Alright, I figured I'd poke around a little more before I sent you anything to make sure I wasn't just being dumb. I don't know what the problem was with what I was doing before, but I was able to get something when I ran mxmparse on BIOSCOD03.ROM.
There were three output devices. Here is what it says for device #3, which seems like the important one (the others appear to be the internal and tv displays):
Output device #3:

Thanks for taking a look. It doesn't appear to be the same issue. I can post the info for the other two devices if you think that would be important.

Yes, please post the entire output of mxmparse (wrapped in [<!-- -->code<!-- -->][<!-- -->/code<!-- -->] tags). There may be more errors lurking in the MXM structure.
Also, post a VBIOS dump of the problematic card. (It's possible that the VBIOS is MXM v1, and chokes on v2 MXM structures.) -

I'm not sure I'll be able to get the vBIOS from the card, but I'll look around to see if it's anywhere online.
-
GPU-Z should probably do it.
Also, do you know the type of your display panel? -
-
In DOS? Does your external display output also not work?
By display panel type, I mean the actual make and model. (But if you have no external display either, then it is moot, anyway.) -
In case anyone is interested, the guy selling 6770M's at alibaba only has DDR3 versions available. Just tried to buy one and he asked me if it was acceptable.
-
Meaker is selling his at the marketplace. His is DDR5 like mine. Go buy it guys. It might be the last DDR5 you ever get ur hands on.

Found some info... the 5940g is definitely NOT mxm.
I see the 7535g which is MXM 3.0 still has not been added to the list...
I have a fx 1800m gddr5 for sale at about half the price, works on the same acer systems... Of course the performance isn't any better than the 250m ddr3.
Also, don't forget the quadro 2000m and gt 555m which could both hit the market soon in MXM 3.0 type A form. -
Well, the 5920G's newly-found 9600M GT support also still haven't been added to the list... (especially since I posted a method yesterday to make a 9600M GT work in an unmodified 5920G, by fixing a bug in the VBIOS.)
-

Yeah. I would like to take over this thread if I could. TehSuigi said he didn't have much time for it anymore, but I guess I can't just take it over like that.
It would make a LOT more sense to simply organize them by the motherboards. Then the 7720g, 5720g would be grouped, we would know they supported the same cards, and the 7320g and 5320g would be listed too.
But alas, MXM is not something easy to organize. I would like to post somewhere the fact that Clevo laptops like the w870cu will not accept as many cards as most laptops, but its not something anyone will care about or understand enough to think its important until they run into issues with AMD 7000m and Nvidia 600m series themselves down the line.
Ultimately, I've given up on true documentation of what we know about MXM in laptops. MXM-upgrade.com for example is totally useless these days. They simply aren't interested in spreading the knowledge or truth about MXM anymore, because they are a business, and they will only do it if it could be to their advantage.
Its a sad thing, really. -
Meaker I Told YOU!! Guys hold ur horses and BEHOLD.

Thats right in the picture it looks like a MXM 3.0 Type A card!!! -

Yes and I have a card with that heatsink that was never released.
-
I remember that heatsink!
edit: Also, the guy on alibaba said he got a new shipment of GDDR5 cards in. -
I should wait with GPU upgrade?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If anyone could make use of the heatsink let me know.
-
Meaker take a picture of it. I wanna see.

What I want to get my hands on is that motherboard. Who can tell what they use those for -
Lololol. I feel like a dumb blonde (Blonde is just a color u haters).
-
akbisw,
Here is the one meaker was talking about. -
is that 6770M?
-
GOOD NEWS MXM junkies. Windows 8 can now autodetect your mxm cards that you just bought from some chinese seller who happens to ship from Dubai.
Anyhow Windows 8 will automatically install driver for you so no more downloading software from AMD and going through the tedious process.
Edit: Forget above. Windows 8 only recognizes that my 6770m is an engineering sample. thats about it.
Edit 2: the engineering sample driver from AMD works better than 11.8 in Deux Ex atleast. No need for AMD bloat atm. The engineering sample driver handles everything fairly well
Edit 3:Overall win 8 is much snappier. I cant imagine Win 8 on Core i7 990x. REALLY AMAZING HARDWARE ACCELERATION for all these different chips. Take a lesson Google!! -
That is a HD5650. It came with the heatsink that meaker was talking about.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It does fit and look pretty col on the 6770m though.

Posts deleted. It's not a BST thread so don't go this way- you have BST forum and PMs to make any deals if you want to.

