Maybe you should have left it in your laptop???![]()
![]()
Mine was never removed and stored, and at times I think it stayed in for at least a month without me switching to battery mode, although I do it alot now![]()
![]()
Download a program called batterybar and install it
See how much wear there is on your battery.
But after installing batterybar, let you battery drain and re-charge a few times.
When I first installed it it said that my battery had worn down 4%, this was like 3 months after getting the laptop![]()
However after a few cycles that dropped alot
After having the laptop for about 10 months it shows 3.7% wear, where as initially it was much less
Give it a try it might help us help you
BTW, why the hell did you put it in the freezer![]()
-
Everest says that the conception capacity of my battery was 48800 mWh and that the current capacity is now 37000 mWh. That's about a 25% loss i guess. Don't use it a lot though. It always stayed in my lap.
-
Freezer can't hurt anyway and i'm thinking that one of the cells is dead, maybe that revied it..
I had allot of battery things in my life, and i know this is a LI-ION battery but with old Nickel Cadmium battery's you could revive them in the freezer..
And always put my battery's in the fridge anyway, stops discharching procces.
I'll give battery bar a try.. Thank you
Don't think everest is accurate, always different value's, heard it from other people too..
While is was typing this, i remembered, Epower management has a smilliar option right? removed this ages ago -
Kallogan or anyone else want to try this.
In NibiTor after you load your bios, you can go to Tools -> Voltage Table Editor
and you can change the lowest voltage from 0.89V to 0.80V (this seems to be the lowest you can go)
Dunno if it will work at 0.80V but might drop some temps and not sure about overclock -
Yeah you're right. I didn't notice that !!! Well played
But i'm fine with my 0,89V it works like a charm and let me a little OC ability. So i'll pass on that, won't play with the fire too much ;-) I'm not that nuts ( at least for the moment)
Edit : However it could be interesting to put 0,8V on the three other boxes in order to save the battery when idle or browsing the web ;-) No Kallogan...don't try this....no
I would like to try a customised voltage too like 0,95V for example to gain a little OC without the heat lol -
Hmmmm, yeh it can't do any damage by using lower voltage,
but if for example if you set the voltage to 1.68V or something, then I guess you could have big problems and permantly damage something . lol -
I noticed something strange, in CPUID hardware monitor the CPU temp freaked out when passing 100 deg C, causing a negative temp reading (-26 deg C!).
And yes, the cooling solution of these acer 5930g's are really poor. I have an Asus M50SA with T9300 CPU (2,5GHz)/radeon HD3650, and max temp is 63 deg C for the CPU, also tested an Acer 6930G with T6400 CPU/Radeon HD4650 and max temp I could get there was 72 deg C under max load.Attached Files:

Hi Guys this my first Qute here ( sorry for my bad English )
i have a problem which is i moved form my winodws vista to windows 7
64 bit but the problem is that it reads 2.99 ram insted of the Full ram which
is 4 giga . i download the latest version of bios which os 1.23
and when i access the 64 folder that is already inside the Folder
i got 3 file ( 1 for EXE - 2 for System 3- for the data )
but when i excute the EXE it shows an error which is
{ Driver (WDM) init fail! (0X137) } so i need a full answer please
thanks -
-
I personally steered clear of the DOS flashing because I got an error like that (not a pleasant thing to experience).
I flashed my bios via Windows.
Make sure to have your battery plugged in before flashing.
Re-download the BIOS for 5930G, unzip it, go into x64 folder and run the EGR-123 file.
If you are still having an error of some kind, then try running the file as an administrator (Right mouse click on the exe file and select 'run as administrator').
I just did it again myself ... accidentally.
Works fine ... and I cannot be 100% sure, but I think the booting time has decreased. -
I'm trying Batman demo to see how it runs on our rig. Graphics look great.
I have a stupid question : If i change my hdd for a ssd and knowing i've already changed CPU, will the windows activation key be still operational ? Cause it's linked to the lap components i guess...
