you can also try to make a bootable cd with your nvflash files and your backup rom. i make one with nero 7 burning room. but ithink you have to remove the hard disk drive out of the laptop. (not sure about that, has thomthing to do with the booting secvense).
put the cd in your dvd drive.
    reboot again.
    wait about 2 mins
    type D: (enter)
    nvflash -4 -5 -6 blabla.rom (enter)
    y (NO ENTER)
    you will hear a "BEEEB"
a few seconds later you will hear a "BEEB" again and the flashing is done.
simultaneously push Strg+ALT+DEL and be happy.....or not.

If the usb wasn't listed in the boot sequence it isn't gonna boot from is. Then you'll have to burn a boot cd and remove the hard drive in order to force the laptop to boot from cg. Ones thats done you can reflash you vga card. I've had quite a fiddle one time with recovering a bad flash, at some point you'll get handy at it.

As for the adapted system bios, I've got it stil on my laptop, so if you're in need send me a PM.

Today I got my 9920 back up with a 5920 8600MGT 256MB. I flashed it with the v-bios of the original 8600MGT and however it has less memory it does work properly. It seems the amount of memory is not embedded in the v-bios but it is read like the way a system bios reads the amount of memory places on a motherboard.
Bit a performace killer but stil usefull for some people just wanting to get their 9920 back up and running.

If anybody can help me i would GREATLY appreciate it..
ive been having troubles with my acer aspire 5520g for about 6months..
the original gpu burnt out so i replaced it with a 9300m gs card which fitted straight in and mostly works.. BUT..
when i start my laptop i get the 30 SECONDS MXM REFLASH message..which is a nuisence but not the biggest issue...
my biggest issue is not being able to use the DVI OUT or the VGA OUT.. which i usually have going to myTV for films etc....
i am just about able to flash a bios rom thing but cannot seem to find the right one..
PLEEEEAAASSSEEEE can anybody offer a WORKING BIOS for my laptop to bring the VGA and/or DVI back to life.....
    Big thanks in advance :)

My friend had a problem with his 8600gt also after reflow (works 6 month and need reflow) on this Acer 9920g. So he bought a 9300m from but now he has no screen. So i need to flash computer and graphic card. On this forum i ve read the excellent work of Net Roller 3D. I really thanks him for this work.
If someone can upload this file : 9920g_9300mgs.rom. Because i ve test a lot of links but they don't works anymore.
    Thanks !!!!!!!!

Hello everyone. I have a problem. i bought a 9600M GT 512Mb DDR3 G96-630-A1 GPU (ACER) to my Touchsmart iQ820sc (HP) to replace my old 9600M GS, and i need to flash the vbios from the acer card to HP. How do i do this ? i know how to flash a gpu bios using gpu-z / nibitor / nvflash, but i think that i need to flash the vbios at boot, so that i can get the card to work at all ? Can i somehow make a bootable usb drive with the vbios ? Where can i get the HP 9600M GT bios file ? HEELP

    The 9600M GS i working,so i haven't changed anything yet.

This is the card i bought "http://www.ebay.com/itm/261166475542?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649"

The added G96 M vBIOS is for my HP 9600M GS, and the idle clocks have been changed to the extra level. 2D clocks are original.

    Hello Everyone,
I have purchased a 9600M GS 512MB DDR2 for Acer 6930 to replace my 9500M GS 512MB DDR2 in Acer 8920g. Does anyone know if I will need to change the BIOS in my computer and how I can find the correct BIOS. I have Pheonix version 1.14 installed at present downloaded from the Acer site for the 8920g.
    Thanks

    Update
I have updated to 1.16 and tried the file "aspie-8920-V116-SLIC-MXM.ROM" listed on earlier posts, but neither are working with the 9600M GS. My original card does not work with NVidia card active, but does as standard VGA.

I am a beginner and would appreciate guidance steps.

