Those temprautres are still rather good!! I would not suggest do that, imagne you want to watch a movie and your fan is 100% all the time, I would go crazy.

You would get a performance increase. You're L2 is twice as much, and you're clocked higher. No dubt :) Feel free to ask if there is anyting you wonder.

Dude, I'm so sorry, I ment X9100. I always do that typo. REP added.

It's very kind of you to answer me so quickly tunay. If my memory serves me well, the T6600 has only 2MB L2 cache, while T9550 has 6MB, which means triple much more. Some guys told me to upgrade the GPU first, then the CPU since CPU improves only overall performance (applications in Windows, multitasking), while GPU truly increases gaming performance (the frames-per-second). What do ya think tunay.

It really depends on what you are going to use your laptop for.

I would say, if you upgrade your GPU now, you CPU will be way to weak to handle what your GPU can, so you will be somewhat limited.

But if you're like me, use Photoshop, Sony Vegas PRO, multitasking etc. I would say CPU is the way to go for you.

Also, don't forget that, if you get very bad results in games, it is very very easy (it takes 3 steps) to overclock your GPU a bit. And don't be worried, I bet over 90% of NBR users overclock their GPUs.

It also depends on what games you play, if you play for example games like GTA IV, your CPU is atleast most important as your GPU.. Same goes for Black Ops. But most games are GPU demanding, that's somewhat true.

I'm still using GT 130M and with overclock it does really well for my use. But, as I have said before, I do not game so much anymore, so I'm more focused on CPU and my RAM. Currently, I'm lost trying to get a stable FSB of 1333Mhz. I got my parts today, and my Acer is up and running again more then 1 month of just collecting dust. I'll let you all know the result.

However, if you still is unsure what to do; Open task manger, leave it at CPU tab and start gaming, somewhat in middle of game do Alt + Tab and see how much of your CPU is eaten. That will give somewhat a idea of how much your CPU can improve your gaming (and overall performance).

Thanks for the rep Tunay :D , and I hope that you too can get the X9100 because I tell you, it's a real bomb! However, probably futher I'll buy a nice 6770M, and after I will be in place for at least another 3 years ... :D :D

Hehe, no problem, well deserved :)

I'll only get it if 1333Mhz goes stable. I do not game on my laptop anymore, and it will just be useless for me as T9900 is more then enough for the moment.

My laptop is up and running again, really flying this time :D

I'll a album with pictures, but keep in mind that my modifications isin't done, yet :)

Okay, so, my Acer is up and runing again with just one of the modifications done.

Beside that, I've got my self new set of RAM sticks and a Solid State Drive. For futher look at the photo album I've created.

    Pictures by TunayK - Photobucket

I also wonder guys, how many of you use Facebook? I might create a FaceBook group for future picture uploads.

    Update:

Just had to post this, I've disconnected the AC in order to drain my battery to 0 for calibrating as it has been sitting and so randomly used for last time. My laptop reported amazing 2.5 hours the time I unpluged it, and now, 2 hours and 10 minutes later, it still reports 15 minutes to go!!!! And guess what? The profile is set to High Performance and brightness is on full! Last, in class I got about 4 hours of this laptop but that was with Powersaver profile and minimum brightness. I'd never got 2 hours on battery on High Performance before.

I have been surfing on Facebook, replied some therads here on NBR, listed to music on YouTube all the way. Outlook, Skype, Kasperksy PURE, everything is running.

This is just too good to be true.

Many thanks tunay. You're so kind and helpful. I've been successful in flashing bios and boosting the FSB of the T6600. How can I OC my HD4570 as you said above, please give me some instructions or the threads on this topic ? And could u please give me your Yahoo Messenger or Skype for further discussion in your spare time ?

    Nik,
If you're going to buy a 6770M, I do not recommend buying from this guy. I sent mine off to get exchanged on September 28th and he still says he hasn't received it. I contacted the people that run the site and they say they can't do anything about it since the payment has been released. Just a heads up.

