Hey guys I have an Acer Aspire V7-482PG-6629. I have some battery issue. When I use my laptop, when the battery level reaches about 20-30% I get a pop up saying that it's low battery and it's at 5% battery left! Has anyone encountered a similar issue, or is this a problem with my battery? I've had this laptop for only a couple of months and my battery meter should be working properly because I followed the manual and did a 2 time full discharge and charge.

The problem is when there 30%-35% (2-3 hours) battery left the low battery notification pops up and says then only 5% left and I need to charge the battery. (The battery level jumps from 30% to 5%)

Hi I would like to ask, how is the performance of this laptop with regards to games. Does your v7 run games at 1080p smoothly? I got this laptop and it runs dota 2 at 1080p really well, but I tried diablo 3 and there was a stuttering issue. Average frame rate was 20-30fps but every time I mouse over NPCs/mobs it will stutter. Also strife gets my laptop running really hot.

I don't have any issues with Diablo 3. Make sure you have the latest driver. I play at 1080p as well.

Utterbutter, what settings and drivers do you have for DOTA2? How's the performance? I had to input a bunch of DirectX commands in the launch prompt in order to get good performance on my laptop (something to do with Nvidia Optimus and its incompatibility with DOTA's engine)

P.S. For those looking to unlock advanced settings on their V7, please look to this thread and try flashing this BIOS by sovem. I'm in the middle of getting it to work, but I believe I've ran into a problem with USB incompatibility. Would be great if you guys could help out.

My settings are at 1080p all graphics at high. It plays really smoothly out of the box.

Can confirm that diablo 3 runs smoothly at 1080p, except when I mouse over mobs/npcs, which results in a blinking black box around my cursor, and stuttering lag. Wondering what is the problem, can't find anyone having the same problem as me on the diablo 3 forums. I have tried reinstalling diablo 3, and have updated my drivers. Btw mine is a starter edition I downloaded over battle.net.

Be careful with that program SharpKeys. It messed up my registry and I had to reload everything. I decided to just retrain myself to get used to the small shift key on the left.

For those of you who installed a msata and added the hdd as a storage drive. Have you noticed the hdd starting up constantly? I have this set up but i hear the hard drive spinning up constantly. Im trying to narrow down to see if it is the anti virus or a program running. i have barely anything installed on the hdd. I keep some small sql server database for class on it to conserve space on the msata and thats about it. any help is appreciated.

I am sticking with Windows 8 for now. I have no problems with it and have read of problems with the upgrade to 8.1. I used to be an early adopter, now I believe that if it ain't broke, why fix it. Seems to run almost everything Windows 7 did, just added StartMenuX to get a start button. I am getting used to the new Start screen but a lot of those apps seem very limited compared to desktop apps, so I use them rarely.

I updated to Windows 8.1 as I have a Surface Pro, and I had no issues on it.

I like Windows 8.1 because there's the option to boot straight to the desktop rather the Metro menu. That and a bunch of other small features or menu offerings that I became accustomed to.

I am still on Windows 8, tried to go 8.1 a long time ago, got all of the best drivers direct from Nvidia and Intel, system kept messing up.
Tried to go windows 8.1 with only Acer drivers, still had problems, sticking with windows 8 for as long as I have the laptop I guess.

Hey - Has anyone bought the Acer Aspire V7-582PG-74508G25TKK With the 256SSD

    Couple of questions
Is the SSD in a drive or Msata
And if so is there still a Msata port to be used? or is it just better to buy the 500Gb HDD model and put a 256 mSata in. ?

I've been getting an error quite a few times about closing programs because of low memory. not just when i'm playing path of exile either... resource monitor says i'm sitting at 3982MB of ram in use and 3962MB available. that's just with chrome, resource monitor and event viewer open.
i have the V7-482PG-6629 model btw.

ok, some comparison would be nice since no one is jumping on this. go to run. type in "perfmon /res" click the memory tab and see what you're at... or click the overview tab and check the memory line and see what % Used Physical Memory is at. Mine is at 45% with just Chrome and Resource Monitory open. Sounds like a lot with with 8gigs of ram

I consistently have 25% ram usage, and I have 12GB. I just have Firefox open right now, nothing else, still at 25% usage. Firefox uses ~250mb. My system has a little bloatware as possible.

I can't remember what I deleted, but I deleted most bloatware (including Metro apps I didn't use). I still have most of the Acer applications though.

    RAM usage ATM is 25% - 2100MB

I tried to fresh install Windows 7 before, but I kept getting errors installing some of the drivers so I just restored back to the original state, updated to 8.1, and removed bloatware. I also removed the caching feature since I have a SSD.

I wouldn't be ignorant as to blame 8.1 for your problems. If anything, it diagnosed your faulty RAM.

    Capture.PNG

Some manufacturers disable VMX by default and have it hidden in the advanced menu. I don't believe my 482PG has the option to toggle it on or off in the BIOS, but it's enabled as far as I can see from running HWiNFO on my laptop (see attached image).

I would chalk it up to having a different motherboard, and Acer disabling it on the 582PGs by default.

It was all full working order in the beginning with win 8 ..

about that VMX looks like in 482PG is enabled and in 582PG is disabled ..weird !

WEI is worthless at best. The score on your laptop is inferior because the "benchmark" ran on integrated graphics and not on the GT 750M. And the iGPU on your tablet has more dedicated memory than the one on your laptop.

They probably overrode optimus and had the GT 750M running during the benchmark. Or they deactivated the iGPU from the bios.. I can't tell how they went about it (because I don't have the computer to test) but they ran it on the GT 750 and you didn't that's for sure.

just set your virtual memory (VM) or paging file size under the system properties customized to 7GB initial mem and 7GB max mem.

laptops get hot when gaming hardcore games. question is rather how hot can they go and how noisy and stressed the gpu/cpu and fans go? the V7 run light-core games at 45 C, mid-core pretty good at 65 C on average and at max around 84 C for hardcore games which is fine. you wouldn't want anything running over 95 C which some laptops are. anything running over 90 C pretty much shortens your laptops lifespan and easily susceptible to wear and tear. also, since 90 C is pretty hot, expect your fans to go berserk.

and yes, you can change your SSD. you can install an msata or a 7mm SSD to your laptop. also, it can run LOL at max settings at 1080p with 60fps.

look at your WEI spec sheet again. your Iconia has more allocated memory for integrated graphics and more dedicated graphics memory as well compared to the V7's integrated graphics..

also, as Thierry mentioned, ignore WEI ratings. you already know that the GT750m is a fast GPU and I don't think it would matter if WEI scores it 1.0 unless you are so anal about it.</execution></correlation></timecreated></provider></system></event>

GalaxySII, WEI is a "benchmark" for noobs that don't know anything about computers.

If you are so worried, run an actual benchmark like 3DMark.. but there's really nothing wrong.

Maybe I'm blind, but where can I find the mSATA drive on the MOBO?

I have a V7-582PG-6479, and it says I have an mSATA, but for the life of me I don't see it.

So where the red arrow is?

Gee, it looks like mine didn't come with one.

No worry, I've got an extra one.

    Thanks!!!
