i'm back and fully UPGRADED![]()
wasn't as hard as I thought but it was one hell of a ride
-
damn... 53 minutes... you need to practice
congrats... easy wasn't it? -
This is because it was your first time..you need more practice
-
well done fdarryl. another victory
congrats
Phil -
Yeah... a lot of practice....
cmon 53 minutes is good gimme a break...
What really slows me down was myself though.... There are lots of "what-will- happen-if-something-this-and-something-that" question on my head?
well it's worth it though cus I can feel my fan is a lot cooler, startup is faster although I'm using Vista, battery life is finally better... usually on 100% power the battery life is 1hr10mnt and now on 50% power bat. life is 1hr 5mnt... God I sure am happy -
yeah this calls for a party tonight
-
+Rep. -
Yeah I know the feeling...upgrading to T7500 felt so good...
-
@atthegates: Way to rub it in my face buddy!!!
just kiddin
I wish I can invite the person on Bigo's avatar for a little private party.... -
You've upgraded from celeron to c2d right?
In my case it was dualcore to c2d...so the "performance-feeling-experience" should be pretty much the same..
-
hey Bigo I just remembered why dont you put this on your front page:
fdarryl SUCCESSFULLY UPGRADED HIS CPU TO T5450 -
when i dream of her tonight i'll tell her you all like the PIC
edit::
i'll put it up but you know i gotta tease you about taking 53 minutes to remove and replace 11 screws -
im watching her on TV now 50 First Dates.
one poo film -
@Bigozone: why not it's a new record..... I'm proud of that...
@hoggie: what are you talking about that is a great movie.... Adam Sandler is one of the best actor in the world -
when i watch her movies all i see are her luscious curves
-
-
hey you really put my name up on the front page..... I was just joking....
I'm happy though -
-
oh come on..... you just cant stop raining on my parade can ya?....
-
have you read the UNDERVOLTING THREAD yet??
-
yeah I did..... I undervolted my lappie but I haven't recognized any change.....
or maybe I should restart first?? -
did you run thr ORTHOS stress test... for each multiplier.... to find stable voltages?? or did you cheat like i did and just set everything to the minimum??
THE MOST IMPORTANT THIS is to set ALL PROFILE SETTINGS to PERFORMANCE ON DEMAND... and under ADVANCED CPU SETTINGS make sure you have MOBILE CPU checked
and yes you must reboot and HAVE ALL THE SETTINGS configured properly or you won't see any change at all.... and even when set-up properly the change may be very small..
my laptop shows 2hrs 30 mins of power available with a full battery when power is unplugged
go thru that GUIDE very carefully and exactly!!! -
no i didn't cheat . well at least not completely...
oh well
i'll re-boot first -
reboot and see if the little RMCLOCK icon (the gear) in the system tray switches from grey to RED as the CPU load increases.. and move the mouse over the gear to show current temps, voltages, multipliers, ect..
that will let you know if RMCLOCK is configured properly -
yeah it sometimes change to red......
do you change every single VID or not?? -
i have all my voltages for each multiplier set at 0.950 volts...
but you need to test to be sure your chip is stable at that voltage....
do the stress test using orthos as detailed in the UNDERVOLTING GUIDE.
TEST FOR EACH MULTIPLIER
was there much dust coating the fins on the heatsink when you took it out... and how are your temps now??? -
i thought we were supposed to change the bottom VID only....
oh yeah there are tons of'em..... I cleaned it out and now it's around 38C to 43C... It was usualy 47C-60C on my celeron -
-
my max is 39C now in HW monitor... is that good??
I guess it is -
Totally. The max temp your CPU can handle is 100ºC...
-
I was kind of thinking maybe it is to cold... oh well, at least my PC don't die
-
what temps are being reported by RMCLOCK???
i average about 46 to 48c.. after hours of surfing -
about 36 both Core's now
-
yo
for those who saw my first post apparently the x3100 can play bf2 as long as the settings are at low (sucks ay) anyway i have not tested this and would prefer to hear if someone has tried before buying the game. also it is recomended to intstall 2gb ram and update drivers if u want any "performance" from the video card
p.s. it took a bit of web searching to find any basic details on the X3100's gaming ability
apparently the video card is extremely bad to predict gaming ability, to quote someone on a nother forum "it plays old games averagely, and new game's averagely -
oh and if your cores are so cold why not overclock?
-
can't overclock w/o info about PLL.... and to my knowledge SETFSB does not support the PLL of this computer's mainboard!
the most important thing you can do to enchance the possibility of running ANY game on the 5315 is to install XP. it uses much less system resources for the OS... freeing up more ram and CPU for use by the game.
Ram is cheap so why not upgrade it?? -
Try out CPUcool -- it has loadza new PLLs..!! But it gets screwed up in Vista..
-
i guess i'll have to figure out what my PLL actually is now??
oh well... that'll give me a reason to break out the screwdrivers
Thanks for the INFO andag -
hey... not bad my bat. life is around 2 hours now.....
I'm gonna push a little bit more if possible....
@spenaroo: what game is bf2 I wanna try it.... -
Anyway, as you can see, the clock generator is listed in CL50_REL.txt in included in every BIOS update. -
well that just took all the fun out of disassembling my PC and searching for the PLL IC... j/k
i guess that leaves me more time to SPAM the ACER forum(not kidding)
thanks for the info... i thought that was the chips #,,, but was not sure! -
Thats a fairly new clock generator....I don't think it will be available in any software..!!
Best is to get its datasheet and physically hardwire the correct pins or pass it onto clockgen and cpucool....!!
Setfsb is crap.... the guy said that my PLL won't work either, whereas cpucool already supported it.... -
-
Naaahh....Been using CPUcool for 6 months now..!!
It has full functionality (I just need to UP the FSB), just shows a kocky msg during exit - pay **$ for it to get the full version and all....
It is kinda free in a way..I guess you need to pay to just get rid of the exit msg..

It is likely that T9xxx cpus can be used safely on the 5135!
After a recent clean Vista install I noticed that the system fan was being automatically controlled to cool the T9500ES I am using as my day to day cpu.
This individual cpu has a known shortcoming in its power/thermal management firmware and previously had only been useable under load in conjunction with IK8FAN, (a setup which has been fast and completely reliable).
I found that the T9500ES could now complete its load tests (mainly OCCT v2), without IK8FAN.
When I had previously (ie before clean install) tried a retail T9300, it would not run for more than 2 minutes under load, and IK8FAN didn't help. It seemed worth giving the T9300 another try.
The T9300 has now successfully run through a cycle of load tests (mainly OCCT v2) with no problems.
I am therefore cautiously optimistic that the T9xxx cpus can be used on the 5135, provided you carry out a clean install of the OS.
I am only cautiously optimistic because I am still seeing system event log errors relating to cpu firmware incompatibilities, but these may well be due to the flawed T9500ES having been used during the clean install. I will be checking this out in the near future when I have a spare HD to do a clean install with the T9300 in situ. -
keep me posted so i can revise the FRONT PAGE
-
as well as bieng big for multiplayer it is also a common game to MOD -
download the HALO demo from microsoft....
install and run HALO....
that should give you an idea of GPU and CPU preformances -
hey....ACER just released 1.42&1.43 BIOS on acer Europe site.... Has anyone tried it?? 1.42 is fine but how 'bout 1.43? anyone wanna give it a shot? Btw, it's for 5315
-
i've been running 1.43 for about 5 days.... no problems
it mainly fixed a compatibility w/ MICRON ram
and changed actions of networks after WAKE from hibernate
