I never done CPU microcode update. CPU microcode module on newer Phoenix BIOS has been move to another module (I don't know which). In older Phoenix BIOS, CPU microcode is located in UPDATE0.ROM module. Can you post the exact message displayed on the screen when your computer ask to press F1 to continue? I can try to locate the exact string in BIOS image.

    Hi all.
I've installed the bios mod for my Acer 5513WLMi to obtain the VT-x (unsuccessfully the ahci mode as kizwan told me is not supported by my bios motherboard).
I've another problem now: I've installed 4GB of RAM.
At the boot during the bios post the system reveal only 3GB.
Inside bios, instead, I can see the all 4GB of RAM are recognized.
Also Windows 7 Ultimate x64 recognizes the 4GB of RAM but with only 3GB usable.
Is this another limitation of the bios/motherboard for this notebook?

It could be a board issue, for certain older chipset the OEM did not connect all the address buses hence the hardware becomes limited in bits not a software issue.

Dear guys... i fried my BIOS after a bad flash caused by Packard Bell poor website information (and my hurry too, i've to admit). So... anybody knows which is the key combination for bios recovery on a Packard Bell Argo C2? It seems to be compatible with MZ35, but i tried the flash of MZ35 and it's broken. Well... to tell the truth... i flashed the BIOS via a bootable CD downloaded from Packard Bell's website. It flashed everything OK, so it restarted. I saw the POST and i said "Hey man, it works!" so i entered BIOS by pressing F2, and saw that effectively it has upgraded: previous BIOS version was 0.15, after it showed 0.22. So i loaded default settings, and PAM! It restarted. After that, no post message, blank screen, and fan turning at maximum speed.
I don't have any USB drive nor a USB pendrive, so i can't make any test. But... hey, CD spins... anyway, somebody know how to help? I can't sleep since this happened (3 days ago).

Cheers from Italy and a lotsa spaghetti everyone :D

P.s.: i wrote here because Packard Bell is now 75% of Acer. Should i have posted the 25% in the Packard Bell section? lol

Please go to first post. I already collect a couple of procedure on how to use CRISIS disk to recover corrupted BIOS. Good luck. :)
I already explained in this this thread how to flash BIOS in DOS. It should be easy. Please visit first post to learn on how to create DOS bootable USB flash drive. You will need to use phlash16.exe to flash BIOS. These are the link of the modified BIOS images for Acer Aspire 8920g (the last one is the latest):-
    21 June 2010: Modified BIOS ver1.15
    UPDATE (3 August 2010): Modified BIOS ver1.15 R2
    UPDATE (13 August 2010): Modified BIOS ver1.16
I do not recommend people to flash BIOS with BIOS image for other notebook brand. Only advanced user who know about their notebook, including the motherboard model can do this because they know what they are doing. Please give your notebook model, as well as link to your BIOS image (download link). It will be much easier for me to check it for you.

Sorry, I must be missed your post. There are two types of notebook with ICH7-M chipset; 1) Without AHCI, 2) With AHCI. This depend on manufacturer implementation. Please give me the link to the BIOS image & I'll look into it.

    Hi Kizwan after brake ;)

I decide give that laptop to my wife and buy something what I be able to use that Q9200.

Can you help me to be make bios for:
    Asus G60VX-RBBX05 Mobile Intel® PM45 Express Chipset +ICH9M -please?
I know from this forum like Dub77 was "ordered Q9000 and put it into G60vx . The BIOS recognized it but windows wouldn't boot. First tried to boot windows 7 64bit normally and system froze at the starting windows screen."

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...7786-howards-asus-g60vx-rbbx05-review-45.html

Finaly hi replaced cpu and use T9900 but I belive to with your help this time I be able to use my Q9200

Sorry, I can't make BIOS, I can only mod it. I don't think Asus G60VX can run Q9200 since dub77 already tried it with Q9000 & it can't make it to work. Modified BIOS to support unsupported processor is not easy. I haven't found the solution yet.

