This would be great news if it's true. Have you verified it? If so how? please post details.
I ran benchmarks in both Balanced and High performance and High performance was faster.

DAMNIT I only get noise when doing this
i've got 3810tg->HP LP2457w->Teufel deocoderstation (supports DD/DTS) connected with digital coax
I'm using media player classic with k-lite codec pack -
High Performance: Balanced:
3DMark03-7453 3DMark03-7758
3DMark05-5056 3DMark05-5133
PCMark05-3923 PCMark05-4009
3DMark06-2619 3DMark06-2647
I realize the change is minimal (+2.6%), but quite visible! Sorry for not posting any screenies, made the benchmark runs 2 days ago.
Cheers -
Can you run WPrime or Super PI, something that measures CPU speed alone? -
Interesting news
Or try Geekbench. It's my favourite, because it's small and light and has an online database. -
Wprime on su3500:
122secs on balanced
124secs on high performance -
Is there anyone else with working Ac3/DTS output?
I also checked my receiver with a dvd player and got no problem on the coax input. -
Sorry if this has been asked already but after going thru 30 of the 100 pages I lost th heart.
Can you get a Timeline 4810 with the SU9400 C2D? -

As it seems, the Changes are all within the margin of error / tolerance given by any repeated run on the same hardware. Positive Changes indicate faster runs on Balanced Mode, negative ones are faster on High Performance.
Basically, it all indicates that my previous presumption was wrong. But still, its strange that in Balanced Mode one can see the jump to 1.6Ghz whereas High Performance Mode stays right on the money with 1.4Ghz.

Here some Screenies i took:
Sorry for missing out on the WPrime Balanced Run, accidentally closed the program before taking a screenshot :-/ -
@jaybee83
How long does it stay at 1.6GHz when performing the benchmark? Is it the whole time when CPU is under heavy load or just occasionally for a second or so? -
Ha, thats the thing, its always changing randomly. sometimes it jumps up to 1.6Ghz and stays there for a second before going back again, other times it stays there for a while. Its quite erratic, but it shows that it IS possible to get the SU9400 up to 8.0x multiplier. I wonder if there is any way to make it stick there manually...
cheers
PS: Using ClockGen or SetFSB is out of the question, I already sent an email to japan asking the guys programming SetFSB if the PLL used in the 3810T was controllable. But nogo, its read only :-( -
Hmm..
It might be an error in the BIOS. But like you say, it is very promising
su3500 and su9400 can handle 1.6GHz and I hope that we manage to force it to 1.6GHz somehow. I will try to find a hardware MOD when I get my 1810t or 1810tz. If there are BIOS hacking experts out there, it would be nice if they could have a look at the BIOS to check if there are possibilities. -
Oh, that reminds of something I read here at NBR just a few weeks back....There is some sort of Jumper mentioned in Intel`s Chipset Manual, where one could change the FSB from 200 to 266 (or 800 to 1066 Quadpumped), resulting in the CPU going up to 1862 Mhz, a 33% OC. Anyone think the CPU would be stable at that clock? One could manually increase the VID to the max. setting of 1.188V using CPUID, for example to get more stability.
Greetz -
What is the part number of the clock generator?
I'm not sure about a jumper method. It depends on the board and BIOS design of the manufacturer if he includes such things. -
the 3810T-PLL is: RTM-875T-606
Im still looking for the thread where the jumper was mentioned. Ill come back to you first thing when I find it -
Oh yeah I installed an OCZ Agility 120 GB SSD and my computer boots in 14 seconds. I have the 3810T-6415.
-
Actually I read(read is the wrong word, I had to use google translator) on a Chinese site that someone wrote an application that managed to overclock a CPU that had this clock generator on board.
Have you tried other clock generators of the Realtek RTM875 series from SetFSB's drop down menu? If one of the other clock generators doesn't generate an error when clicking Get FSB, it would be a good first sign. Often the registers of different clock generators from the same family are very similar. -
There's no way to make the single-core su3500 run as a duo core, right? (it inly has one core?)
Is there any way to control the fan on the 3810t? -
Like I said on the Aspire One board, some people have tried SmartFan on 3810t but it didn't work(in Vista/Win7). There might be other programs to try, I don't know. -
For those of you who have the synaptic touchpad, Check out this video. After that you'll find out the scrolling is disabled. Then Do what is suggest in the comments: open a tab and search up dell touchpad. Now, this boggles my mind. I would like to get to the bottom of this amusing mystery.
Any Ideas? -
Hi guys!
I new to this forum and I own an Acer Aspire Timeline 3810tz. My laptop did not come with an optical drive and now I'm wondering how I might go about downgrading it from Vista to Windows XP? I have already purchased a Usb Cd-Rom drive and skimmed through some nLite articles, but I'm still getting the blue screen 0x0000007B error. I'm guessing it has to do something with the SATA/AHCI driver but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. -
@igaryy
Go into BIOS and check if you find an AHCI setting and disable it. -
Btw, heres the thread where the PLL i mentioned, im also closing in on the Jumper matter....

