So I know its been awhile since ive been here but im back and just wanted to let everyone know I successfully made a overvolted bios for the 3830tg because no one made or had one and I decided to finally figure out how to make my own, I started with an already modded 1.10 and give credit to him (forgot the name of the guy who made it, sorry dood) and im at a stable core clock of 872 MHz, now im pretty sure I hold the world record lol voltage is at 1v and actually temps barely increased, like maybe a few C, everyone knows I have one of the coolest running 3830tg's but this overvolt didn't do much surprisingly but aloud me to hit another 30 MHz or so and now I have an overclock of 200 MHz on the 540m.

to mulzoffh: hi,user who mod bios for 3830/4830/5830 is "nedemai".
to All: Please I seeking this wallpaper: But in version with 3830T/TG (not with 4830 or 5830).
Do you have someone of you this wallpaper? (of course in highest resolution what is possible)
I am reinstall Windows 7 on Windows 8 and I forgot make a backup original wallpapers. I have a home version with only 4830 and 5830, but not for my notebook 3830

Thanks! And I reformatted too so I dont have them anymore either.
-
And I just tried 3dmark06, I broke the 11k mark!!! NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i5-2430M Processor,Acer JM30_HR score: 11008 3DMarks
Edit: Did another run with 11028!! -
to mulzoffh: hi, 11k in 3dmark06 is nice score
-
BUMP please help me about this

Can you remind me what your set-up is? Do you use a notebook cooler? What multiplier could you sustain?
It seems to me that this mod could be used to trade CPU performance for GPU performance, depending how much further it allows you to OC. (Mine maxed at 790mhz, whether at stock or at .85v) I also run at x22 multiplier with a x18 failsafe profile that triggers at 92C.
Do you have a link for your overvolted bios mod? -
Thanks! Really happy about it.
It seems like a driver issue, try different drivers with a clean install and come back to me.
My setup is written about halfway down the page http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/553306-acer-timelinex-3830-4830-5830-t-g-394.html cant miss it and add about 5C give or take to each temp with the overvolted bios
Yes and no, a lot of games will have problems if your cpu clock is too low to allow your GPU to run faster, and in turn the faster GPU needs a faster CPU, so if your cooling isnt efficient enough you wont be able to run a high enough CPU clock to allow your GPU to run at full go on some games. I dont have a link to it because I dont have anywhere to upload it to, only I have it.Attached Files:

I just realized I've probably spent at least 80 hours at least screwing around with this laptop in hardware/software trying to get it as functional as possible. If I think about it, that time was worth more than twice as much as the laptop cost me. l will remember that next time I look for a new computer.
-
Worth it though.

Hi.
Are there any instructions on adding a second drive anywhere? I would like to put in a SSD drive as my primary and move my stock drive to the internal location where the optical drive cavity would be.
If anyone can point me to a post or describe this would appreciate it
Thanks! -
Hello!
I would like to know which screen should i buy to replace my cracked one on the 4830tg. I found mine mount an BT140GW03. I would like to know if it is possible to replace it with a higher resolution screen (1600x900) or anyone else compatible (only matte ones, no glare). Thanks in advance! -
Hi, I was wondering the same thing, I would like to upgrade my screen to a 1600x900 but I'm not sure if my laptop supports that. If anyone knows for a fact if it's possible and what model/brand should work please post a link to it, thanks.
My Laptop specs are:
4830t (not tg)
14.0" (I've been doing a little research and looks like it's a 40 pin connector).
Intel HD 3000 Graphics
Intel i3 2.4GHz Processor (dual core)
8Gb RAM -- doesn't really matter...
Would any 14" 40pin screen would do it? ...Not sure about that....
Another thing is that I'll probably upgrade to a Samsung SSD hard drive, and this laptop seems to support SATA 3 according to what I've been reading online, please correct me if I'm wrong....
And last thing I'll like to mention is that I'm really happy with the speed of the i3 2.4GHz processor but if at some point I decide to upgrade it, what could be compatible i5?, i7?, Quad core? None?
Any suggestions are very WELCOME.
