I want to know if someone here have found a real internal Antenna for TV-tuner.

For the moment i've always seen, wifi like antenna.

    Hello again,

I upgraded my Acer 7720G with the geforce 9600 card, and sorted my heat issue. But now I have a "random" blank screen. Anyone got an idea why this is happening?

    Hi :)

I've updated my ENE CIR port with driver 3.6.0.0, seems to be the latest version available here :

Download ENE CIR Receiver Windows 7 Driver v.3.6.0.0

    works fine with Ene0100.

But i want to know how to obtain a working remote control who use C6 protocol

I have 3 remote control, one from Acer, 2 from HP, but nothing seems to work.

any suggestion ? (perhaps the .inf needs some mods ?)

    Regards,Ray

    PS :

After some .inf exploration i see that :

    [enecir_inst.NT.AddReg]
HKR,,DeviceCharacteristics,0x10001,0x0100 ; Use same security checks on relative opens
    HKR,,Security,,"D :p(A;;GA;;;BA)(A;;GA;;;SY)" ; Allow generic-all access to Built-in administrators and Local system
;HKR,,"IrHid",0x00010001,1 ; ir hid non RC6. Manually add it(REG_DWORD) in registry to enable ZINWELL PV-100

seems the EN0100 doesn't support RC6 protocol , and you need this remote control :

    http://www.emtcompany.com/zinwell-pv-100-remote-control/101329283.html

Don't hesitate to correct if i'm in wrong way. :)

I just put the 9600M GT in my 7720g. The acer screen looks fine, but as soon as windows loads up I can see green vertical lines running through the background. When windows is fully loaded, my desktop has very faint horizontal ripples running through the background.

I uninstalled my old drivers and installed the latest new ones from laptopvideo2go, but that didn't change a thing.

    What should I check for?

EDIT: After watching more closely, the green vertical bars can be seen on the black screen a split second before the white acer load screen starts.

Also, when I try to run the official Nvidia drivers, I get a message telling me nvidia can't find any compatible hardware.

Any help is appreciated, all these laptop issues are making me feel so useless :( I'm scared to try a new vbios, but I'm also scared to send the card back, because a new one might have the same problem :/

EDIT2: When I install the LV2G drivers, GPU-Z tells me I have the 9600M GT / GT 2 .... installed. What's up with that :/ Also, it's DDR2 1024 MB memory, but the card I ordered was the DDR3 with 512MB memory version.
Device manager lists: Nvidia Geforce 9600M GT / Geforce GT 220M

    @kailog:

Normally, green line like that are usually caused by bad graphics memory module so it looks like one of the memory chips is probably faulty.

Also, check the number engraved on the memory chips and google it to see if it refers to ddr3 module or ddr2 and you'll know for sure if its ddr2 or 3.

after that if you bought it on ebay and was listed as ddr3 and in fact is ddr2 you can ask for a refund because the item was significantly not as described.

    good luck

Thanks, in that case I'll probably return it.

My pc-shop put the card in and I'm a tad reluctant too open it up myself again (some screws are almost un-screwable :/ ), so I'll head back to the store to let them check the serial again.

I should have double-checked it before I put it in, but I was too excited. :(

    just to signal :

    CSX 4GB DDR2 800Mhz 200Pin SO-DIMM
    CSXO-D2-SO-800-4GB

WORKS if you used only 1 memory Module, but strange :

Bios recognize 7680MB of memory but Windows see correctly 4GB

DON'T WORK if 2 Module are fitted in my 7720G :

Start, but blackscreen, no Post screen.

PS: The memory module works Perfectly in my 6930G (1 or 2 simultaneously)

Can someone can confirm me this one are the good one :

You won't be able to put more than 4gb total in your 2 available slots. After a little search on google, the 7720 seems to be limited to a max of 4 gb. That's why i doesn't start when you put 2 x 4gb in it.

    regards

I've done al this but something seems a little strange.
    All lines on nvac.inf look like %NVIDIA_DEV.0649. 013C.1025% = Section005, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0649&SUBSYS_013
while the line that we add is much smaller %NVIDIA_DEV.0649.21% = Section005, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0649&SUBSYS_056710DE
The bolded XXXX.XX is missing and therefore (i assume) i get my card working but with a different name, in device manager is named as "%NVIDIA_DEV.0649.21%".
Do you have any idea what is the correct syntax for the nvac.inf or do you have any .inf ready? Thanks!

Hi guys, i just to replace my 8600m gt for a 9600m gt and the gpu-z says this: Bus Interface -> PCI-E 1.1 x16 @x1 1.1. Is this correct?, why my PCI-E port is working on x1 speed instead x16. Could someone help me pls?, thanks in advance ;)

By the way, AIDA64 says the same thing, so i think is not a reading error. And I have the latest chipset drivers and GPU drivers(301.42) with modded inf.

