YES! Seems like you've found the answer.
The TZ series will have the Intel SU4100 cpu.
The T series will have the Intel SU7300 cpu.
Hum... now which color to pick?
"Timeline notebooks come in a variety of colors (depending on the model), including Diamond Black, Sapphire Blue, Brushed Aluminum and the new Espresso." -
^This.
Give me a sub 500 11.6" 2GHz dual core + dedicated graphics end of next year and I'm happy with my 1810t until then
-
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Brushed aluminum is only on 13.3" and above, so cross that off your list.
-
Nothing happens when I close the lid on my 1410, that is it does not go into sleep mode, hibernation, etc. Does anyone know if this is a hardware or OS problem?
-
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Likely and OS problem. There is a setting in the power options that says "when close lid do nothing" -
No, it doesn't matter what I set it to. Does this suggest a hardware problem? Your's works OK?
-
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
My 3810t works fine, so then your 1410 must have a hardware problem.
BTW, here are the settings you can check for the lid:Attached Files:

-
Are these not entirely different computers?
Edit: Ok you're saying the OS is fine -
What are your Shark007 settings? Are you using WMP to play the videos? Telling you man, there's a problem with your settings or something, because I'm playing everything perfectly over here.
-
HeyGuys I have a problem and it would be nice to get some advice. I have trouble when I install 2x2GB 800mhz ram into my 1410. It would boot up and run for awhile until it freezes or spontaneously blacks out and restarts. I've tested the rams separately with memtest and none have errors. Any idea whats wrong? Thanks in advance for helping!
-
Some people had problems with one of the RAM slots. I'd take out the module from the slot that wasn't populated when you bought it and test if it still freezes.
-
Use the original RAM in the test that der_mali suggested. what I thought was a problem with my RAM slot was actually a problem with my RAM. I RMAed my RAM (hahaha) and now it works perfectly. No problems.
-
So your slot was intact, that's good to hear
@therye
I'd do it like this:
1. Take out the RAM you are using right now.
2. Put the original module in slot1 and use the laptop for a while.
3. Put the original module in slot2 and use the laptop for a while.
4. report back -
Thanks ill try that. I had the original ram in the slot1 for awhile and I had one of the new ram in the slot2 for an hour or so but ill test it again but there wasn't any problems. Ill report back.

Hello all, I've just recently bought a 1410 with the SU2300 and successfully installed vista. But... I have 2 problems so far:
1. The Fn + screen brightness key is not working
2. Bluetooth driver failed to detect my bluetooth device.
Btw, the SU 2300 scored 769 on passmark CPU test ^_^ -
That's cool
-
Yeah, which is weird because I ran memtest and came up with no errors.
I would add to der_mali's test that "use the laptop for a while" means over a few days with multiple restarts and shutdowns. Restarts is where my laptop really blue-screened a lot. -
I have a 1410 on order but haven't received it yet. I want to be able to run Acronis as my backup & disk imaging tool. Does anyone know if the 1410 can be set up to boot from a USB drive? If this works, I can put my Acronis rescue CD image on a thumb drive and use it to boot the netbook into the Acronis environment.
I have a desktop PC that I could use to create ISO images on a thumb drive from the desktop's DVD-R/W, and I would like to be able to avoid buying a DVD-R/W for the 1410.
Sorry for the ignorance but I've never owned a PC other than desktops before. -
You shouldn't have a problem. I was booting live linux images from both USB flash and CardReader and it was flawless.
I also used Acronis via USB CD-rom and it works wonderful.
Just don't forget to enable F12 boot menu in BIOS! -
I was wondering what everyone's experience with the webcam is?
My mic catches a LOT of internal system noise. Also, after installing Windows 7, I cannot use Acer Crystal Eye Webcam program because it says "Camera Not Found!" when I load the program. -
Webcam works fine for me in Ubuntu, never tried in with Vista and don't have W7 yet. Can't comment on the mic.
-
I purchased a 1410 from BJ's, which had the RAM installed in slot 1 (the one on the right when looking at it with the wireless card at the bottom). When I placed additional RAM in (a 512MB stick I had around the house), the machine refused to boot. I thought nothing of it since I though perhaps something was wrong with the old RAM (even tried swapping slots between the two, but still wouldn't pass internal checks on startup).
However, when I received a 1410 from tigerdirect, the orginal RAM was placed in slot 2, and when I placed the same old 512MB ram in this 1410, it worked!
I also noticed that the wiring for the wireless card was routed differently. The "bad" 1410 had the wiring from the card going up, towards slot 2, and was actually hindering the install of additional RAM. However, the "good" 1410 had the wiring from the wireless card going down.
Just some observations on US distributed systems. -
Can this laptop output 5.1 audio via HDMI?

