well i got the nvidia quadro fx 3700m from here the cheapest on net. HP NVIDIA P N 488125 001 Quadro FX 3700M 1GB MXM He Video Card | eBay but after reading someone who got it working in there acer 8930g he put that it requires more wattage to work at moment i have 90w and said that you need at least 120w. annoying thing is i get it today from parcelforce after paying custom charge of £37.96 which i find bad. so it wont be till next friday when i get paid will i buy that charger to test it. the nvidia 512mb 9700m is great card i read someone put on youtube any card that is 512mb can run anything, adjusting settings so it works well. i do all my gaming on my acer 8930g and played loads, have xbox 360 but if it comes out on both pc and xbox i buy it for pc.currently replaying kane and lynch 2 dog days. also only when i get 120w charger and see that the quadro fx 3700m works which i will download the gtx 280m drivers to turn it into that card would i consider selling that 512mb 9700m how much was you thinking if i did sell?

hi got my nvidia quadro fx 3700m today.as put earlier I can't install it yet as someone in forum said it needs 120w not 90w to work.but looking at it I thought it would be like the processor with pins to take out and insert. Looking at it I can see its not its the one I sent you link to.so how would you fit it into machine if it like processor and seems attached to board.also greddyrx email me on [email protected] with title Acer forum so I know it you.so can anyone who fitted the quadro card tell mw how they fitted it thanks

 

so i neeed 120w or 150w charger to make card work when buy it the charger which you think everyone 120 or 150w for 3700m. i think now i will also replace my bdrom drive with the replacement i got. as now wont be using drive as much as getting western digital either 2tb or 3tb external hard drive for films. and got my blu ray player lg one and amazed with putting films on usb stick and straight away they play even mkv format and even more amazing it recognizes srt files for subtitles in films.

I am reading the forum for quite some time and I would like to share my experience and ask for help from anyone to give a hand. My acer came with the P8400 cpu, 9600m gt DDR3 ram, a single wd 320gb @ 7200rpm and with the 1648 x 965 resolution.

So far I replaced the cpu with the X9100 and some artic silver paste (C0 state but no problems). Replaced one dimm with a 4GB one granding a total of 6GB. Also got an 120watt psu.

Lastly I bought an quadro fx 3700m but having some issues. Couldn't find drivers to work.

But when the card utilizes direct 3D content it gives a BSOD reporting nvlddmkm.sys crashing. Anyone to willing to help?

 

hi when i fit my when i get my 120w charger is go to the nvidia.co.uk site and download the gtx 280m drivers as read it same card as that the quadro fx 3700m is. with the drivers for the gtx 280m it will turn the card into a geforce card for use in everything.

 

The driver from the nvidia site doesn't recognise the card. Both quadro and geforce report no hardware found. Only the modifited inf from laptopvideo2go manages to install drivers. I also installed them to a fresh installation of the windows.

Did you manage to make your quadro work like this?

which driver was you trying to install and i not installed card yet as i need to get the 120watt charger this week friday. i read if you install the driver gtx 280m it works and turns card into a geforce card. maybe uninstall inf drivers and then try.

 

I found one cheap on ebay so its ok. Now do i need a new heatpipe for the 9700 or the one from the 9600 fits?

 

Yes you will need the heatpipe fitted to the 9700m. The one that comes with 9600m is too small

I Have a Aspire 8930g and i'm looking to upgrade the RAM from 4Gb to 6gb or 8gb (if possible). Nowadays I have 4gb in two modules of 2gb DDR3.

Other features of the laptop:

Intel P8600
Chipset PM45
Graphics: Envidia GeForce 9700M
Hard Drive: 2 HDD 320Gbs
Bios 1.20 (i have read there is a new bios 1.21 but i'm not able to find it)

Is it possible to upgrade to 6gb? Or i reject the order? I have searched by google and i don't get a right answer. Some people say it's possible and other one its not.

Can Confirm 60.AP70N.001 would be the heatsink you need if ever wanted larger mxm 3a gpu.

AKA thats the model Number of the Bracket you need to use a Quadro FX 3700M or a 9700M GT

had to trawl through this thread and about 5 hours over a week on the web to confirm it.

put that into amazon and it should come up.

 

yes 6bg is the max and will run great on 6gb

ordered my 120 watt laptop charger now so the quadro fx 3700m i had waiting in house for ages to be fitted can. so next week will take out my 512mb 9700 and fit it in. and then go straight onto net and get the geforce driver gtx280m and change to gefore card hope it works as someone put it works to do that. install, go nvidia site get those drivers and everything ok.

