well, its basically trial and error: just install one and see if the webcam works! same goes for the touchpad driver, since theres basically no way to determine which model is built into ur laptop beforehand.

Shoot. Maybe the USB hardware ID could give a hint?

My Imaging Device/HD Video Web Cam says under Details/Hardware Ids:

    USB\VID_064E&PID_A133&REV_0311&MI_00
    USB\VID_064E&PID_A133&MI_00

Now the INF file of the camera driver should have something corresponding...

I have a 3810TG, and have sent it to Acer to service the recall issue. I think they just changed the microphone cable.

I went down to the service center in Singapore in person because I wanted it to be done within a day. The service was fast and hassle free (took about half a day).

I was told that they would have collected it for repair and courier it back to me free of charge, but it would have taken a few days.

Coincidentally, my microphone stopped working a few weeks before Acer announced the recall, so I would have sent it in anyway.

Overheating was not an issue, in fact this is the coolest running laptop I've used thanks to its ULV CPU and chipset.

I noticed that 3810TZ configurations listed at Acer USA do not have CPUs with VT. These models have the SU4100 rather than a SU9400 or SU7300.

At first I thought the TZs were the only new models but there is also a model AS3810T-8737 with a SU7300 if you need virtualization.

Hi all, I baught 3810T with dual vga mode. I have trouble, because basically I DO NOT NEED ATI 4330 HD, because I want to longer battery life. Also it lags on my solo processor, while Vista switches between graphics adapters.

My problem is I cannot connect lcd tv set to my intel 4500 mhd video adapter. Seems that intel can work only on single display...

Does anyone expierence same problem, or just me?

btw ArcoSoft TotalMediaTheatre runs 1080p on SU3500 and both graphic adapters at 30-50 perc. cpu :) (this is why I dont need ATI adapter).

for full HD and 3-5 cpu usage for single core timelines with x4500mhd download and install the latest drivers from intel s site and then use splash lite hd to play 1080p files. 100% guaranteed. connected to a hd tv via hdmi and a home theatremakes it the best htpc due to the complete lack of noise because fans spin very rarely

I'm wondering why is the DDR3 RAM running at 800 MHz instead of 1066 MHz on the Acer Aspire 4810 Timeline?

The speed can only go as high as the FSB (800MHz) for the culv processor.

Oh I see, but is there anyway to try and unlock it to be faster? seems kind of pointless to have DDR3 ram without the performance of a DDR3 ram

If you have the dual-graphics (ATI + Intel) version, then you only need to install the ATI graphics driver for your model. Do not install the Intel Graphics driver package.

The ATI Graphics driver package for dual-graphics systems already includes the Intel graphics driver.

Anyone with 3G-enabled Timeline AND Windows7 x64 here? It seems to me that Acer's Launch manager for x64 Win7 have major problems with wifi/3g sensor-LED-button _when_ 3G modem is installed. It actually unable to switch between wifi/3g modes. But when Launch Manager software is not installed, everything works just fine. Also it's works fine in Acer's "native" 32bit VistaHP.

    So, my questions are:
    - anyone experience the same problem? if so, which modem card and Launch manager version you are using?
    - is there a way to tune Launch Manager so that it will not take control over one particular button?

P.S. I've tried to use the following modems:
    - Option GTM380
    - Option GTM382
    in my Timeline model AS3810TG-354G50n.

    hey there,

im using a AS3810TG-944G50n Timeline model with an Option GTM382 3G Modem and Acer LaunchManager version 3.0.0.5 installed on Win7 Ultimate x64. So far i havent had any problems at all switching between wifi, 3G, both, or all off. But as far as i know, there IS a possibility to reprogram the touch-buttons to ur liking, just check the first post on the first page of THIS thread! ;-)

    cheers

    Hi,
That's very strange! I have the very similar laptop and the very same modem as well as 64bit Win7 Ultimate, and I've just tried 3.0.0.5 again with no luck :( So, more questions:
What BIOS version you are using on your 3810?
What firmware version of your GTM382?
What drivers you use for GTM382?

im using BIOS 1.14 (funnily, it was only available for a short time, when u check the download section of the 3810 now, its not there anymore. also question to all of you: u think that the BIOS of the 4810 and 5810 models would be interchangeable? i mean, since all the drivers and programs obviously are....)

using 5.1.30 driver aaaand conceeeerning the firmware.....gotta check first ^^

    Well, I'm also using BIOS 1.14 :)
Could probably try Acer's 5.1.30, but I think that 5.1.32 from Option makes not a much diffrence. As for firmware, I have Acer's firmware flasher of "2.8.1Hd" and -tadam- brand new flasher from FSC with version "2.9.5Hd" which, as stated in readme, allows HSUPA up to 5 mbit and reduces power consumption...

Still no luck. I just have reinstalled Win7 x64 Ultimate from scratch, and then installed only one thing - Launcher 3.0.05, and its not working - I cannot switch on/off Wifi :( I'm going crazy... dont know what to think...

Two types of Drivers for Option GTM382E is here
    http://www.option.com/en/support/software-download/modules/gtm382e/

Both drivers works in Win7 32&64bit, but they are completely diffrent things:
first one is with GUI like Acer's, but a bit more functional. The second one is "Mobile Broadband" driver with NO GUI. It only suitable for Win7 and standard Win7 Wireless networks applet used to manage your 3G connection.

In order to download the first one you will need to provide IMEI code of your modem.

As for flashers, I found Acer's GTM382 updater to 2.8.1 is somewhere on Acer's FTP.
And two diffrent flashers to version 2.9.5Hd can be found on Fujitsu-Siemens support site by searching for "GTM382". First flasher didnt work for me saying that it is meant for other type of modem, and the second one did the trick ;) and now I'm on FSC-provided Option firmware.

