Hi! I will make a schematic diagram with that bluetooth mod. I don't want to open my laptop again because i have opened it more times :)) . I will paint that and i will post that pictures here tomorrow or tuesday. I think this is the only chance to add a bluetooth device in Acer aspire 5315. It is very simple to make this mod :)

It is my firt post on the forum. I'm french so apologize my english.

I've got a problem with my Acer 5315. I change my Vista Home Basic for Vista pro OEM.

I would like to change my Intel celeron 550 for an Intel T7300. When i replace the processor, my Vista pro refuses to start. The computer is blocked on the window's logo.

I've got the Bios ver 1.45.

Do you have a solution for me please ?

Hi! You should format your partition and make a fresh install of Windows Vista. T7300 it is compatible with Acer aspire 5315. It is a good processor. I have T7300 and i like it. I'm running Windows XP professional. Try to reinstall Vista and if the problem persist format the partition where you have Vista installed and do a fresh installation. Good Luck!

Sorry for waiting. I had a lot of work and finally today i have made this diagram. It's not so hard to understand it. You must know to solder 4 wires. In the Img.1 i have the right usb board. This board is placed near DVD-RW. To find this board you must disassemble your laptop. In the Img.2 i have the USB bluetooth module disassembled from its case. I chose this bluetooth module because is very good and there inside it is a Broadcom chipset. For me... Broadcom is the best in wireless networking. If you chose a cheap Usb BT module, be sure you will be not happy. If you want to increase signal of BT module, solder there on antenna wire a good copper wire and hide it there inside in laptop because it is much space near HDD and DVD-RW. So if you have problems when you do this work post here on forum and i will help you. Good Luck! Do not forget to be carefully when you solder that wires. Respect the order of pins because you risk to damage the BT module or your USB port or finally the laptop.!!!

Tnx mate, I have bought Bluetooth in micro size just for this. All I have to do now is stiff my balls and open the laptop. At first, it looked complicated, but now it will be a peace of cake.

When I go through it, there will be pictures for other users :D

Thank a bunch for this thread. Went from Celeron 560 to C2D T5750. Just plug-n-play with Windows 7. That's a big hunch of extra power for the ~25 euro.

Buying a new laptop is delayed, sorry mr. local computer salesman :) Special thanks for mentioning that the P-series won't work.

    Hi Everyone,

Successfully upgraded my 5315 to a core 2 T5750!! Works great Wooo hooo. But here's the odd thing: The laptop came with 2 x 512 of ddr2 667mhz memory which matches the FSB of the T5750. When I run the benchmark at PcPitStop my memory bandwidth is only half what it was when I tested with the original Celeron running at 1.7GHz. What am I missing? Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? Thanks in advance.

I think since its dual channel memory, it runs at 1/2 the rated mhz. So 1/2 of 667mhz.

Ok, so what your saying is that the T5750 runs at half the bandwidth of the Celeron 530 because as I said in my post I benchmarked both, and the T5750 posted a memory score that was about half of what the Celeron posted.

re cpu and memory bandwidth, please remember that the cpu isn't connected directly to the memory

the diagram in section 3.1 of this pdf shows how it all fits together:

    ftp://download.intel.com/design/intarch/manuals/316704.pdf

as to why you're seeing apparantly reduced bandwidth, have you checked the specs with CPUZ? ( CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting) This will confirm the specs of the cpu and memory and show the real time variations in cpu/system performance as the power management logic is in operation

Hi everyone.. I tried to make my own thread about this, but no one is responding, so I thought I'd ask here. If anyone could help me, I'd really appreciate it:

I'm wanting to replace the wireless card in my daughter's Acer Aspire 5315 laptop, and I'm wondering if any of you can recommend one, or at least tell me what type of card I should be looking for. The only thing I know is that the current card's interface is mini pci-e. I'm wondering if this motherboard has any other types of interfaces that a wireless card could fit in, like a cardbus slot. There seems to be very few choices of mini pci-e wireless cards, is the only reason I ask. Also, if I do end up getting a mini pci-e card.. do I need to get a half-height one? Any info you could give me would be helpful.. thank you!

    Hi,

I think you should be looking for a mini pci-e card, there is a plenty out there. I don't have my Acer anymore but looking at this picture it looks like the card is the large one, not the half version. You can easily check that part, you just open the laptop and measure the card, the half version is about 1 inch long the other one is about 2 inches long.
As for what card you should get I've seen people upgrading the 5315 to Intel 4965 with 3 antennas but I think you can go for the Intel 5300, it's a nice card and should work without a problem.

The Intel 4965 is a great card that drops straight into the 5315.

