Reinstalled Windows, set up everything. Going to try it as my main laptop for now, let's see if it goes bad again.

    Where is your 5739G? :D

That sounds like a LCD failuare to me. Or maybe not that bad, a singe cable or connecter it can also be...

I do not know how the 5536G is designed, but I would try to take apart the upper panel to check if the cable from LCD is in the place. Let me know how it goes..
Ah, it can also be the LCD connecter itself which is back at the LCD and your backpanel.. That is also a single connecter but a little more hard to reach...

    Ah, Acer familiy eh? :)

If it was for the mainboard or GPU external monitor woudln't work.

It can be a bad connector for LCD at motherboard, but the you (or your girlfriend) would be really unlucky.. :)

Is that too 15,6"? If so, try the LCD panel from your 5739G, if it does work you have to deside if it is worth to buy a new panel or just buy a new laptop as those are expensive this days.. (In Norway they are).

Let me know how it goes...

I have to buy another GPU. But I do not think I'm going to. If anyone wants it as it is, let me know. This inludes everything as you see on my signature. From the upgraded WIFI card to my brand new almost unused RAM and SSD. My model aslo got blueray drive.

Hello everyone, I wanted to know how it goes the famous nvidia gts 250m, that is, is really better than a GT240M? because in theory, the 250 has double of shaders, so for those who tried, how is the 250m in overclock?

    Hi, everybody! :D

I`ve undervolded my CPu yesterday. By default, it was supplied with maximum voltage, that motherboard could provide - off course the CPU will overheat. Now the temperatures in maximum load ( stress cpu tests, games ) are 74-81. Is it possible to undervolt through BIOS or there is not such option in moded BIOS?

Hi, Nik_7! As I know - it gives additional 1k of scores in 3dmark. Not bad. But, if you want a real performace - purchase hd 6770m. Yes, it has problems with OpenGL, but, there is no much programms in our days, that yous OpenGL instead DiretX and in addition - it can be configured in RivaTuner. :)

Added: I`m trying now to overclock GPU using RIvaTuner, but, I have a problem: in menu there is no options of overclocking, monitoring and so on. There is only options on adjustments of screen frequencies and color. What can be wrong? Programms version is 2.10. I`ve tried v2.42, but nothing changed.

For nVida card, install Nvidia System Tools. That will give you overclock possibiltiy. There are tons of guides for that, if you for some reason still can't get it to work, let me know..

I`ve overclocked my GPU ( 670 \1430\920 ), but in games it heats. Frequencies are again default. I`ll wait a new thermal paste and radiators, than, the overclock will be repeated.

Can you download HWMonitor, play a game for about 30-45 min and upload a screenshot of your tempratures? Memory seems WAY to high for me. It might me that your overclock isin't stable. I can say this because I have not a single time seen overheat issue for my GPU..

Added: is there a possibility to undervolt through BIOS? modded BIOS, as I can remember, don`t have this option, right?

OK, yesterday I bought a new fan on ebay for the 5739G, I got the ADDA version(with the green label :D ), namely that in theory should get slightly better, and keep the temperatures slightly lower. But, I would have another question, the fan "ADDA", makes less noise than the SUNON that I already own? Because, the SUNON, for me, is never 100%, is always between 85 / 100%, the 'ADDA, doesn't do this joke right?

Nope. No BIOS over or undervolting.

I'm afraid ADDA does that too. Either of the fans seems to max out at 100%!

I'm currently on this, looks like l'll try SUNON once more, but it is louder.

FOR EBAY BUYERS, DO NOT GET THE ADDA FAN FROM POPULAR_ITEMS198! I got the fan with wire on wrong side, promissed refund did never come..

Well, I orderd a fan from this guy, as you see in picture everything is ok, I got the fan and guess what?! The wire is on wrong side!! I send them mail, he said he had it checked up with their `tech` guy, and it went like several weeks as they are slow to answer the mails.. Then he said he would refund me (it is about 25 USD).. It did never come...

I'm not on the money, 25 USD is nothing, but then again it irritating me..

It can be like they mass produced for another modell, then noticed that 5739G is almost the same and listed it as for it...

I really don't know, or it can be a chinese dude producing it for 1$ and selling for 25$ and hope costumers won't claim for a refund, and when they do he just ignores them... It goes like this for years..

