Hello, people!
I have good news for you - I think there is a core 2 quad processor, that our notebook can handle. This is Q9000. Here is log file from speedfan - in addition it checks your system very deeply and finds out, which processor is supported by this notebook.
Any way, it can be mistake, because it is only my uderstanding. But, the Q9000 - this is Core 2 Quad 2.00 MHz 1066 MHz FSB 6Mb Cache with 45W TDP and PGA478 Socket ( Socket-P ).

seems legit
although i'm not gonna invest any more money on the thing (just core2duo isnt on time anymore), someone could try it out. but 45W tdp...
I really barely run my T9900 with undervolt so it doesnt shut down on overheating and then even 10W more^^ -
I think I`ll buy this processor, but not at this month. Theoretically - this Q9000 will work not so good, as mine X9100. But, this is without overclock. With overclock to 2.5-2.6 Ghz it will work very good - good preformance in programms and games
Edited: I`ve bought HD6770M GDDR5 1Gb video card. At last! Waiting it. The price is only 160 USD. -
Hoping somebody can help me with this.
I bought a 128gb Samsung 830 SSD for my 5739g and replaced the internal HDD without any issues. I then did a fresh install of Windows & Home Premium 64 bit onto the SSD (using a CD I had lying around). The install went fine, but here is where the issue presented itself...
The product key for Windows for my laptop is not being accepted. It just says: 'The Windows 7 Home Premium product key you typed is invalid for activation'.
I contacted Microsoft through their live chat and they checked my license and I got this response:
'I have checked the product key and it has already been blocked for activation. For further assistance with this you should contact Acer'
So... I contacted Acer and they just told me that there is nothing I can do as that serial number is linked to the HDD that came with the laptop and cannot be transferred...
Any suggestions/advice on what I can do? I still have the old HDD and I assume I could just create a system image/clone and install that onto the SSD? However, I read that you are generally advised to do a clean install of windows when setting up a SSD...? -

hey, today I get the 2GB 6770M but unfortunately I just mounted and i got a black screen with no video signal, but windows started regularly and you could hear the sound, but no screen ... what do you think about? I think it's faulty...
-
Thanks for the reply. I got it sorted. I created recovery DVDs using the old hard drive and reinstalled windows using them on the Ssd. Fairly slow process but it seems to have worked perfectly - windows is now officially registered.
Getting about 250mb/250mb read/write speeds using the Samsung 128gb 830 ssd. Not brilliant but not far off the best speeds people generally get using sata 2. -
I had this problem with my gt240m - I reinstalled videocard and then it worked. Also you should have latest bios. -
Its more than likely the Vbios actually. I had this with an old 5920g. If your brave, blind flash it. But I thought the 2GB were from an Apple Mac. If so then it wont ever work in this laptop. Sell it on and get a 1GB. Also, want a quad core !!! Test it. Now.
Anyone know if the 5739g can cope with a better display? Think its something to do with the pinout on the motherboard. But don't have any of that info. LDVS or Dual LDVS or something. -
-
EDIT: I tried the 6770M also on another 5739G with original bios and almost new, and also that didn't work, it's surely the video card is faulty. -
Its the video cards own bios that is the problem. Only two ways to correct it. Get it in to the machine it came out of, or blind flash (no screen in 5739g) Should be able to get the right bios from the internets.
And no, I don't have a quad core. But I read earlier in this thread that it has been tried. The laptops bios wont allow the q9000. So no way we can get a quad core in this machine I am afraid. -

There are some news about my 6770m, the seller has received the video card but he says that card is working and has been tested...What should i do?Is better to be refund?Alternatively, someone have any link of a certainly working 6770m to buy?

So anyone know how to flash a 6770m bios with a black screen?

My card is red also. If you search for VBIOS it should be there on Techpowerup or somewhere similar if I remember correctly. I will try to find the link to the correct file. Blind flashing is dangerous to say the least. But if you watch the lights flashing you should be ok.
-
Also, some users here bought this red card from this site - it was corrupted. -
-
Mine came from China...the website was Aliexpress. There is only one seller...which isn't the same as I bought from, offering this card found here.
Cheaper than mine as well...mine was $215. But was delivered DHL to the UK within 4 working days. -

I can't possibly say if its the same. You either have to trust them, or take comfort in the way aliexpress works. They don't see your money until you reply with good feedback.
Or wait on eBay or until one of us gets bored of this laptop and upgrades.

ok, i think that aliexpress it's a serious shop, actually the seller confirms that his 6770m works with our notebook and plus the video card is red then i think i'll take on of his card...
-
God damn it... -_- My video card is delivering from Riga to Ventspils (distance 200km) already 3 days... -_-
-
Today I received my refund, this evening I'll order the 6770M from aliexpress with dhl then should reach me within 4 days, hopefully good ... I was also considering whether to change notebooks but looking in the shops all I see are so powerful notebooks with good cpu and ram but with some video cards that would be thrown away...So I was thinking to keep alive the 5739G still up to the commercialization of the new intel cpu next year, then change it with something new and more powerful.

I`ve received video card. Yep, it is not showing anything - I can hear loading Windows. The seller told me, that they testes this card on Acer notebook and can be compability issues - need to update BIOS. I`ve updated BIOS to v3310 but nothing changed. I`m thinking of flashing a BIOS of video card or return the video card.
-
-
On startup, the BIOS initializes the video card:
Initialize the GPU
Detect number of memory chips, chip size, access mode
Enable memory access and set proper timings
Detect if external devices (analog VGA, DVI, TV-out) are connected and enable them
Set core and memory clock
Enable power management
Set fan speed (if supported by the board)
After these tasks are completed, the display will turn on and display what's happening next - usually the motherboard's POST screen.
As I understand - first two steps are not executed. Of course I could flash the VBIOS, but I don`t know if seller will accept this video card back with refund and changed bios. Waiting his answer. -
It most certainly will be the Vbios. Flashing it is easy when you have done it before. Or you need to send it back.
-
Also, I`ll flash using blind flash. Could you tell me the process? -
I would wait for my bios which is an Acer BIOS. That should work better than a dell one. I have uploaded it to tech power up but is being verified or something. If you Google it you will find many step by steps.
Either way you can flash both and try it. I will suggest you get a pen drive that flashes. So you know if it is being accessed. That will let you know not to turn it off or whatever. My card came with the Acer bios by the way.
