OMG.. I've never used BT before since I got this 8930G but since you had a problem.. I thought well lets test it and connect my WiiMote+ nothing!!

Just like you said the pushing of the button a W7x64bit doesn't doe anything even installed the BT software etc.but it won't install because it doesn't find the BT..

the wierd thing is though... I allways thought that t probably wrked because when I boot the machine the light(blue) lits next to the BT button and then turns off...

I don't know why it doesn't work ill try some more today!

EDIT2: strange thing that it's not displayed in DeviceManager and not responding when I push the BT button.. no blue-lights unfortunatly

    BTW: HAPPY NEWYEAR!!!! :D

I installed vista X64 yesterday. I kept my PC on for whole night and when I checked in the morning, I had a message on screen that "System has recovered from a critical error" which was a result of a BSOD. I am testing further.

I hope its X64 bad driver case.

Hi, I have the same thing with my 8930G.
Turns out I have no Bluetooth whatsoever, so I guess you don't have bluetooth either.
If you go ta acer's site you'll find that Bluetooth is installed optionally.
And if it's not stated that it's installed, you are left without it.

Well it's not that big of a deal to me but thought i'd let you know.

VT-x Enabled!!!! Don't know how, I didn't flash the bios, yesterday it wasn't enabled. Today I did a secure erase of my ssd but I don't see any link... However the fact is that cpuz, windows and intel utility are telling me that VT-x is enabled! that's good news. I'll try to find out what happened and tell you if I find something interesting.
    Cheers

We'll it's not the DC jack for me, but the sound-in jack seems pretty loose. I often change quickly from headphones to speakers and vice versa, but once i noticed this i do it so gently

I have an old Acer Aspire 6935G laptop with a cracked screen.

I have bought a new screen but am wanting to know how I get the black surround off.
I have poped the 6 black covers off that cover the screws.
One on the bottom left, One bottom right and the 4 along the top.
The surround seam to be held along the bottom and dont want to snap it.

    Anyone any ideas?

My power in jack broke after 3 months - I had to unscrew the hinge and resolder as the black wire had broken - it's happened again since also but again, I resoldered to fix.

Considered sending 8930G back but then thought aboout the hassle and decided to do it myself!

Is there anyway to update the software / touchpad driver etc.. to get the mouse pad to be "multi-gesture" compatible as I have seen on the most recent Acers (ie zoom in and out but moving finger and thumb diagonally)..

Also - what's all this VT stuff - what does it mean to the performance of your 8930G? numpties guide please..

Well VT-x is in fact the virtualization technology of intel. I believe it has no (or a little) influence to the perfomance of our laptop. The fact is it has always been disabled in our bioses and no way to activate it. It allows you un make some softwares run (software which need virtualization indeed). For example you can emulate windows XP thanks to it (without any install). For me it's just great great because a lot of old games won't run with Windows Seven, and I didn't manage to install XP... So It's good news for me ^^

Yes I had the same problem after about 8 months! This is one of the CONS so far I found with the quality of this laptop. Since I had no clue how to fix it, i went to the acer support site. I just had to package it and used the original box because of the 1 year manufacturer warranty. They sent a courier to pick it up for free. It took a few weeks to get it back. Everything is fine but I have a feeling it will break again. The adapter plug they made is very awkward or something and also the jack on the laptop itself. The plug is angled and slightest pressure moves around. My sister has dell laptop and the plug just goes in straight and stays put. I think this could be a major problem they should be notified of if this is happening to many users.

After running Windoes 7 Ultimate X64 (again), I have encountered absolutely no problems with drivers or softwares. Also managed to get Office 2010 X64 beta installed. On PcMark Vantage, my system scores 5622 which is decent I believe. The only 2 quirks I have with our monster laptop are brightness adjustment issue and laggy keyboard (which I believe is a design fault with all 8930G's) Otherwise, what a laptop !

Here is a pic of cpu-z. As you can see it shows VT-x and before yesterday it didn't, and that's exactly the same version (no install on my external hdd). I can start virtual box from linux and from windows so, VT does seem to be enabled. Cheers!

I don't see how you can have enabled VT without flashing the bios. Have you tried running xp mode in windows 7 x64? This will tell you whether you really have vt enabled. I enabled mine by modding bios.

I have Vt disabled in my bios and it shows in cpu-z , it must just be showing if the cpu can support Vt , not if it is actually enabled on your notebook.

Just outta interest i decided to download the latest CPU-Z and it shows VT-x, but a previous version of CPU-Z (v1.50) didn't list it. I didn't mod my bios either, must be the app.

It`s just a new feature, if you want to know if you have Vt enabled on your notebook and not just built in your cpu use crystal cpuid or securable.

cause even I have VT enabled after updating to that bios !!! :D
EDIT: Needs to run that software in 32 bit OS. and my VT wasn't actually enabled.
Microsoft's own tool found here is more accurate

SecurAble must run under a 32 bit version of windows to determine whether VT-x is enabled or not. Click ‘Click for more’ in the Hardware Virtualization field of the wee program and you’ll see this:

    Hardware Virtualization

This processor does offer advanced hardware support for virtualization. However, while running under a 64-bit version of Windows this program cannot execute its 32-bit kernel code to determine whether Intel's VMX virtual machine extensions are being locked on, locked off, or neither. Since there's a chance that your system's BIOS may be deliberately disabling support for hardware virtualization (some do) you should re-run this program, if possible, with administrative privileges under a 32-bit version of NT, XP, or Vista. That will allow SecurAble to run a bit of kernel-mode code in order to determine exactly what's going on. (Note that you can also poke around in your system's BIOS to see whether you're able to find any references to "hardware virtualization" or "VMX", etc.