Wait a minute? Didn't you have a nVidia card? :D

If it were nVidia I could give you a guide myself, but ATI/AMD card, try this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/gaming-software-graphics-cards/487795-how-overclock-ati-5650-a.html

I've heard negative feedback about the alibabaguy as well. I would stay clear.

One more question my friend. The first time I used the setfsb to increase the FSB of my T6600 to 4/6 as guided in the topic, the laptop automatically restarted and the new FSB was applied. The second time (I've rebooted the laptop) I started up setfsb to do the same, the system freezed. Do you have any idea on this ?

You mostly likely had to edit your RAM timings a bit, make sure they apply at startup. The betst thing to so would be to flash the RAM sticks to higher timings (higher=slower) permanently. But, not found a program that work with ddr3 yet.

If the ram timings is not the case then maybe 1333Mhz isint stable for you.

    Hi guys!
Did not get my T9550 yet :(
Hey you dont know how to chenge the CPU without opening the whole notebook?
There is a very simple way!
Just unscrew the 3 screws that keeps the CPU tight.
Then grab the uppon part of cooling about 20 degrees angle up just unlock the CPU with a screwdriver and undermine the cpu, put it out before placing in o a paper or a card or something. Very easy way! To put it back in place the CPU in the right way on a paper/card and get it into the socket position carefully, do not break any pin. Try it out and soory for my bad english :)
    I made a n00b pic of that :)

Just like putting a pizza out of the furnace :_:_:_

Just dont do it too often as this will damage the heatpipe. For one or two times though then as long as your are careful that's fine.

I rather take my whole laptop apart and do it properly :)

But, a good shortcut if you feel like you won't be able to put it together again :)

But as Meaker said, don't bend it to much as you will breake it right off.

    What do you mean?
    Its not going to brake!
I dont crook the heatpipe 20degrees :) It just goes like that. The radiator and the heatpipe does go up without any problems. Why are you getting worried?

    Hi Tunay!
I dont bend it at all. There is not any risk.
Or at least a lot less risk than taking apart the whole laptop :)

Tunay does your 1066 crucial ram run at 1333?

lol, my laptop have been apart countless times, and everytime I have managed to get it back together :) The reason why I don't want to bend the heatpipe is because there is luqid inside, and if any for some reason bend it too much and 'block' that way it can have very bad effects for the tempratures. But however, I know there is a bit rom to lift it, you're safe as long as you know what you doing.

I don't know if my RAM runs at 1333Mhz, but I know my for sure my CPU does not do that. So, I have to take my laptop apart and take my T4500 or something and try FSB overclock... I don't think that will happend in near time through.

Agree too. With the service manual guide, I've managed to disassemble my laptop (from an entire form to every bit of hardware) easily and safely. After two times, now I can do it without checking the guide. :D

    hey guys
    just a question
I think I'm gonna buy the T9900 today but you find different ones in the internet. One goes SLGEE and some others SLGKH
which one should I buy, what are the diffenences?

Edit: umm, btw i can get a SLGEE on ebay for 215$, is that price ok?

Edit²: also need to grab a new fan as the bearing of mine is broken and it really produces heavy vibrations. so i got the adda green sticker one, but there is also a black sunon one, which one is better?

    Hello!

For the CPU look here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/gat...1fx-cpu-upgrade-mod-thread-2.html#post6319152

215 USD seems okay actually, it is a bit lower what I've bought mine for..

You want to get the ADDA fan if you want a quite running laptop. The Sunon is a bit louder, I've also for some reason got higher tempratures with the Sunon fan.

It has also been discussed here before, don't have track of which page tou..

    Good Luck!

sorry for bothering you with already answered questions...

so then, looking forward to replace my p7450 with the t9900 :)
i just hope the temps wont go up too high, got 87°C max today while playing...maybe its because the fan isnt that good anymore

No problem. You're welcome.. BUT 87C for a P7450 is way Way WAy WAY too high!