Hey downloads, would you consider editing the main post of this thread a little?
Tehsuigi hasn't really been up to it lately, he said hes busy.
Its a bit of a mess right now. -
As a last resort I can add new things if there are any but I won't change the way it's organized or mess around with it. It's TechSuigi's post so all I can do is temporarily add new notebooks or cards that are confirmed to work (provided I have a confirmation) and mark those entries in a way that will allow TechSuigi to easily find them and edit or remove them.
That said I'd rather not interfere with someone else's posts without permission unless absolutely necessary. -
Guys, anyone interested in salvaging the FX 3700M I have messed up (see the thread earlier?
Essentially, I flashed a bad BIOS into it. Send it over to the BIOS reflash service, but the guy there had some problem reflashing it (had to resolder the chip) and although he said he was ultimately successful, the card didn't work when I put it back in my 8930G (just a black screen and no POST). I do not have sufficient knowledge to determine whether the problem is with the electronics or something else, so will send it over to you for the cost of postage if you think you can fix it. Paid £140 for it...
PM or reply here, if you are interested. -
I'd like to give it a try, my m17x boots with bad bios cards so probably also with yours!

Hello, everyone! Thnx for realy useful site. I hope you will help me or tell me what's happening with my GPU. I have acer extensa 5630g with 9300m gs on-board. But today i changed it and 9600m gt was installed instead of one. Everything was ok, windows started and display was well. But when i installed nvidia drivers for my new 9600m strange blue dots, colored squares and yellow stripes appears on the screen. During gaming the graphics not working well too. When i deleted nvidia drivers all dots and stripes disappeared. In google i founded that this dots and stripes mean two things. One is overheating of GPU and the second is a bad memory of GPU. Overheating is not the reason, because the max temperature of GPU is not rising over 60 C when loaded. In idle it's lower. Bad memory? But why only when nvidia drivers installed?
And one note - appearing of dots and stripes doesnt depend on load of GPU. It depends on only nvidia drivers installed or not. I tried different versions of drivers. No use.
P.S. The manufacter of GPU is nVidia, subvender - Acer.
When windows loading image is good. All dots appear when desktop loaded.
Thanks for any help! -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Hey there, your GPU is dead.
When you don't have drivers the CPU renders the desktop, therefore the GPU is simply outputting the image to the monitor and that part of it is working.
Once you install the drivers your GPU is doing the rendering and because it is broken you see the artifacts. -
Thanks! Bad news. And simultaneously good news, because extensa 5630G supports 9600m GT
-
I just received my 6770M. I put it in my laptop, and it fired right up. However, after installing drivers and running Windows Experience Index I received a black screen. I restarted my laptop and it won't boot. I put my 4670 back in and all is well. Retried the 6770M and nothing. Any ideas?
-
Thanks!
-
Lets hope i can get it working somehow.
Bad eeprom connection? Wrong Bios? Or just a plain old brick? -
Hi all.
I own an acer 5920g with a broken 8600M GS graphic card.
When the card broke the first time I swapped it with another identical one, but now even this is broken...
So i wish to try another card, but I'm not really into this kind of thing.
Anyone could suggest an easy to install graphic card which is compatible with my laptop that doesn't need any work except for installing it in the right slot? Possibly cheap too
Of course I'm asking for a card that doesn't belong to the series that are affected by a well-known production flaw, like mine.
Thanks for the attention. -

Grimorg
You might want to look for an ATI 3650 or 4570. -
9600M GS works fine for me in Acer 5920G using the fix in http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/575866-possible-fix-acer-x920g-vs-geforce-9600m-gt-issue.html
-
hi guys i have a clevo W860SUN (Core 2 duo p7350 , 4gb 1066 mhz ram) model laptop and i want to change my graphic card its a geforce g105m how change it?
-
niffcreature ex computer dyke
And its extremely unlikely that the g105m is in MXM form, it may be technically impossible to put that type of GPU on MXM because I think it uses shared memory only. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If it's a clevo it should be easy to check, pop open the hood and see if there is a card.
If you can't see one under the panel then it's not. -
If anyone knows this problem and a possible fix, I will be happy to use the 9600M GS for video and gaming. Thanks!! -
Another 5720G success report: The Toshiba A500's GeForce GT 230M works perfectly after soldering an MX25L512 on the card (flashed with a GT 230M or 240M VBIOS), and replacing the 15kOhm resistor - SMD, of size 0402 imperial! - connecting the MX25L512's SCLK pin to GND with a 35kOhm one.
3DMark06 score is ~6500 (with GT 230M VBIOS - GT 240M will be slightly higher). -
I have a chance to buy Nvidia 9600M GT 1GB, my laptop is TravelMate 5530G with ATI 3470 Hybrid X2 inside. I saw that upgrade to Ati 3650 is possible with my notebook, so i am curious if it will work with Nvidia card.
Thanks for response. -
While i read this behemoth of a forum, I figured I would ask a question.
I have an acer aspire 8930G with a GeForce 9600M GT video card. I was wondering what other GPUs i could swap in that would be better and also what the swap to said GPU would entail. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Nothing worth your time really, unless maybe one of the GT240M cards were found to be working.
-
Has anyone tried a GT240M GPU swap in an 8930G? What about the FX3700m? I can find them both on ebay, and the GT240M already has Acer BIOS on it. I am sorry if my questions seem noobish, I am still trying to learn.
-
A FX 3700M has been tried and works.
-
Would i need to flash the GPU with acer vBIOS?
