    I have a big problem.

    I tried flahsh with external floppy but somethins go wrong.

    Notebook totally died.

    When I push power button nothing happen.

    With hot air I removed bios chip from motherboard. I bought ch341a programmer.

    Now I have two problems:
    - software maybe not recognize chip; it's should be a Winbond 25x80
    - bios file is a .WPH ... software accept .bin or .hex

    Someone can help me ?

    pleaseee

    Can anyone tell me which bios chip is compatible with Acer Aspire 5920G ?

    I'm not able to read on my chip; on internet I found for Phoenix the chip is an Winbond 25X80VS1G.

    Can I use another chip ?

    Hi Everyone!

    Just upgraded my 5720z(zg) - ICL50's gpu ( Dead 8400m GS --> 9600m GT ) and I want to flash BIOS using the v1.45 Black Edition linked on the first page.
    So I managed to download and it may come as a silly question, but how do I flash it properly?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    offtopic
    Also bought 2x2gb (800mHz) ddr2 and planning to upgrade the processor too ( T2330 ---> T9300 )
    Any recommendation, suggestions or personal experience?

    ps: I'm kinda new here but I've found a lot of useful and intersting information which helped me alot and I'm very thankful for them.

    Hi everyone,

    I have a Acer Aspire 9920. I bought just a 9600M GT graphics card (VG.9PG0Y.005 Acer Aspire 6930G 6935 nVIDIA 9600M GT 512MB)
    I'm succesfull flashed the modded SBIOS and VBIOS and I have a perfect view on my laptop screen.

    But when I install the NVIDIA drivers I've got a BSOD error or the device can't start (error 43).
    I have Windows 7 64 bit and I tried NVIDIA driver version 275.33 and 309.08

    Is this an hardware issue or can it be an incompatible VBIOS?

    [IMG]

    Thanks!

    I did download from above link files:
    icl50_1.45_black_edition_40.fd
    icl50_1.45_mxm_edition_30.fd
    (for Acer Aspire 7720). I did recently update microcodes in original ACER 1.45 BIOS. I did check both files with "Intel Microcode List ver0.4" tool and did get following info about CPU microcodes:
    CPUID=6F4 Rev=26 2006/03/12 CRC=DA8E97D1 Off=C3FA0 Size=1000 Plat=0,2,4,5,6,7
    CPUID=6F5 Rev=38 2006/07/25 CRC=6333B559 Off=C4FA0 Size=1000 Plat=7
    CPUID=6F9 Rev=83 2006/09/28 CRC=85B7E1DF Off=C5FA0 Size=1000 Plat=7
    CPUID=6FA Rev=94 2007/09/24 CRC=613BCE61 Off=C6FA0 Size=1000 Plat=7

    CPUID=10674 Rev=405 2007/07/20 CRC=735D9FE0 Off=CCFA0 Size=1000 Plat=7

    Original 1.45 file:
    CPUID=6F4 Rev=26 2006/03/12 CRC=DA8E97D1 Off=C3FA0 Size=1000 Plat=0,2,4,5,6,7
    CPUID=6F5 Rev=38 2006/07/25 CRC=6333B559 Off=C4FA0 Size=1000 Plat=7

    CPUID=6FA Rev=92 2007/03/13 CRC=13ED7841 Off=C6FA0 Size=1000 Plat=7
    CPUID=6FD Rev=A3 2007/08/13 CRC=89C0D01F Off=C7FA0 Size=1000 Plat=7
    CPUID=10661 Rev=33 2007/03/16 CRC=9E99CC48 Off=C8FA0 Size=1000 Plat=7
    CPUID=10670 Rev=05 2007/02/09 CRC=7E1FBC19 Off=C9FA0 Size=1000 Plat=7
    CPUID=10671 Rev=106 2007/03/29 CRC=80731B2D Off=CAFA0 Size=1000 Plat=7
    CPUID=10674 Rev=405 2007/07/20 CRC=735D9FE0 Off=CBFA0 Size=1000 Plat=7
    CPUID=10676 Rev=60C 2008/01/19 CRC=FBAC0EED Off=CCFA0 Size=1000 Plat=7

    Now I am a bit confused with those different CPUIDs in original file vs those modified. What was the purpose to change the microcode CPUID=10676 to CPUID=6FB?
    10676 = Core 2 Duo T9300 I have installed in laptop and now I am afraid to use that modified BIOS.

    After extra checking I see 6FB = T7800, T7700, T7500, T7400, T7300, X7900
    So it looks like adding support for some CPUs at cost of other ones (T9300, T9500, X9000). Am I correct?
    Does someone remember why such a change?
    And what is the difference between black_edition vs mxm_edition anyway?

    Hello

    I have upgraded my acer 5720zg with t8300 cpu, new fan, ssd drive and 4 gb ram.

