And where can I found that bios?
-
haven't seen any real info as to what 1.21 does over the 1.20 well besides having VT turned on, my 1.20 has that anyway -
Since it boot up, I installed the drivers the way I mention before but there were other problems.
Diect 3D and aero theme cused BSOD, after undervolting and lowering the freq of my X9100 to 2,5 GHz and removing one HDD the system was a lot stable. Seems the card draws quite much of juice. I even installed my P8400 which has a lower thermal design (25Watt vs 44Watt of X9100), still problems even when loading movie files (BSOD, and BSOD, and BSOD......).
Finaly in game perfomance, skyrim was a lot better than having my 9600m GT (OC to 625/900) but laptop was shutting down because of overheating problems.
Next step will be to buy a new artic silver 5 bacause I used one I had for 4 years and try either to mod the laptop fan with a bigger, or mod the acer bios to fire up the fan before the card reaches high temparatures.
Stil I am not pleased of the benefits that I might gain. Stil looking for solutions since none cares to drop any extra info. -
why is this site so hard to log in. you log in and then shows you are then you find it did not then you click on forum then shows your not then acer then you are then you go to post comment and then shows you need log in. about card had enough wanna smash it up had enough. ppl on this site have confirmed it working and so far all i did was shut down take out old card put quadro in load up black screen and i read others before saying black screen. the chip part of the card when fit in card i fit in here it go in and feel it i put paste on it and heatsink and all good and then load up black screen. not only this problem with card but dumb neighbour supposed be buying a dvdrecorder vhs combi he keeps saying i buy it and then one excuse was i dont know where you live when are building are joined together and takes 20 seconds to get to his from mine. wanted to be able to play my assassins creed games i own on the quadro even though play nice on the 512mb 9700m not tried revelations yet. but did see vid of someone playing on youtube assasins creed 3 on 512mb 9600m and ran great its all a matter of settings when comes to games. plus i did notice a performance boost from my 2.53ghz to my x9100 card. i sold the 2.53ghz card and stupid paypal have put pending on funds from 14th december to 8th jan no reason why and a few times buyer contacted me saying u sent yet i said no for this reason. as long as thernal paste no shutting down but dont think things should be overclocked at all as this just damaged stuff.
-
overclocking stuff is fine if you don't get carried away
my X9100 has been overclocked since the day I fitted it well over a year ago and is running great
the only reason to get the X9100 over the other 3.06ghz cpu's is that they overclock -
Does your X9100 reporting correct temparatures? Mine gives a static reading everytime the laptop boots and stays there. I haven't pushed it too far because of that
-
-
On my 8930g cus they split the hard drives I have xp on one 7 on the other but since probs with card now xp drive won't load xp annoying.also about site cookies and remember me always ticked and ages to log in.so I think bout this ovrerclock as long as artic applied it ok but don't trust it still think overclocking things is bad. Also did you also have a quadro card.think bios v1.2.1 messed up windows xp loading might have install v1.2 as found no change in v1.2.1.
-
I'm not a expert but, it looks like not strong enough power brick. If You look after laptops with this configuration: X9100 + fx3700m, then, I think, the weakest is HP Elitebook with 150W psu; Lenowa W700 have 170W and Dell even more - 210W power adapter. Then realistically thinking 150W should be minimum for this config and if You want oc cpu or/and gpu, then probably about 180W is requierd. -
I have found a way to control the cooling fan manualy, I have ordered a new artic silver 5 and I will be using the 302.50 version of drivers from laptopvodeo2go since they are the ones that appear when I filter them with Windows 7 64bit. 310.70 appear when I click win 8.
