try these, they work fine in my win7 install

Guys, I'm planning to do a Clean Install to Vista Home Preemium x64
Yes, I'm still on the factory install
So far I have downloaded the following 64-bit drivers:
--Broadcom Bluetooth
--Foxconn Modem
These are the drivers I have downloaded that have no mention of 64-bit/32-bit
--Realtek Audio
--JMicron Cardreader
--Intel Chipset
--Lan Marvel
--Launch manager
--Synaptic Touchpad
--Intel Shirely peak wireless
Will these work with 64-bit windows?
Also are there any other driver that I am missing?
I think I still need some SATA driver?
Also, how can I find out if my webcam is suyin or bison
Thanks -
All Those Drivers WORKED for me anyway on 64bit..
I think when you instal Intel chipset, it will instal SATA drivers too..
And about the webcam, tried both, and they both work
But on the other side, are ALL those drivers not a little to old?
Only thing i use is Realtek audio from Acer, because of the subwoofer and Lan Marvell because i could'nt find it somewhere else.
Don't think your missing anything btw, unless you use other things around your laptop, like an Logitech mouse, but most things you can choose between 32bit and 64bit -
ok thanks
BTW did you have to install any SATA related drivers? -
Nothing else for SATA, tried installing IntelMatrix, but i found there's no need for that. -
Ahh
OK
Thanks a lot man -
This thread has been dead for a while! Here's a little tip for people who have upgraded, or planning to upgrade to Windows 7.
You most likely have a problem with your volume control dial and Fn+F8 (mute) both not working. This was the only discrepancy in an otherwise smooth and trouble-free OS upgrade.
I've found a solution and that is to install the newly released version of Launch Manager (3.0.03), which can be found on the acer support site for 5920G. Just make sure to select Windows 7 from the drop down list. For some reason Acer haven't uploaded these onto the 5930G page but the 5920G one works perfect. Hope this helps.
As for Windows 7 itself, everything is working great. It's snappier than Vista, and generally better and cleaner all round. I'd recommend anyone to upgrade from Vista or XP. The only drivers you need are graphics, launch manager, realtek and synaptics, the latter three can be downloaded from acer support. I was lucky enough to get the Windows 7 Professional for free from my university MSDN account, so I had no reason not to upgrade! -
Hey, yeah this thread has died
Anyway, grats on moving to windows 7
I think I'll stick with Vista, because Official retail copies of W7 are really expensive here, and I don't think the upgrade to 7 is worth such a dent in my 17-year old allowance
Vista does the job for me
Might get 7 later on, if it goes on sale
Thanks again for the tips, because I think a number of people in this thread have already made the transition to W7 -
What Nvidia graphic driver is the best to use for now on windows 7 ultimate x64?
-
-
Yeah, it is true... I time ago this thread was popping in my email... now.. quite
However I also installed the Windows Seven here, my university has some program with MSDN and I can get then for free!
Performance is going good, a little bit better from vista, nothing that really make it worth to install, but the visual is amazing, some few things that make it really nice! The new task bar is also interesting to play around...
I am currently using the x86, with the latests video drivers directly from the NVidia website. It has some performance improvements in games as RE5.
BTW, I don't have any problem with the controls (FN button) of mine, even without install the acer programs...
But one thing that I hoped to get better is the white screen sometimes when I come back from the sleep mode or when the video goes off... Anyone has any solution for this problem? -
Guys, I just remember one thing that I want to ask:
I have been recording my self playing a little bit of acoustic guitar, but the build-in mic seen to not like my high-frequency chord...
Anyone knows if I can fix this with driver changes? -
Is the Acer 5940G the same as 5930G but with a different CPU and GPU?
Is this laptop able to overclock the CPU and GPU or is it locked? -
Huh, still some activity in this thread. Even though the last post was 20~ days ago it is better then what I would have thought!
