Pen-drive as in thumb-drive, USB memory stick, flash drive ;)
There are different names used for that in different countries.

Pen drive USB stick all the same thing. And I can do a little later on. Not currently around my laptop.

it could be useful to me if my 6770m doesn't work...anyway i think it's almost impossible to flash a bios without a video signal, then how can you type in without a screen??

You just have to be familiar with the way dos works and the method. It can be done. I have done it before. Easier if you name the file something short and simple.

It is to be honest. Awesome. It handles most games easily on medium settings. And that's standard clocks. It will be a total different animal to what you have now.

Strange... Using atiflash utility I`ve tried to save original BIOS of my hd6770m using blind flash method. I`ve tipped "atiflash -s -reboot 0 original.rom" After that I`ve installed original GT240M in the notebook, loaded the system and what I see in the USB drive - original.rom is 0 bytes. How? Can it be that this card even don`t have a BIOS installed? o_O

It means that the bios probably got corrupted when it was flashed. Probably by the seller.
Or the card really is broken and did have any power to the bios chip.

It wasn`t even tested as I can see, because on the mounting holes there were no damaged tin seals. When I screwed screws - tin seals damaged as they should. I think that card is working, but, it has different BIOS. When you be able to upload yours BIOS? :)

After flashing bios with Avora posted I`ve tried to backup new BIOS. It is 0 bytes again. Thus, the videocard is corrupted... I`ll try to send it back.

I`ve shipped it back to China. Waiting for results for now.

In these days, I thought, the X9100 could be bottleneck for the 6770M? What do you say? Ideally, the X9100 should be identical at Intel Core 2 E8400(except for the fsb) and the 6770M is a desktop 6670, it should be fine I think ...

Do you meen does the X9100 will be capable to work with this card? Yes, it will. I saw in signatures of some users, that they use less powerfull CPUs with 6770m.

No idea. No one knows. Just download the whql drivers. If you Google catalyst mobility drivers it should be around somewhere. Won't be seen by the amd auto down loader.

Nik 7 - can you show, how much your card consume power? GT240M only 23W. The M5950 and 6770M in some sources consummes ~30W. This is interesting - maybe this is reason, why my 6770M was not working in my laptop.

If you have the 90w power supply then its not power. You could well have had the lower 65w 3amp power brick. That would cause the problems.

I don't know why, but when i overclock the gpu with msi afterburner on the screen i can see some black bars, then i restart and everything is ok, but the strange things is that this stuff appears only when i'm in windows, if i'm gaming and i have the overclock profile there are no problems...why?

Ok, never mind, however after some hours of gaming with a lot of games i could say that our Intel C2D X9100 is bottlenecking the 6770m...The only game who go almost perfectly is battlefield 3 i can run it on high with all filter activated at 30/35 fps...but games like crysis 2 need some boost improvement, 3 ghz are too little. I think that it would take at least 3.6 ghz to run crysis without lag but there's a big problem, our laptop has got a bad cooling system and i've ordered 2 heat pipes, because I want try to add the 2 heat pipes other the single pipe already present. At this point I have 3 heat pipe on the cpu and in theory should be enough to bring it to 3.6/3.7 ghz... :D

Unless loaded PCI-e will be at 1.1 to save power. Click the test button next to it to create the rendering screen and then look.

Ahh, if I hover over it, it says running in 1.1. That GPU-Z 0.6.4.
I'd do this cooling mod if some one can prove it is worth the effort. Keep up the good work

Great video, but i think is a bit too invasive, I wanted to make a mod that did not compromise the portability of the computer and at the same time would increase the cooling capacity. In any case I think that three heat pipes are more than sufficient for overclock, not forget that the alienware usually use 2 pipes though maybe longer ... However, I was wondering, do you think it's possible to solder in any way the heat pipe with normal welder household?

You can buy glue which acts like thermal paste but bonds, just like solder. Wouldn't need anything but that to apply it. I have never used it though.

exactly. and its the only way to fit the heatpipe together with any copper tube mod.
You cannot solder to the heatpipe with your household soldering iron, because the heat would spread instantly, leading to a cold soldering iron, but no stable connection.
Only way would be to hard solder it (silver soldering), but:
1)the connection between the heatpipe and heatspreader (the one that attaches directly to the cpu die) is also glued, and the heat would propably destroy this connection (also for the connection between copper rills and heatpipe)
    2) idk if this would lead the heatpipe to explode, I dont think a heat pipe can sustain 600-700°C

I actually thought that you can use 1/8" (3,175mm) O/D copper tubing on the CPU heatpipe. there is enough space on the heatpipe to hold 2 tubes in parallel. Unfortunately, I think there is no space to do this to the GPU pipe....
(Now finally I found a picture of the heatpipe and) With my l33t hex0r paint skillz I try to show you my idea:
    um3HT.jpg

The only problem would be the 180° fitting. I am still trying to figure out a way to solve this, as you cannot bend the pipe this way

Nice, i have some ideas about how attach the heat pipes on the cpu, however this is the minor problem, in fact the only way to bend the heat pipe is bringing to 180 ° C but then it will be difficult to handle ... in any case, the heat pipe that I ordered, are bent in a similar way as are bent on our laptops (coming from another notebook but they are new), with some modifications I should be able to adapt and then assemble all without decrease the portability. :D
Soon I will show you my idea, but for the moment I prefer to stay thinking about some other trick XD

Just remember that heat-pipes are not empty and you need the liquid to still be there so make sure not to crack it in any way while bending and fitting otherwise there will bw nothing in them to vapor/condense.

Other than the bending problem. I think we need fins to actually move the heat off the pipe. If we could get it integrated in to the existing fins then the cooling would surely greatly benefit. I would rather put another pipe directly on top of the pipe already there.

I want to let you know that the bios taken with gpuz of the 6770M will be all not working ... I do not know why but trying to edit the bios with radeon bios editor I discovered that the bios extracted with gpuz and TRIXX is not working, so unfortunately I don't know how to extract the VBIOS, any ideas?

--EDIT--I warn you that the heat pipes has arrived and that the work for fitting have started, by tomorrow i'll post some pictures with the results and a little diagram...stay tuned :D :D

atiflash or winatiflash can save the full vbios. Winatiflash also can show flash type.
    I test 3 diferent card - 4670 acer , 6750 - aple, 6770 - hp.
6700 hawe 2 diferent dezign: 1 - master card (only one card in system) 2 - secondary card first us intel integrate.
2 example dont hawe own vbios - vbios maybe a part of mainboard bios.
I hawe 2 example and want to add vbios on it to work as master on my acer5739.
The green card that pictured there dont hawe own bios.

Hey guys I got this laptop used and I have a few problems( purely cosmetic)
    1. There's a ton of dust in the speakers, how can I get it out?
    2. While cleaning the area to the left of the touchpad with water, the paint started to fade, and now it looks really ugly, what can I do?
