I have no problems playing Lady Gaga HD video on full screen on my TZ! Running win7
-
Rub it in for the people who don't have it yet...
-
Thanks. Rep +1.
How about the Asteroid HD clip?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zvCUmeoHpw -
I can confirm this as well.
It plays fine and I never noticed any hiccups.
Specifics:
CPU usage: 70% minimum, peaking at 92% at one point, 83% average. Using IE and running spotify, windows live and avast! in the background.
edit; running Vista 32-bit -
Tried it now with only avast and msn running.
Cpu usage: 60-~80% but I still found laggy, compared to the Lady Gaga video where I did not notice any lag at all. It gets especially laggy when the lava engulfs the earth and it becomes a great ball of fire. It feels like it's more of a problem with the video than with the hardware, it feels a bit laggy on my desktop as well and it's not a bad one...
OS: Vista 32-bit -
That Asteroid video clip is even a big laggy on my Dual-Core Overclocked 3.2 GHz Desktop with 2 SLI NVidia 8800 GTS 512 MB video cards so I think the clip is a bit non-representative. The clip produces quite a bit of CPU load on one core but the other is much less. I assume that YouTube HD is very non-optimized for GPUs.

Overvolt with rm clock?
Anyone managed to overclock the su4100?
What fsb does the su 4100 have?
if its 667 i probleby shold be easy to hardware it to 800mhz
and have anyone tried to play heroes of newearth on the 1810tz?
Is it availible in any other colour then grey/black?? -
RMC can only use voltages the system already supports and 0.9V is the highest. Maybe I'll check if it is possible to do a hardware MOD.
su4100 has 800MHz FSB too. -
@der_mali
I am trying to run SmartFan on my 1410 using your ini file. Does it work for both battery mode and plugged in? A little confused about that distinction. -
95% - 98% and a little laggy but watchable, on google chrome, 1410, windows 7 32-bit.
-
Thanks for testing guys. That will do.
-
USB floppy drives are pretty cheap.
-
I've scoped out the 1410 after going through a few rounds of Notebook Creep. I've just got a few questions before pulling the trigger on this one.
1. What are the stock memory timings for the 2GB stick that's in there? I'm looking at picking up 5-5-5-15 memory and if the stuff that's in there is CAS5 I might as well get 2 2GB sticks and sell the original memory. Stock is CAS5, thanks der_mali! (Also I was wrong the DDR2-667 I was looking at was 4-4-4-12 G.Skill but the DDR2-800 is 5-5-5-15 G.Skill)
2. The memory question brings me to supported frequency...the GS45 chipset specs on Intel's site show that the DDR2 version supports DDR2-667 and DDR2-800. Has anyone tried tossing in DDR2-800 memory and see if it boots with those ratings? Or is it hard-limited to DDR2-667? DDR2-800 IS supported and boosts GMA4500 performance...thanks again der_mali!
And finally, the battery. I've spent at least an hour going through this thread - the joys of two revisions with two different batteries, not to mention recycling the old 1410 model number has confused me. I've seen references to the 5600mAh battery from the 1810T (11.1V/5600mAh/63Wh). However, all searches for the 1410 battery shows a completely different looking model (14.8V/4400mAh/65Wh).
I don't want to end up spending almost $100 on a battery I can't use
So...
3a. Is the OEM 1410 battery 11.1V/4400mAh? Yes, thanks Mikroft!
3b. Can someone with the US 1410 confirm that 1810T battery (from here) works in their 1410? Yes, thanks Mikroft!
3c. Is the 14.8V/4400mAh different looking battery I keep seeing from the OLD 1410 that I can ignore? Yes, thanks Mikroft!
I'm planning on throwing in a 320GB 7200rpm drive with (eventually) Windows 7 x64, and dual-booting [k]ubuntu to get my Linux knowledge back up to speed (haven't rolled a linux system since the old Slackware 2.0.30 kernel days). If I really like Win7 on here I'll kill linux for it and put it on an Inspiron C640 I have lying around and maybe get a new battery for it since that thing lasts maybe 20 minutes tops in XP.
Thanks!
Edit: Thanks Mikroft for Battery info, and Thanks der_mali for RAM info! -
I can confirm that the oem 1410 battery is 4400mah.
The 1810T battery fits in the 1410. I have both batteries for my 1410. I was the one that found that site for the 5600mah battery and actually ordered one. My luck I got an OEM acer battery.
Yes the 14.8v is for the old 1410 and should be ignored. -
Fantastic, thanks! If you haven't found any site cheaper than the one that was originally posted, I guess I'll suck it up and deal if the OEM battery doesn't cut it.
Out of curiosity, what battery life were you seeing with the 4400 compared to the 5600?
Thanks again! -
Unfortunately it only supports one profile. My ini works on battery only. I might search the corresponding hex values for AC mode sometime. But either way SmartFan only supports one profile so controlling the fan is tricky. If you forget to set it to auto mode when switching from battery to AC or vice versa it might overheat the device.
Stock RAM is CL5
I strongly recommend to go for 2x2GB 800MHz. It gives a nice performance boost in apps that depend on graphics performance. -
Good morning, Phil!
Here are the Pass Mark results for su3500 @1.6GHz
I couldn't find a proper explanation for the inconsistent crashing of my system so I narrowed it down to the RAM. When the first 2GB were filled up the problems began so I just took out the second 1GB module(a very old module I had lying around) and voila! No problem running at 1.6GHz any more

