Everything at stock running Vista 32bit.

doom 3 and hl2 will have to download during the night and I'll come back with the results tomorrow morning.

    Some hints for the benchmarks:
To open the console in Doom, click Ctrl+Alt+^, type timedemo demo1, click enter. Each timedemo has to be run twice and the second run's result is ok. The first run produces lower results because of buffering issues.

Lost Coast should be run at default settings(1024x768).

By the way, how did you manage to OC your 3500 and could it be possible on the 4100 aswell?

    To der_mali

I'm not "in-the-know" but it didn't take much effort to figure out what needs to be done. I can't say I'll ever get around to do it, but you've given me the nudge to work on my dormant soldering skills.. just for the fun of it. I've got an old modem-card with a .5mm pitch chip to practise on.

so thanks for that -- everybody needs a hobby !

I already had a little bit background knowledge, so it was easy to find a solution :) I've included a link to my post about the MOD in Timeline Tweaks(see sig). The su4100 should be easy to overclock too after applying the MOD.

Finally I have my new 1410 since yesterday and joined the club :D

Now it's working smooth and faster more than my previous 751h. For now it's Vista 32-bit and 4GB RAM. I wanna upgrade it into W7 after I get the original one after they've shipped around end of next month.

I try to do my best if you have any questions...

so 1810tz is the better choice? i must decide till wednesday which one to get - 1810tz or 3810t. i like the look of 3810t more, but that extra power in 1810tz is quite tempting
    :)

The 1810tz packs the most power in the smallest package. I'll do a carbon fiber foil MOD on the lid of my 1810t, soon. Should look good and prevent finger prints.

If you had posted the Feature Tests results of 3D Mark I would have found the reason earlier ;) I've analyzed the benchmark results and came to the conclusion that the FSB on 1810tz is slightly underclocked. I suppose that it runs at 185.7MHz and 7x multiplier to achieve 1.3GHz. This underclocks 4500MHD to around 297MHz(320MHz is default on gs45). I suppose that Intels CULV processors don't know half-multipliers.

Someone on a German site installed Vista 64 with the 32bit key on his 3810t and Phil confirmed that the key for 32bit and 64bit is the same.

I have beeen following this thread for a while. Unfortunately, the 1810T/Tz is not available here in Norway yet.

However the 3810Tz with SU4100 is widely available, it actually replaced the 3810T at the same price. Thus, it is a way better value and probably your best choice if you prefer a 13.3".

For those who have 751h. I am thinking about purchasing a couple of these laptops for our sales people, who will use them for remoting and MS Office, do you think it would be capable enough? They are selling for $300.

In my opinion they're capable. But... they have some troubles with multi tasking because of those Atom CPUs. You should upgrade them to 2GB and configure the system for minimum requirements.

For example, listening music with Winamp, browsing on the internet and using an office document at the same time was almost OK. I did it while I was in China for business. But if you want to work on different documents at the same time too, there you have some performance problems.

I'd like to find out myself.

I just purchased the 751 as an alternative to the 1410/1810T because for my needs, I believe it will be sufficent for web, email, and office processing, music, and yes even video.

And for $300 the price cannot be beat. The 1810T and TZ sell for far too much here in the UK, and I imagine elsewhere as well, that I couldn't justify it.

To give you an idea, I paid £188 for the 751 vs the £460.xx I'm seeing for the 1810TZ here in the UK. I also considered the n510 which seems to range from £388 - £429 here in the UK.

    Amazing price difference!

I remmber phil reviewed it and said it felt like all other netbooks provided you use XP and remove extra programs such as norton/macfee and the like.

A few others on the web supported this.

I'm curious for updates from those who still have it, and have tweaked it to run smoothly.

I have been able to follow this thread till post 180 or so and remember the open issue of the bluetooth feature. just got my 1810t in and there seems to be a dedicated bluetooth switch on it, together with an indicator led. alsö the keyboard has got a shortcut key combination fn+F3. I ordered a german model.

    @phil:
thanx for the extensive documentation on the 1810 as well as for the timeline tweak resourses, of which I have implemented already quite a couple of things.

will resort to the uv method only then.
strange enough RMclock gives me not more than 2 indices on the su3500, with FIDs 6x and 7x to check. feels unusual to me.

Faux-CF would be sweet, though I tend to be not very gifted at those kinds of things. Mine would probably have bubbles n' junk.

BTW: what socket are these empty traces for? Are the pins active?

I plan to disassemble the lid ,apply the foil, wrap it around the edges and then reassemble the lid with the foil trapped between lid and screen frame. That way it won't losen over time. Also I have read that those foils are easy to apply when you use a hair drier to heat them, they shrink or expand when necessary.

That mini pci-e port has power on a few of them pins, but that doesn't mean much. Do any of the other timelines that are similar actually have this port populated?

@der_mali, sounds like a plan. Seems like a cool idea, but I couldn't find a small amount, and 4 square foot was looking like it was going to be a little pricey.
