I guess I need help on this. I just have failed twice, and both times in epic fashion.

First one: Wasn't able to find a Slic 2.1 enabled 1.19 BIOS for my 8930G. Possibly my fault, but Google failed too in this.

Second: Followed our famous guide step by step. Patching of the file was error free and flashing went fine too. But then after rebooting the laptop something changed, but not in the way I expected:

Windows 7 doesn't detect my new virtualization hardware after booting, so I guess that I enabled VT but it remains locked (?).

    I'm definitely hopeless in this.

EDIT: Ok. Google told me that "Locked on" VT is what I want and therefore that I succeed. But then why doesn't Windows 7 detect VT?

Windows 7 doesnt detect VT. Its the Virtualization software that detects VT enabled in Bios and uses it so that performance loss of using a Virtual OS is minimal compared to software emulation.

Download and run Microsoft's HAV detection tool. Here

OK. I have successfully enabled VT. SLIC 2.1 is what I'm after now. Any URL to a modded 1.19?

Installed, extracted, patched and flashed again. SLIC 2.1 + VT enabled working flawlessly. Thanks.

    Hi 9830g owners :)

I want to replace the original cooling fan (Sunon maglev ZB0508PHV1-6A)
    because its a sucky fan.
(by the way.. does anyone know what the speed is of this fan?)

I found the following fan on the internet :
    Acer FAN.SET.VERTICAL.3600RPM.LF :
    http://www.acesdirect.nl/product/1767232/acer_fan.set.vertical.3600rpm.lf_fan.set.vertical.3600rpm.lf/
    it fits for acer 8920g & 8930g.

I have a few doubts that this is the same fan like the original in the notebook..
Though the original fan goes under a different part n° than the FAN.SET.V.. one.
Also nothing any sunon fan's can be found on the acerparts website. Just the Fan.set.vertical like you see here: ( http://www.zandparts.com/acer/product_info.php?products_id=33415

In case these are 2 the same fans, would it be a good idea to connect the fan wire to and usb cable so it could blow continously, instead of stopping all the time..?

Edit: Forgot to ask what temperatures ur GPU reaches while gaming??

    thnx!

This bios is only Acer 8930G 1.19 with SLIC 2.1 ADDED!! NOT VT ENABLED!

You will have to follow the steps to get VT ENABLED in this bios.

You can flash it secure 1000000% :)

    Hi el_zari,

I am glad to read your answer !!!
Now I understand what is the way :
    1. Write your .fd in eprom
    2. Backup bios and Patch VT by python 2.6.4 (or 2.6.5 ?? it's the same ?)
    3. Reflash the new bios <slic 2.1 + VT>
    4. Many many many Thanks

If can I ask some other about the certificate in slic 2.1 is the one Acer ?

There is a DMITools.exe found in board russian and DMI_2043.exe english.
The first read all but can't write, the last is super !!
I wrote back the serial number, UUIG there was before, but I haven't the ASSET number, anyone who can get from the bios (F2) or by Everest program or other program would get for me, please ?

bought the same x9100 from same ebayer! although my S-SPEC number is QBDW..don't know the difference really. I think it has to do with eniginering model or OEM or retail..mine is Enginering and so Intel Doesn't give support (intel's CPU identifier tool gave me the info)

REAL fast delivery from China! but they forgot they coolingpaste..:-(

Anyway, it was real easy to place the CPU (thanks to the people in this Great Forum) works like a charm.
Have trouble with frame dropping in GTA4 though..after playing for like 1 minute or so..and Dolphine Wi EMU isn't working for me..games run in same slowmotion speed as my T6600 @2.2..think both issue's have to do with in game settings..so I still have to figure it out. maybe the GPU is getting to warm, I have to check all these things.

Next Step is SSD drive :)and fresh install of Win7Ultimate 64BIT; which is ordered by now.

    @Shanee,

Thanks! Definitly going to check the TrottleStop thing. Looks amazing, and from the users reactions it is a masterpiece of software. Will do some logging and check if there something to win there!.

Any1 know which battery will fit this model of 8930G: 644G32MN.
    I cannot find it anywhere:
    The only ones I can find are compatible with: Aspire 8930G-584G32Bn / 734G32Bn / 844G32Bn / 864G32Bn.

Who Knows what the spare part number(s) is (are) for the battery's
I had found the service manual on this forum that the factory uses, but I deleted it from my computer...any1 knows which page of this forum holds this document.

    Thanks ALL..!

I would have thought that the battery for all of these models was the same? They're all the same model, 8930G, but with different hardware specs:

    8930G-644G32MN

    64 - T6400 processor
    4G - 4GB memory
    32 - 320GB HDD
    M - Multi DVD-RW drive
    N - Wireless N

    8930G-584G32BN

    58 - T5800 processor
    4G - 4GB memory
    32 - 320GB HDD
    B - Blu-ray drive
    N - Wireless N

    etc.

I'm not aware that any of these different spec levels having different batteries?

Yesterday I received a P9700 cpu which is 2,8 Ghz and only 28 watts. As it sometimes occurred after 3 or 4 hours of gaming my laptop suddenly shuts down with the x9100 due to heat. There where other factors but I must say this P9700 really amazes me. The laptop states it could run for 2,5 hours on win7 X64 on a full battery. So I guess I will be selling my x9100 very soon.

Installed them yesterday too. But I got in some sort of loop. When installing it said the system detected drivers, will uninstall now, and after reboot new drivers will auto load. But after reboot it says windows needs to finalize setup, press here to reboot. After reboot no new drivers where installed. Still the old ones. I had to remove it manually with ccleaner in order to run the installation. But it is working.

Hi, agreed the 197.16 drivers do not seem to have any of the issues earlier ones seemed to have had. How on earth a gfx manufacturer of NV's standing could release drivers that can potentialy break a laptop, then take weeks to fix it I don't know...

    Hi all!
Alright, update since my last post ---
Updated to BIOS 1.20 (didn't hack it again, but VT still works), upgraded to the Verde NV graphics drivers and installed the beta flash to accompany, and I've seen a huge increase in the performance on online video. (Though it has to be in a 32-bit browser. Not IE64, Minefield, etc.)
Also, I upgraded the RealTek to the version released 3 days ago, and my speakers no longer *pop* as was reported with earlier versions.
Updated to the newest launch manager and the Cinedash console doesn't work right now. All it does is mute and hold. Not a biggie though, just an annoyance. People at campus are still amazed by that! :D
I've noticed that some people have gotten their WEI Graphics up past 5. Mine is stuck at 4.8, before and after the newest driver, while the others are closer to 6. Not too worried about that though, because I get about 90 fps in Combat Arms and my engineering software (Autodesk Inventor) is better than a quad-core hp. I just wish the software wouldn't crash BUT...I digress
Thoughts, comments, questions welcomed. Hopefully I can help someone! :D

    Hello,

Anyone happen to know how to disable the bluetooth button to the left (as described here) before I ultimately take a screwdriver and take care of this piece of design malfunction once and for all?

It has to be possible somehow right, even if it is through a registry hack... it wouldn't surprise me if it comes down to that when it's Acer we're talking about.

I've reinstalled and removed everything I could find regarding LMconfig but that button is unaffected by that program.

No or is anybody likely to. Acer seem to have the policy of no longer informing consumers of changes. It is very poor service imho as bios flashing is a risky business and no point in doing it if update isn't relevant to you.

I haven't seen any notes for any bios upgrades to this model. My old acer 5685 laptop did have notes for its bios upgrades.