Edit : Batman roxxx ! I get about 40 fps with 600/1500. -
I locked my cpu at 1,6 ghz (lowest multiplier). I have exactly the same performance during batman demo. The cpu isn't used for graphics tasks in this game too apparently ;-) I will sell back my P9600 lol
-
Want to give me that P9600 ... I can use it far more efficiently in 3dsMax.
I cannot pay you right now, but later on ... definitely.
In terms of games, I think that 2.0 Ghz C2D is more than enough.
Most games focus more on the gpu power and not the cpu really ... I'm practically looking into a faster cpu mainly due to Max. -
When you install your SSD, you will have to re-install windows
However you can still keep the OEM license, by following the clean install guide on this site
LINK
I'd like a faster CPU
Would just make me happy, performance boost or not
But first, more storage in my laptop
Results out on monday so hopefully I'll get it soon -
Thanks for the guide BTW. There's a thread for batman demo in the gaming section. it's a kickass game. Don't forget to disable PhysX in the batman demo settings cause you'll get less than 20 fps if you don't. -
My screen problem has gotten slightly worse it would seem.
When I installed and played Birth of the Federation (an old ST game with the Ultimate Dominion Mod that improves the ship models and overall gameplay) after a period of time, my screen garbled up twice in a short amount of time.
The image was exactly the one I posted a while back.
It's as if everything stretches out with lines and the overal color is white-ish (with some variations).
I's getting disconcerting.
Yuck ... looks like I'll have to make a return trip to John Lewis, call Acer and arrange for them to pick up the thing and check it out, plus repair it.
I'll remove any passwords from the OS so they don't get all pushy.
But I'll also be pushy and ask for someone else if I get another idiot on the phone ... not to mention drill them for info at the same time before they pickup the laptop so it doesn't turn out they charge for anything. -
Yeah, you should
Seems serious now that its happening while the laptop is in use, and not just while turning on.
Definitely get it checked out, but constantly stay on their nerves and get all the info before hand so you don't end up with a massive bill (as these companies like to do)
Hope you get it fixed
I've almost had mine for a year, and I hope nothing happens once the warranty is up as that would really me off -
so i guess its a little picky -
Mine is 50/50 when using Imation discs
Quite a few coasters but others work fine -
Question ...
Would it be wise to write up a A4 format paper of the problem I am experiencing, along with describing the fact that temps are fine, there are no artifacts while gaming, and that this screen issue began to occur on a random basis usually when the laptop would be cold-started or the screen itself was inactive, and that just recently the screen started doing the same thing while in active use (still rarely, but obviously a sign the problem has gotten worse).
I also have to note the problem was appearing OUTSIDE of Windows ... prior to BIOS loading actually, which also effectively eliminates the problem being Software related and as a result Acer cannot resort to charging me ridiculous £70 just in case if they decide they want to rip me off.
I can sign that paper, include it with the laptop (keep a copy of it as well) and of course print out a colored picture of the problem as I captured it on my mobile phone and attach it with the signed paper incluced with the notebook.
I think this would actually help me in securing myself from potential financial fraud on their part because I'm covered by the warranty, and this is a problem not related to software in any way.
Heck even if it WAS, wouldn't it be their obligation to notify the customer at the very least and not touch the system and advise them to remove the software in question?
Ah right ... if they did THAT, it would mean they would actually do things the RIGHT way.
Sheesh.
I heard more than enough horror stories about Acer and their technical support.
Do you guys think writing up a paper on the issue and all, signing it and printing out the colored image of the problem is a good idea in order to possibly avoid problems if Acer decides to play dirty and charge me money for this (which would be ridiculous)? -
Hi guys, i just get acer aspire laptop 5930 with intel graphic chipset, 3GB ram, 250GB HDD. After i get it out of the box i reinstall OS to Windows 7 Ultimate Retail. There was not even single problem with the drivers. Only FingerPrint reader and soft was DL by windows update ... All was working great until i found out that OS does not see a jmicron card reader and Bluetooth (hardware) I did try to install drivers but in both cases OS says there is no hardware ...
I stuck at this point, if anyone could help or give any ideas how to resolve this problem i would really appreciate.