    Thanks

    Just solved similar issue.
Flashed 9600m GT in Amilo A3667g, after reboot laptop showed white screen and windows wouldn't boot in any modes(safe/vga/etc). Tried blind flash - formatted laptop hdd installed DOS there, booted and tried several nvflash versions, however all of them wrote - 'no nvidia gpu found', I assume laptop won't even power on gpu if vbios is corrupt.
So I desoldered EEPROM from mxm card(25L512MC), found old AGP FX 5200, desoldered EEPROM(SST 25V512 20-4C-SA) from it also, soldered 8 wires to fx 5200 and soldered some sort of improvised SOIC connector to other end of wires. Booted PC with FX 5200 with it's original EEPROM attached, started DOS, checked that nvflash found video card, removed original FX 5200 EEPROM, put 9600m GT EEPROM, nvflash identified it but flashing ended up with "MISMATCH in 256 byte page-mode programming" error. I assumed that EEPROM is defective and flashed FX 5200 EEPROM with 9600m GT BIOS, soldered it to 9600m GT.. and it works ;)

    Hi Folks,

A Friend of mine has the MXM Structure error with his Acer Aspire 9920g and the Nvidia GT 9600M. Now he gave me his laptop to repair this error.
All what i have learned through this thread is that i have to flash the BIOS with a modded version of the rom.
But the rom does not exists on ifile.it.
Can someone upload this rom for me, please?

    Regards DarkRamoon

cdoublejj thank you very much for the link, I use it and works well.

.NetRolller 3D thank you very much for your work.

Now I have installed 5920G_MXM_V3.WPH but I have a little doubt, I have seen this other BIOS Aspire 5920G BIOS 3813 MOD R3 here http://forum.notebookreview.com/ace...nix-bios-bios-mod-request-60.html#post6655207

.NetRolller 3D in this thread said that only a mod menu, but teorically that BIOS has added the following changes:

    - Add "SATA RAID" and "ASPM Support" options

    - updated PXE Broadcom NetXtreme Ethernet Boot Agent (v9.4.5 --> v10.0.9) (taken from Bob12x's BIOS ver 3833 for Acer Aspire 5920G)

    - Based on Aspire 5920G BIOS_3813 EIST MOD_FIXED (EIST unlocked - for implementing dual-IDA using ThrottleStop)

    - with SLIC 2.1.

Does 5920G_MXM_V3 BIOS include also these changes?

Thank you very much and sorry my bad english

Flash the modded bios mentioned in the first post of this topic, I did this before and I can confirm it works with the 9920.
You need to search the net to find the bios it is up for download but you'll have to spend some time searching. If you're unable to find it send me an email, I've got it somewhere on my hard drive.

Does anyone have the extensa 5620g mod stored somewhere? I really need it to for my card to work. Sat down the whole day yesterday trying to figure out how to mod the BIOS myself but I don't think that I am skilled enough. If anyone could help me with that I would be very grateful as well.

    Hi,
Attached is v116 modded bios that I am using now on my 6920g.
Obviously use it at you own risk ;)
I have not tried it with a 9600GT though (yet) but I can say it works with standard 9500GS and 9600GS which I had before.
It has the extra menus and virtualization switched on.
Let us know how you get on with you 9600M GT as I maybe want to try one soon :D

Hi Is It Possible Anyone Has The Modified 8920g Bios?- I Have An 3700FX Working On An External Display! THANKS!
Note I am also having issues installing the NVidia driver- don't know if this is an issue or not, I have been into device manager in windows 8, under 'display adapters' the driver installed is 'Microsoft basic display adapter'. I tried manually going into update ( wddm 1.2 from nvidia)to the NVidia fx3700, but the response from windows is 'the driver selected does not suppot this version of windows'

    Hello, everybody.

Got a question for you: is it possibile to get an Nvidia 9300m GS work fine on a G35T-TG mobo?
It only sends video to the external dvi, not to the aio display.
I read over and there, seems it needs a sbios mod, doesnt it?

    I have a 7520 and have a 9600M GS coming. I don't know if I'll run into these problems,
but will these modded BIOS work on this unit ? The MB is AMD if that makes any difference.

I have an ATI 3650M in it right now, but couldn't pass up the deal on this 9600M GS card.

    Any help is always appreciated

    n2gc

    Update.