For the CPU replace, I suggest you testing you're heatpipe, use a good thermal paste, clean the old paste proper way, make it shiny as it was when it left the factory. :D

Boil some water, put one end of the heatsink in to it, the part you're holding should get very warm very quickly. I mean, matter of seconds. About 3-4 old laptop, a replacement might be required. But failiuare of heatpipe is rare, however, I did not take any chance and replaced mine.

You mind telling me rest of your system? :)

Feel free to ask if there is anything my friend :)

OK heres my laptop (pretty much original)

    P7450 2.13GHz
    GT240M
    4GB RAM
640GB WD6400BEVT HDD (replaced my WD 250gb one)
    W7-64bit

thanks for the heatsink tip, I will try it when I'm about to replace the CPU..

I'm also unhappy with the temps, once they were just up to 70-72°C
Then, maybe half a year ago, I disassembled the whole laptop (without any service manual^^), grabbed the heatpipes out and cleaned the rills and also cleaned the fan (I think I damaged it by that way lol). Then I cleaned the heatsink surfaces and the CPU/GPU dies very well and applied new thermal compound. Reassembled the whole thing and finished. The temps were better again, but I was never able to reach the original low temps.
So lets see how it works with new CPU and fan...

ahh BTW, you really get pissed off when you just finished reassembling the laptop, start OS, everythings fine, then start music and the subwoofer wont work (forgot to plug in the connector and I had to open it up again) :D

I need help, I want to do a upgrade on my cpu and ram could you tell me if the T9900 is working fine without any modding?? Are crucial 8gb ram working without any modding? Thank you in advance.

bernida, that's the right choise. No matter what else you upgrade, without a better CPU you'll not get any far.

Welcome Mikemilk! Any 4GBx2 RAM kit (ofcourse laptop memory) will work without modding. Also the T9900 works without modding. However, I wouldd higly suggest you to upgrade your BIOS to lastest avaiblie from support.acer.com.

Do you know how to repaste your CPU? You know how to clean the old thermal paste?

Also, if you have plans to overclock your FSB (CPU and RAM), then T9900 isin't the right choise. FYI.

Go with a known brand for RAM, and lifetime warranty.

For the CPU, it really depends on what you use your computer for and how much money you want to spend.

Ill prob get 1 of 4 depending on the price I can get it for on ebay. Either the T9550. T9600, T9800 or T9900. I'm thinking it will end up being either the T9600 or T9800 depending if I can catch them at a good price. The T9550 you can get for around $64.

    (min/aver.FPS)21,3/34,8 || 29,6/38,6 || 31,4/39,18

    GTA4 *5 |||||| 29,66 ||||||| 32,59 |||||| 33,75

*1: the thermal paste was a little bit old so the temps. are weird high
    *2: After using IntelBurnTest custom 512MB 5times
    *3: GPU=GT240M O/C 662/1471/963
*4: All options on High, resolution 1366x768 without AA. Test done with a build in benchmark tool.
*5: FPS while all options set to High except night shadows (off) max resolution. Bars are on 25/25/25 definition on, vsync off game version 1.0.7.0

    Yeah I'm getting finally above 8k (8121p) in 3Dmark 06!!
The scores goes more up from a T6600 to P8600 than from a P8600 to T9550 cause of the different FSB T6600=800, P8600,T9550=1066. And the RAM is running on the same FSB like the CPU so the T6600 was slowing down the RAM.
Is it really worth it to change my 2x2GB RAM to 2x4GB? for about 30$ when I sell my 2x2GB kit. What do you think?

how the hell you get that low temps lol...^^
even after applying new thermal paste and cleaning the rills and fan i get 39-42C idle and even 75-85C under load

and not with a TXXX but with a P7450 (!!) which has -10W TDP compared to T-series... :(

with which program you read the temps? i use coretemp as any other program displays +10C too much...

    Lol i use CoreTemp too v. 0.99.8
I'm getting those low Idle temps (32°C) when powering the laptop after complete cool down and waiting 5 mins, but after doing something like games etc. and waiting a while (IDLE about 3 mins) I'm getting only like 34/34°C so maybe 2°C more than I posted above...
I cleared the rills and a little bit the fan.
I'm using the rest of my old Noctua NT-H1 thermal compound which is worse than Arctic Silver 5...
I'm gonna stress the CPU once again for 10mins and will see what temps does it reach...