EDIT: It is strange that Asus G60VX BIOS detected the Q9000 but can't boot into windows. Maybe the ACPI (DSDT) table is buggy (on processor power management - P-States & C-States). We can try fix it but no promise since I only know a little on how to fix it in DSDT (also I'm not sure fixing the C-States & P-States can make it to work). There are a lot of resources I can use/refer to patch the C-States & P-States. I'm actually don't have the experience on this kind of mod since I never have this kind of problem. Lack of hardware also the reason. So, remember this attempt can brick your notebook.

Please flash BIOS with the original BIOS image. I'm going to disable the download link for now. EDIT: may I know which BIOS image did you use? The OLD BIOS image or the FIXED one?

@Guys, sorry for the delay. I'm going to work with the requests this weeks.

To everyone who use modified BIOS image for Acer Aspire 5100 (Aspire 5100 BIOS_v3.13 SLIC2.1 MOD FIXED.rar), please report back here. Does the modified BIOS image is OK or not? I ask this because I see approximately 20 people have downloaded this BIOS image.

    Thank you. :)

I am new in this sorry.
I have same problem: chaged cpu from i3 to i5 in my aspire 5740G and now I get that unconfortable message every power on.
Did you find a solution? at least a MOD that skip the message and go on normally, just as you press f1?

You can get help at 5740G thread (the one where they discuss about the switchable graphic card). It should be already enabled by default (VT).
I don't have the solution yet.

Based on the Modded Bios from here, but with Slic 2.1 inserted, and packaget in a Recovery USB Builder.

    File Name : ACER 5230 Slic2.1_VT_Bios CRISIS DISK - Phlash16_v1.7.0.18_DiffSize.rar

Use WINCRIS.exe in the extracted Folder to Build a bootable USB Drive, the bios is build in and is copied in the same Prozess.

Then close The laptop, than plugin the USB Stick, touch first the FN and Escape Cap´s and then the Power Botton.

Wait a while the boot, and Flash Prozess from USB Stick, nothing happens on the Screen but the USB - Led, it takes One to Five Minutes, and than the Laptop reboots.

    Hi Guys,

Is it possible to get the BIOS to enable wake on Bluetooth? im using an 8920G.

Latest BIOS I could find on Acer site: http://global-download.acer.com/GDF...=Aspire 8920G&OS=V10&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=EMEA_27

The same bluetooth keyboard will wake my HP work laptop but will not wake my Acer, im guessing its in the BIOS somewhere?

P.S. Ive flashed your latest custom BIOS first to see if that would work, sadly not or at least i couldnt see any options that might help. Maybe im on the wrong track totally?

    Cheers,
    Fionn

I want to add a CPU to the list of supported CPU's in my BIOS (this is my guess as to why the quad core I tried to put in didn't boot, because the chipset supports it). It's a Fujitsu laptop (amilo pi 3560) and I post here because there's no BIOS mods section in the fujitsu forum. I've managed to open the BIOS with phoenix bios editor but it throws up errors about unsupported modules (because version 2.2.1.3 phoenix editor is too old I believe). It must be in the BIOS somewhere I guess but I think I need a later version of the bios editor that will open my bios, then figure out where the supported cpus are listed and hex-edit/re-flash. Can any one help?

kizwan! I want to ask you a question again :) Yesterdey I bought the new CPU to my laptop - Core2Duo T9300, which is Penryn@45nm. My laptop is FSC Esprimo V5545, you already made the great update to it's BIOS, all works fine. But with new CPU the system won't start - when I plug power cord into laptop it starts, power LED lights, and after few seconds laptop is automatically powers off. Maybe BIOS can't recognize this CPU? I plug T7300, which is native CPU back, and all works. Can you advise smth?

I'll modified your BIOS as soon as possible. For the mean time, please make sure your notebook can recover corrupted BIOS with CRISIS disk.

The bluetooth functionality usually depend on the bluetooth device/receiver capability. Bluetooth devices/receivers have many specification. Bluetooth device/receiver in the Aspire 8920G maybe don't have the same capability like HP's have.

I already unlocked Aspire 8920G BIOS. If it is not in there, it means the functionality you looking for is not supported.
