How you make Ati Tray tools to work with this video card ? I have a BSOD when try to use it.

Hi all,

I love this forum and am one of these secret trolls who uses it for info however I cant seem to find anything about RAM upgrades.

Does anyone know what the max type of RAM I can use in this.

I know its 8gig but does it support 1600MHz and higher or am I stuck with 1066MHz.

I think the extra 4gig will be nice anyway, but wanted to see if I can give this machine a nice boost and kick.

 

Results FurMark_v1.8.2:
550\750, 1.0V, the average temperature is 65, maximum 67

Welcome to NBR.

It's 1066MHz for all Core i3, i5 and two core i7 (620M, 640M).
With Core i7 720QM RAM will work @1333MHz.

To be honest it doesn't look like an undervolted value. 2*C is negligible especially with voltage down by 0.2V- which is a lot.
Are you sure that it actually works?

downloads, checked twice. I think that will ka4o_pi4a similar results. My friend did yesterday volt video card (5740G, HD5650M). Raised the voltage up to 1.06V without load and 1.08V with load. He says that in FurMark temperatures have risen by 7 С (90 С . He simply failed chip. In the run-off chasing the most artifact-free up to 620. Sorry for my bad english (translate.google.com)

You meant he couldn't go as far as he wanted to in terms of OC or did the GPU die on him while trying to overvolt?

i am getting a new notebook,

which is gonna be used in my school dorm (future school dorm),probably only gonna be used for youtube (lots and lots and lots of youtube) and web browsing,minecraft,watching movies,and listening to itunes.

i am in a dilema about the:

Acer Aspire One 722 vs. Lenovo s205

both are 11.6 inches in screen size (10.1 is too small)

AMD C-60 1.0-1.3 Ghz AMD E-350 1.6Ghz

AMD Radeon HD6250 AMD Radeon HD6310M

500gb HDD 320gbHDD

 

Between those two, i personally would pick the Acer Aspire One 722 because of better reviews , but i suggest you to look the videos to give you idea what problems/surprises might await you.

I gifted an aspire one 722 to my sister 3 months ago. its working fine. you get 2 gb ddr3 ram with it. while lenovo s205 provides 4 gb ddr3 ram.

specification wise the lenovo s205 has a slightly better edge in terms of Ram & storage. and it has a smaller edge over the aspire in terms of graphics and processor.

but the aspire one has Much Better battery backup. So just go for the one which offers you better post purchase service.

Hey all, I need your help

I also have an Aspire 5740G, ATI Mobility HD 5650, 6GB Ram, BD ...

I can't install new Mobility graphics drivers, I always get BSOD atikmpag.sys, while the Cataclyst installer tries to reset the graphics driver.

Resetting and installing official drivers works, it but doesn't work with new graphics drivers.

Sometime as I got the notebook and later a second time I tried thousands of Intel Chipset drivers and others and I got it working with every driver and no bluescreen while installing. I can't repeat that, now I tried again a lot of different drivers but I don't get it.

Can someone please help ?

 

Have you tried Driver Sweeper?

Also, I once had problems installing CCC due to an incompatible Microsoft Virtual C++. Try uninstalling what you don't need, run Driver Sweeper to remove all remnants of AMD, and then re-install.

 

I had the same problem, I had to uninstall all versions of the framework, to install the catalyst, reinstall framework 4.0

 

I had same problem. Fixed by installing older CCC + drivers (version 11.11)




Anyone have any good sites, where they sell cheap 4gb ddr3 so-dimm 1066 for this laptop? ( hong kong, europe only - must accept shipping to Estonia ).

 

Hello dear friends.

I seem to have a problem that came out of nowhere and i can't seem to solve it myself anymore.

Let me try to explane it:

Lately my windows is convincing me that my windows is not genuie and i need to purchase a valid copy. It is giving me pop-ups and also minimizing me from my current 'doings' just to give me popup saying: windows 7 not genuie...

But to my knowledge i have a valid one and i did pay for the license ( included with laptop ). It has sit on my desk for all it's time. Exept few times when i take it with me to school. But no-one could have copied it - i know for sure.

That leads me to: Why did this happen?

What i have tried:

1. My Computer-> Properties -> Change product key (click on it) = Nothing happends

2. My Computer-> Properties -> You must activate windows now. Activate now. (click on it) = Nothing happends.

RUN -> Slui.exe 4 = Nothin happends

RUN slui.exe = nothing happends

3. Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting -> Fix problems with windows update = No errors found

4. SLUI is in it's corrept folder (C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-security-spp-ux_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_b9e7a42ab571bbb9) -> tried to run here = Nothin happends.

I found there are several other Acer aspire users with this problem.

I have consider re-install but i can't have it ( too big data loss )

Does anyone have tought about this?

You still have a sticker on the bottom of the laptop with a product key which you can use to (try to) activate it via Microsoft phone line support.

 

Write in cmd prompt:


cscript "%SystemRoot%\System32\slmgr.vbs" /dli


What does it say?

