The Acer page says it comes with Vista Home Premium so that shouldn't matter.![]()
-
-
Correct, but the US 1410 model comes with Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1
In any case, its listed as qualifying at the Acer website here. -
Ok, so I couldn't resist. I jumped in on the Diamond Black model.
Now begins the waiting game on the system, and the purchase to show up in my cashback account. Reportedly it takes several days for J&R purchases to show up.

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
How much do we think the SU4100 version of the 1810 will be in the US? I say $599.
-
MSRP or street price?
-
Sounds about right. Maybe $549 by the time it arrives because prices in the low costs marketplace seem to go down at the moment.
-
The 1810T is available in Sweden as of today. I witnessed an unpacking at a local store and it's truly a thing of beauty
I will resist the temptation for a while though, to see if the dual core will be available here.. or at least a version with built-in bluetooth. -
wow around $400 for 1410.. that is very nice deal..
-
do u guys know if 1410 will be available at Costco in US?
i just purchased 11.6 751h last sunday on costco.com
-
Guys:
The two versions of the 1810T and 1810TZ:
http://www.netbookchoice.com/2009/0...e-1810tz-to-feature-dual-core-culv-processor/
Offiacially is the Acer China Page with both Processors:
http://www.acer.com.cn/acer/product...nd189e.c2att1=115&ctx1.att21k=1&CRC=331032331
and also in the Energy Star Page in US
http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm...rtParameter=brand_name&startnum=11&letter=ALL
Also some info about renaming 1810T as 1410 in some markets (US/Canada) ...
http://www.netbookchoice.com/2009/0...ebranded-‘aspire-1410’-in-uscanadian-markets/
pre-order at both OfficeNation and CDW for between $465 – $475.

(Sorry it´s in spanish !!)

Be careful when evaluating info that you find the origin of the info. I'm pretty sure that netbookchoice.com takes the info from this thread
-
If you go to the Acer China Web Page and click over the second tab where you can expect to see Specs: yoo will see there both processors listed and both models: AS1810T and AS1810TZ !! Source is Acer China !!

I noticed that too. Without referencing

Yes, I know. I just meant those netbookchoice links

Tomorrow I shall take one month holliday ... so I still will have a Dell Inspirion D620 with myself ... after September 15th, when I come back from hollidays I shall see how the things are going but I think I am going also for the 1810TZ with the Dual Core ... that´s when I have to get back the Dell to my firm ... as it is a company LapTop
Cheers and good night from Madrid. -
I'm still concerned about su4100 being a Pentium. There are references on the web to both core 2 duo and pentium dual core when searching for su4100, but when pasting that part about processor options on Acer China site in google translator it translates it to pentium.
Can anybody explain the difference or give a link to a comparison of similar chips, please?
Have a nice holiday
-
Celeron, Pentium, Dual Core, Core 2 Duo are marketing terms. They use the same cores with different amounts of cache, Celeron the least, Core 2 Duo the most.
-
Ok, thanks. That makes sense. Trying to find valid info on the web just led to more confusion.
-
http://processorfinder.intel.com/ is a very good resource but it doesn't list the newest CPUs.
PS. I think Intel uses these terms so people think 'oh but I don't want a Pentium, I want a real Core 2 Duo'. I've seen several people that thought Dual Core is some kind of outdated crippled CPU because it wasn't Core 2 Duo. In reality a Dual Core CPU like T4200 outperforms many Core 2 Duos. -
Would a dual core version considerably reduce battery life compared to the single core?
I know the dual core is supposed to use twice as much juice, however, they say that its the screen and the other components put together that will draw more juice. -
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
No, my 3810 with the SU9400 gets almost 8 hours, which is the same as the single core versions.
Also Arrandale may be unveiled at CES, so this will use the Core i7 620UM or 640UM. Can't wait to get the Arrandale version of this!
-
Yeah due to the power saving features it doesn't matter that much.
-
Anyone know how much further down the road the dual core version would be? Is there any chance it'd ship to the US by early September?
-
Good to know that dual core would still not use that much juice.
So would the dual core version be able to watch HD Flash? Considering getting one of these for my bro depending on the price and performance. -
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Yes. My SU9400 plays youtube and vimeo in hd perfectly. Sine the SU4100 has only 1mb less l2 cache and only .1ghz slower in clockspeed, it should be good too. -
Hi, Thanks for your desire ...
I still be here connected until the end of Agust, when I really shall travel outside for my Summer Holliday travel ... then I shall be disconected ...
Here is a link with a reference to different SU processors that may help you, if you have not seen it before:
http://209.85.229.132/translate_c?h...le.com&usg=ALkJrhg0tbfcgmH9ecg29wnyBrjk3tUCCA
As you can see, the main difference over the listed items between the SU4100 and its bigger brothers until the SU9400 is the 1Mb buffer size difference and Virtualization, mainly.
Cheers -
That's what I think too.
-
Here is a Web Site with the whole offer of 1410 & 1810TZ, 3810TZ ...
http://www.laptopsdirect.ie/Acer_Aspire_Timeline_Laptops/prod.asp
1810TZ
Bluetooth = NO
Dual-Core ULV SU4100 RAM: 3GB Hard Drive: 250GB -->> 523€
All TZ series comming in October, the say ...
Cheers -
Good find!
-
Nice find Juan55!
So Acer Timeline 1810TZ is 523 euro. Only about 40 euros more than 1810T. -
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Why does Energy Star say the 1410 is the most "feature rich"?
So the US will be getting the 1410, 1810T and 1810TZ. Since the 1410 is not the Timeline version, the battery might stick out like on the Aspire 751. Also, when Arrandale launches in Jan of next year, there are no single cores of the processors launching. Does that mean next year all 1410/1810's will be dual core, or will they get some single core Pentium/Celeron Arrandale models later? -
Thank´s ... see you too at T-Gathering in dutch !!
I still work for the dutch company based in Eindhoven ... but not for much time ...
Cheers -
Same stuff here ...