Next in line there will be a bigger power brick. Till the my good old P8400 will acconpany the quadro in the forthcoming experiments -
when i installed my quadro which gave me a black screen i plugged in my 120w laptop charger which not even have power cord luckily i used the one of my other charger it felt loose in the laptop too ACER ADP-120ZB BB LAPTOP CHARGER AC ADAPTER 19V 6.3A 120W MAINS BATTERY POWER SUPPLY UNIT: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories i only got the 120w charger as someone put before quadro wont work with less but still black screen. i really wanted to get the quadro working but seems like it dont want to work at all.fits in good artic applied every perfect but when i turn on nothing happens. not only that i sold my 2.53 processor i had before to some dude for 50 pounds on ebay to wait for payment when he said it sold i wait ages from 14th december until now 6th jan to be told he cancelled it even though paypal put pending on payment and not say why. buyer and i both from uk so he then says you never sent it thats why i said i not gonna send it until i get payment but again same thing then tells me on 6th i cancelled it as not know what going on you never sent. i attaching pic of both the quadro and the 2.53ghz processor i tried to sell
i put the artic silver five on it also and was ready but now it sits in that box in pic i hoping it wont dry up but i know it wont as the 9700m i applied in june still fresh and wet. i thought i show everyone this pic i am very proud of my laptop and what i done. i was getting wear on the touch pad and it started to make the laptop look terrible as the grey had worn of and was showing white underneath. i got some masking tap put it around the touch pad area and got some black nail polish and coloured it all in looks very good. rarely i might feel like going over areas which have wore away from use but its dont wear off bad just tiny little not noticeable areas.
think my charger not good as read someone say he using a 150w charger for quadro but a 120w will do just fine. but is it correct that if my charger not powerful enough the screen wont come on with the quadro card. if someone could show me a charger they have on amazon which is good enough for job i will purchase it friday.
new update amazing thing happened. had problem with laptop with charger where if i put it in the blue light on the power switch keeps flickering and very rarely will shut down by itself. but if i have the adapter in a certain way it ok but you do here the noises from it been inside laptop. so i decided take it apart unscrew all inside to give it a look and clean i saw like a red wire attached to the jack and 2 black ones inside a black sleeve attached to laptop. after messing around i was shocked to see i had removed the 2 black wires attached to the jack inside laptop and thought damn this will be my first time going to laptop shop with this laptop to get it fixed. so after putting the plastic back to cover the charger and leaving the 2 black wires not attached to anything i decided to maybe give the charger a go to see if boots up or see if i go to shop later today. i was amazed the laptop was better than ever with only having the red wire in the jack inside laptop and the 2 attached. there was no flickering by the power switch at all and the blue charger light was permantly stil and not move no matter where i had the charger. can someone explain this to me why its working better and still working at all even though the 2 wires are not attached. -
what a mess, who put that paste on?
that's way to much you're meant to put just enough to cover the chip, about the size of a small grain of rice max and then spread it around the chip(look on youtube as to how it should look)
artic silver can be conductive so should be kept off the micro resisters which are covered on that pic(that maybe why you cant get it running) and its also on some of the ram chips by the look of it.
I use Diamond 7 , Diamond's five times better thermal conductivity compared to artic silver and is none conductive -
That's a mess indeed. Needs to be cleaned off.
Arctic Silver is not conductive- it's slightly capacitive if anything but not conductive. -
-
it was a small amount but with the heat sink on it spread and when i lifted it off it made the paste go on rest of it. so is it correct that if not enough power i wont see nothing on screen with the quadro. the bios v1.2.1 dont work with my xp drive so had to go back to v1.2 and all works again. but with the 9700m card display works fine but not with the quadro. i guess its cus the 9700m was always the highest on the site when buying it so nothing was done to make the quadro work. i had problems with my charger so i took the cover off and i accidently removed the 2 black wires but charger still works. but i noticed now the black wires must work the wireless as i can connect through phone but now error on it. i dont know what was causing the charger light to keep flickering.shakenstirred what video card you got in ur laptop. also if you overclocked your card from 3.06ghz what is it now and i still think it ruins machine but i did notice when i put the x9100 better speed in darksiders 2.
-
as I said it other post a small grain of rice size is all that is needed.
watch this video and you will see just how little you need as it spreads along way.

the overclock will shorten the life of the cpu alittle but by then it will be well out of date and you will have upgraded by then, its not really a factor , I have been overclocking cpu's and gpu's for 17 years of owning a pc and have never had a cpu or a gpu fail -
so ur saying it can do bit of damage to cpu u can just buy another processor to replace also wat video card in ur machine.and bout the laptop jack wat think caused prob also you think the 2 black wires was to do with the wireless.