Anyways, time has come and my little baby is soon to be one year old. I just received a email from acer notifying me that my last chance of purchasing the extended warranty is coming up.
Therefore I'm wondering, has anyone here purchased an extended warranty for their Acer 5930G? Any thoughts/comments/feedback would be great! -
hello im owner of acer 5930 and i have some questions for u all:
1. i read mosst of posts but i did not find anything special about upgrading graphics card i mean replace it for a better one, i know that its possible.
2. speakers, sometimes when im using winamp and eg. youtube my sound is becoming very bad something like ... bored robot ;p
please answer
thx a lot -
hello people new on forum here = )
Now im not sure if this being asked but.. sadly i have the lower end of the 5930G ( with 9300m gs video card here ) what i wanna know is ... if i can upgrade it and what card is best for it.
Thanks and kind regards -
Integrated gpu's by definition cannot be replaced because they are part of the motherboard they came with (physically soldered to the mobo). -
Hi everyone!Merry Christmas to you all!!
I've my acer almost for a year and I got to say...it has been wonderfall!!
Don't any complains about it!
Meanwhile a friend gave me a hp remote control 'cause his hp notebook broke down...and first I've tried on my father's acer 6930g and it worked perfectly but now that I've tried on my 5930g the buttons play/pause doesn't work!!All the other buttons work as they should but this doesn't!!Any suggestions??Peace -
Hey guys!!!
I was checking about our notebook, since today i did the first "cleaning job" on it!
Finally I saw my little bud from inside, and I was quite impressed that it still been kind of clean...
Well, after that why not check if the White screen of Death was not solved by some1? Luckily I found some stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cT0h58JACIU
I did it here, but still I am not so sure that this worked, because at least for me that was a problem of driver (software) not of some kind of wired problem...
BTW guys, do u know if can I go to lower voltages with diff programs, as I had been using the CrystalCPUID and stuck at 1.013V... (P7350)...
Also, I just checked if the HP control works here... yeah is the same as our fellow, just some buttons... I have sort of a program that works with IR, i gonna try to find the codes to work on out note...
Happy Holidays! Merry Xmas! -
@pekayatt
i have been using my acer aspire 5930G with Geforce 9600M GT for nearly an year now.. wow..
but it is after i installed Windows7 that i started noticing 'the white screen'.
the screen simply fades off to white (white washing) while gaming, watching a movie, powersave mode(screensaver at 10 mins).. and its a rather scary sight..
but anyways.. i am checking out the youtube link which u posted.. hope it helps..
good to see the thread still alive... and with good help when one needs it.. -
Anyway, now have been 2 days since i did the mod and still with no white screen... my temps are around 20oC lower after the cleaning... is amazing how it changes easily.. -
The white screen is something that happened to me on a regular basis (well, the screen exhibited all kinds of issues with proper picture display, but it stems from the same issue).
In my case (and for many other people who experienced the problem), it was the video cable that caused these issues because of larger amount of opening/closing the lid.
I opened up the plastic casing where the power button is (removal is simple since there are no screws).
You have to juggle the main video cable and position it so it's not as bent near the connection to the card (and/or the hinge).
There's limited room for juggling, so it's a minor adjustment.
Nevertheless, after doing this, my image has been stable for far longer time periods and rarely throws up (practically hasn't done something like that for the past week).
The Youtube video as posted on a page before this one is essentially what should help out with this.
The only thing I want to do now is overclock my GPU while it's on 0.89V (I flashed it's BIOS to apply the undervolt some time ago).
I think a stable overclock with minimum impact on temps (I think only a 2 to 5 degrees increase from my present low temps would be noted) would be 600/1325/800.
So, keep the memory intact, core and shaders increased by 100Mhz each.
I think this 'boost', while seemingly a minor one will prove to be the most stable at 0.89V (it's the safest upper most clock at the voltage that will likely work for most people) and still give us a performance increase we need. -
Ok ... I overclocked the gpu to 600/1500/900 (via Nvidia Control Panel).