G' morning. Nice performance. Thanks for testing. + Rep.

Fantastic. I'm going to wait a few days to make sure this isn't an impulse buy. The 1410, upgraded RAM, HDD, USB BT module, an enclosure for the old HDD, and a case comes to $661.52 with shipping from Newegg. Another $90 for the 1810T battery and that's a bit of dough to drop on in one sitting for me.
If I go for it, unless someone has already done it, I'll take a ton of before and after benchmarks for Vista Tuning, RAM upgrade, HDD upgrade/Vista install, and so on. That'll be my way of paying this help forward
Thanks again! -

I'll order 2x2GB 800MHz dual channel RAM today. Can't wait to see the difference
Edit:
@OMGSnarf
I'd just use the stock 4400mAh battery till it breakes before buying a 5600mAh.
You should get 5h+ with it if you tweak a bit like this:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5312927&postcount=87 -
On the battery side I am getting around 7.0-7.5 hours.
Thats with Wifi on, browsing, chatting... with brightness around 85% from the maximum.
That asteroids video clip plays fine, I notice a very slight lagging between 1:35 - 1:45 other than that is okay.. -
That's very good!
How did you measure battery life? Do you use Battery Bar? -
I had a blue screen at 1.8GHz(supposedly memory related) so I went back to 1.75GHz. 15min Orthos Blend on AC-power, 55degrees core temp, no problems.
I'll do further tests when I get my 800MHz dual channel RAM
Edit:
su3500 is just awesome! I'm able to undervolt @1.75GHz! I'm running Orthos StressCPU right now @1.75GHz/0.8875V
Edit2:
runs @1.75GHz/0.8750V!
I'll let Orthos do its thing while mowing the lawn now.

This doesn't even play smoothly on my T7400 (C2D @ 2.16gHz w/ 4MB) in my Dell Inspiron E1505 w/ ATI discrete graphics.
-
You mean that part with the lava right?
-
I didn't attempt playing the whole thing. It was choppy when the comet was hitting the earth and the lava / molten material was shooting out. It doesn't play very smooth on my Q6600 desktop at 3.0gHz either, so wouldn't be surprised if it's the clip.
-
Yeah as I said before, even on my desktop it appears laggy, even though I have about 15% cpu usage in total when watching it, specs in sig.
-
We probably need a better benchmark clip. At first I was using Lady Gaga's Pokerface 720p, but that's also a clip that appears laggy by default.
If anyone knows a very heavy Youtube clip that does not appear laggy please post. -
search for "Weird Al Yankovic HD music videos CNR or SKIPPER DAN" they are heavy good quality hd clips that I have been using for testing purposes when trying windows xp, windows vista stock with as1410 system and windows 7 + ie8. windows xp played it choppy using ie7 and latestest flash, windows vista with ie8 played it choppy, windows 7 with ie8 and latest windows flash player plays it almost 99% butter smooth while streaming using the SU3500 cpu and retail windows7 ultimate X86 with dual channel ddr2800 4 gigs of ram. Also using 500gb western digital fast hard drive and using newest intel wifi 5100 drivers and using stock windows 7 audio driver since the realtek windows 7 drivers cause high cpu spikes and high cpu usage when audio is being used in the OS!
-
Could you please do a guide and explain how you sold and stuff?
-
Mmmm, I think somethings wrong with your computer then. I'm on a C2D 2.26 P8400 and it runs smooth like butter.
Are you sure you're not mistaking the parts where the camera is shaking a little to imply the WHOOOSHING of the nearby asteroid? -
Liliputing puts the UL20a at $599 US with 2 GB of RAM and a 250 GB HD. Of course no one actually knows exactly when it will get released in the US. If you get your hands on a UL20a please gives us a review in the Asus forum.

