Hmm doesn't seem to be working for me(I have the exact same laptop as you) and I've tried both the app you're linked to and Setfsb with RTM875T PLL. I'm figuring this could either be a Vista or BIOS issue.
Anyways, thanks for your help!
PS: Forgot to ask: how did you OC the GFX?
-
@Boissez
Really, doesnt work for you? How strange. Have you checked to make sure the FSB is not OCed, like with CPU-Z for example? Thing is, that after double-clicking on the .exe nothing "seems" to happen, since its a silent overclock. You have to wait several moments, then the FSB jumps to 250 Mhz and the CPU to 1753 Mhz.
Concerning the gfx, ive already posted something on that a while back:
Hope that helps!

Well, I just finished reading 64 pages on this thing... Wow. There's a lot of info here.
Just picked up the as3810t-6376 shipped today from newegg. Don't even have an eta yet, but I can't wait to see it. Think I've made the right decision, going from a monster Dell 17" 9300 to the 13". Hated the Dell for being to bulky, loud, and hot. Oh... And it just burned up.
I had been looking at the asus ul30vt, but build quality reports made me veer away. I just wanted to thank everyone for the info provided here, you can probably expect a few questions from me in the near future. -
Modded BIOS 1.27 for Aspire TM 3810.
Version with Intel/Ati/Switchable options in Switchable Graphics menu:

Don't forget to change User Access Level to see all options -
. Speedstep still works fine too and battery life doesn't seem to have taken a hit (or maybe ½ an hour or so)
Big up from here for this nifty little tool. SetFSB OTOH was no use.
About the HD4330 I'm already reaching 92C when running orthos+furmark - I probably shouldn't push it further. -
Just to explain how awesome this modded BIOS is, it enables a new INTEL-ONLY graphics setting in the BIOS which fixes the bug where both graphics chips are active after a Standby in the Timeline 3810TG models. This gives TG owners the promised battery life of 8+ hours. One caveat - it disables the HDMI port. For HDMI you have to use Switchable or ATI-ONLY modes.
If you dont want to mess with the advanced settings, the first download is the one you want. -
one question to modded bios v1.27:
originally i have the (acer) bios 1.17 installed and my fan is just running once in a while when my notebook is on batteries.
i tried the original acer bios 1.27 and my fan was running almost the whole time even if it was on batteries.
i would like to know, if this behaviour can still be seen in the modded 1.27 version?
i tried the former modded bios and there the fan behaviour was the same as the original ones.
and another thing: did anybody find a solution yet, for the problem that the fan behaviour on batteries is different than when you have plugged the notebook in, namely that once you are in charging mode, the fan is starting and running the whole time, no matter how much the cpu is used or how many programms are running? -
Any chance to get the same mode for 4810TG

Thanks! -
@bjornb
sure thing, here you go: OC_RTM875T(2)
cheers -

It is not 100% stable on my 3810T. Mostly it runs fine, but sometimes it spontaneously reboots when doing heavy load testing for a long time.
Do you know how to set the bus speed slightly lower? -

cheers -
So, it should be this post for the modded v1.35 - 4810T:

