oh i get it, i been upgrading my older hardware, i recently added a 5oo gb HDD 7200 rpm, and have a T5600 on its way, should be here tomorrow to install.
would this make any difference as to enabling the Virtualization and Speedstepping enabling? thanks for the warning on 3rd party driver and bios update drama me and my pc can live without. i had that wary feeling.

Speedstep should work out-of-the-box. For virtualization to work, you'll need unlocked BIOS. You can find the modified BIOS for Aspire 3680 at BIOS-MODS.

The flash bios utility doesn't change any BIOS settings, except all BIOS settings will reset back to default. This is true when flashing BIOS on Aspire 3680 using the included BIOS flash utility in the package.

Kizwan, I tried to run WINCRIS.EXE in my friend's XP laptop. But it is giving error "Warning, there are no removable devices connected in the system". I just copied the CRISIS DISK all files from your dump(changing the WPH file) to the local directory and tried to run WINCRIS.EXE.

Pls see the attached Image file(this image was taken in Vista. But I used this in XP through VMWARE). These are the options I used at the time of creating the CRISIS disk. After creating the disk with these options, I connected it to laptop.

Did you put the Studio 1555 BIOS (renamed to BIOS.WPH) in the CRISIS folder (where WINCRIS.EXE is located) before creating the CRISIS disk?

    1. First I created WINCRIS disk.( I copied all your dump(with replacing the
WPH file) to desktop of VMWARE XP, then running WINCRIS program from
that folder. With the options same as in the above attached thread. My
USB flash is of 1GB size.
    2. Disconnected my bricked laptop battery and power card.( Battery I kept it
aside, I have not connected it at all in this process).
    3. Connected WINCRIS disk(flash drive)
    4. By holding END key, I connected the power card to the laptop.
    5. released the END key, the charging light just blinked after releasing the
END key. After this, I waited for 10 mins, but the laptop is not getting
powered on automatically. I tried this for 2 times, still it is the same. So by
holding the END key, I pressed on the power button. After releasing the
power button, The laptop is powered on and fan sound is coming from
    inside.
    6. I left laptop for 40 mins like that, But there is nothing I can see on
monitor. Only the fan sound from the processor. So I unplugged the power
    and reported it to you

It should automatically power ON after releasing the END key. If not, the Boot Block recovery is not triggered. Maybe you're releasing the END key too soon. Try after plugged in the AC adapter, hold the END key for a couple of seconds more & then release it.

no Kizwan, it has not worked. Do I have select "IBM CRTM Crisis disk" option while running WINCRISIS.exe. Please see the attached image in the above thread. I have not selected that while running WINCRISIS.exe.
    ----------------------------------

I observed that the version of phlash is Phlash16_v1.7.0.18. Do I have to use any new version? One more thing is that my laptop bios was A07 before I tried to upgrade it. Do I have to use same A07 now? Thanks for all your help

It works for everyone else. One of the example here. I don't have any idea anymore. You don't need to set anything in WINCRIS.EXE window. Just need to select the USB flash drive & create the CRISIS disk. My best guest is the CRISIS disk is not created properly. Do you use Windows XP 32-bit? Make sure it is 32-bit. The WINCRIS.EXE should copy these files into the CRISIS disk automatically:-
    1. BIOS.WPH
    2. MINIDOS.SYS
    3. PHLASH16.EXE

There are some Phoenix BIOSes which refuse to handle any crisis disk that is not a floppy (or perhaps not formatted as FAT12). Yours may be one of them.

Some brand of USB flash drive / pen drive are not compatible / working with WINCRIS.EXE. I don't know why but it happen & I don't have the list which brand work, which brand not. For example, on some notebook Kingston pen drive work & SanDisk not, while others vice versa. Try use Kingston 2GB/4GB pen drive.

Just followed the instructions, very easy, at first i could not understand it could not find the Flashablerom file, but i forgot to click on browse and the only file showing i chose from the option it gave, which was the same file folder it came in.
Well, then i clicked the flash and back up selection and flashed the bios and voila.
so far so great. worked fine, thank you.