    Dear jaybee83 and others!
I've cross-posted my Launcher problem to this thread:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=399929&page=16
and have found that there are at least several people have the same problem as me, and not only with Option's modems, but also with Sierra's.
So, its important to determine how it comes that you do not have the described problem and we all did.

    - Have you bought 3810 with preinstalled modem, or installed it yourself?
    - Could you please post output of modem diagnostics in Acer's 3G manager on your laptop? it contains version of your firmware as well as other info that could be important

Well, the first of two flashers to 2.9.5 is here:
    http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/Downl...wareGUID=D2E5919B-6E83-4AB0-9345-59E71FF70FF3

It seems to me that they've taken the second one off the site.

If this one will not work for you, i'll upload the second one to some web hosting like rapidshare or so...

Could you please reply to my additional questions above about your config? namely:
    - Have you bought 3810 with preinstalled modem, or installed it yourself?
    - Could you please post output of modem diagnostics in Acer's 3G manager on your laptop? it contains version of your firmware as well as other info that could be important

I just would like to have {Win7 x64 + GTM + Keyboard launcher} all working together just as you have it...

    Dear guys and gals...
I came further and tried the same thing (clean OS install + only Launcher) on TWO more OSes: 64-bit VistaSP2 and 32-bit Win7. And in both cases its STILL not working in the same way! I've tried it with all possible versions of Launcher available from Acer... The only thing remains is to check 32-bit Vista - it WORKS when I'm recovering original Acer OS, but I wont be surprised if it will not work from clean install either...
And please do not blame my OSes - I've got an MSDN subscription so all OSes are original, directly from Microsoft.

Dear jaybee83, please answer my questions on the previous page! And now I feel like I need to know every click and keypress you are doing while installing your OS... We definitely miss something, it just couldn't be that launcher is not working in THREE diffrent OSes I've tried...

Its differs from country to country... and these timelines are even actually produced by two diffrent companies - Inventek and Wistron... So, IMO the task to summarize all the mess probably could be done only by Acer

The su4100 and su7300 are pretty equal in performance despite some minor differences in chip features like cache size and VT. Everything you asked will work without a hitch on the su4100.

    Hello Timeline-Users,

I am also a little bit struggling with setting up the 3G on Win7 64Bit. So far I am able to see all the devices in the device manager (e.g. Modem, etc). I also managed it to activate the GPS function on the GTM382.

BUT: I cannot access the 3G system via the Acer 3G Manager nor the Option Globetrotter Connect tool - it says "no device found - please make sure to have it turned on" or so. I am sure, that I have turned it on via Launch Manager. I tried all the tips posted here so far, but with no luck. The other thing I did was to insert a normal Sim Card (no mobile internet card) and I was able to send SMS via the MWConn tool. So that all tells me, that the 3G Modem is able to work, but why the hell is this not recognised by the official 3G software from Acer or Option ??? Does anybody can help out here. I did also try the GTM382 firmware update, but also the updater tool did not find the device, although I was able to contact the modem via the device manager, means the initial strings can be displayed (Vendor, firmware, etc.)

Who has experienced something similar to mine ? thx

so anyways, im having the same problem now with my GTM382 3G modem. strangely, while i was using the older drivers (5.1.2.0.0, i think?) it worked like a charm! but ever since i updated to 5.1.30/5.1.32 i have the same "device not found" problem described here. ill check and see if downgrading the drivers again would solve that problem. be back in a bit!

okay guys, PROBLEM SOLVED! (at least for me, hehe)

i downgraded the driver software to 5.0.26 (posted here as 5.0.20): http://www.acer.de/acer/service.do?...ctx1g.c2att92=80&ctx1.att21k=1&CRC=1106555572

beware: use the driver from JUNE 2009, NOT the one from october! apparently, there is something freaky going down with the current drivers. i was already wondering, why in the beginning everyone was happy with their GTM modules and NOW all of a sudden everyone started to have problems, JUST as the new driver versions were coming out :p

so enjoy, i really hope this works for u as well.

    cheers!

edit: with this solution, it doesnt seem to be possible to update the firmware (device still not found!) but at least the modem is usable again

About the modem issue and drivers
1st) It cant be that easy, I've made experiments on 4 diffrent OSes even without any modem drivers: only os + Launcher! And in all the OSes I wasnt even able to turn off/on the WiFi.
2nd) Lik provided by jaybee83 leads to the whole Acer's german download site :( Could you please provide direct link to the download of the file?
3d) (just in case) IF solution provided by jaybee83 will not work for some of you, THEN you could just:
    - uninstall launcher
    - reboot
    - press wireless button twice
and it will definitely work in any windows OS with any drivers - recent or elder...

About update of the firmware of GTM382
Guys, as I already wrote, the flasher I've provide the link to havent work for me either. In my case it FOUND the modem device BUT inform me it meant for other modem. I succeed using another flasher, which is now not available from FSC. If you have thу same situation I can upload that flasher which worked for me or email it to you...

BTW: There are 4 diffrent major models of GTM382. Mine is actually GTM382E model 401.

thats the thing tho, uve worked around with several different OS but the problem lies in the drivers (in my opinion). sorry about the link, try this one instead: http://global-download.acer.com/GDF...re&Step3=Aspire 4810TG&OS=V10&LC=de&SC=EMEA_8

and btw: of course it wont work without any modem drivers at all, no device works without drivers! :-D

and good idea with uploading the flasher from FSC, just upload it on rapidshare and post the download link, that would be much appreciated! :)