Thank You.
I don't think that's possible at all. If you want a decent space you'll have to get a 512Gb SSD and settle with that for now... -
Not true, do you have a 4/5830t/g?
-
Yes, I just found out... Mine is a 4830t why?
-
Sorry man... Yes, it looks like it's possible, check this out....
Installing a hard drive caddy in my Acer 4830TG - YouTube -
Hi all, today I read about new mobile Intel 4core cpu "Intel Core i7-3632QM (2,2@3,2GHz IvyBridge)".
Which has the same TDP as my cpu i5-2410 -> 35W
Do you think that will go this new cpu into notebook Acer Aspire 3830TG?
I'm thinking about buying it if it was going to give into my 3830TG.
Parameters are quite better than my current cpu i5-2410m and has offered the same TDP. Ebay prize is now 268$.

Nope- you won't be able to use it in SandyBridge laptop.
-
TO DOWNLOADS: Hi, thanks for reply.
but I watched as the cpu goes into the same socket so as come in same type package.
so the restriction is on side the bios?
and the impossibility/unknown cpu for bios in this laptop? if I understand correctly.
(example my ex ex ex laptop "msi gx600 extreme edition" I buy with merom cpu t7500 and I changed/traded it for a newer penryn without any problems, therefore I asked on this)
TO ALL: in that case, I would like here to turn on all owners Aspire3830TG.
what the latest and most powerful processor (in this case series sandybridge and not ivybridge when bios does not know this series) into this laptop buy / give?
of course +- best with a TDP of 35W preferably, also as has my current cpu i5-2410.
because what I watched so sandybridge quad core with a TDP of 45W, I would say is for this notebook suicide
but maybe miles (itself can not imagine it)
-
IvyBridge can in some cases work with older generation of chipsets but only under certain circumstances and only if BIOS update have been provided by the manufacturer (and it's not about adding CPU microcode).
So basically only some desktop boards accept newer generation of CPUs and only after updates.
It doesn't work with laptops- there were some articles on the net about this although the initial ones had been too optimistic. It was later when they corrected that. -
TO DOWNLOADS: Thank you for your answer. I was worried this it :/ pity:,( i7-3632QM looks perfectly.
(as I wrote, for example in my ex ex ex notebook msi gx600 extreme edition works good newer series penryn even though I bought it with older series merom).
and what is the most powerful cpu from series sandy bridge that went to give into this notebook? As I wrote tdp best with optimal +- 35w tdp.
or do you think it would be possible give into this laptop 4core sandybridge with tdp 45w? It does not seem very realistic and usable. -
The only i7 CPU that will work with your 3830tg is the i7 2670qm, read my prior posts -
What?.. The chipsets we run are HM65 which are more then capable then running all sandy-bridge CPU's up to the 2860 and possibly ivy 3615 if acer implemented it.
CPU-Upgrade: Intel HM65 Express chipset processor support
The 3/4/5830t/g's also support up to 2133 MHz RAM if you wanted to run it, it should automatically detect them and if not a modded bios can select the speed you want. -
Hi, thanks man, so These processors will work in notebook 3830TG with chipset HM65:
AV8063801149402 i7-3517UE L3 4 MB, Turbo 2.8 GHz
AV8063801116903 i7-3555LE L3 4 MB, Turbo 3.2 GHz
AW8063801118306 i7-3610QE L3 6 MB, Turbo 3.3 GHz
AV8063801149203 i7-3612QE L3 6 MB, Turbo 3.1 GHz
AV8063801117503 i7-3615QE L3 6 MB, Turbo 3.3 GHz
From these procesors are bets in my eyes one model with 35W TDP:
1) "i7-3612QE" (4cores, 2,1@2,8GHz, TDP 17W)
And this two models with 17W TDP and 25W TDP:
1) "i7-3555LE" (2cores, 2,5@3,1GHz, TDP 25W)
2) "i7-3517UE" (2cores, 1,7GHz@2,6GHz, TDP 35W)
What would be the best for the 3830TG laptop? taking into account the frequent throtling when workload both cpu and gpu?