That is nothing to worry about with our poor ACER design. What was your chipset temperature? CPU? The reason why I said screenshot was because it gives a better overall picture. 80C on GPU tells me nothing. Im usually using fat 4 to max out temperatures as it maxes out both the CPU and GPU on most laptops today available.

Epic iPhone autocorrect. I of curse ment GTA 4. There is no game such as fat 4.

Hi and welcome. I have never heard of that brand before. Try one stick at the time, if it does not work you most likely got bad ram. Go with some quality brands. But 1333MHz ram should work, just at 1066MHz.

I have already write it on ACER MXM CARDS thread:
Well i had a crazy idea.......My brother bought about a year ago a new laptop, the CLEVO P150HM with the NVIDIA 460M in it,and about 4 months ago he upgrade the GPU to an ATI 6970M and a new biger power brick (everything bought from CLEVO)to give more juice to the 6970M.Anyway he had a spare the 460M so i took it :D and i instal and his spare heatsink,on the card and i put it on my ACER 5739G and i use the power brick that came with my brothers CLEVO(they have the same 19volts and the same jack cord) but because it was a bigger card and my laptop dosent have room for it,i just insert it in the MXM slot and i left it just the way it was haging, and i dident bent it in...and i fired up the laptop and guess what...IT WORKED!!!It bout up ,and when i saw the ACER logo i said WTH  !!!!!!and it load the windows ok,and then it was start searching for drivers..but it dident find any,so i unistal my NVIDIA 240M drivers and i instal the 460m ones from the NVIDIA site but still nothing the drivers dident recognize the card.So i think that the quaddro 2000M it use the same 460M chip it propably work with my ACER 5739G,BUT am i gona find any drivers for it?Or even a moded ones?

    Heya guys

    long time nothing from me...

today, my T9900 SLGEE arrived, and of course I cant wait to test it, although my fan is kinda broken and also the heatpipe should be cleaned well (just air wont be satisfying I think)... Unfortunately the new fan didnt arrive yet so actually my plan was to wait till both fan and CPU are arrived, but I'm pretty impatient :D
I didnt disasseble my laptop, just opened the back plate, then unscrewed the heatsink, lifted it 1,5cm (that works) and with some tact i changed the cpu, applied way too much thermal paste and then I screwed it all back again...

    To make it short:
    It works :)
Man I was happy, because the CPU was delivered without antistatic bag

But, unfortunately I have a heat problem: Unsing Prime95 will cause the laptop to crash (actually it just turn off) after 3-4mins...

Do you think that I can solve the problem If I clean the heatpipe and apply my new fan? (I actually bought a Sunon, they were much cheaper and I dont spend 40$ on an ADDA)
So it isnt the T9900 problem,
isnt it? On a T6600 this would also happen with the 35W TDP...
(BTW its OFC not a E8435 or such...)

I would like to see the 460M working ;)

Disassambly your whole laptop and do it all over again.

YOU MUST DO A PROPER CLEAN BEFORE APPLYING NEW CPU AND THERMAL PASTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT ASK FOR HELP AFTER THAT METHOD, WE ALL KNOW IT ISIN'T THE RIGHT WAY FOR UPGRADE.

Actually, another used had the same issue, taking the whole laptop apart and using the right method, he reported that his problems with overheat were gone. Search for it.. I belive it is few pages back.

    yes tunay, calm down ;)

Now I'm actually running on my P7450 again...it was just for some little testing if it works... Of course I will reinstall it in a proper way again, I know you must clean the surfaces VERY well and also take the laptop apart... I did that 1 year before when I renewed the thermal paste

(I just cant wait with a T9900 laying on my desk and I dont know whether it works or not^^)

The new fan will arrive tomorrow or next week, I just didnt want to disassemble the whole laptop twice, as its always not good for the connectors inside (I disassembled it already some times and I dont want anything inside (connectors and so) broken...)

