AS5 is a great product... but with a T5450 you will have no real need for it..
i'm using the FACTORY heat paste... it's like silly-putty and very inefficent, but the T5450 is not going to generate much heat at all.... nothing like the CELERON's heat.
i do recommend using a dab of isopropal alcohol on a cotton cloth to clean the surface of CPU DIE (the black shiney part) on the T5450 before putting the paste on it
then just remove the paste from the celeron and the heatsink and then palce it on the new CPU.. and reinstall the heatsink.
AS5 is nice.. but not needed for your CPU.
-
-
where can I get one of the isopropal alcohol?
sorry if I have so many questions but I am really- really new to this kinds of things
did you mean isopropyl by isopropal -
and yes i mean isopropyl... the 70% cheap stuff should work fine...
if you were putting AS5 on then you might consider thier cleaning kit or buying the 95% (190 proof) iso.... you can get it at the drug store BEHIND THE COUNTER.. you gotta ask for the good stuff -
this would be my last questions of the week cuz i'll have to go shortly and i have to work on the weekend:cry: .
thanks bigo and hoggie for all your help it means a lot to me. talk to you guys on monday. -
it's a highly rated thermal transfer medium... not quite paste.. often called grease.... due to it's consistancy
STAY AWAY FROM THE CERAMIQUE.. nasty to work w/ and not as good for laptop CPUs
but like i have stated... you won't need it... that's just an extra $10 you can save since the T5450 is not a very hot CPU...

Well done BigO. We now have two positive Acer threads stickied.
Great stuff

Upgrading Acer 4315 need to know if I'm upgradable
I have a acer aspire 4315 with a grey socket. want to upgrade to a t5550 from a celeron 530. upgraded my bios to 1.8. Can i upgrade? -
If you have GM965/GL960 I don't see why not...by the way what's with the html tags you put..that's some weird way to post..
-
what is your current CPU??
download THIS
run it... and on the third line down... PACKAGE STYLE let me know what it says
it should be either SOCKET P or SOCKET M..... we hope it's a SOCKET P
if it is a P then you can use the T5550 or even higher if you wanted to! -
ATG, are you picking on someone for CENTERING THIER TEXT???
-
Not only for that... http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=3645543&postcount=32
joking -
Acer Aspire 4315 -- Socket P -- GL960 (X3100+Celeron)..
-
It says i have a socket 479 mPGA will this work for the t5550 if not what is compatible with this socket
-
Oops....this means socket M right..?
-
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=861&lang=eng
download that and tell me what is says your chipset is -
You sure it says that - try out PC Wizard and Everest, or check out the documentation..!! I am pretty sure that I have seen this model with a celeron m 550....and the 4310 had i945gm..!!
-
It a gm965
-
to be for sure i want him to run the intel chipset id tool
but from what i've found it is most likely a socketP... i can't find any 4315's w/ a socket M
(when i first upgraded i thought that m479 ment socket M... so i ordered a T5300 and a T5600.... and they would not physically fit in the socket..)
if the intel chipset id tool reports that he has an i960 then we know it's socket P
however if the id tool says i940, i943, or i945 then it MUST be a socket M -
you are GOLDEN... you can upgrade all the way to a T7700 if you want...
and maybe higher...
let me check your BIOS info from the ACER site to see what CPUs it supports that way we know how high you can go -
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_4315.html
newer OFFICIAL bios for ACER 4315...
i also found 1.15 bios but it has not been released to the public yet...
i know for a fact that a T5550 will work in your PC... but i'm still looking for info on how high the CPU support goes for your BIOS -
Wooow...an earthquake just now...at least 4...
-
I just removed the back and checked the socket. directly on the socket it says mPGA. Is that compatible with socket P CPUs. because if mPGA is not please tell me what is?
-
what color is the SOCKET??
have you taken the heat sink off the CPU??
if so what is the eSpec #
Celeron M 530 SL9VA is a socket M
Celeron M 530 SLA2G is a socket P
so you can check it for sure by removing the heatsink
BUT I CAN FIND NO 4315's that SHIPPED with a SOCKET M motherboard
and the fact that your chipset is a i965 tells me it HAS TO BE SOCKET P
so a T5550 will drop in and work... -
the socket is white maybe a cream
ill check for the eSpec# right now Ill be off for about 3 min -
its a SLA2G so if thats a socket p why is it in a mPGA?
-
any CPU with an eSpec beginning in SLA is socket P
while a CPU w/ an eSpec beginning in SL9 is socket M
so you have a socket P
the T5550 will work fine for you! -
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/49969-35-intel-mfcpga-mpga
FROM YOUR eSpec i can assure you you have a SOCKET P -
yo,
a bit off topic but can BF2 be played on the stock itel celeron 560 with intel x3100 graphic's card,
if not can i upgrade graphics,
cheers spenaroo -
nice avatar bigo.... is that drew barrymore??
damn she's hot -
but i doubt you'll get the kind of Frames Per Second you are looking for with either OS
and NO LAPTOP with INTERGRATED VIDEO is able to have it's VIDEO upgraded,, only laptops that have SEPERATE DESCREETE CARDS which can be replaced have even a remove chance of being UPGRADEABLE .....
sorry i can't be more help
bigO -
how many times. it's a SOCKET P
hope that cleared that up
nice laptopLast edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -

@hoggie mate the last asking user has Aspire 4315 not 5315...don't scream -

the "down in a hole" location was a refrence to an ALICE IN CHAINS song

I don't know what does "down in a hole" mean
-
allright my t5450 has come
il install it now -
do I have to clean my processor cause there seems to be something looks like glue on the center of the processor
-
it may be reusable -
just use a little alcohol (isopropyl) on a cotton cloth to wipe it off..
do not drench the cloth... just enough to make it damp
then scrape old paste off CELERON and HEATSINK... and place paste on black center of CPU
then re assemble everything and reboot -
sweating here fdarry, don't mess this up
-
forgot to tell ya. I meant it's on the new processor
. So do I have to clean my new processor?
I'm to excited I forget many things. Even I was just back from taking my key hanging on my mailbox in the lobby of my apartment.
-
-
yes clean the new one AFTER PUTTING IT IN THE SOCKET
that protects the PINs from getting bent.....
just dampen the corner of a cloth and wipe the paste off the new one..
then scrape old paste off CELERON and HEATSINK... and place paste on black center of CPU
then re assemble everything and reboot -
ive got to pop out....so keep calm lads...i will be back
Phil -
all right here goes nothing.... be back in a couple of hours.....
-
i can do it in 5 mins,,, but i've done it a few times
print POST #2 out
and follow it -
the stress is getting to me