PS. Device mng does not show those devices at all... -
Well it's entirely possible they don't exist.
For example ... I have a bluetooth button on my laptop, but it doesn't do a thing. -
So all sorted
Thx for quick response Deks -
That used to happen on my desktop
It wouldn't see a card reader, but when I put a memory card in it would autoplay and show up
Good to see you got it working -
Anyone tried overclocking the GPU out of sync yet?
I'm still trying here, but my shaders fail above 1650mhz, unlike some other guysSaw some clocks over 1800mhz on shader
But for me they are most effecient at 1500, but that means that my GPU clock is only 600 and i did'nt like that so i started uping my clock and it's still stable at 715mhzI'm a bit carefull here, but i think they can go even higher.
Ok ok at this speed it's not so effecient as it was on lower speeds, but i'm trying to find the max and the best clock and i'm at 1v so i still can go up or down. Saw some guys that did OV the GPU succesfully at 725mhz(or higher)@1.16. -
ya... your right... i still cant understand how some people clam sow high clocks... i have (24h stress test stable) 620/1650/980... (gddr3) after this independently of overvolt or not... i can go as high as 700/1750/1080 and run 3dmark but not stable for 24/7.... -
hi guys need advice...between zalman nc1000 and cooler master infinite, which one did a better job on cooling down 5930?thanks in advance
-
I don't know about Cooler Master Infinite ... but I've been using Zalman nc2000 B ... and was able to shave off about 10 degrees C off my temps.
Check in the thread where numerous coolers were tested to see which one seems more appealing.
Although, I think the NC1000 (if you decide to get it) will be good just as the NC2000 due to the fact it's smaller, and you wouldn't have to push the laptop to the air holes on the cooler since I think most of it's upper surface is covered, unlike on NC 2000 B where some of the upper space was wasted unfortunately.
Apart from that ... I also think you might want to try creating your own cooler, which could end up cheaper and just as efficient ... the choice is yours of course.
P.S. I wrote the following text for Acer support ...please read and tell me if it's good enough in description of the problem and in possibly preventing them from pulling something on me (btw, the image of the problem I included beneath the signature in Word ... so the reason why it's not here is obvious ... but it will be in the printed version.
Feedback would be good and if something potentially needs editing, let me know.
-
Ok guys ... I shortened the text but could use the input on if it's ok and provides a level of insurance from anything they might want to 'pull' on me like they did with some other customers.

I'm still getting BSODs (blue screens) with the error code
STOP 0x0000007f (0x00000008, 0x80042000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
when the Wifi (WLAN) is switched on. It appears out of the blue (no apparent trigger) after some random time that the WLAN has been on. If I disable WLAN from the button in the upper-left corner of the keyboard, then the BSOD never appears.
I tried all the drivers I could find for this wireless network adapter (Intel 5100 AGN, on my version of the 5930G), but none kept the BSODs away.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? -
I have a laptop Acer Aspire 5930
and The graphics card Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family
Can I substitute him another type of card NVIDIA????
and How
And I could not, what is the alternative solution???? -
THE 5930 (NO G) MOTHERBOARD IS DIFFERENT FROM 5930G
AS IT IS WITHOUT A PCI-E SLOT.Last edited by a moderator: May 7, 2015 -
LOL
You're font is too small
Make it bigger
Seriously, though no need to type that big -
We are people who look to the content
And do not look for the outlook -
What the hell is happening here ? It's the fair of big letters or what ?
-
I know that most of these questions were probably answered before but it's just too long (129 pages
) so sorry for that
I'll be formatting my hdd soon and will install (thanks to my college's MSDN) windows seven x64 + windows server 2008 (haven't decided yet 32 or 64) + opensuse x86
so i need to confirm a few things ahead:
1:I only need GPU,touchpad, bluetooth, wifi, bios (i wana flash it for the ram problem),sound card and webcam drivers ........nothing else ?
2:the nvidia official driver 186.81 is the best or has dox made a better one ?
