yep your right... did that myself, so that I won't forget anymore ;)

But what I want to know is if the GTX 280M will fit in the slot?

(max. 800 MHz at MXM2 cards and with up to 950 MHz at MXM3 cards)

So apparently there are 2 different models for the 280M

what does our 8930G support MXM2 or MXM3 etc.?

    couldn't find that :( and unless i'm sure I can't buy I 280M offcourse

    Sorry for my Ignorance...
A 8930g with a T6400.....apart from its CPU.. Is it exactly the SAME computer as the 8930g-7665 ?
    I mean after changing its CPU....will that laptop be a 8930g-7665 ?

    Thanks.

Is it important to get a 8930g with ' NVIDIA 9700' as graphic card?
If it is 'nvidia 9600'...is it  :) much worse ?
    If yes why ?
    Can I upgrade fron 9600 to 9700 ?
How much for that upgrade ?

    Thanks

The 9600 is basically the same chip as the 9700. Only the 9700 is clocked a wee bit higher. You can overclock that 9600 chip so it in fact becomes a 9700. The 1 gig memory you get on the 9600 nowadays compared to the 512 meg on mine is a nice bonus ;)

Hope this helps you a wee bit

OK to prevent unnessesary questions... 9700GTX 9750 9800 etc etc.

    check: http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-9600M-GT.9449.0.html

you'll find that the 9600 & 9700 are 65nm chips, so technically all 65nm should fit, BUT the biggest problem is that the ACER bios doesn't recognize most GPU

also... I think the 9800GTX is best 65nm, all newer card are 55nm or smaller

I would like to get a very powerful laptop....I need to use it for intensive FLASH jobs.
Playing General and Command as well.
    Visual Studio, VB.NET...programmer stuff.

I am set to buy this laptop[see link]....and I would like to upgrade it a little bit.
    1) I wanna change its CPU with a Q9100 or a dual-core X9100.
is it possible ? Are those CPU compatible with that Laptop ?
2)Is it possible to add a 500 GB internal-hardDrive to increase its storage-capacity.

********More IMPORTATNT: Can you see anything missing from its specifications as compared to a "8930g-7665"-gemstone ?

THANKS in advance to each EXPERT that will Help with ADVICE. ;) :)

unless you know what your doing, i would suggest buying the right laptop with all the right hardware from the get go.

Replacing the cpu or graphics card might be possible without taking the entire laptop apart. But! You could also damage your components or misinstall the heatsink to the hardware, causing major (temperature) issues.

Again, if you need this much advise, then perhaps you should find the right laptop with the right CPU and GPU from the start.
Modifying it in any way could/would also void warranty.

Flash isn't that intensive, neither is C&C generals (for this laptop).
I have a quadcore and a 9700m GT, it plays everygame I have thrown at it without any issues. Prototype, Crysis, Section 8, Sacred 2.
    No problems what so ever.
I also devellop software, it compiles way faster then the PC my boss set up for me.

I have multiple degrees in the ICT business, if this is not an experts advise I don't know what would qualify.

    hi

Can you please give me some advice

I did cancel my order for Dell studio 17 which was £912

now I do want to buy 8930G mainly because it has bigger 18.4" screen
but I have few questions :

    - is this Acer model reliable ? I do want to use it for office work, mp3, basic paintshop, net and maybe 5% games

    - most places are out of stock is there any 8930G comming soon with better spec ? PCWorld has the one with T6600 800Mhz 2MB , 4GB RAM, GeForece 9600M GT, dvd rom, for £799, so buy this one or better wait ?

    thanks for your advice.

Replaced the T6400 in my 8930 yesterday for a P8600 and I must say it was very easy, took about 20 minutes. Getting the old CPU out was simple; there is so much space in there that it almost seems to have been designed for upgrading. I can post details if this would be helpful to anyone else wanting to upgrade the CPU in an 8930.

PC world are a complete rip off for laptops. Argos have a much better spec for £799 (better graphics and has blu ray, better processor). Depends what you want to spend because there are really good specs for under £900 on other websites. The screen is brilliant on this laptop.

    For example
    http://www.aiop.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=14620

This one is £60 more than pc world yet is a lot better in terms of spec. There are many othe websites that sell for less than pc world but better spec.

    Woo nice man... ;)

can you post PICS.. and or maybe more info, like for example price of the CPU etc.

maybe even a Benchmark via 3DMark06 so that we can compare the CPU scores
this would help me and others alot to decide if it's worth the effort/costs :p

    EDIT:
1 question why not the P8700? it's only 2euro's more but 2.53Ghz instead of 2.4Ghz

I was getting the exact same thing it would just turn off mid gaming so frustrating when I looked at the temps the CPU seemed fine around 70C but the GPU was shwoing 105C.

I just took the back off and gave the fan and exhaust some good blasts with some compressed air. It is such a crappy heat sink array and tacky fan it's a lot to do to cool the cpu and gpu so keeping it free from dust etc is a must. Anyways it not sits about 80-85C which is much more stable.

One thing though im not convinced about is if it was the cleaning or that there is an intermitant fault with the sensor that increases fan speed based on heat Im sure the fan wasn't always spinning at full wack when heat got to a certain threashold.

So be honest ....do you really think that for some Games 512 mb is not more than enough ??
Which game is out there that needs more than 500 mb RAM ?

Say the Truth ! ,uh ?

    Thanks ;)