Run a game while GPU-Z is running in background, press Alt-Tab to switch to GPU-Z and see if your card works at x16 then. In Windows there is no need for your card to work at x16 but if your card works at x1 then something is wrong.

    Thanks,

I will bring it into work this afternoon and try it. If it works im going to order the new LCD, Bluetooth module and new SSD for it. should be a great notebook for a long time then. the days of computers being obsolete in a year is gone. I remember buying a celeron 566 for school back in 99, that was a mid range computer at the time, and 6 months later it was useless really.

Hi again guys, after a lot of hours of proves and headaches, i've got this conclusion: i have not idea about what's happening with this GPU. In summary, i have upgraded my 7720g with a 9600m gt mxm-II, i have BIOS v1.45 but this GPU run too slow. My AIDA64 says that PCI-E runs at x1 speed but i have PCI-E x16 available (GPU-Z says the same). I've played a game in window mode and at the same time i run AIDA64 and still says PCI-E runs at x1. I have the chipset drivers updated and the GPU drivers too(304.79 with inf. modded).

This problem is drive me crazy, could someone help me pls. I'm running out of ideas. Thanks in advance guys

By the way, I have a T9300 processor , 3 GB of RAM 667Mhz, HDD is a WD Scorpio 5400 rpm and a 9600m GT and in 3dmark06 only achieve 3106 but in several internet benchmark, similar builds achieve around 5000 points. And at the end of the benchmarck 3dmark06 says "9600m gt(1x)" so ... what is wrong with my laptop?, thank you guys

If you can take apart your notebook again. inspect every cap for leakage or even a bump in the top. that could be your problem. or even a poorly seated component.

Your GPU-Z screenshot is identical to mine, even the BIOS version, except I'm using 257.21 and Windows 7 64-bit...

I doubt it's a software problem, but you can always try a clean Windows install just to be sure. You said it was a used card, maybe that's the problem from the start.

    Hi All,
Just wanted to say what a great and informative (and polite!) forum this is. The help available is amazing. I stumbled across this by accident while I was working at the Olympic Park (had to drop that in!) after the 8400M board in my 7720G died. I didn't even know it was replacable until an Acer technician here confirmed it for me. I bought a re-con board on e-bay and installed it then discovered it was a 9300M with 512MB. After that I read up about replacing the T7300 CPU. I have bought a T9300 which is waiting to be fitted along with a 250GB SSD to replace the original drive. The RAM has already been upgraded to 4GB PC2-6400 and I am sorely tempted by that Black keyboard. Couldn't have even attempted it without all the advice and help here.
    Thanks.... ;)

Yes, the thread is great. I'm taking my 7720 to work today to make sure the video card can do 1920x1080. If so, its on like donkey Kong. Full upgrade then as I have to replace the fan/cooler. Its gotta come apart anyways. Might as well do the ssd, processor, black keyboard and hi Res LCD. I only have the Intel on board video so I cannot upgrade to the good video card.

If I remember correctly (didn't have the time to check it out) the P models are for entirely different socket and they work at a higher bus.

Hi guys! I'm looking for some advice an maybe a bit of reassurance solving the problems with my laptop.

I've had a 7720G with GeForce 9500mGS for 4 years now and I'm so far very satisfied with it.

Unfortunately, few week ago a problem appeared: I was playing some video game and at one point the game just slowed down and became unplayable. After trying to quit it for several minutes, I gave up and restarted the computer.

At that point I noticed that the screen is refreshing extremely lowly. At first it starts black and later on I can see each line being drawn very slowly on the screen. The rest of the computer seems to work correctly, and after some 45 minutes, I can actually see something that resembles the Windows login screen. Still, everything is working so slowly that the computer is unusable. I suspect that the video card is the problem an the authorized service center for Acer here confirmed the issue (but I'm not sure how much I trust them) and informed me that the model has reached end of life and that they can't obtain parts for it.

So I started looking for available video cards and I'm considering buying VGA Board 512Mb GDDR3 NB9P-GS (VG.9PG06.008). From what I could decode that should be GeForce 9600 GT, which from what I've read here should work fine, right? I'm using 1.45 bios.

Also sometime last year I broke one of the screws holding the GPU heatsink in place. I didn't think too much of it then, since there were no noticeable differences in temperatures, but since I'm changing the video card, I thought I might change the screws too. Unfortunately, I have no idea what that type of screw is called. Can anyone help me with this?

According to the Intel website that processor uses a 1066Mhz FSB and I believe from what I've gleaned in these pages, the 7720G can only use up to a 800Mhz FSB, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong...?

Yes, you are right! Socket is supported but the bus speed is "too high" :)