:-D
Got 6460 3d Mark 06 score.
I would say that's rather decent.
But one of the more notable differences was that games were indeed more fluent.
I've been playing both Dragon Age and Star Wars Force Unleashed for the past 4 hours.
Temps were at 60 degrees for the cpu and a few degrees lower than 60 for the gpu even on these new clocks.
That's interesting to say the least.
But then again, the gpu continues to run at 0.89V with the new clocks, the CPU at 1.038V, and all that with a Zalman Cooler.
Perhaps I will experiment with the clocks even more on the gpu, bringing them slightly up (though I can imagine reaching a limit rather fast with the current undervolt of the gpu).
Hm ... perhaps I will try an increase that Kallogan has, test it, and keep it there if stable.
Question:
With the overclocks as they are now and temps as low, I find it doubtful that the gpu would experience a decrease in life expectancy, or am I mistaken?
Most arguments against overclocking is due to the increased heat being produced and shortening the lifespan as a result.
But since temps are hardly a problem (in fact, before the undervolting and cooler, they were by about 20 to 25 degrees higher), then is there a danger the gpu will have a shorter life expectancy simply because it's operating at higher clocks regardless of lower temperatures? -
Guys, just wondering if this memory will work in my 5930:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2GB-PC2-5300-...ting_Laptop_Memory_RAM_ET?hash=item19b90337e8 -
I have same types of sticks in my laptop, only from a different manufacturer.
Works fine. -
what's better, the pc2-5300 or pc2-6400? do you think it would be ok buying it off ebay, or better getting it from a site like crucial?
also, how do i check what processors i can upgrade to with the pm45 chipset? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Any modern core 2 duo will likely work.
-
Guys, another up question in the thread:
Did anyone already try the 3D Vision??? I was searching for the stereoscopic at my driver, on the NVidia Control Panel, but I could not find. I have installed the latest drivers, and used the .inf from laptop2go to make it compatible (cuz I was unable to find the option on the mobile driver also).
I just experimented it on a store, it was quit enjoyable, anyone tried also to give an opinion? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
-
, that give us the opportunity of try a stereoscopic in color mode, that one that we can use simple red/blue glasses.
I was assembling a PC in my work and when I installed the nvidia drivers of a GTX295 I got this options, so I came to search into my note, and even doing the update I could not find.
Yesterday searching into the regedit I was able to see that there're some entries that refer to this 3DVision, I changed then, but nothing happened.
I found into this forum about that and maybe if we downgrade the drivers and installed a modded .inf we can make use of this 3D Discover... but I didn't try yet.
BTW, my white screens still... today and yesterday I had then again, it's obvious a software problem, but I already format my system, update the bios, got the newest drivers, well I do not know what else I can do.. -
pekayatt
have you tried opening the plastic casing that covers the area where the power button is (the area to which the screen hinges connect to) and just lightly pushing the video cable so it's not so bent?
People, one last thing ... I realize that those of us with PM45 chipsets were told that we cannot upgrade to C2Q ... but, something keeps nagging me at the back of my mind regarding this.
Can anyone get a hold of a C2Q, try to install it into 5930G and test to see if it's actually working (with the latest BIOS of course) or not?
I know that it has been said the electrical output of pins is different despite the fact the socket is identical, but still, if there is a remote possibility ... -
Hey guys!
I have been reading great things about this laptop and just recently saw this laptop at a local store for about $630.
the specs are: Intel Core 2 Duo P8400, 2.26 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 3 MB L2 , 4GB RAM , 320HD.
Is it still worth the money considering the laptop is a year old or should i search for something else?
Want this laptop to last 2-3 years.
Thanks -

Yup it's the 5930G one not the plain
-
It's a steal for the price quoted.
If there isn't a laptop with say, a quad core cpu and the same gpu (9600m GT GDDR3) at the same price or slightly higher, GO FOR IT.