Interesting, especially because the new Intel SU2300 DualCore has tested with surprising speed. And its only 449.
Keep in mind the 1410 likely has a 6 hour not 8 hour battery.
"Pentium Dual-Core SU2300 2x 1.20GHz 2048MB 250GB kein optisches Laufwerk Intel GMA X4500HD (IGP) max.384MB shared memory 3x USB 2.0/Modem/Gb LAN/WLAN 802.11abgn/Bluetooth HDMI UMTS 5in1 Card Reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS Pro/xD) Webcam 11.6" WXGA glare LED TFT (1366x768) Windows 7 Home Premium Li-Ionen-Akku (6 Zellen)" -
I made a bootable rescue media image in Acronis onto a thumb drive. Then I went into the BIOS menus and set 1 of the 3 USB options to be booted before the hard drive. No matter which one I set at the top of the list, or where I plugged in the thumb drive, the 1410 always booted into Vista. I also created an ISO image from Acronis on the thumb drive but that wouldn't boot either.
I know I'm doing something wrong; any direction (or online place I should read up at) is appreciated.
I just got the 1410 tonight and I am very pleased so far. -
Like I said in my previous post: you should enable F12 boot menu and use that to boot off USB. You can find this option on the bottom of 2nd or 3rd tab in the BIOS. By default it is "Disabled" and you have to "Enable" it.
Then after you save settings and computer restarts, simply press F12 with USB flash plugged in, select it from the list and press Enter. Laptop will boot from USB drive.
There are times when it does not show USB drive on the list, and if that is the case press Ctl_Alt_Del and press F12 again. Should be there now.
If I were you I'd also check if that flash drive is working on some other computer. -
Slightly off topic.
But too exciting not to cross post.
Acer has listed its new 11.6" Tablets on the Acer US website.
Lots new- DDR3 ram, 8GB max, G3 option, two display resolutions, etc
1820PT with the Intel Core2Dual SU7300

My trial microsoft 2007 expired and now i have nothing to use.
I need to use word badly and now i can't even do anything on it except view my files. Does anyone know where i can download and install microsoft word via usb or something?
I have no idea how to do it without a cd drive
thanks guys -
You know, there is FREE OpenSource software that you can use instead of M$. There are quite a few, but one of the most popular are:
OpenOffice download here
AbiWord download here
As for M$ Office, I believe you can purchase a key, enter it in trial program for it to work again.
PS: And next time please start a new thread in the proper subforum. This thread is about Acer Aspire 1410/1810T. -
i AM asking about the 1410 thats why i asked how to do so without the cd driver..
-
Have you tried WordPad?
Prikolchik's suggestion is a sound advice (free open source).
Either that, or start selling some unneeded stuff (that's how I fund my hardware/software purchases) and buy a key. -
I use Open Office. It's a free download from Sun.
-
If you or someone you know is in the military, you can get good discount on Office 2007-

@k9hydr4
The second link points to su2300 which is a step up from su3500 performance-wise, cause it's dual core
-
Thanks- The intel site is very vague (at least what showed up in google) about the difference about this guy and the 743.
I may get this for my active directory/media server at home, and streaming to my xbox360. Do you think it is robust enough for compressing/decompressing cd size or multigigabyte files? -
I just noticed the 1410 has a SU2300. It makes the decision harder for me between that and the HP Mini 311.
-
It's no contest. I wouldn't purchase a computer with Atom processor in it.
BTW, can someone confirm that the 1410 with su2300 has gigabit ehternet?
Thanks! -
So how come the su2300 has virtualization technology and the su4100 does not?

According to: http://www.frys.com/product/6059408?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
It does -
Thanks. I am not a big fan of celeron processors, but I just might get this guy while waiting for the SU7300 version to come down in price.
-
Well, here's some comparison:
http://ark.intel.com/Compare.aspx?ids=36331,37135,42791,43568,42779,
The CULV Celeron, Pentium, and Core 2 Duo are pretty similar spec wise minus the L2 cache.
EDIT: I meant to say its probably like the current rebranded "Pentium" which are just Core 2 processors with lower FSB and Speed. -
They're all listed as 800mhz FSB.
-
JR.com, a solid US vendor, has all models listed.
1810T at $599 ~black & blue
1810TX at $549 ~black & blue
and the updated 1410 at $399 ~black, red & blue

Makes your AS1410 SU2300 dual core, 160 hard drive =
$379 with free US shipping and no tax for most states -
Does anyone know if the 2300 is sufficient for Hulu or YouTube?
-
It should be able to handle it.
-
See message #2966 here.
"the SU 2300 scored 769 on passmark CPU test"
Don't know about Hulu, but this score is much higher than
the SU3500 at ~ 480, I think. -
Thanks.
Man, this decision making business is not getting any easier...