    Next on the list is gpu.
    I found a few comments from NetRoller3D here and there, (mostly on youtube) and ordered compatible cards. It was the only info I could dig up, and I now have two mxm II cards.

    A toshiba gt230m for a500.
    And an Asus gt240m for C90s / M90j

    The Asus gt240m arrives tomorrow, but I just noticed it does not have a bios chip on board, so I suppose it will not work either.
    As far as I know, it is not possible to integrate vbios into the sbios on 5720zg.

    I have ordered bios chips and resistors, I know how to solder the bios chip and resistor onto the gt230m but is there a tutorial or guide on how to solder to the gt240m?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

    Hello

    hope someone can help me:

    i`ve a Aspire 9920G with a 8600M GT (not working) and find this forum.

    I have the chance to get spare parts from an Aspire 6930G (9600M GT)
    Flashing would not be the problem, but is the the Nvidia driver on windows compatible? (without black/bluescreen)?

    (i am a little bit scared of having same problems of Yannickvl)

    Greetings from Berlin, Germany

    I had a faulty video card previously.

    Meanwhile I have now a working card (C version, not the A version with the same heat problems as the 8600 cards) and the Windows drivers works perfect!

    On the debian family of linux (ubuntu, Mint, ...) I can't find working drivers yet. If you find a solution, let me know :)

    Success!

    it's the number on the chip (G96-630-A1 or G96-630-C1). Please be aware is it very hard to find a C1 version with DDR3 memory.

    It's not the problem for finding the linux drivers. It is more the problem that the linux drivers ignore the output setting of the bios. So I have no screen on my internal laptop window. (problem is described in the previous posts, but never solved :) )

    Go here type in your PCI_ID and SUBSYS (can be found via Device Manager), check the OS, you are using and download the modified inf and a driver and then replace the original inf with the modified one.

    Hello .NET Roller3D. I kindly ask you if you can share a VBIOS of Nvidia 9600m GT 1GB for Acer 9920G because I can't find one. I have only found VBioses only for 9600m GT 512MB. Can you please provide me with all possible variants for Acer 9920G?

    Hi, I have an Aspire 6920g with the MXM modded bios from the first post, and a GTS250M mxm ii card. I realise it was a long shot trying this card in this laptop, and indeed I get no display on the internal panel nor an external display. Are there any modifications (bios, vbios, soldering related etc) I could try to get this card to work? Thanks.

    EDIT: I came across this thread here http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...5920g-soldering-project-for-beginners.693102/
    and it has come to my attention that my GTS250m appears to be romless, as it's missing the eeprom mentioned there! Would soldering a flashed chip in place get the card working? (I can solder, but I'm pretty lost electrically without guides) If so, would someone be able to point me to the type of eeprom I'll need, and maybe a compatible programmer? Thank you :)

    Hi everybody. Sorry for my bad English.

    I'd modified the sBios of my 6920G and worked fine with 9600M GT 512MB GDDR3. This card has gone, and now I have 2 FX 770 also with 512MB GDDR3.

    The problem is that one is recognized only on external vga screen, and the other don't boot up. The laptop work fine with a ATI HD2400XT GDDR2.

    How can I fix the problem?

    Thank You so much.

    Ok. I Confirm, Nvidia Gt330M 1gb Ddr 3 from Toshiba Romless working fine on 5920g with only modify SBios.

    Check my posts here for Vbios, (soon) Modify Netroller Sbios with Gt330M Sbios and modify (inf file modify) drivers from toshiba and Nvidia: (I Add in my 2 posts, Vbios, Modify Sbios and Modify Drivers for update process).

    Hi,
    I have a similar issue with a 4670 MXM card From an Acer with modified bios to Work on an iMac Computer from Apple.
    When I try to use the card that's work only on an external monitor and not in the internal one
    When I try to dissambled the bios with AtomDis I can't find the same informations as you:

    "Device type: TMDS (DVI or HDMI)
    DDC port: DDC-B (MXM pins 230 & 232)
    Connector: HDMI Type A socket
    Connector location: External
    Link type: Single-link DVI/HDMI connected to TMDS link A
    HDMI audio source: No audio
    Digital signal drive strength: Normal
    Digital reserved field 1 (2 bits, should always be 11): 01 (incorrect, violates the MXM spec!)
    Output select GPIO: None
    DDC select GPIO: None
    Device detection GPIO: #0, active low (logic low on GPIO pin 0 indicates a display plugged into the HDMI port)
    System hot plug notification: Disabled"

    I tried also to use IDA but same problem.

    I don't understand clearly how I can find "Device detection GPIO" and try to fix my problem.