Hi guys, I recently had a problem with my installation of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my Acer 3810T. I gave it back to Acer and they restored it back to its original Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I plan to install W7 again, but I'm worried that the problem might occur again.
What happened was that one day, I booted up and got the message that 'an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data'. It mentioned that the file that was problematic was \boot\BCD and status was 0xc000000e. It also said a recent hardware or software change may have caused the failure. (But I had not installed any software or changed the hardware probably for a month before then)
At first, strangely, if I kept trying to re-boot, it would work and load up Windows 7 fine maybe one in every three times I tried, but later, it would not boot up at all, and would always show the error message.
The error message told me to insert the installation disc and do a startup repair, but strangely, when I did that, the startup repair could not detect the Windows 7 installation! (and therefore this method failed)
I thought there was a problem with the hard disk, seeing as there was an intermittent problem at first, and I thought that if the boot files were damaged or corrupted, it should occur all the term. So, not knowing what I could do, I decided to drop it off with Acer.
I got the computer back from Acer, and it's been restored to its factory defaults, with Windows Vista. It works fine. They say the problem was a software/drivers issue, and the hard disk was fine, but I'm really confused as to what would have possibly occurred and why I couldn't repair my installation.
Do you guys know what may have been the cause, and what precautions or steps I can take to make sure something like this won't happen in the future? -
Late to the party, but this caught my attention. Anyone else think this is a pretty solid deal? FRYS.com | Acer
$499 for the AS4810TZ. Not a big fan of the "Olympic" Edition, but it wouldn't prevent me from picking it up. I'm looking for something portable with a decent screen and long battery life for under $600. Not a gamer. But I do like to watch videos. I do know that the 4500MHD is pretty decent for videos. (I had an Aspire 1410 at one point.) It can even handle flash pretty well with the 10.1 flash update.
Any reason why I shouldn't go check it out? -
Ok I tried the moded BIOS for 4810TG and swiched back to regular 1.35.
Ther are two options: "Intel graphics" and "Switchable", but not the third one "ATI only", like in 3810 in previous post( http://forum.notebookreview.com/ace...ied-bios-fix-both-graphics-cards-powered.html)
I often play some moderate games like X-Plane and FSX and cannot see benefits for this mode, and thing that annoys me is that battery blue light stays on after being charged full when the laptop is off.
Tried and not impresed. -
-
Works pretty fine and lightweight to carry around, long life battery for sure. The edition you're looking for might have the bluetooth in option, included.
It is not only Intel GMA 4500MHD, but Ati Mobility Radeon HD4330 on switchable graphics. the 4500MHD work only when powered on battery.
Unless like post above a "modded bios". -
hey all just got myself a new acer 3810tg-944g50n
su9400 with ati 4330
been look alot on this forum lately to check out for tweeks and stuff
i have already gotten the oc (oc_rtm875t) however i have a problem with it since cpuz says if i turn my settings to high performence it clocks it self to 2ghz which i think is abit to high anyone know how to keep it at 1600 to 1750 or so.
did a quick test when i clocked it keept it in balenced since it only goes to 1750 there but there a huge gain in preformence by using it.
windows index jumpped from 4.5 to 5.1 on the cpu and from 4.9 to 5.9 on the ram rest stayed the same i think. so would like to get the fsb abit higher then the 800mhz
also anyone know a very good light waight program to measure the temp of the cpu and maybe even the gpu
kind regards Kasper -
Hi Kasper - speedfan is the best temperature monitor I know of (and it works in Windows 7) SpeedFan for Windows 7 - Freeware monitors hardware - Windows 7 Download
I have some issues with my 4810TZG
* Occasionally it will display a black screen on restart - everything comes on and there is HDD activity just the screen is black. usually restarting by pressing the power button for 5 secs works fine although sometimes it takes more than one attempt.
* Still got the annoying loud beep when the power cord is removed or inserted - I'm living with it for now but how come it's non-turnoffable (or at least quietenable)?
* Just recently installed Sims 3 for my daughter - occasionally (not every time) the DVD fails to read and just sits there clicking in the drive. The eject button doesn't eject it for maybe 2-3 minutes or more. It happens with either of the instal discs they're all clean and new and were carefully clicked into the platter. When they work it's fine but I don't think I'm aligning them badly it just seems arbitrary. The fact that they take an age to eject when they fail to read is irksome.
Any advice is welcome -
Hmmm #3 - may have been a one-off with those discs, others seem to work fine (except I'm wondering why they took such a long time to eject).
There does seem to be an issue with restart after sleep though - this time the 'battery-leaf' crossed out symbol came on and stayed on. ???
The latest BIOS is installed as well as all drivers being up to date. -
Humm i think it is quite a bug in Windows this Black Screen...heard manies having this issue of other forums.Wait a little for this to be fixed.
*2)
Can't you cancel that Beep in the Device Manager? show unhidde devices then non_plug& play device, and there a "Beep Pilote" desactivate it..... -
-
@voxish, you can find a microsoft fix for the black screen/freeze at boot:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/983551/ -
pls help - i dont know if this forum or this thread is dead....
but if i get a 4810TGZ with Ati 4330 can i download the acer timeline 4820TG drivers for intel 4500MHD and Ati catalyst to get the latest versions that support flash accel etc? -
@advan20092
If you are still paying attention to this thread advan please tell me if you can which option under boot priority to select in order to boot from usb flash drive for WIN 7 install.
This is in reference to 3810t BIOS. -
Guys I need some advice please.
I am trying to decide between these two:
1. Acer Timeline AS3810T-8501, Intel Core 2 Solo Processor SU3500 (1.4GHz), 2GB DDR3 Memory, 250GB HDD, Intel GMA 4500MHD - $429
Acer Timeline AS3810T-8501
2. Acer Timeline AS3810T-8737, Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 (1.3GHz), 4GB Memory, 500GB HDD - $561
Acer Timeline AS3810T-8737
I don't play games. I do a bit of browsing and a lot of movie watching (divx, avi, mpeg, wmv). I couldn't care less if it'll do HD on youtube or not. As long as I can see regular videos on youtube, I'm fine. Basically what I want to know is, would the SU3500 be enough for my needs or should I spend the little extra on the su7300?
Thanks for reading. -
-
I have an extra 2 gig stick of ram so I'd be able to put that in... If I could then get the ram to 4 gigs, would you still say SU7300? -