Got the 9600M GS installed but when it POSTS it looks like something
out of an old Peter Max picture ! I looked in device mgr and it's not
recognized. Replaced with the old 8400m card and it was recognized.
I downloaded the newest drivers for the 9600 from Nvidia, but still
nothing. I'm thinking I have a dead 9600 card. But how do I check
    this to make certain ?

    Thanks for any help.

No, it wont help. The 9920G controls the fan by CPU temp. But you can overcome the problem by modifying the heatsinks or tweaking the bios.

The Hardware-Solution is to connect the copper-pipes from both heatsink using a copper-plate by soldering or glueing (2k liquid-metal) them together.
The Software-Solution is tricky and dangerous, because the needed tool (AcerFanControl) will start after the login process.
If you will go with the Software-Solution, ask me for the INI-File.

Merging heatpipes did not help me.
Probably because heat sensor is embedded in CPU or located near CPU, and since the coolest part of heat pipe is near the fan - on the other end from CPU, heat from GPU will go there.
But my laptop controls fan by sensor near CPU and it can be relocated(sensor).
Or much better way - power fan directly from USB rail f.e. and attach your own sensor.

Just bought an Nvidia Quadro FX770 for my Acer 7720G, lets hope it fits and works without issues.

It was taken from another Acer so I shouldn't have any problems.

Yup, I'm also looking for the bios, I've got a 5920g, moving from a semi faulty 8600 to a 9600m gt. Again, if anyone has the bios files, please upload them again. lots of people need them. Thanks

Can someone whose actually managed to make these upgrades please update this Thread with pertinent downloads. Most of them are broken.

Also, Geko, I tried that download of yours, but ran into a new problem. It seems that acer won't update the 5920g bios when its running Windows 7 64bit, which means ill have to either switch OS or try something else.

My goal again, is to put a 9600m gt ddr3 512 into my 5920g. Which, as I understand, requires First a system bios flashing (which I cant currently do with win 7 64) And then when that is complete, a Vbios flash as well. So can someone get links to both these updates? It would also be nice if we could get a concise post that goes through the steps again for the newer people who've joined recently. pouring through all the different pages over and over again trying to find the right paragraph gets old quick.
Anyone who has the working files, Either the Sbios, or the Vbios, please consider links to them or uploading them yourselves. It seems like our Hero Netroller hasn't been on in a long time, so I don't think hes going to be putting them up any time soon. Thanks

Guys!!! It's done, here are the GPU before and after...

    BEFORE:
    GPU-Z 9300M G.gif

    AFTER:
    GPU-Z FX770.gif

Diablo 3 now runs with high resolution textures pretty damn smooth!! Temp tops out at about 81C while playing Diablo 3.

I used Arctic Silver 5 compound on the GPU so the temps should go down 3-5C over the next few days. Lowest so far has been 61C in Windows..

Successfully upgraded my 5920g from a 8600m gs to a 9600m gt using the BIOS provided on the first post (5920G_MXM_V3.WPH). Temps are lower, probably because I applied IC Diamond paste which is probably much better than that horrid rubber-like stuff they use.

The 9600m gt was £50 from ebay. The seller mentioned it was an Acer card. Here's a GPU-z screenshot

Thank you so very much NetRoller!

Now to upgrade RAM from 2GB to 4GB and the CPU from a t7300 to a t9300!

Nice one mate! What temps are you getting with the 1GB DDR2, idle and full load?

I too had a difficult time trying to flash the bios. When I get back on my laptop I'll upload the right flash tool. It took ages finding one that would work on 64bit

acer5920gmoddedbios.rar Try that one. Includes winplash and the BIOS. I'm not 100
% sure if it's the right one, so if it doesn't work let me know.

    8600m gs: 50+ idle/ 98 load

    9600m gt: 46 idle/ 90~ load

Are you going to flash your card to a 9600m gt?

Also, can we run some of the same benchmarks to compare 9600m gt 512g ddr3 vs 1024 ddr2?

I have installed a new 9600MGT to replace the dead 8600MGT(second one) and flashed SBIOS and VBIOS, but windows7 will just freeze and reboot if I follow blackened87's step-by-step to install video driver on page 73, I have tried latest driver and some other old drivers but still no luck, is there any one who have successed and could share your experience? I really want to make it work, thanks in advance.