It is cheap and readily available on ebay.

You can even add a third antenna, but its not necessary.

Has anyone tried the software "Setfsb" (set front side buss) to increase the buss speed on a 5315-2153???

    I found a super buy on an intel E8235, 2.8Ghz 6meg, 1066 Fsb, P socket.

Here's a good link to compare processors performance.

Ok, upgraded my RAM to 2GB, and added a HD DVD disk drive from a old laptop, over a year ago. I just ordered a Hitachi 500 MB hard drive, be here tomorrow. I also updated the BIOS to the current with no issues so far. Next on the list is to order a new processor, thinking going big with the T9500.

I was wondering if you could tell me what processors are in fact compatible with the acer aspire 5315-2153. I have that model laptop also and I am interested in upgrading the cpu. I have read all the post in this forum however I was interested in replacing it with the t9500 socket p fsb 800 and had only seen info about the t7 and t8-- processors working. I have search the Internet high and low but this seems to be be the only forum with substantial info. I would like to have an answer before I spend the 239 dollars on the processor because if it were to not work... Well then I have no use for the processor or no other laptop to put it in. I would greatly appreciate a response with any and all info you could tell me. I was thinking of using the t9500 socket p 88 fsb however the whole sla and alg stuff has me uncertain. thanks!

Just wanted to thank everyone for this thread. Especially you, bigozone and hoggie. Because of this thread, I've got my 5315-2077 rockin' with 3GB Kingston HyperX, and a T9300. She's screamin' now. Thinking about getting a SSD next, then I'd be set with this machine for 4 or 5 years. One question, please?
If I were to upgrade the OS to Windows 7, the proper methodology of installing the Acer Empowering Framework and the widgets is to run them as an administrator during install, correct?

Again, thanks everyone. This thread rules.

did I miss something, but is there Empowering Framework for Windows 7?
all I can see is Vista, so I assumed that they are not needed for win 7?!?

I upgraded my CPU two times: first T5550 and now T7300. My main concern is heating - with undervolting it is around 47 degrees Celsius in idle, but under heavy load goes to 61-62 degrees.

Any idea how to keep it cool?

I flashed my BIOS to 1.45, and recently added a Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 with no issues. I bought it on ebay for $40.00 after shipping costs.

I tried to by an T9000 series proc on ebay but got beat out. I believe a few other members have successfly done so.

T9xx yes but not x9xxx. If I recall someone tried x9000 once but the notebook would overheat pretty quickly. I'd stuck with T9300 max if I were you.

If you get an Intel 4965 it is cheap, reliable, and gets and holds good connections. It is draft 'n' and so can give you higher theoretical connection speeds when used with a wireless 'n' router.

In summary, what's not to like.... :)

(plus you can add a third antenna if you want, though its not necessary)

This Intel product spec sheet helps to explain:

Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN Overview.

I don't have access to my 5315 as my niece is using it so I can't get you a photo, sorry.

You don't need to worry about the 3rd antenna and MIMO unless you are having specific serious wireless reception problems.

    Hello ,
This is my first post on this forum . I intend to upgrade my 5315 to a T7250 and 3Gb ram , but i have 1.14 Bios version . Is it necessary tu upgrade the Bios to V. 1.45 (i saw that is the leatest version) . I am asking that because i don't know how to flash the Bios . Do you have a useful link , a tutorial or a DIY for flashing Aces Bios ?
I saw that the latest version taht i have downloaded from acer's website is a self extract file , and i guess that is not a very good idea to flash the bios from the Windows .
Thank you very much ... I am posting this because i am reading this topic from the start and now i am at page 71 .....
    10x all of you .

I think you don't need to update the BIOS, the new CPU should work with the one you have.

Wow, this is probably the most informative and helpful thread I've read in ages; kudos to all those who put this out!!!

I have a bone stock 5315-2153 and I am looking at going with a C2D T8300 and three gigs of ram upgrade. I understand I need a P Socket cpu (which I'll source from eVilBay, but need to know which ram pieces exactly to get in order to maximize my setup. I've read the first 40 pages of this thread, and almost the last ten....but am not quite certain as which ram to get. I'd like to get it off eVilBay also.

Also, what is the easiest and safest way to see what BIOS I'm runnin? Or do I need to really worry about that? I can barely run my flight simulator right now for my R/C heli's and planes even though this little laptop meets the minimums, it still bogs down and that won't help once I get online with SKYPE running on it and then with my simulator and my trainer who lives in Germany and I'm in the US...it's gonna bog down bad and I can't waste his time if my puny puter is laggin on us. Thanks for any help!

I can't wait to make my cheapie puter work better!!!
