.

    kind regards... :)

    I did a full factory restore on my 1410. I uninstalled all of the gamezone garbage, mcaffee, etc. I installed Avira and Firefox (also adblock plus and tabmixplus plugins). That's all, and I got my first system freeze this morning. I'm really at a loss here. I guess I'll try the old ram again, even though the 4gb I have in there now passed many memtests.

    What do you all think about Acer's reliability? Build quality seems reasonably good, but I have a feeling if I type a ton on this keyboard I might need a new one down the road (some flex). But keyboards aren't too expensive.

    I'm debating about the extended warranty options if I plan to keep this unit more than a year. But then I planned to keep my Asus 1000HE, also, but technology advanced a lot in 6 months. Anyway, I'm liking my 1410 a lot so far. I got an email from Acer about two warranty extension options. I think they have to be purchased/activated within 30 days of purchase.

    1) 2 Year Extended Warranty $99 US

    * Two Additional years of mail-in or carry-in service & toll free technical support (three years total)
    * 100% coverage on parts and labor**
    * Free shipping back to you [I have to pay shipping to them]

    2) 3 Year Total Protection Bundle $199 US

    Get Total Protection against accidental damage (misuse or abuse excluded). This plan covers the cost of a replacement unit if your notebook cannot be repaired.

    * Three years of Total Protection - Accidental damage coverage
    * Two Additional years of mail-in or carry-in service & toll free technical support (three years total)
    * 100% coverage on parts and labor**
    * Free shipping both ways - from you to the repair center, and back to you

    I'm debating cost of this vs. insuring the laptop through my regular insurance against damage (have to check deductible, etc). I paid ~$350 for the 1410 so I have to factor that in as well. $200 is > 50% of what I paid, though about 40-45% of list price.

    Anyone gotten an extended Acer warranty or had to deal with their customer service? I've seen mixed reviews online. Thanks!

    2 year warranty is a good idea for any brand in my opinion. And I agree about the keyboard, I'm not to sure of what will happen after extensive use.

    Thing is, I rarely keep my notebooks for one year so I've never bought extended warranty.

    Acer's warranty options are non-transferable, so it wouldn't be a selling point, either, correct, if I decided to upgrade down the road?

    I returned to work after my holidays and had the 1810T in use for two days now. This is my experience so far:

    * The notebook is a real head turner in our conference room (it's a ruby red one)
    * co workers, who give typing classes, gave the keyboard a thumbs up, because it is pretty big compared to other netbooks
    * the keyboard is pretty silent, because nobody noticed me typing throughout the conference
    * battery life leaves my co workers baffled, because i haven't connected the machine to a power supply yet and I have plenty of battery life left (bluetooth & WiFi turned off, energy savings to "high")
    * I assume I can get about 10 to 11 hours out of a battery with those settings