3:had any of you encountered or heard about any problems with windows 7 x64
or opensuse 11.1 x86 ?
4:did any if you UV and maintained performance ?
5:v1.23 of bios is stable, doesn't introduce more issues and fixes the ram problem ?
6:i sometimes hear a bit of crackling from the speakers and i've read somewhere it might be a driver problem (probably here) so has anyone fixed this with a different driver
7:i should get all drivers (except for nvidia's) and the bios from here http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_5930.html, right ?
oops lots of questions
-
1. I think you should be good getting just the gpu (whichever gives you best performance), BIOS and original soundcard drivers (the ones from Acer website, and installing them in compatibility mode for Vista to preserve the subwoofer functionality).
2. The official 186.41 would likely be the best actually given the fuss that was made over it ... although, I cannot really confirm this since I experienced a lower WEI score for the gpu performace with those drivers, and KOTOR 2 was behaving rather laggy in foggy areas.
So I will reinstall DOX's drivers and see if there's any difference in performance.
3. Be more specific, to what type of problem are you referring to?
I am able to run most x86 programs and applications without problems.
4. I have UV-ed my CPU using CrystalCPUID for the most part and maintained performance. Usually, UV-ing the CPU or the GPU will result in lower temperatures at stock settings and not reduced performance really (unless you are trying to overclock the gpu or the cpu in question while UV-ed ... in which case there will likely be a performance drop because higher clocks would likely require more power).
5. v1.23 of the BIOS is stable. I haven't encountered issues and of it fixes the RAM problem (I also installed it via Windows ... twice - the second time was accidental really, but hey, it worked).
6. Crackling is I think something that happens because of the higher bas levels in the music file ... and laptop grade speakers are not exactly suitable for deep bas production, so I doubt it can be fixed via the drivers ... but if you are referring to crackling sounds on a regular basis, then I have to tell you I haven't really encountered such issues (apart maybe from when the laptop was still new ... but this 'issue' disappeared on it's own ... leading to the possibility that the crackling corrects itself over time, if it's an issue to begin with).
7. Yes, but like I said, just download the BIOS and soundcard drivers (install soundcard drivers in Vista compatibility mode for the installation to actually work which will also result in your subwoofer functioning as opposed to using manufacturers drivers), all other drivers should be unnecessary since Win 7 will install the latest version for those (and they work great). -
thanks for the quick response
I can't seem to find any other version of nvidia's drivers except for the latest 186.81. should i be looking somewhere else ?
Edit:nvidia's website has a link for archived drivers but it only has 186.03 and 186.81
oh and i stumbled upon this manual/guide for our laptop if anyone needs it
http://rs460.rapidshare.com/files/152730222/AcerAspire5930_5930G_5730ZG_ServiceGuide.pdf -
186.81 is fine. Nvidia mobile drivers are the best. Don't lose your time trying tons of driver. But in case you have lot of spare time, all nvidia drivers are listed and available here ;-)
http://laptopvideo2go.com/drivers
May i sugget you to try latest Dox release 185.85 since it represents the only worthy alternative to official nvidia in my opinion.
