Hello, people!
I have good news for you - I think there is a core 2 quad processor, that our notebook can handle. This is Q9000. Here is log file from speedfan - in addition it checks your system very deeply and finds out, which processor is supported by this notebook.
Any way, it can be mistake, because it is only my uderstanding. But, the Q9000 - this is Core 2 Quad 2.00 MHz 1066 MHz FSB 6Mb Cache with 45W TDP and PGA478 Socket ( Socket-P ).

seems legit
although i'm not gonna invest any more money on the thing (just core2duo isnt on time anymore), someone could try it out. but 45W tdp...
I really barely run my T9900 with undervolt so it doesnt shut down on overheating and then even 10W more^^ -
My X9100 has 45W TDP too and without undervolting it is not good processors in the mining of overheating. Even now, with arctic silver 5, cooling plate and cooling radiators its temperature rises up to 89 C.
I think I`ll buy this processor, but not at this month. Theoretically - this Q9000 will work not so good, as mine X9100. But, this is without overclock. With overclock to 2.5-2.6 Ghz it will work very good - good preformance in programms and games
Edited: I`ve bought HD6770M GDDR5 1Gb video card. At last! Waiting it. The price is only 160 USD. -
Hoping somebody can help me with this.
I bought a 128gb Samsung 830 SSD for my 5739g and replaced the internal HDD without any issues. I then did a fresh install of Windows & Home Premium 64 bit onto the SSD (using a CD I had lying around). The install went fine, but here is where the issue presented itself...
The product key for Windows for my laptop is not being accepted. It just says: 'The Windows 7 Home Premium product key you typed is invalid for activation'.
I contacted Microsoft through their live chat and they checked my license and I got this response:
'I have checked the product key and it has already been blocked for activation. For further assistance with this you should contact Acer'
So... I contacted Acer and they just told me that there is nothing I can do as that serial number is linked to the HDD that came with the laptop and cannot be transferred...
Any suggestions/advice on what I can do? I still have the old HDD and I assume I could just create a system image/clone and install that onto the SSD? However, I read that you are generally advised to do a clean install of windows when setting up a SSD...? -
This is OEM license of Windows - it has hardware block. That is - if you change any part of your notebook, you will not be able to use this key again. Only if you install back original HDD - the key will be usable again.
-
hey, today I get the 2GB 6770M but unfortunately I just mounted and i got a black screen with no video signal, but windows started regularly and you could hear the sound, but no screen ... what do you think about? I think it's faulty...
-
Thanks for the reply. I got it sorted. I created recovery DVDs using the old hard drive and reinstalled windows using them on the Ssd. Fairly slow process but it seems to have worked perfectly - windows is now officially registered.
Getting about 250mb/250mb read/write speeds using the Samsung 128gb 830 ssd. Not brilliant but not far off the best speeds people generally get using sata 2. -
What?! 2GB Videocard? O_O
I had this problem with my gt240m - I reinstalled videocard and then it worked. Also you should have latest bios. -
Its more than likely the Vbios actually. I had this with an old 5920g. If your brave, blind flash it. But I thought the 2GB were from an Apple Mac. If so then it wont ever work in this laptop. Sell it on and get a 1GB. Also, want a quad core !!! Test it. Now.
Anyone know if the 5739g can cope with a better display? Think its something to do with the pinout on the motherboard. But don't have any of that info. LDVS or Dual LDVS or something.
-
You have a quad core? Wich you have bought? O_O
-
No, I don't think it was take from a mac because the mac 6770M have a totally different design (look at the screenshoot), rather I think is faulty. The seller said it was compatible with Acer Aspire 8935 8920 5739G 5935G 7738G 9800 9500 Acer and the design of the PCB is the same as what you can find on alibaba, or at least I think, so it should be 100% compatible. (My card is the green one)
EDIT: I tried the 6770M also on another 5739G with original bios and almost new, and also that didn't work, it's surely the video card is faulty. -
Its the video cards own bios that is the problem. Only two ways to correct it. Get it in to the machine it came out of, or blind flash (no screen in 5739g) Should be able to get the right bios from the internets.
And no, I don't have a quad core. But I read earlier in this thread that it has been tried. The laptops bios wont allow the q9000. So no way we can get a quad core in this machine I am afraid. -
Ok, so what do you think is better to do?, to tell the truth I have no idea how to flash an amd bios with a black screen ... Do you think it's better to send it back?
-
Here is the link.
-
I have bought and used the 6770M before, my card had red colored PCB. The green one is probably from MAC. Im not sure on that. But the red colored one is the one you want
-
I`ve bought this one card. Waiting for it now. But this is not for the MAC.
-
No, i don't think that the green one is for mac, the majority of 6770m that you can find on ebay and alibaba are the green one and the sellers confirm that it work with a lot of pc with mxm slot, like acer asus dell...then i think the green one is correct for our notebook, also i have posted 2 post ago some photos of my 6770m and the 6770m of the Mac, take a look and correct me if i'm wrong:thumbsup:
So you have bought a 6770m with the green pcb i'm right? If you bought the green one can you confirm that this card is the right for our notebook? Thanks
-
Not yet.
