spaanplaat, any luck with your 3870 yet? Would really like to be getting that card for my own 8930G if all works out as planed for you...
-
You do know there is one for sale here. -
spaanplaat, thanks for the pointer of the card for sale, have just mailed them for it(hope they still have it). Good luck tonight on the big test...
-
Good luck, spaanplaat! Would you fix it alone, or you'll count on someone else?
Good luck for you too, BigRuss. -
Sorry guys didn't had the time.... so frustrating sometimes....
-
Yeah, I know how it is. Don't rush it, you don't want to "mod" it again
-

While I was soldering one of the pins from the sot23 came lose and there is no way to fix that.
Seems I need to find myself a new sot23 but I now see there are over 800 different sot23's and I have no idea which one I need.
Any electric guru's in this forum? Is there any way to know which one is needed? There are no serial numbers or any indication which part number it could be. -
Sorry to hear that
Maybe they use one standard for all MXM boards, or if they used more than 1, at least it would narrow your choice (fingers crossed). Here are the MXM specs, good luck.

Hy
Acer Aspire 7520g-to go into the Nvidia 9600GT? Or just go out-HD3650? -
Um, I'm not sure what you're asking but the 9600M GT is better than the HD3650 assuming that they're both DDR3.
-
I would like to know that this 9600 GT a good laptop.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
9600gt is an ok card, its going to start showing its age in not too long.
-
GT 130M e' MXM-A!!!
-
The water is warming new gpu's coming
ATI Mobility Radeon HD5650 Both Acer Aspire 5942G and Aspire 8942G have it. Maybe GTS 350M will be available
http://twisted-reviews.com/acer-asp...st-notebooks-with-ati-mobility-radeon-hd5650/
Let's wait and see who first buys and finds out whether 5650 is mxm_II or not? -
Probably not - Acer's already moved to MXM-A with the 5739G and 8940G. One could safely assume the 5942G and 8942G will be MXM-A and MXM-B, respectively.
-
-
And I highly doubt Acer would go out of its way to move back to an older MXM standard. -
-
Hey guys--I have a question. Has anyone seen an MXM 2.1 format 9650M GT, even if it isn't Acer? Anybody knows if it's MXM-II? -
I think the Acer part is MXM-III?
check out the pics over at:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Acer-Aspire-8920G-notebook.9245.0.html
I have opened up my 8920G with a 9500GS and compared the cards.
Looks like i have an MXM 2.1 9500GS card (and heatsink mount) -
I did see an Asus one on eBay a few days back, but I let that one slip out. I think it was from Singapore or somewhere.
I am looking at a 9650M GT in a website in Singapore, associated with Zepto notebooks. Since my dad is there, I asked him to call up the seller any day this week, to inquire about what form factor the card is. Apart from the 9650M GT they are also selling a 9600M GT (prolly MXM-II) and a GT 130M (prolly MXM-A, but I'm having my dad ask anyway, just in case)
Anyone need the site address? -
-
THe current mounts on my 9500GS do not look compatible. -
mookil: Photos please?
I wasn't aware about the brackets and stuff.
UPDATE though: I posted up on the Zepto forums, and the great guys there informed me that the three cards on mucro.asia's site (Singapore Zepto retailer) namely the 9600M GT, 9650M GT, and GT 130M are all standard MXM-II formats. I just don't know yet what vbios they use and stuff, as well as whether or not the cards need brackets whatsoever. I'm currently waiting on some more answers, as well as a phone call from the retailer directly. But at least it could be added to the list of unverified MXM-II cards.
Here's the thread:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=441132
EDIT: How often does an MXM card need a custom bracket whatsoever? AFAIK, only the 9650M GT needs it. Is it possible that an MXM-II GT 130M would need it? -
I don't think it really needs a bracket. I had to scrape off the bracket on the 9600M GS I had to get it to fit in the EX625 and the HD4760 fit just fine without a bracket.

Hi,
I've got a laptop 5520g basicly it has video(card) 8400GS then I made an upgrade for 8600GS and it's broke (the screen turned in black&grey stripes). Then I bought a new video card 9600GT and during loading before BIOS there is notice.... I tried to flash video card and BIOS but hopeless, could anyone help me? -

here is my 8920G with MXM II (?) 9500GS
compare it with the 9650 at notebook check review. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
5520g is partially compatable with the 9600m GT. You will get the notice every time you boot and have to flash the bios to change the safety clocks to the clocks you want it to run at.
You will also loose your video out ports.
However after flashing you should get the performance out of it. I never did get to try the 4650 in it however. -
Can you just remove the bracket? I don't think I need the bracket if ever.
Oh, and the Zepto people have replied. Seems the cards have generic NVIDIA vBIOSes, so it might be well worth a try, or at least a mention here on the threads. -

Hi, any updates regarding the G105M Nvidia in Acer Aspire 4937G?
I've read through the posts regarding 4937G and it seems like it is not upgradable?

Or if you are referring to any incompatibility issues the only one I had was the bracket on the back off the card, but you all know this.
The card simply fits like a charm and no bios issues or anything. First time I tested the card was without a proper mount of heat sink and with allot of mx-2 between so it wouldn't fry instantly. Windows booted up even without proper drivers it's resolution was set to 1920*1080. But then I shut it down to prevent damage. Ironic isn't it... should have left it without bracket, at least it would still work.
BTW any luck with buying the 3870? -
Don't really know what you mean... The card is the same dimensions as the 9700m gt or the 9600m gt. It is just a MXM 2.1 type III card and they should all be the same dimensions.

In my 8930 I have a 9600GT and from all the photos I have looked at trying to compare them, the 3870 looks longer and wider than the 9600 and was thinking there may be a chance of the 3870 hiting or catching something inside my lappie? -
King of Interns Simply a laptop enthusiast
That 4570 looks quite nice probably on par with the DDR2 4650 with an OC
Hopefully it is a sign of things to come...4650's and 4670's!!!