-
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2 -
It says everything but the video card will have take shop to get that fixed and also remove hair stuck in screen. What vid card u have in urs squee
-
ahh your right my bad.
im using the 9700m gt btw -
just as an example, say the cpu has a life of 10 years at stock speed, overclocking it could and im say only could shorten that life to say 9 to 9.5 years. but who is going to be still using that cpu after 9 years.
as I said in 17 years I have never had a cpu fail me, so its not even a factor in should I overclock or not.. Intel make there CPU's cover a range of speeds(so one cpu may cover a range of 2gig to 3.4gig) and then they lock it to a set multiplier after tests, some cpus are set at 2gig and others 2.2gig and so on up to the 3.4gig max from that version of the cpu , the X9100 doesn't have a locked multiplier so we can set our own which is why we buy it.
I still have the stock gpu in mine, when I was looking to upgrade it the other ones cost way to much and all were in the usa, so left it stock although it its overclocked too -
well since i cant get the quadro card to boot up wasted money i asked computer shop person i know he said quite possibly be the charger not powerful enough for the screen to come on but that sounds weird the 120w charger i got dont do nothing and dont hold in well like my 90w does.
-
cant see it being the changer also, as the quadro doesn't use all the 120w all the time so it should boot to the desktop at least as that's in 2d so wont be using anymore power than the old card.
the laptop only draw full power from the charger when needed, i'd have thought it would boot into windows fine and just crash if you tried to run a game where the quadro would be trying to draw the full 120w.
also it should still boot up when on the battery with any card as I said the quadro isn't wanting full power to run just the windows desktop and they wouldn't make a laptop that has to be connected to the mains to work would they lol
sounds to me that the card is dead -
If card dead how can I fix it to make it work

I am making one last attempt to make the FX 3700m work. Looks like the power in not an issue after all, nor the drivers. I even upgraded to the latest bios, still keeping the same problems. I evel lowered the clocks to 250/500 and yet th card was giving me a BSOD if I choose an aero theme or start a movie with media player (vlc was playing flowlessly).
Seems that the heatsink doesn't cover the whole surface of the card. Other modela that have the quadro as a stock part, have even larger heatainks to cover the whole card excluding the two parts that are on the outer limits. Propably they dont't participate on 3d rendering because games run without problems (until the whole core overheats) after seeting the fan to maximus speed via manual setting.
Probably at the parts of the card that the larger acer heatpipe doesn't cover resides 4 capacitors that generate large amounts of heat. Even after 5 minutes of system startup their surfaces are extremly hot. They maybe are parts of the video engine i persume.
They need to be covered. I will make a final attempt to modifiy the heatsink adding more copper to it in order to cover those parts and direct the heat to the vga heatsink or the cpu heatsink witch is a lot cooler.
If that fails, the card will be put online for sale. I had enough. -
i contacted the seller on my quadro card in usa. told him problems not even boot or anything its dead said sorry to hear it and said if you post it back to us i have given you a rma number whatever that is. does he mean post for a refund or post back to say he got it to sell to someone else lol.anyway with help of this forum laptop is more powerful, with more memory been added and a higher processor, shame bout the video card but my 512mb 9700m plays everything i give it i do have to reduce resolution on some but i find it plays well on alot at 1366x768. but now with my x9100 i can get even more power in games. i gonna dread when games start using 1gb of graphic memory and like 256mb video memory we used to have in games as requirement comes useless so might the 512mb but did see someone on youtube playing assassins creed 3 perfect on 512mb 9600gt so its all about the settings in games that alot dont know to get good performance.did get a few stutters in sleeping dogs on my older processor of 2.53ghz
-
one thing though clean it up so you cant see the mess that's on it now or they could try n say you broke it. -
Well after a lot of effort I decided to quit. Even after a placing extra copper the card seems to crash a lot an overheats too much. The card also cries out for an HE tab to get more juice as I may believe that the extra power that sucks from the standard connector makes it overheat and shortens its life.
I put it on line for sale and sold it before I manage to finish this post.
Anyway, the card would have given a great boost to this old horse.
Next stop is to get a 9700M GT and add an DVB-T tuner. -
This happens with every charger I tested. the native 90w , an 120w and 150w.
With the 150 it crashes a bit less though.
The difference with your description is that mine crashes within 5 mins at best.