    Thank you very much for help

    Hello, you have some information about Quadro FX 770M (hp video card) if it works on 5920G?
    I updated the BIOS with 5920G_MXM_V3.WPH, and now use the 9600M GT but is not satisfied:
    1. Image Quality
    - Image is a little blurry, if i try to use the latest nvidia drivers, the best results are on win7 with driver, from acer website
    2. The performance - weaker than 3650m hd

    Hi all, just like to confirm a successful installation of NVidia 9600m gt ddr3 in my Acer 9920. I used the files as supplied by a French site and 1st flashed the laptop sbios with the 1.20 mod version and then having installed the 9600m gt card. I then flashed the vbios on that too. I purchased a heat plate from an acer 5520 to fit to card and will show pictures in next post of my modified cooling, which works for me. Windows 7 and windows 10 both work perfectly with the drivers it installs. A happy 9920 owner. Just need to win lottery to get 8gb ram now lol oh an faster cpu. Currently have intel core 2 duo t8300. A Big Thank You to NetRolller 3D and others for their dedication on the subject

    Is there a way to use Acer 5920G without any MXM card?

    I tried a modded bios which had incorporated a toggle Internal Display AUTO / BOTH but didnt worked.
    So Im not sure if its only bios related ( i need a proper different modded bios?) or it is hardware related ( maybe shortcutting or soldering on motherboard?) or both.?

    I only find Posts related to upgrading the Card or similar, but none talking about using only the internal built in GPU.

    Any help I would appreciate.
    Thanks JL
    Sorry for Hijacking this thread ...

    Hi Col5339,

    Did you ever make it working in Linux? I'm also a happy 9920 owner but still on Windows, what I not want :)

    I hope there are still some people following this threat as my 9920 is playing tantrums with me.
    After the original 8600MGT card burning out, i purchased successively
    1. 9300M GS 512MB DDR2 [VG.9MG06.003]
    2. 9600M GT 512MB DDR3 [VG.9PG06.006]
    I did the required bios & vbios flashing, I have internal screen working properly, but then with either of these cards the laptop shuts down within 2 minutes. Regardless if I am in Windows or F2 Bios screen..the laptop just goes out after 2minutes. It's not a heating issue, cuz the temps are normal.
    Eventually I bought
    3. 8600M GT 256MB DDR2 [VG.8PG06.002]
    This time everything working properly, except for known looming heating issues.
    My question: What should I do to keep the 9300 and/or 9600 cards working without making my laptop shutdown after 30-120seconds? Is anyone familiar with this issue?

    The only time when my 9920 is powering off is when there is a heating issue.
    Maybe it's possible there is some little area on the chips that has't a good contact with the heat sinks? Then it's possible that the temps are normal on the temp sensor but not on another part of the chip.

    The 9920 have troubles with heat at all. I bypass the fan speed regulator with as result the fan is always at 100%. A little noisy but I have still a working 9920 :)

    Yannickvl: Thx for your reply! I thought bout that too. Thats why I put a fanboard underneath for testing purposes. Still powering off :( The fact the AA9920 is NEVER shutting down with a 8600MGT card makes me believe it can't be a heating problem, for the 8600MGT heats up much more/faster compared to the 9xxx series, and yet..both with the old and new 8600MGT card, I am never facing shutdowns.

    Hmmm then I'm affraid I don't know a solution. Was this happening also before you flash the vbios?

    Yannickvl: Thats a good question. I will have to flash back the videocard (derived from a AA7730G) to see if the problem persists. However then I will lose internal screen again. I need to take the whole thing apart again to test this. Give me some time please.
    I am thinking in the direction that somehow the modded vbios and the modded sbios are not working together properly, although both the 9300MGS and the 8600MGT are sharing the same modded vbios and only with the 9300MGS the system hangs.

    Finally, finally, finally after looking for years I've got the laptop display working in Linux on my Aspire 9920 with a bios modded geforce 9600m GT.
    The problem was the display was never detected. (maybe because it has no EDID information?)

    What I do:
    - I stored the "fake" EDID information in windows (hereby uploaded)
    - I added the following 2 lines into the section "device" of /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP-0"
    Option "CustomEDID" "DFP-0:/etc/X11/window.raw"

    And then I reloaded the X server and the laptop screen shows a perfect linux mint desktop.

    Szia

    Érdeklődnék, hogy lehet-e még segítséget kérni Tőled?
    Megtaláltam egy régi 9920G gépet, vettem bele egy 9600 mgt DDR3 Quadro kártyát, ami szépen működik, de csak külső monitorral.
    Meg lehetne csinálni az MXM átírást?

    köszönettel
    Victor

    Hello

    I wonder if you can still ask for help from you?
    I found an old 9920G, I bought a 9600 mg DDR3 Quadro card, which works fine but only with an external monitor.
    Can you do the MXM transcription?

    thanks

    Will the problem of the black screen in my laptop be the same as described in the first post, I have a 6930g laptop with GT9600m, I bought a GT330m Toshiba card, and of course I have a black screen. Iam trying to solve this problem.