"i7-3517UE" I think either low clocked Dual Core (than high clocked Dual Core) and TDP is reduced only to 17W which is great
"i7-3612QE" Or fast quad core with + - the same bars as my current i5-2410 but even if it is the same TDP 35W and is it quad core which is great too
is better " "i7-3517UE" (2core with tdp 17w) or "i7-3612QE" (4core with tdp 35w), what do you think? -
Well I doubt it would work but it would be nice if it did.
If any of you guys decide to give it a try be sure to leave some feedback.
As far as I know you need UEFI update and I'm guessing you're not getting it from Acer. -
I agree probably not possible with the Ivy and why even bother. Better to get a new system
that comes with the latest and greatest i7 cpu. As for me, it was a lesson of aggravation
tearing apart my 3830 and swapping from an i5 dual core to the i7 2370 quad core.
I was just unfortunate to be given an i7 cpu by a friend who dared me.
Performance is ridiculous but at a potential cost of overheating so have to not run apps
that are GPU and CPU intensive at the same time. Of course then the question of what's the point
of having a system that you have to treat with kid gloves comes to mind.
My realization is that sometimes the effort put into upgrading may not be worth the effort.
Don't get me wrong, I like the 3830 but in hindsight, I would have sold it and gotten
one of those ugly Alienware machines.with the latest and greatest ivy i7 quad cores and 2g dedicated video cards. -
Hello...
Guys I need a favor, maybe someone can help me with this...
I have a 4830t (not tg) and I boght a Intel Wireless/Bluetooth 4.0 minicard 6235 to replace the Intel 6205 wifi. The problem is that the Bios is blocking the Bluetooth, the wifi works fine, so I need a Bios mod with whitelist removed or I'm not sure if with one with all the setting unlocked I'll be able to unlock the bluetooth...
I don't really think your 4830tg mod it's going to work in my laptop (even if both Bios have exactly the same name in the download Zip file).
Can anyone do me that BIG favor and mod one for me.
I was reading a lot about it trying to do it myself but I just can't find the software and anyway it looks really complicated if you're not use to do this things.... and I don't give up easily.
If someone is whiling to help, here is the link to the Bios: http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_Acer_1.10_A_A.zip?acerid=634695456417889976&Step1=NOTEBOOK&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE%204830T&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_7
Thank You very much for any help... -
I think your best bet is to go with whatever the highest clocked dual core is, since you'll have hyperthreading, which helps a bit in extreme multi-core programs, because the low clocked quad and duals wont give you as much power considering you really dont need a quad for most things right now especially in our laptops, even sandy i3's are more then enough for the 540m and you want a higher clocked dual over a lower clocked quad, you really wont use it as much as you think and the lower clockrate might actually lessen your performance vs a high clocked dual. If you go with the higher clocked quads sure then go for it, but your gonna have cooling problems.
-
Do you want to give us the at least 700$ for a new laptop and more for a better one for the price?
Alienware's are a complete waste of money, and the 3830 isnt bad at all, especially if you do what I did, which all wasn't hard and made my laptop normal again. Sure, it should of been at the start, but its Acer and everyone knows they arent the top of the game but for the price you cant beat it. -
Ok... finally... I figured out that the Bios for 4830t and 4830tg are identical, I flashed the mod you guys posted here that has the unlocked menus and works perfect, but my problem looks like I have to remove the white list to be able to use the Bluetooth in the Intel 6235 mini card.... Someone told me I have to change the hardware ID code but no idea how to do that.... Any Ideas?
-
There is no white-list in any Acer notebook. Also when white-lists are employed (by Lenovo or HP) the device is white-listed- so the card as a whole works or doesn't work. So give up on BIOS white-listing since it's definitely not the issue and check the drivers and verify that BT gets enabled (Fn+F3).
-
hmmm... I think you are probably right... Let me explain you exactly what happens: First I put the card in the Laptop, turn it on, the wifi and bluetooth are recognized, I install all drivers, everything works great until I turn off the Laptop, when it restarts the bluetooth completely disappears, it doesn't even show up in the device manager. To be able to make it work again I have to kill the battery power before turning on the laptop and then it shows up again, .... (until I turn off or restart the laptop)
Any Idea what's going on?