I`ve not received it yet. When I`ll receive it - I`ll tell you if it worked or not.
-
Ok, but tomorrow i send it back my card, the seller is Italian so it will receive the card in 1 day after i send it back...by the way, where did you get your 6770M?
-
In ebay, item shippedfrom Shenzhen, China.
-
Thanks, can you post a link, because a can't find the page i'm curious because i want compare my and your card...the seller of my 6770m say that every video card shipped from their are tested but i don't think that my video card is working for me is faulty...
-
Here you are.
-
Thanks, however your card is exactly as my the only difference is the amount of memory(unless the seller was wrong), even the memory chips are the same.
-
There are some news about my 6770m, the seller has received the video card but he says that card is working and has been tested...What should i do?Is better to be refund?Alternatively, someone have any link of a certainly working 6770m to buy?
-
Interesting. I`ll receive my card in few days. When I`ll test it - I`ll write about it. The link I`ve sent you earlier.
-
Yes, but unfortunately your seller doesn't ship to italy... but i'm curious to see if your card work correctly
-
I hope that it will be working. )))
-
So anyone know how to flash a 6770m bios with a black screen?
-
-
Thanks, but i can't find any 6770m bios online...where can i find the right bios for this card?
-
Here is another one HD6770M. There is shown 5739 aspire.
-
Thanks, probably after i get my refund, i'm goinfg to buy this 6770m, i saw that is the red one, and according to akbisw this card is the only one working on our notebook right?
-
My card is red also. If you search for VBIOS it should be there on Techpowerup or somewhere similar if I remember correctly. I will try to find the link to the correct file. Blind flashing is dangerous to say the least. But if you watch the lights flashing you should be ok.
-
I saw one user, that had the green one and it workedi if I`m not wrong. Can`t remember nickname.
Also, some users here bought this red card from this site - it was corrupted. -
ok thanks, where did you bought your graphics card?
Oh, then neither the red one is always working? -
Mine came from China...the website was Aliexpress. There is only one seller...which isn't the same as I bought from, offering this card found here.
Cheaper than mine as well...mine was $215. But was delivered DHL to the UK within 4 working days. -
Ok, but can you confirm that this card is exactly like yours, for example can you confirm me if the card on aliexpress has got the same memory chips like yours?
-
There is always a risk, when you are buying a videocard. In the image it can be the same, but they can have a different bios versions.
-
Yes, but more similar is better, at least there is some chance it works...
-
I can't possibly say if its the same. You either have to trust them, or take comfort in the way aliexpress works. They don't see your money until you reply with good feedback.
Or wait on eBay or until one of us gets bored of this laptop and upgrades.

ok, i think that aliexpress it's a serious shop, actually the seller confirms that his 6770m works with our notebook and plus the video card is red then i think i'll take on of his card...
-
God damn it... -_- My video card is delivering from Riga to Ventspils (distance 200km) already 3 days... -_-
-
hmmm, strange that you don't have yet reached the 6770
Today I received my refund, this evening I'll order the 6770M from aliexpress with dhl then should reach me within 4 days, hopefully good ... I was also considering whether to change notebooks but looking in the shops all I see are so powerful notebooks with good cpu and ram but with some video cards that would be thrown away...So I was thinking to keep alive the 5739G still up to the commercialization of the new intel cpu next year, then change it with something new and more powerful
.
-
I`ve received video card. Yep, it is not showing anything - I can hear loading Windows. The seller told me, that they testes this card on Acer notebook and can be compability issues - need to update BIOS. I`ve updated BIOS to v3310 but nothing changed. I`m thinking of flashing a BIOS of video card or return the video card.
-
Mmm, seem that our notebook only accept the red 6770m...strange anyway i've ordered the red 6770m yesterday night with dhl it should reach me in 5/6 days.
-
If you compare the images of PCB of red and green cards - they are identical. The only difference is on SMD capacitators - the red one has big SMD capacitators, and the green one has the group of SMD capacitators. In summ the capacitance is equal. Thus - this is the VBIOS issue.
On startup, the BIOS initializes the video card:
Initialize the GPU
Detect number of memory chips, chip size, access mode
Enable memory access and set proper timings
Detect if external devices (analog VGA, DVI, TV-out) are connected and enable them
Set core and memory clock
Enable power management
Set fan speed (if supported by the board)
After these tasks are completed, the display will turn on and display what's happening next - usually the motherboard's POST screen.
As I understand - first two steps are not executed. Of course I could flash the VBIOS, but I don`t know if seller will accept this video card back with refund and changed bios. Waiting his answer. -
It most certainly will be the Vbios. Flashing it is easy when you have done it before. Or you need to send it back.
-
I`ve never done it before. Only with BIOS of my notebook. I`ve created a USB stick with MS-DOS, prepared this bios for video card. I`m waiting a replay from seller.
Also, I`ll flash using blind flash. Could you tell me the process? -
I would wait for my bios which is an Acer BIOS. That should work better than a dell one. I have uploaded it to tech power up but is being verified or something. If you Google it you will find many step by steps.
Either way you can flash both and try it. I will suggest you get a pen drive that flashes. So you know if it is being accessed. That will let you know not to turn it off or whatever. My card came with the Acer bios by the way.