I'm patiently awaiting the mail man to arrive. At every sound of a van driving through the street I get a little excited
Der_mali said 1410 uses the same chassis as 1810 I think. If that is true the battery may not stick out. -
Here is a more complete list of processors & characteristics:

Is it going to be so important VT (Virtualization Techn.) ??
SU3500 supports it, the SU4100 it doesn´t ...
Cheers -
That's one difference I fogot to mention, support of VT. Pentiums don't. Some Core 2 Duos do.
For me it's totally unimportant. -
maybe because is pentium - they don't support virtualization
-
Acer often locks VT in BIOS anyway. It's relatively easy to hack it, though.
The best feeling on earth, awaiting a new gadget
-
It arrived. And OMG it is BLACK! yes!
-
True, but I believe the T4200 is still the lowest in terms of benchmarks against the current line of C2D T (6400 and above) and P series.
-
Let the F5-ing begin
-
Waiting anxious for your review ... ja, ja, ja .....
Enjoy the new toy ...
Cheers -
If anyone has questions feel free to ask. I can not make references to my own blog because it is against the rules. You guys are allowed to do it if you want to.
True, but only because T6400 has 1MB more cache. Other than that they're identical afaik.
Thanks I'm loving it sofar. The steel grey and black looks great! It almost looks like aluminium. -
Review:

The nice looking grey of the palmrest cries for a carbon fibre foil MOD on the lid
-
just got word that su4100 is under embargo from intel till september 6
-
Vista is still installing. The display doesn't looks as vibrant as on the 751. I wonder if this is because Vista hasn't fully installed yet or that it uses a different panel.
Or maybe it's because I'm sitting next to my 22" HP.
Edit: It looks better now. Acer utilites are still installing. -
So there is no data medium included, just the system on the recovery partition, right? Does Acer include software to create a recovery CD? If so, is it possible to "burn" it to a virtual drive and move just the ISO to an USB stick? I'm asking because maybe it could be possible to strip out the bloatware and create a clean recovery medium based on that ISO.
-
No medium included. At startup there is first the choice for VHP language. After that an image is made. I think there is a recovery manager included, I'll check that later.
First lunch now.
And I love the way the system feels. I thought I was going to sell it but I will probably keep it. It's very quiet too. Although not as quiet as 751. -
Sounds good
Also play around with the power saving settings. I'd like to know if it goes up to 1.6GHz when in balance mode like the 3810t.