 

Is there any place to get windows 8 drivers for acer 8930g? Or just look in different web pages for each component?

 

it should work with most of the parts off the bat

and anything that doesnt that you cant find a driver for windows 7 drivers work fine


for bigger batteries there are a few on ebay but its all trial and error to get one that actually charges

 

I recently installed Win 8, and as Squee666 everything (except the fingerprint reader and the Media Dash Panel) worked fine.

I don't use the fingerprint reader so didn't worry about that but I loaded the Acer Win 7 Launch manager and the Realtek Audio drivers to try and get the Media Dash to work - but no luck. However after about a week or so it suddenly started to work -weird.

I also went to the Nvidia site and downloaded the latest drivers as the ones loaded by Win 8 were the basic MS ones with no Nvidia settings in the Control Panel.

 

cant see acer doing any new drivers for the 8930g as its to old now .
win 8 installs every driver anyway, the only thing that doesn't work properly the volume control
for latest drivers go to the manufactures sites .
my fingerprint reader broke months ago so I left the driver off anyway

 

Please share your results with the quadro

 

You can find it on your local acer parts dealer using the part number you will in the next post starting with 60........ or find the code from the service manual (google it). Either seek for it in ebay or amazon. I bought mine from acer spare parts a lot cheaper (22 euros)

 

This is very strange.
When I first installed Win 8 the Media Dash never worked - even after installing all the drivers.
Suddenly, yesterday, it started working (after 2 weeks of no operation), and today the volume control even started working (ie it adjusts on scrolling the dial whereas before it only adjusted by pressing the top or bottom of the dial.
So it seems like an auto update may have resolved the previous issues with the driver !!

 

mine still only works by pressing the top or bottom of the dial, win8 is all up to date

 

I did say it was very strange
I'm not sure why I had the problem of it not working - then working (but not volume slider) - then the volume slider working.

I certainly did nothing which could have caused the changes (as far as I know), and since posting my previous message I have discovered that Win 8 is not even up to date - there are some updates pending from yesterday (before it started to work).

 

Have you made it work with the drivers from Nvidia? Mine still fails to utilize any 3d content

 

still no news on installing quadro as waiting on 120w charger first before fit it. charger should arrive this week

I have change one of the RAMs from 2Gb to 4Gb. Now i have 6Gb in my computer. All detected, all working

Next step an SSD? Let's see (By the way, the HDD connection is it SATA II or SATA III? I guess it has to be SATA II but i'm not sure)

 

8935g suddenly died??
Hi there, i am new i this forum and am online by phone at the moment, a little confusing så sorry if i am posting wrong. I really need help with my newly bought Aspire 8935G
Bought it the other day, secondhand and at a nice price. Former owner told me that if playing for long it would shut down and just needed to be cleaned. Wel,l when i got home i discovered that only 1 ram stick was in it at 1gb and the blueray was removed and replaced. He tricked me a little i think but it was cheap :s
I then decided to install 4gb of ram in it and a t9300 cpu from p7550 (a downgrade sort of i know.
Suddenly i wouldnt start up with screen. Only black screen, all lights on as usual, fan spins up and then back down, hdd spinup, cd spinup but no screen and nothing more, just black.
Here is what ive tried so far.
Total disassembly, cleaning dust, reapplying paste, 3 different cpu's, an nvidia gt130m, 2 other sets of ram, another hdd, about everything mentioned in other threads but nothing, just an empty black boot.. any advice, any knowledge, would rlly like to have it working again so i cqn start upgrading like hell.

I have a problem with my Blu Ray drive! Is not reading any Blu Ray disks and dont writes DL disks!

I had a problem with my BR Drive last year. It suddenly stopped reading BR discs, but it would still read and write DVD (don't have any DL discs so didn't try that).

I found the easiest solution was to buy an external BR drive which cost me a lot less.

Like this one for example - or spend a bit more and get the BR writer option.

 

Hi just installed quadro card and when turn on I get black screen and keyboard don't work can anyone help me

tried for a while angry lol i hear boot noise and nothing on screen can anyone help just had put 9700m 512mb back in

 

been reading and says need to uninstall video card drivers for my 9700m then once done then shut down install new card and then continue. says new card always work on lowest resolution so thats why you have to uninstall vid card i hope. its annoying doing the constant take apart then put together again.

also anyone having probs with there chargers where it not making it stay on adapter have to keep fiddling with wire in laptop.