OK tested absolutely MAX temps are 78°C/78°C.
Tunay I did not listened you and i choose the SUNON black fan. It was quieter than the fan with a green sticker (ADDA) but Sunon performs good i guess ^^,

After stressing out the CPU in IntelBurnTest for 10mins and just letting the CPU to cool down it gets from 78°C/78°C:
    After 15 seconds 68°C/68°C
    After 45 secs 58°C/58°C
    After 1,45min 43°C/43°C
    After 3mins 37°C/37°C
    After 4mins 35°C/35°C
    After 5mins 34°C/34°C

Not agreed. Noctua NT-H1 is actually better in real world use. Maybe your is bad because it is the "rest" :D

Otherwise nice, and yes, many have upgraded the GPU.

Just one last thing Owner, can you get a stable FSB overclock?

Hey Tunay you should add this processor on the first page, i got my 5739G with that one: Intel® Core™2 Duo processor P7350 (3 MB L2 cache, 2.00 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 25 W), supporting Intel® 64 architecture.

And Tuney sorry my bad Noctua is better:
    Q6600 Idle temp:
    Arctic Silver 5 30°C
    Noctua NT-H1 28°C

But like i said I'm using already used thermal grease from my old desktop Q9300 haha :' :)

Where is the list of all MXM 3.0-A graphics that we are able to run?
    I know these GPUs:
    -GT130M
    -GT240M
    -GTS250M
    -HD4670M
    -HD5650M?? I'm not sure..
    -HD5730M
    -HD6770M

Tuney i did not overclocked my FSB (CPU&RAM) it runs at 266 by now, but I want reach 333 :)
I heard that the T series is better to OC cause the higher voltages than the P series...
If i will get a modded BIOS is there no way to get higher V on the CPU than stock 1.212V?
I read on Intel ARK that the T9600 and T9900 got higher Volteges (1.215) than my T9550 = I know thats not much :) 0.003V :) Whats the operating voltage fot the T9800?

I need to change my graphics :)
I dont want to go for AMD :(
All my friends got problems with drivers (there are problems in games with lower resolutions)...

GTS250M is cool IMHO :) 96 streaming processors vs 48 SP of my GT240M.
    GT240M got aver. 6503,5 points in 3DMark 06 (mine has 8121 :) )
GTS250M got aver. 7982 points in 3DMark 06 (if it would O/C like my GT240M than the score should be about 10k = 6770M stock @.
Hey does anyone O/C the 6770M and tested it in 3DMark 06?

How to change my signature? OK i changed it but I still got nothin'

Q2 Hey! do you know guys where can I get a GTS250M?

I found it on allegro.pl (polish ebay) for:

    47zł/3,42=~14$ LINK
the second seller does not give any warranty that the GPU card will work.. LINK to some pics of these maybe not working GPU's

    See this bull?
    This file has been DELETED

I was trying to download the modified BIOS linked by Tunay.

    Q3 I guess the newest BIOS is 3310 2009/12/14?
I downloaded the BIOS 3310 from official Acer site just to see whats in:
Q4 So can I flash the modded BIOS IN windows?
Or in DOS booting up from a pendrive?
Q5 Do I have to format the pendrive or just copy these modded bios files on it?
Q6 And i read that I have to take out every drive except the pendrive that is able to boot??? (HDD, Optical Drive)
Q7 Are my Samsung 1066 able to get to 1333?

Hey! I've found an error on Intel ARK.
    T9900 bus/core ratio=11,5*266=~3066MHz
X9100 bus/core ratio=12*266=~3192MHz NOT 3066MHz or is this CPU running default on x11,5 but max is 12? I don't get It Sorry for this massive question (Q) spam. And sorry for my horrible english. Help me out I want to see the egde of this notebook :) ^^...