Thatswhy I installed the T9900 in this way... So I hope the overheat problem gets solved with the new fan+proper installing ;)
Till then running on P7450 again ;)

I'm sure your laptop will be able to handle the T9900. I got my laptop apart countless times, and it is still in very good condition. Just take your time, that is the golden rule :)

Hi everyone. Im new to the site. I was looking to give my laptop a little boost, and it seems that you have all done more than i thought was possible. I have a acer 5739g, with a t6600, gt130m, and 4gb ddr3 8500. What i want to do is upgrade my cpu, memory, and i didn't think i could upgrade the card, but apparently you can, so which card would be the best bang for the buck? For the cpu, i think im going to go with a t9800, found one for $166, found a t9900 for $250. and would this mem be ok? Newegg.com - Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model CT2KIT51264BF1339
Also, do i need to swap out the fan if i do the cpu upgrade, or will the stock fan be ok? Any help would be great, thanks.

hello and welcome to the forum!

basically I cant tell you anythingt about upgrading RAM, but:
-the best graphics card for this Laptop is the ATI HD6770M, the card has a clear lead over the MXM-A cards also its very well overclockable
-Yes, the best processor (if you dont want to overclock with free multiplicator) is the T9900, your price is a bit high, so I would recommend just to wait and always look, sometimes cheaper one appear...
Make sure NOT to buy E8435 (many are declared as T9900 but THEY ARENT!!), these chips are taken out from Macs and have a 55W tdp which would kill your laptop respectively your cooling system (T6600/T9900 TDP is 35W, P7450 even 25W)
Also you wanna buy SLGEE, no SLGES (these are engineering samples and may have errors) and no SLGKH (these were BGA processors, which means they originally had no pins, and the pins are added in small factories and there is no guarantee if these chips run stable in your laptop)
-->T9900 SLGEE is the one you wanna buy...
If you wanna bu the T9800, its quite the same with the pins and so, but for now I dont know the exact codes which one is the right one...search a bit, GIYF and you will find out

Fan: there are basically two types of fans built in in this laptop: an ADDA fan, it has a green sticker, and a Sunon fan with a Black sticker. They say ADDA is better, but you hardly get one, and if, they are very expensive..
My stock ADDA is broken so I ordered a Sunon, I will tell if it runs good...
But: If your fan runs normally, there is no need to change it.
BTW if you want to swap the CPU you need to disassemble your whole laptop, until you can get the Heatpipe with the fan out, they you can clean the surfaces of the die and the heatsink well and apply thermal paste
By this you can also clean your fan and the rills os the heatspreader! But make sure not to apply lots of forces on the fan, little can do damage (I damaged my by this, its got an imbalance since then)
So if your FAN runs good, no need to change it

    Hope I helped you a bit ;)

Thanks bernida, that helped quite a bit. I know i have to take apart the entire laptop, i have done that plenty of times with other laptops, so it wouldnt be anything new for me. Thanks for the warning about the fan and cpu codes.

You can get a FirePro M5950 inexpensively here. I bought a pulled one. It registered as a 6770M in my laptop. The bad thing is that it only came with GDDR3 instead of GDDR5. I am in current communications to get my problem resolved.

For RAM, go for any known brand such as Crucial, Corsair etc. You'll be good.

For the grapich card, leave the GT 130M alone if you don't do gaming or GPU demanding tasks. It is waste of money.

    iain.lightbody, I'm interested...
I thought the only way to get a 6770m was on Aliexpress, but its $215 there...

but you can get this one for $100. Pulled just means they took it out from an old laptop? Or are there differences...

BTW its the pro variant (M5950) of the 6770m, is there any difference between these both cards? I mean if you could really get an 6770m for that price, thats just great...

Please keep us up2date if they exchange yours so you get a GDDR5 one

BTW are there TDP temperature issues with 6770M? They surely have a higher TDP than my actual GT240M

    Hello, everyone! ;)

tunay, i`m sorry, I still don`t have made any tests with HVMonitor - my videocard runs with stock clocks, because I`m thinking of buying 6770m. Now I`m looking for shop in which I can buy it.

In addition I have attached new heatsinks on CPU - highest temperature now is only 81 - very good for me. :)

Pulled usually means they take it out of a working machine and they know the card is still working. As for TDP, AMD states from 25-35 watts. The only difference between the M5950 and 6770M is drivers. The M5950 is made for 3D content creation. I used drivers for the 6770M, and they work fine.

As I understand, there is version of M5950 only with GDDR3?