Update so I uninstalled video drivers for 9700m.shut down Acer installed quadro card then turn on its the same as before only diff is that cine dash lights up when touched.really need get this card working today pc won't boot with card nothing on screen at all.I know everyone has had this problem I want to be able get it working with card today

 

As from today I decided to remove the quadro from my system. Bottomline is besides the fact it crashes too many times reporting that windows tried too many times to recover the video card. It was happening when I started dxdiag and even when I opened a movie file with media player.
Lastly on gaming paerfomance is way better than the stock 9600m GT but when playing SKYRIM at high settings, the whole system was shutting down after 5 minutes of gameplay. GPUz reported that the temparature of the VGA before the shutting down was 105 oC.

So if anyone can give me any advise I will abandon the project.

I will overclock my 9600m GT and my X9100 to gain as mych as possible

 

Artic silver 5 on video card will stop it overheating and shutting down worked fantastic on my processor and gaming.


update on installing of quadro card. so i uninstalled 9700m drivers installed bios v1,2.1 shut down fit in new card turned on black screen yet again. it wont show anything on screen with this card. then someone said u need to add inf files to make it work. can someone who has this card pls help me out as getting angry with constant putting card in and out to see if working.

now after all this hassle i cant put back my existing drivers saying driver failure when install nvidia driver did everything driver sweeper to get rid of exisiting nvidia but still same. last thing i can think of is to go over windows again with disk to maybe fix problem.

 

Since your laptop can't boot the new card then maybe there is a problem with the card itself and not your laptop. As the modded drivers you can find them at the drivers section of laptopvideo2go after installing the correct video model (061E) and sybsystem (01451025).
The driver problem seems to be the the least of your problems since the card wont boot up.
For your existing card get into safe mode and clean up the drivers. Download againthe original from nvidias site and install

 

can you give me the correct drivers you used dont get that site seems a mess when go to it. and i fixed the nvidia fail prob with going over windows 7 again as clean up drivers dont work. so these numbers you give me wat i do with them i put them into drivers section do i need the inf or the driver the inf was not found when tried. really had enough wanna please can someone who managed get fx 3700m work message as i now think waste of money on card. also did you try the gtx 280m driver to make ur card into gforce card on the nvidia site.and this is how i did it first time shut down pc take out 9700m put in fx 3700m no screen, then update bios from v1.2 to v1.2.1 and still nowt.

 

Is there a new bios instead of actual 1.2v? What improvements does it have? And where can i found it?

And second question, If i change the hard drive by an SSD do we have in our PM45 mainboard any SATA III conecctions or are all SATA II?

 

From the main site of laptopvideo2go click 'drivers' onto the green line.

Put at the box next to DEV '061E' and to the subsys box '01451025'
These numbers can be located at the system properties -> device manager and going to the vga adapter tab at the hardware ids tab.

Click for cetified drivers and also click for windows 7 64bit or 32bit

Click filter and press for the latest version

At the next screen press ok or next and then you will see 2 download links. One for the drivers and one for the modified inf. Save both files with right click and 'save as'.

Extract the drivers at a folder and inside there you will find a display drivers folder. Inside you will place the modded inf replacing any existing one.

Run setup and you are good to go

 

Yes there is an unofficial v1.21 that enables VT on proccessors that support this feature.
About the Sata I think that both are sata II but that doesn't stop you from placing a sata III one

 

only sata ll but sata lll will still work fine just the speed will only be at sata ll read n write speeds

 

hi i did as you said but are these the drivers for the quadro to make it boot on screen, as i have newer drivers i got for my 9700m. also the inf file says not found but the driver does download. if i got both can i then boot up and see stuff on screen and get to windows then after go and get the gtx280m drivers from nvidia site did u get them drivers and try it out. getting probs with my charger the blue light on power switch keeps flickering and i have to have connection push in certain way now to make light stay on charger and i get a strange sound from it also . so if i did install the drivers u say i can then shut down fit in quadro and restart.

 

Drivers wont make the card boot up. Since you can't boot up you propably have a faulty card or the laptop doesn't recognise the card.
As for the drivers you can download a previous version and not the latest since it doesnt download the latest.
As for renaming to gtx is another story a little bit complicated.
Lastly my charger does the same and the previous one didnt. Propably the internal cables didnt accept the extra mamps and cause problems

 

but as you said you had the card working so how did you do it and for anyone else how did you do it.i was hoping play my games on the new 1gb quadro but seems it will never happen. what have you done with your quadro then.