http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/24003-forceware-185-85/ -
thanks
but i've already downloaded the official driver and i'm very short on time
but in a couple of weeks i'll be free to start UVing and optimizing -
Apparently this site has newer drivers for the laptop, so you might want to get them form here
http://gd.panam.acer.com/home/
The other guys beat me to the other questions -
I didn't check the rest of them but it has the same audio driver and the same bios
-
has any of you installed 64 bit windows 7 (was yours x64 or x86 deks)
I burned it twice once at the slowest speed 2x and the other on 4x
I also burned a G-parted live cd
so i went ahead and used g-parted to wipe my hard drive clean
made a 110gb ntfs partition for win 7
made another 60gb ntfs primary partition
another 60 gb ntfs primary partition
a 70gb extended partition unformatted to install opensuse later
that went smoothly without any hiccups
then I restart and put the windows DvD (the 4x one)
I choose clean install
I choose keyboard language and all that crap
It starts the installation
finishes first step in mere seconds (copying windows files)
then the second step (expanding windows files) is stuck at 0% for about 45 minutes and the optiarc drive went on a loop of spinning fast then slowing down making weird sounds (almost like old dot matrix printers)
so I google around and POW everywhere i look i find users with the same ing problem
all i could find is :
1:burn the dvd on slowest speed (done)
2:there are some problems with AMD's hypertransport change something in bios (i'm intel)
3:change device driver from IDE mode to AHCPI
so first I take out the dvd so the installer would stop whatever the it was doing
when it gave me the error message I shutdown the PC (pressed the power button and hold for a couple of seconds)
I pop in the Dvd i burned at 2x start the laptop
press F2 to change to ahcpi mode
and it's already at AHCPI
so i exit bios restart pc
and when it gets to the screen where it decides what to boot from where (the black screen with the flashing prompt in the upper left corner) it just freezes and the dvd drive keeps making the same sounds
so I shut it down raised the back and put a huge fan behind it and came here to write
and I'll try again in a few minutes when it cools down
but i don't think the dvd drive is faulty cause I've burned like 16 DvDs yesterday and G-parted worked flawlessly (although i chose for it to load in the ram )
please help -

Posting from my newly installed windows 7. Looks awesome.
Alright here is what I exactly did if any of you have the same problem in the future
I burned a G-parted Cd (slowest speed), two windows Dvds (slowest speed and 4x), two opensuse Dvds (slowest both)
1:use G-parted to format and partition your hd (if you want to wipe it for a clean install) orjust shrink and add partitions if you want to keep data and/or vista
2:install windows 7 the problems i had were:
first time I try it hangs on the "expanding windows files " step at 0% for like 45 minutes
I reboot but then it hangs on the screen where the bios decides what to boot from where (the black screen with the prompt on the upper left corner)
I shutdown the laptop, let it cool down for like 15 minutes till it's nice and cold "maybe this is the problem cause it really needs cleaning (it can reach ~80 surfing the web on my lap)"
I start it again, put the windows disc, the copying files step before the dvd is loaded is much faster now, but then i discover that the last failed install fuc|<ed 3 of the partitions so I format them again with G-parted
start the windows installation again and it works smoothly
(the expanding windows files step took about 11 minutes)
and that's it
I'll be installing opensuse later on today and I'll get back to you with a compatibility guide for our laptop
some other tips I found for the hanging problem ( didn't do any good)
1:change IDE device driver mode to AHCPI (was already AHCPI on my laptop)
2:some problems caused by conflicts with AMD's hypertransport (obviously not for us)
oh and on a side note
deks did your touchpad work normally without drivers?
cause mine worked fine but without (what is it called the drag browse navigate thingy) oh yeah the scroll
so i installed the touchpad driver and I'll get back to you with the results when I restart
and thanks guys for all the help
-
oh and what about the bios
I opened this file v1.23\v1.23\BIOS_v1.23_DOS_WindowsX86X64\winflash\x64\egr-123.exe
when the progress bar reached the end the laptop suddenly restarted without any warning
but now it says in the bios that the biosis v1.23
so no problems there ? -
Yup that's perfectly fine.
The program restarts the laptop on it's own after the flashing is done without warning.
It's how it's supposed to work.
And since your bios is now on v1.23, you don't have anything to worry about.
At least you haven't bricked your laptop as you feared and now you know that Windows flashing works fine.
As for the touchpad ... well I don't use scrolling anyway so I haven't really checked ... other than that, the touchpad worked fine. -
it worked fine for me too except for the scroll which was fixed by installing the driver
on another note
what are the speeds you get when copying files from dvds
I have the optiarc drive and I'm copying about 3 gb (250 files) of data I backed up before
and i'm getting really SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW transfer speeds (~240 KB/s)
it starts at ~5MB/s then as time passes it slows down till it reaches ~200 KB and I don't hear or feel it spin (although I do hear and feel it when it's at the start )
So it either slows down to this nightmarish speed or stops completely
what should I do ? -
You should try with an undamaged dvd ;-).