Got my happy blue 1410 in the mail this week. A couple questions:
1. Why does cpu-z say that the processor is running at 1596.01 MHz? http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=718274
2. Will the free upgrade to windows 7 allow a 64 bit installation or only 32?
3. If I install the 90 day enterprise trial of win7 now, will I be able to enter the key from the upgrade to keep using it or will I have to reinstall from scratch?
Thank you internet folks. -
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
2. No, your upgrade will upgrade from Vista 32-bit to 7 32-bit.
3. No that won't work. -
1. Because CPU-Z reads it wrong.
Well they were wrong. Even without overclocking I could be unzipping large files while surfing the web.
Many people are blinded by Intel's marketing. "Oh it's only core without hyperthreading there for it can not do multitasking".
PS. I accidentally moved a post about Asus UL20 price and not having HDMI. If you want to read it, it's here. -
Mine does the same thing. Don't get excited... Once you start to do anything, it will jump to the 6x multi for 1.2ghz , or 7x multi for 1.4 ghz.
It's some weird thing that I'm sure someone knows the name for it, but I don't. It's a power saving mode that I think is actually 800mhz, not the cpu-z stated 1600. -
It's definitely not 1600. If you set the CPU power saving mode to 0% min/max, it will say 1600 all the time, but will benchmark much lower than 1400.
-
It's the SuperLFM.
It's 8x multiplier with half FSB, so 1600MHz:2=800MHz. -
Hi,
i've got a short question. The other day I installed a new operating system on my 1810T. When I rebooted after the installation the netbook freezes on the welcome screen ("acer empowering people" "Press <F2> to enter Setup"). When I press F2 fast enough it freezes before entering the BIOS Setup.
Is this the BIOS BUG known from the Aspire one? Any suggestions to solve this problem?
On Monday I probably gonna call ACER... -
Will the free upgrade to windows 7 allow a 64 bit installation or only 32?
The Sys7 upgrade disk allows for migration from Vista 32-bit to Sys7 32-bit.
The Sys7 upgrade disk also allows a "clean install" from Vista 32-bit to Sys7 64-bit.
The old rules from XP to Vista no longer apply.
Take a few minutes to read thru this authoritative
article on Win7 migration at the respected
Paul Thurrott's SuperSite for Windows.
And you won't have any more questions.

Hurray! So I'll be able to do a clean install of x64 win7 (which is what I would have done anyway). Hopefully I won't have to spend a day removing bloatware again. I guess I'll go pick up some more ram at newegg then. Now I just need to decide whether to buy 2x 2gb @ 800mhz or just one @ 667. Decisions decisions.

happend to me in 4810tz and in 3810t... happens mostly when u have something connected via card reader or usb, try it

my benchmark scores were with stock vista OS that came with AS1410 preinstalled as well as the stock gpu drivers that came installed and once i added the dual channel 4gb ddr2-800 ram the scores were pretty good. In Windows 7 I cant seem to get that high of a score compared to vista for some reason. I am currently using the 1872 intel gpu driver version. I did update the directx runtime in windows 7 using the latest release of directx runtime which updatews dx10 and dx11 in vista and win7, from microsoft!

Thanks, marse
It would be uber-great if you would perform the other benchmarks, too.
Edit:
A little explanation of the benchmark results I posted above:
Overclocking the FSB overclocks the graphics chip, too.
You can see this when looking at the fillrate results(the first two numbers under Feature Tests).
@250FSB the 4500MHD runs at 400MHz instead of 320MHz. -
der_mali, if you could link where to get the doom 3 demo and the others I could run the benchmarks, think it'd be best if I can get the exact version you have to get compare-able results.
(running 1810TZ stock everything, vista 32-bit) -
I'd be interested about your 3d mark scores. c2d doesn't help much @ 3d mark
http://www.futuremark.com/download/3dmark03/ -
HL2 Lost Coast is available for free on Steam. I don't know where to get the Doom demo, though.
3D Mark is a bad benchmark anyway. I just included it because it is the only benchmark we have right now with results for 800MHz dual channel RAM.