In ubuntu and in windows vga mode everything works fine.
Ubuntu uses the full potential of the card and not crashes.
I guess the problem is mainly driver related. Im thinking of making a clean install. Have you tried it? Did it have any result? -
What do you mean that in ubuntu the card is ok? Have you tried any softare or a game and everything is ok? -
I tried a lot of programs and web pages with flash as well. I also did various opengl benchmarks. It crashed once in one benchmark when it reached 115 celcius near the end of it. When the card was cold thebenchark finished at 108 temperature with no problem.
I'm thinking that maybe those who managed to make the card work used winxp or very old nvidia drivers.
I havent found a way to make the cooler work at will to keep the card cooler to avoid overheating -
I also added more copper to the heatsink but still no luck with the overheat.
I never managed to even start a benchmark programme. It crashed at start. Only one managed to start called vmt and it gave me some results. Others like OCCT crashed on start.
Correction. The program is called AcFanControl. Search NBR and you will find it. Fan control offset is 153 with settings from 0 to 6. Any more info, let me know -
ty. I decided to stop trying as well. Temperature rising was too much. in msi kombustor it reached 110 in less than a minute. I'll put it on sale as well and overclock my 9600gt.
I'll defintely try acfancontrol though -
Hi, I'm trying to find a BIOS with Intel VT enabled, but can't find one, all the links on this thread are down. Please help, I need to virtualize a 64 bit OS, but can't right now. Thanks

Other useful offsets that I have determined through trial and error:
GPU sensor offset is : 159 & 158
CPU sensor offset is : 156 & 157
First number reacts more quickly, 2nd number is slower.
It would be nice to increase fan to maximum prior to intensive operation rather than let BIOS react to temperature changes. -
hey guys, i need some help,
basicaly i just replcaced the thermal compund on my laptop, and ive just looking at the tempartures of my laptop idling, and wondered if this is about right, im hoping some one can take al look for me, im going to attatch a print screen of it,
also, i had a weird proplem, whilst fiting my heat sink, i oticed the screen wouldnt turn on, i removed the heat sink with the laptop card still in and the screen turned off. i then wrapped some selotape around the broznze heatsink and fited again, this appeared to do the trick. has any one else had this problem or is there a solution to it ? i dont like the idea of selotapelol
but yeah would be greatful if some one could advise me on what my temps should be and stuff. any info would be useful. thanks in advance. -
i advise you replace that cpu thats a 65nm dual core so temps are normal.
If you get p8600,p8400 etc you should get a nice speedbump and temps dropping to 20-30c and also if your ram is ddr3 it will ump up the speeds as the 800mhz fsb cpu is throttling the ram -
Well i get my new 9700GT and now my setup is intel 8335 CPU and 9700gt. And the problem starts. I am using throtlestop and i can only make it work at 1.050 2660mhz. Not at 2.926 at is full. at any voltage. Also when i raise the GPU via EVGA presicion X it closes after a few seconds of gaming. I canot monitor the cpu temp because it is stuck. Any segestions whats wrong? Everything is put together well.

Anyone else who needs it is also available. Also anyone with a way to keep it online, please share the knowledge. -
Also monitor the 9700GT with cpuz, ticking the option keep monitoring in the background to check into what temparature the system crashed.
Maybe try the OCCT programme for components burn in tests. Run the test for the 9700 GT and see how high will the temparature will get. That of course is not accurate because when you are gaming, both cpu and gpu generate heat, but it will give you an idea.
Bear in mind that the card with the OCCT must not exceed 90 degrees. As an example, my 9600M GT works nicely on 750/1000 with the OCCT workning and giving me a peak of 80 degrees. -
Hi Guys
Does anyone have the AS *** code number on the battery for an 8930? am having huge trouble trying to get a new one, so far had 2 that dont work using the silly acer part number
much appreciated -
I had 3 from the same supplier and the first 2 would not charge - the third did.
Apparently they are a problem, and even the Genuine Acer have been known to have problems. -
I keep getting the 2 Battery not detected icon, i need to roder a decentish battery fast as im away on a course next week , its driving me nuts
would just like the part number off a genuine battery so i can look for one as Acer dont have any stock grrrrr lol