;-) -
I must say that I love this little guy, I did a small OC in the gpu and until now no problems..
I still need to change the the HD for one with 7200 and put some thermal stuff on the gpu and cpu.. -
I recommend that you undervolt the GPU as well to 0.89V (only the 'Extra' setting should be modified) by BIOS flashing.
that will keep the temps down even more.
As for putting a new thermal compound on the gpu/cpu ... not really necessary, but hey, if it brings down the temps even more, then do so. -
Guys, I was playing a little bit of SC:BW yesterday, in Win7 and my Acer freeze a couple of times, just stopped no signal of life... anyone have ever experienced that? -
Guys I used CPUGenie to UV to 0.925v and it runs perfect, temps down, but that app isn't free and theres always a popup at startup. Should I use RMClock and just manually input it to run at .925v? How would I go about doing that? I only know how to do it from flipfires post, and last time I tried it, my system kept freezing, so I'm guessing I did something wrong.
-
It seems that my CPU is stuck in 1.013V, I can't go under, as with CrystalCPUID or RMClock.... -
-
I put a shortcut in the startup folder of windows, and it is starting automatically, but still I need to press F3 and send it to the systray (if you click on the icon of it in the tray it minimize to there).
After my exams in the university I gonna try it! Thx for the tip! -
I tried playing with CPUGenie, but alas I got nothing with it.
Btw, since my temps really don't go over 61 degrees C under heavy load for both cpu and gpu, is it possible we simply can't go any lower than that due to the limit of having both the cpu and gpu on a single heatsink?
I mean, I'm hardly complaining.
Those temps of mine are amazing in comparison to what I was getting under stock settings and full load.
Just wondering if the load temps can go even lower than 60 degrees C on this lappie.
If not, heck, 60 deg C under heavy load is more than enough to ensure this little guy won't be desecrated by insane temperatures. -
Hello everybody,
I have Acer 5930g and few days ago I bought 3.5" esata hdd enclousure with 640GB wd HDD. It works very well and its speed is perfect in comparison with internal 2.5" HDD, so I decided to install Windows 7 on it. But when i was trying to do that, I realized that Boot from esata choice is not in Bios. I tried to select Boot from USB disk, but it didn`t work. Do you think if there is any way to boot from esata on this notebook?
Thanks -
hi all, just wanna ask, I got an Aspire 5930G, P8600, 4GB of ram, but only 3GB accessible by vista 32.
If I upgrade my bios to 1.23 can vista access all 4G? -
-
At the same time ... you will need to upgrade the BIOS to 1.23.
I had to do so in order to fully use 4GB under x64 OS (for some reason the earlier version of the BIOS limits the RAM use to 3GB).
What I'd be interested in knowing if the 1.23 BIOS supports over 4GB RAM.
-
Deks
Which driver version you using these days?
My current driver (186.82) is giving high idle temps
Mid 50s
even thought laptop is clean -
I have 4GB, Vista32 is recognizing all 4GB, but utilizes only 3GB.
If Bios 1.23 can make it utilizes all 4GB, then it'll be a good reason to upgrade the BIOS. I tend to avoid upgrading BIOSes unless really neccessary.. Risky process.
I read from this thread there are 2 ways, via dos and windows. How did you update it?
I do have a friend that own a computer store, after updating BIOS, if I'm freeD), I'll go down his store and beg (nag) him till he let me try 2x4GB RAM hehehe..
-
I thought you said x86..
I seem to remember from the first pages of this thread somebody tried BIOS 1.23 and fully use 4GB with x86 (I might have misread too though) hahaha..
So I opened up the bottom, seems clean. The fan was clean. From outside the air vent was clean too. Curious, I removed the fan. The dust was so thick between the fan and the air vent. And with the fan installed you won't be able to see it. After cleaning.. gone back to steady 40-70C. Gaming got to at most 86C. But steady no more overheating shutdown.