This is the site but it doesn't help much I think:
http://ctt.haseebbs.com/viewthread.php?tid=125353
Apparently that guy changed PLL registers so maybe it isn't read only after all. -
@der_mali
HA! nailed it, here it is:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=388133&page=14&highlight=acer+3810t+PLL
post no. 133
check out the linked pdf and tell me what u think about that
PS: I especially like the part where it says:
"The system clocks and spread spectrum clocks are provided by the CK505D (EU6H1)
clock synthesizer. The FSB frequency is determined from decoding the processor BSEL settings. The BSEL settings can be manually changed via jumpers J1G5, J1G3, and J1G1 (Refer to
Table 17)." -
-
I've saved it on my SSD and will study it tomorrow when the beer has left my brain
Edit:
We shouldn't set our expectations too high, though. Sometimes BSEL settings are ignored completely and the BIOS defines the settings. Especially on systems where the CPU is soldered on and can't be swapped.
@igaryy
Have you put the error code in google search, yet? Unfortunately I don't know what's wrong. -
Hi
Can 3810t with SU3500 and 4500MHD handle some old games, like Warcraft 3, CS 1.6 and Flatout 2? -
High: 11.6 fps
Medium: 12.5 fps
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkTpTSdzpM8 -
I'm getting around 40 fps in cs 1.6 with my su2700 and 4500mhd. I must say though, it can drop pretty fast in certain places. I can see de_aztec being a problem. But then again, I play in window mode, if that makes a difference.

Has anyone else experienced problems with scrolling using the Synaptics touchpad? I have a 3810t and every once in a while the ability to scroll using the touchpad just stops. It usually comes back 5-10 minutes later, but I have no idea what causes the start/stop.
Anyone else experience this and have a solution? I've already tried updating to the latest device drivers and that didn't seem to help. -
It is possible that this is related. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdnLQ5gPqVc
I had problems with the scrolling as well. The solution is usually to hit space. I made a comment about this a while back. (or do what i thought was the fix and search in google "dell Touchpads" =P) -
hi for all timeliner...
I'm interested to buy this stuff to replace my toshiba m300 ( cus it's bulky and heavy ), but still confused what model should i buy, is it su3500 or su9400 cos of the price n performance.
Just want to ask if i'm using notebook with this scenario :
1. Running excel with 2MB files.
2. Opening outlook that has 2GB personal folder
3. Firefox with 10 tabs
4. Ie with 5 tabs or more
5. Winamp.
Is su3500 enough? Or should i get the su9400? Assuming like 3 program that i mention running together ( often i'm running number 2,3,4,5 together )
Thx for your answer, it would be a great help to me... -
I'd go with the SU9400, but I think there is a small penalty in battery life.
-
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
-
I don't know recent availability of models with the SU9400 though. I was looking for them a month ago but they were impossible to find.
-
-
It should work. I have done what you listed with slower CPUs without problems. But it's hard to say though - for example with the Excel, it depends on how heavy the data crunching is. I said to go with the SU9400 mainly because if you can get it, there are no significant downsides that I am aware of.
-
SU3500 is equal in performance to a Pentium M 2.0GHz. -
if su3500 can do those task i dont want to buy su9400 cus the diffrent is like $300 and with that much money i can buy something else like external hardrive or even ssd. -
SU3500 will be able to do it. But what will happen in two years when all those applications have become heavier...
Also, some people don't keep their Windows clean and that will become heavier too.
Adding SSD is very smart because it wiill greatly improve Outloook and other programs loading times. -
These things are just hard to predict until you find yourself in a real-life situation. Some web sites with video or flash are more demanding than others.
I am surprised by the price difference though - are you comparing similar systems? I would have guessed that you'd pay at most $50 for the SU9400. If it's $300, I'd look at a T or P processor (but giving up a lot of battery life). -
Well if su3500 can do it than i'll buy it, i don't want to waste $300 for su9400 if su3500 can do it and i'm sure in 2 years intel will have replacement for these lineups proc.
also i choose timeline cus i'm looking for gud battery life, light, And i can do my office activity without many problems.
So i should get su3500 right? -
Yes. Worst thing you have to do is to close a few applications, limit your multi-tasking, but I think that should happen rarely if ever.
-
Some people install 30+ applications that install background processes and then wonder why there computer is running slow. -
Well luckily i only install a program that i need cus i like to keep my windows clean, btw Thx a lot phill and ifse for the advice, i've made up my mind now. I 'll go with su3500.
-
hey I dunno but I'm running on ext. power an the fan is off most of the time!
I'm working on an ext. monitor connected with the vga port and switched to the intel graphics (won't work with hdmi).
edit:
oh I'm so sorry... the powersupply was just loose... -