Another curious thing: the Fn+F3 (when the bluetooth is working) it's ONLY turning on/off the wifi, what is weird is that with this new card (Intel 6235) shows a menu to turn off Wimax-Wifi (one button for both). This card doesn't have Wimax at all, and YES I installed the correct drivers.... The problem with the bluetooth is that disappears once you turn the laptop off, turning off the battery makes it show up again.... Crazy...
Hitting Fn+F3 several times doesn't do anything different.
I even try the plain Microsoft drivers with the same result.... -
Go on the M14xR2 subforum and see all the throttling issues people have with the Ivy Bridge i7s and GT650m 2Gb cards configuration.
-
Did anybody try to upgrade the operating system to Windows 8 Pro using the Acer Upgrade Assistant? At €29.99 I could buy the upgrade from Microsoft. Is there any known issue with Windows 8? Only the battery issue (I've seen there's a workaround)?
-
I just tried, the Acer Upgrade Assistant Tool downloads a V1.12 BIOS.
P.S.
It downloads a file called JM30-40-50_HR.zip. Inside the ZIP file there are 2 files:
- setall.bat
- P4LJ0112_Silent.exe
The BAT file just launches the EXE file with @echo off
The BIOS upgrade tool is "silent", it doesn't ask for confirmation, it directly upgrades the BIOS. -
Is this an UEFI compatible bios?
-
It looks like a legacy bios to me, I don't know if there's something special under the hood.
-
Do you know if this 1.12 bios fixes the battery detection issue yet?
-
I don't know, I'm going to try the Windows 8 upgrade in a couple of weeks time.
-
Thanks, can you post just the bios file for download somewhere? They haven't updated the site yet...
-
I'm not sure this is legal, however it's not less legal than posting a modded BIOS, so:
Download JM30-40-50_HR.zip from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way
I can remove the file if it's a problem.
Please note that this is a "silent" upgrader, it didn't ask for confirmation.
NOTE: I have a 4830TG laptop, I don't know if this also runs on other models (the ZIP file name would suggest so, "30-40-50" looks like 3830-4830-5830 to me). -
Thank you!
I'll post back quickly if it helps the battery detection issue...
<edit>Yup, battery detection problem fixed with 1.12 bios. Not a driver issue at all, bios caused it. -
Excellent
-
Finally battery detection problem is solved! Will update the BIOS now
Any other changes? -
Hi all,
Have you ever tried this new bios on the model 3830TG???
(I would like flash it but I fear that after flash it that did not end my laptop as paperweight)
I tried to find a link somewhere on the bios directly on 3830TG model but so far I have not found him. -
I flashed the BIOS on my 3830T, so no problem, go ahead
And the problem you posted some time ago (battery detection in Win8) is now fixed. Though I'd like to know if there are other changes. Too bad Acer won't post changelog -
hi everyone
i have a problem, not a major one but still it really pisses me off.
I just upgraded to w8 and with the acer upgrade assistant it gave me new Elantech touchpad driver ver. 11.6.11.002 with a bunch of new gestures.
Well, the fact is that i cant actually edit those gestures nor see them, beacuse each time i open elantech's panel it just remain blank, and if i press copyright i can actually edit only one finger and two fingers taps, but not multifinger or swipe from edges.
I read a lot of pages here, but i couldnt find the answer i'm looking for.
Hope to have a response!
additional infos:i tried nearly every version of those drivers but from 10.6.9.9 i have always the blank screen problem..for the previous version there are no "swipe from edges" gestures that are quite useful in W8.
Thanks in advance -
Acer updated the Drivers section, but they still have to add 1.12 to the BIOS section and the Applications section is empty when you select Windows 8.
-
Same problem here on a 3830TG with the Elantech gesture configuration options window...too bad these peripheral providers drivers are as terrible as they are.
Also, why the heck is Acer even releasing these drivers! -
Fortunately, my 4830TG notebook has a Synaptics touchpad...