Hi,
i have read about modded bios at the 3810tg
my notebook is the 4810tg with the postville ssd and the 4810tg bios only supports ide mode and ahci, but also in ahci the ssd operate in sata1 mode (only 120mb/s) is there a bios mod for the 4810tg available ? -
I have the same issue as pelmenipeter.
I just flashed the modded 135_v3 bios from the russian site.
For me, the standby-bug (ati enabled - higher discharge rate) is resolved by this. Now there is also the option "Intel only".
Can you explain, how to change the User Access Level? I dont have it -
Do you have the 3810tg moddel?
Can you please post the links for the modded 135_v3?
Does it work in the 3810tg?
Thanks m8 -
is there a modded bios for the 4810tg available to solve the standby bug?
thanks in advance! -
look at my sigI have a 4810TG with integrated Intel Postville SSD.
Yeah, they have modded the SetupModul from InsydeFlash (from last official BIOS v1.35)
But you need site translator (russian)

Part 30.8 for 4810
You have to change some settings in parameter.ini

For 3810 there is a even more setable BIOS available.

There seems to be the only bug while using "Intel only", the NB doesn't reboot. The Display keeps black.
I'm just using "Switchable Graphic" now.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
The point is that the switchable graphic card bug isn't fixed.
When you resume from suspend in switchable mode do you get the full battery life?Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
I've also using the newest ati catalyst 10.6. No problems while switching.
After resume from suspend (standby) the power consumption goes back to ~7000 mW. -
cheers -
any solution for this, guys. -
Hi guys, I have an Acer 3810T, and I am thinking of downgrading the BIOS from v1.20 to v1.17 due to the fan. My BIOS was updated from the original v1.04 when I sent in the unit for Acer's recall service.
I have never flashed BIOS before, and since I have researched and found out that it can damage your computer, I want to ask some questions before I attempt it. Sorry for this long post, and I hope you guys can help me.
-----------------------------
Q1: How can I flash the BIOS?
I know I can download the compressed file from Acer's site. When I uncompress it and look inside the folder, there is a folder for 'DOS' and 'WINDOWS'. For flashing using the .exe in Windows, it won't allow it, due to it knowing that my BIOS version is newer than the one I want to go to.
I heard that you can modify the 'platform.ini' file or something in order to bypass this check, what do you need to do?
Regardless, I also heard that it is safer to do flashing of the BIOS outside of Windows with a USB stick. I would prefer to do this, but I absolutely do not know how.
Do I need to format my stick to fat32 or NTFS? And do I just place the files inside the 'DOS' folder into the root directory of the stick, or do I copy over the whole 'DOS' folder into the root directory? Do I need to rename or modify any of the files?
And once I've prepared the USB boot stick, what is the actual process involved? When I boot up, would I press F12 at the startup screen and choose to boot up from the USB stick, or would I press something else?
If anyone could give me full instructions, I would appreciate it.
-----------------------------
Q2: How do I prepare for something going wrong?
I know that there is the risk that flashing your BIOS can cause problems. Browsing the forums, I also read there is a way to make another USB that you can flash with when something goes wrong.
Something about 'JM31X64.FD'.
Can someone be able to tell me what this is, and how I would be able to prepare it and run it when needed? -
I have a problem with my 3810TZ. Every time i switch on the ATI GPU. The laptop screen goes black (still glows). If i add an external monitor i can see everything fine on that one and even play games. Just the laptop screen wont work unless i switch back to Intel GPU

What does the "Z" designation stand for in a Timeline model. For instance what is the difference between a 4820TG and a 4820TZG? Inquiring minds want to know.
