    I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter now if I do get ahold of v1.08. My laptop now repeatedly restarts itself whenever I turn it on. Pressing any of the F keys don't do anything since it doesn't stay on long enough.

    Did you try clear CMOS? Try disconnect HDD & ODD drive. Then try start your notebook. You might want test your RAM modules one by one.

    Well, you won't loose anything by trying, so do it and report back.
    :)
    I was also thinking on giving a Q9000 a shot... but not right now (When I'll have a bit more money on the side for experimental purposes).... I already decided to get the X9100.

    Perhaps the CPU in question would be more forgiving than Q9100... and since it also operates on lower clocks... it might contribute to the compatibility... or not.

    Hi everyone, the forum invited me to join and ask my question and so I did :)

    I guess my question is mainly to kizwan, does the Aspire revo RL100 nettop slot into this catagory ? If so can it's bios be unlocked ? In particular I would like AHCI enabled for better performance from the SSD I intend to fit.

    Bios is here

    regards

    None of this worked, sadly. Probably the BIOS chip itself, in which I could not locate when taking apart the laptop.

    kizwan... could you unlook the advanced section at the bios 1.07? so could check my idea soon as possible and report back if it works

    i read some times before that overclocking a quad core could cause a lost of cores. so if i clock down my cores i have the chance to use all the four cores i think. all depends on energy consumption it this depends on used power... reducing power output also reduce power input... i think it could work

    I already unlocked everything. I agree with Deks. The possible right route for you to get all four cores working is by doing pin mod. You can see an example of pin mod here & here.

    Kizwan I was wondering if you can unlock AES-NI on the N5110 or do some other BIOS mods:
    Drivers en downloads | Dell [België]

    Here are the possible modules where AES-NI could be:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/8230053-post148.html

    Whatever you can do on the BIOS is more than welcome!

    Also I dont know if it is possible to change vesa mode to 1366x768. I tried it but it didn't work I think.

    I will compare the modules afterwards so I know what I have to do in the future if A10 comes out.

    Thanks in advance!

    Warning this post is purely a Google translation of my German-PM to "master phil".
    In other posts I check the translation for errors. I have not done here. Therefore, this contribution can sense contain misrepresentations.
    I've published it anyway.
    Maybe it helps someone or provides new ideas in a row.
    The "PM question" of "master Phil" is not published, it is clear from my response.

    Hi Phil,

    ..... help with a small problem!? :D

    So any "CPU pin mod" is not easy and involves substantial risk. Remember this always!

    For your chipset (PM45) is likely a "Penryn Quad" not be a problem.
    The problem is certainly the C2D CPU-socket connection to the main board, or the wrong ACPI / APIC CPU levels in your DSDT table.

    So read at your best first CPU DSDT from control values! Here, all four CPU cores appear. It should look something like this:
    Code:
     Scope (\ _PR)

    {
            Processor (CPU0, 0x00, 0x00000410, 0x06) {}
            Processor (CPU1, 0x01, 0x00000410, 0x06) {}
            Processor (CPU2, 0x02, 0x00000410, 0x06) {}
            Processor (CPU3, 0x03, 0x00000410, 0x06) {}
        }
    Will here only two cores activated, then your problem is initially in the software sector.
    Engage with this topic (DSDT)!
    Knoppix works well with only 2 cores?

    "Kizwan" in this post already gave you the right link to this post of mine.

    Opened in the spoiler of the article you see, among other things that my base is. Even this is a big risk.
    If one does something wrong, then you had a notebook. This is the warning again!

    Ok, what I would do in your case:

    1. under the bandage contact pin of the CPU "AA7" to the base! (Signal labeled "BR1#")
    When using a C2Q this pin must have no contact.

    How do you interrupt the contact is exactly your problem. On my pictures you see how I did it. (Base open, isolated contact with paper)
    Another method would be applied to insulating these exact CPU pin. In this case you would need the socket is not open. I have not tried this method, however.
    Complicated, costly and risky means any method.
    Whether this is worth it is very questionable.

    If I had 20 pieces QX9300, I'd desolder these CPU pin simply break or cut. :D

    If the "CPU Pin AA7" no contact with the base and than your DSDT values, then now might work all four cores.

    This is not the case then ....

    2. In binding also "AA7" nor the contact pin of the CPU's "AC8" "AA8" and "D8"!

    3. The last attempt would be the elimination of extra contact "F8" (GTLREF_CONTROL).
    (In addition to any other at point 1 and 2 above)

    Should still work just two cores, then I can not help further at the time.
    At the moment I'm busy with other issues and have no time for further experiments with C2Q.

    All information is accurate at the studies of my image self-explanatory.

    The implementation of my information is at your own risk. I would hereby again expressly refers to the high risk of permanent hardware damage.

    Hi kizwan,

    I've got an aspire 5630, I put a T7300 into it (after a few pinmods, including BSEL mod to 166mhz).

    The notebook turns on but doesn't pass POST.

    I'm wondering if a bios mod could help.

    You have already modded the bios for a Acer Aspire 5652 here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ace...nix-bios-bios-mod-request-22.html#post6374753

    It's the same bios that I am currently using.

    Is it possible for you to mod it again to support my T7300?

    Or would a bios mod not help at all for my experiment?

    I will take a look for AES-NI. I also need to know your CPU CPUID. You can obtain CPUID using AIDA64.

