Actually I think that the 1410/1810 is more similar to the Aspire One A1x0 series because it is made by Quanta. the larger Timelines are made by Inventec and Wistron. This link might provide some Info:
    http://tnkgrl.wordpress.com/2008/10/28/modding-the-acer-aspire-one-hsdpa/#more-577

There is also a ZG5(AOA1x0) datasheet including schematics that might provide useful info.

A german shop lists the 1810tz for 499€ and it is in stock.

    Hi :)

this is my first post on this board. I'm watching the discussion about the 1810T since the beginning. Here in Germany also the 1810tz is now listed with UMTS option for 599 Euros but it's not yet available. I'm looking forward to get one very soon because as far as I figured out from the former posts the 1810tz is the perfect mobile solution for me.

The cheapest option in Germany for the 1810tz without UMTS I found is at the EP store for around 475 Euros.

I'm glad that more and more stores in Germany has the 1810tz listed (also the Plus Discounter). I was very envious to the guys who already got it since a few days ;-)

    Cheers,
    Micho

Well i had my doubts about buying the 1810t/tz, but you really convinced me - now where can i buy one of those great computers ;) :D

    @1810tz availibility in Germany:

I decided to get a 1810tz and have been following the 1810tz in Germany. To be honest, all of the shops listing the 1810tz are quite small shops and not the big "players" when it comes to notebook computers. Sounds a little bit fishy to me.

Some shops already removed the 1810tz from their list so that I think that it is not available yet.
By the way, does the 1810tz have a Core 2 Duo SU 4100 or is it a Pentium?

It's called Pentium but it's the same core with less cache. Performance is actually quite close to SU9400 Core 2 Duo.

Not really important, however does anyone has the same problem on 1410/1810t? When I try to create network map in network & sharing center, bang -> cpu 100% and nothing else happens. Anyone?

I'm getting a pretty weird problem. On booting, sometimes I will get a bluescreen with the error message IRQL_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS or something to that effect. Actually, there are several error messages that will pop up. It will work eventually if I restart a couple times, but it's kind of annoying.

Anyone know how to fix it or what is causing the problem? Googling reveals possibly memory or drivers.

Did you recently install new drivers? If you mix up 64 or 32-bit drivers, that could cause a problem. Did you recently add/change/reseat the RAM? You could try MemTest86 - see the tweaks thread (check der_mali's sig) for instructions on setting that up via USB.

What do you think the odds are that the 1410 would fit in this sleeve:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834990174

It says the maximum width is 11 inches but at 11.2" the 1410 is only a smidge wider (and it's significantly slimmer than 2.5"). I'm trying to find the smallest, lightest sleeve possible that still provides decent cushioning (i have a habit of putting my messenger bag down a little too carelessly). If anyone has a another sleeve that's working for them, I'd be glad to hear about it. Thanks.

Did anyone have success with hibernating under windows 7 32 bit ?

I can put the machine to sleep - the power led starts blinking, and the machine stays cold.

But if I try to hibernate, all it does is blank the screen, but any keypress, or mouse movement brings up the machine in one second, as well as sucking battery and being warm to the touch.

I have hybrid sleep turned off, the machine is a 1810tz without acer epower management installed.

I had that problem in Vista HP 32-bit for some reason, which is why I went back to Windows 7. Last time I was in Vista I closed the lid, thought it hibernated but didn't and I got scared it would burn up in my case. If I figure it out, I'll let you know.

You can set what each function does in the power options. IE close lid, sleep button, power button.

It works just fine for me. Maybe a program is preventing it from hibernating?

Maybe hit the hibernate button, then go check the event log for errors or warnings.

I would say that the odds are 100% that the Acer 1410 fits perfectly in this sleeve considering that this is the sleeve that I use. Great sleeve with plenty of room for the power adapter in the front + my VZW USB adapter. I used this before for my 1000HE and that also fit fine. The 1410 is a little thinner than the 1000HE and while it IS a snug fit it works fine for me.

    About sleeves..
Its really more than "Does it fit?"
Bring your 1810 to a few stores and try out many options.
Know what it looks and feels like in person. The design.. the quality.
Don't embarrass your new 1810 by pulling it out of an ugly carrying case!

Should be a very subjective decision.
Like buying a new wallet or a new motorcycle.

And I keep lecture papers in same pocket with laptop. Its important for me that I can take all what I need in one case with me :)

    Just noticed a new Samsung X120 11.6" SU4100.
Might give the 1810TZ some competition.

I like Samsung notebooks. Build quality is above Acer.

This X120 will be significantly more expensive though, while it has a 4 cell battery.

Edit: specs say 4 cell, Geizhals says 6 cell.

Hey, does that battery bar "full battery life time" count idle time (screen down, hibernating)? Now its saying 8hour 13min and 53pros left and 3h 50min time left.

Total battery life and current time left often don't match. I think it has todo with the way it calculates.

    Just a general advice:
The 1410's PSU is identical to the Aspire One A1x0 series' PSU so everything else power adapter related will fit as well.

It's really hard to tell. I don't know how Battery Bar works in detail. The main battery life estimation should be fairly accurate. If you usage profile changes, it will recalculate and the readings might contradict each other.

Also a tip: On my 1810t I've found out that often the power consumption is higher when coming out of standby and I have to switch to a different power profile and back to battery saving mode to get the normal lower power consumption. Seems to be a Vista bug.

However, be careful if you get a cheap generic ac adapter from eBay, as it may not fit very well into the jack on the 1410. Mine is fairly loose. :) But it still works...sometimes after adjusting it for a sec.

    Hi,

Just came back from holidays ... so long time and too much to read ....

But for the people that are looking for a bag or sleeve for the 1810; I have purchased the Belkin Messenger Netbook 12,1" Bag ... I think is light, more than enough for the 1810 and with extra space for papers, accesories, with pockets, departments, etc ... all just in a liitle more size than the 1810 itself ... very handy an ight ... have a look !

    http://search.dell.co.uk/1/2/11501-...notebook-carrying-case-12-1-jet-cabernet.html

I have the chocolate and turquese version.

    Cheers

For 1810T models which are missing Bluetooth module, the Finnish Importeur announced that the module is

    BH.21100.004 MODULE.BLUETOOTH.T60H928.33

    costing 30,49€ + shipping & handling 10,00€. Delivery in 2 weeks.

Do you know where to put the internal module? Acer handbook is very superficial and I cannot find any description or picture in the net either.

Btw I do not want to use external Bluetooth module...