I enabled the virtualization, which was just as simple.

    Note;
Be careful with "Frequency Ratio". It can caused notebook unbootable, even with unlocked CPU (unlocked multiplier). If your notebook unbootable after changing this option, you'll need to reset CMOS (by disconnecting the CMOS/RTC battery - you'll need to disassemble your notebook to access it). My advice, DO NOT change the "Frequency Ratio" value.

Ok, now i read this part, i need to overclock some, what do you suggest, do you have another link on doing this ? I dont want to just overclock to the highest to lose the ability to boot the bios, although, i would like to step it up gradually to where it needs to be performance and temp wise.

any tutorial would be good to read. Many thanks again Kizwan, this is great stuff . very user friendly instructions. :)

I now have a T5600 installed CPU, and thanks to you i enabled the Virtualization with your bios mod instructions and download.

what about the installed use of Intel T5600 SL9U3 with my 3680, what parameters do you recommend? I no longer have the M processor 440 in regards to those two images. 14x multi?

Kizwan.. I don't know how. But now I am able to boot my laptop. I connected the same flash drive. I didn't hear any fan sound. I left it for 30 mins. Still, no sound. So I simply powered it on. Surprise.. The laptop booted.

Thank you so much for all your qucik help.

Now the only problem I have is -- Previously I had a problem with windows(before bios upgrade). I used to go to Boot options and select the option "Disable Driver signature Enforcement". Now I am not able to see the options in Boot Options. When I press F12, It is asking me the device to select to Boot (Hard disk / CD / Removable Devices). I thought of downloading Windows XP and install it. Do you have any suggestions on this. Again thank you so much for all your help.

F12 will never give you the Windows boot options menu - that key is F8.

@Adventures, I use SetFSB to overclock. In this post, you'll see the clock generator use in Aspire 3680. Just need to move the upper slider & press " Set FSB" button.

@siva_thota, I'm glad to hear your notebook is OK now. I use not digitally signed drivers too on my Dell. I only need to boot with "Disable driver signature Enforcement" one time. That is when I want to install the driver. After that, I don't need to do it anymore on every restart/boot. You can try " Ready Driver Plus" from ATI DNA driver website.

If you want to lock CPU at certain speed, you can try ThrotteStop. Too bad your SU7300 doesn't support dual-IDA. BTW, please look here if you want to improved your M11x R1 performance:-
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...rther-overclock-m11x-r1-slg-hardmod-only.html

Are you interested getting eGPU working on your notebook just like I did with my Dell Studio notebook? Your notebook can do x1.Opt (with Optimus) since your notebook have Intel GMA 4500MHD which also means you can use internal screen.

    Hi guys,
I´m asking you for advice about my problem with recognition of Graphic card by my laptop. My old 9500M GS burned out and I replaced it by 9300M from MSI ntb. Now it work ok in Windows, but my notebook can´t recognize this card in POST menu and I get visible screen only in Windows (drivers recognize it) So I cant change and see anything between start and Win login. Do you thing, that will help BIOS modification of notebook or graphic card?
    Thanks a lot

I would like to request a BIOS mod for the 8935G with the latest 3211 BIOS. I tried the 3207 mod you posted a long time ago from this post http://forum.notebookreview.com/6603188-post467.html and it seemed to be missing the option to choose whether I wanted to run the discrete graphics, the integrated graphics or to enable them both for the power saving switch that this model came with to switch between integrated and discrete from within Windows. For the best Win 7 compatiability, setting it to discrete graphics in the BIOS works out the best and with the 3207 BIOS that option seemed to be missing.

    Here's a link to the 3211 BIOS. https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=78c5dda8b911136f&sc=documents&id=78C5DDA8B911136F!1622#

The Aspire 8935G BIOS 3207 does have "Switchable Graphics" option but does not included in BIOS setup menu & I didn't noticed 'em back then. I'll unlocked hidden options in BIOS 3211. It will be available soon.

You can use AIDA64 (ACPI Tool) to obtain any ACPI tables. Use iasl -d to decompile the binary file to readable content.