    If you're referring to while booting, video always work in VESA mode. I don't think you can change this.
    Hi,

    Sure. I'll take a look later.
    Hi,

    Sorry, bios mod will not help in your case. When you said doesn't pass POST, does it means you can see BIOS splash screen at least?

    Kizwan,

    I gave up on this at the time, but again would really like to get my virtualization turned on in my BIOS. Have you made a version of your mod BIOS for the 7552G that shows the virtualization settings by any chance?

    VMWare definitely thinks hardware virtualization is turned off in my bios, this is the VMWare error:

    "Hardware virtualization is disabled in the host's BIOS/firmware. Using software virtualization with a software MMU."

    Thank you for your help.

    Virtualization already enabled by default in original Aspire 7552G BIOS v1.12.
    OK. I'll take a look later.
    Different BIOS version & different model name. I don't think you can use the AR71M modified BIOS.

    I have an Acer Aspire 5738G (64 bit) with Intel duo core 2 ghz processor and Nvidia G105M card. When I check on the Intel and Microsoft website, it says Virtualization is not supported. How come I see on this website people can succesfully mod the bios? I thought the laptop should be supported at first, and then you have to actually enable the function by modding with your modded bios?

    would it be possible to request a modified Acer 5930G bios 1.23 that gives one the option to disable or enable EIST for TrottleStop?
    I think this feature is referred to as the Intel Speed Step.

    My bios doesn't show it, along with any of the advanced power options, so I was wondering if it would be possible for you to unlock the bios.
    Need to use this link:

    Firstly, the CPU must support VT. Secondly, the modded BIOS reveals the hidden VT menu to allow owner to enabled/disabled VT technology. Thirdly, codes in BIOS will check the processor for VT technology, if VT is not supported, the VT menu will not visible even after placing the menu in BIOS setup menu.
    Hi Chris,

    Dell Inspiron 9300 have Dell BIOS. It completely different than normal Phoenix BIOS. Sorry, Dell BIOS is not supported.
    Aspire 7750G have Insyde BIOS. Sorry, Insyde BIOS is not supported.
    Please go to post #780. The modded BIOS allow you to disabled Intel SpeedStep hence allowing you to control Intel SpeedStep in windows using ThrottleStop.

    I appreciate and understand your stating that this is the default in the BIOS. And AMD-V does appear to be enabled, but NPT/RVI seems to not be enabled, or I would not get the errors I am getting. Maybe the default is to enable CPU but not MMU virtualization? Or perhaps the default is to enable both, but my BIOS is not reverting to the default, and reflashing the BIOS is not changing it either.

    With that understanding, is it possible to reveal the virtualization switches in your mod BIOS? If this is something you can't do or prefer not to, could you perhaps point me to another resource somewhere? Perhaps a utility separate from VMWare to verify if SLAT/NPT/RVI is enabled? Or someone else who has done work with the 7552G Phoenix BIOS?

    Thank you for your time.

    NPT/RVI only responsible in reducing hypervisor’s overhead. Basically, you only need AMD-V for Virtualization to work.

    What error are you getting? If you're referring to this doc, it is not for AMD-V or AMD hardware. For AMD, you might want to refer this doc instead. You also might need to contact AMD and/or VMware why virtualization doesn't work even when it is already enabled.

    Regarding the Virtualization menu, I already unlocked it ( MOD R2) but I didn't upload it before. I only uploaded it today & you can find it at post #1628.

    djjonastybe,

    I checked & found that BIOS A09 doesn't lock or disabled AES-NI. Microcode Update for CPUID 0206A7h also already up-to-date in A09. The microcode itself already known to support AES-NI. Are you sure the CPU on your notebook support AES-NI? May I know the CPU model/name?

    hi kizwan,

    i've been reading the thread and looking if you have already made a mod bios for acer 4750g.. are you still not supporting UEFI? If you already have please send me a link. i need to enable VT. Or do you know other resources that could help enable it.

    Thank you in advance

    Sure, I'll take a look later.

    Sorry, I don't know whether your notebook can recover BIOS using CRISIS disk or not. The only way to know is to try on the notebook.

    It's better we don't meet at all. ;)
    If you look at the screenshot over here, Virtualization menu already unlocked. If you do not see it in your BIOS setup menu, this means your notebook processor doesn't support Virtualization (VT-x). You can check the processor specification at ARK | Your source for information on Intel® products
    Sure, I'll take a look later. Thank you for the rep. :)
    Phoenix UEFI still not supported yet. I did make some progress though. I'll update here if I have any news on it.

    @ALL,

    Thank you for your patience & support. I tried to modded the BIOS faster but I caught up with a lot of work. For example, right now I'm busy making preparation & planning for jobs on this March alone. Don't worry, I'm sure I'll modded the BIOS for you when I have enough free time.

    Regarding UEFI, I'm only interested with Phoenix UEFI (SecureCore Tiano). There are a lot of people already provide Insyde BIOS mod service, e.g. @BIOS-MODS.com. My friends over there will be willing to help anyone who want Insyde BIOS mod. Back to Phoenix UEFI, I have make some progress on it. It takes long time due to limited time I have to study it. I only have a notebook with AMI Aptio (UEFI) for any serious research on UEFI (look like Phoenix SecureCore Tiano & AMI Aptio not so different). I will only provide mod if I already tested it myself.

    Again, for all pending BIOS mods, I will modded it. Just need to wait a little bit.