Also you can try:


cscript "%SystemRoot%\System32\slmgr.vbs" /ipk XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX(replace that with your key under laptop)
and then

cscript "%SystemRoot%\System32\slmgr.vbs" /ato

 

The activation menu doesn't pop-up = it's like when i click nothing happends ( i assume that's where i would get the phone activation number and instructions? )

hey guys i have a wierd problem while trying to copy a dvd which has recorded home videos.
the dvd has 2 folders:1)audio_ts and 2)video_ts.

the thing is when on windows explorer i try to open properties it says capacity is 1.93gb. but whenever i try to copy it it says explorer has stopped responding.
so i tried to copy both folders separately. but then it says the total capacity of the dvd is 220gb!!!!!! and i don't have enough space on my hdd. how is that possible a dvd of max 4.7gb saying it has 220ggb of files???
i tried to make an image using daemon but it still fails because of too large a size. any ideas??

i have no idea who wrote it and thru which software it was written

 

You must use software for ripping DVD videos (by analogy to ripping music from CD-Audio)

 

Hi, I was changing the thermal paste for artic silver 5, and everything was fine, but after 5 days, temperatures rise 10 degrees in only one core, is the third attempt and always the same history ... less pressure? or maybe too much pressure? thanks ...

 

You do aware AS5 have curing time? AS5 curing time can take up to 200 hours (that's what their website said) & few thermal cycles (from room temperature a.k.a. computer off to load temperature) before it can reach maximum thermal conductivity.

 

The temperature rises after the curing time of 200 hours and should go down, 10 degrees, but only one of the cores, tested three times with identical results,room temperature of 22 degrees.

Most curious is the GPU temperature never goes above 73 degrees.

 

When you change the thermal paste you change and the CPU or not ? I used to have the same problem with one i7-620m. One of the cores was allways 5-7 degrees hotter then the others. I try i7-720qm on this laptop and the cooling is not enought for it to cool it good.

 

I think the pressure is not uniform, one of the cores receives less pressure than the others, the temperature begins to rise after the third day, reaching a difference of ten degrees on the seventh day...

 

Apart from temp on one core is higher than the other, the CPU temperature look OK when on full load (for 30 minutes).

These are mine @room temperature 32C.

When playing games, it rarely reached 80C. It's more around 73C to 76C.

 

Thanks for the photos, I'll put another thermal paste, artic silver 5 does not work well on my pc, a core to 90 degrees are not acceptable.
In summer here makes about 34 degrees, and my pc will convert into a fireball

 

I have around 85-90 degrees during the summer with i7-720qm and AC MX-4. Very good thermal compound.

Well, the problem with my windows not ''valid'' didn't resolve.

I am still getting pop-up during normal use. And more frequently now, even tho it says i have activated windows.

I have given up with this and decided to reinstall windows.

With this i have two simple questions:

I have partitioned my HDD with 2 partitions

1. 100GB - windows sits here
2. 800GB - data sits here

1. Question: Now if i reinstall windows on partition 1. Does it keep data on partition 2. and am i still able to accsess partition 2. without having to reformat it?

2. Question: After reinstall is it very important to do all couple of GB of updates when i am tempered surfer with cautions? Meaning, would combination of different security software be enaught? - (i have noticed updated add extra 400 ram and increase boot time.)

Is easy to just call Micosoft by phone and give them your key,they will give you a password that will activate your windows.
I never do partitions worsen the performance,i use one hdd for windows, and the second for the pagefile and applications.
No problem, windows will not erase the other partition, and you can continue using it, but some applications install files on windows and stop working

 

Looks like one core turboboosting. It's possible that before AS5 you had a core try to turboboost, it hit 90+C immediately and went back down to non-turbo so never had a higher temp. I.e. it's possible that the CPU is actually running a little cooler for the same load level, so it can hit another level of turbo that it couldn't sustain before.

A single core at 89 while the other three are at 80 means that the thermal paste is working.

As for curing of AS5, it takes a half dozen or more thermal cycles (hot cold hot etc) before it cures, so powering it up, getting it up to temp, then shutting off the laptop for an hour or so is the best way to get it to cure. Even so, after curing average temps will only drop a few degrees (2 to 5C).

 

Hello, I just spent the first 95 with turbo boost disabled, and temperature differences increase:

the difference is 13 degrees!
The difference in the first 3 days was only 3 degrees.
I changed the thermal paste and many times and never had this problem

 

1. If you use a retail version to install windows on partition 1, your data on the other partition will not be affected and you will have access to it. But you will have to enter a valid key and activate again. If you use the original restore DVD's that you were asked to create when you got the PC new...you don't need to enter a key (it will load the default manufacture key) but it might delete your second partition and you should back up your stuff from there first.

2. It is not recommended to have more than 1 security software running at the same time ...only use 1 firewall and 1 anti virus program...otherwise your machine will get awefully slow and they get in each others way. I personally only use microsofts free security essentials...works great and not a memory eater!

But i decided not to update my windows even tho... there are ~60 updates .

Am i in big security risk when browsing safe websites without having any windows updates?
I don't want to loose the instant open everything machine when i update, which have happened before.

I have an idea, not really a fix but perament solution, it will also make your system tiny bit faster. What i have done is disable system sounds to free up resources.

Control panel-> Hardware and Sound-> Change system sounds-> Sound Scheme ( Change To No Sounds )-> Ok you can also disable Startup sound.

I've done it and i don't get annoyed by sounds which i already know will happen, and it also fixed the loud BEEB it used to give whenever unplugging power wire.
