    Hi.
yesterday i installed in my Acer 5739g- Firepro M4000 with Amd 7700 drivers., yet very satisfied. GPU temperature under load does not rise above 76 degrees, in idle state: 54 degrees. In 3dMark 06 received 12835 points.

I only put the thermal paste Cooler Master (which comes with a CPU Cooler for desktop PC)., not yet put Thermo pads

Don`t forget, that RAM chips and condensers have to be cooled too. ;)

Damn, I think I have to buy T9900 E0 or X9100 E0. My temps in summer goes up to 90C. -_-

Mine X9100 C0 without undervolting and Fan control always goes up to 105 C, than shutting down the laptop. ))) I`ve never overclocked it, so, I think, I`ll buy T9900 E0 or X9100 QHBQ (E0 too)... This QHBQ is overclockable too and has thermal dissipation as T9900 E0 has.

In my opinion, our system in not provided to cooling cpu with tdp 45w., t9900 cpu is ideal for this machine, both by temperature and performance.
Another question, if you tried to install the MacOS on our model 5739? I have long been trying to install Mac 10.8 - 10.9.3 but nothing turns.

Yeah, T9900 is very good CPU for our laptop, but I want more to draw more power my system - overclock the CPU and install SSD. Upgrades with X9100 QHBQ and 128Gb SSD shall be the last, I think. Maybe I`ll install than the fan from MSI that triturbo recommended. But this is only maybe.

MacOS on Acer? o_O For which purpose? No, I`ve never tried to install MacOS on my laptop. I`ve never even have had such thoughts. :D

120GB SSD is a little less., Recommend 256GB.,personally have not noticed a huge difference in changing ssd's., except Windows startup., starts of the programs., and internal-ssd copy/move/open files.

    at the moment my configuration is: Cpu: T9900 + FirePro M4000 + Ram Crucial 8gb 1066mhz + SSD Kingston HyperX 120gb(intsaled in SATA0) + HDD 500gb Seagate 7200rpm SATA1 ( installed in place of DVD-rom)

Very good configuration you have! ;)

For my use, 120 Gb SSD will be enough, I think. All programs and docs are stored on second partition. Primary partition is 60 or 90 Gb, I don`t remember now. :D

I would rather choose something with real-world performance, like Crucial (M4, M500, M550, the new MX100). From what I've seen Samsungs are just benchmark queens and that's it.

I'd recommend the best value for performance rather than the fastest drive. These laptops can't take advantage of the fastest due to the sata speed, save them for your desktops. I have an OCZ agility 3 in my laptop and it's plenty fast enough. Don't forget that input output is just as important as outright speed. In my other acer I have Kingston V300. Which I highly recommend as a budget ssd. My desktop has a hyperx and it really does fly.

Just the standard extremely hot version. Most of the time I have it underclocked. It still gets warmer than I would like.

Which temps do you have on idle and on full load? Try to use AcFanControl with my settings - it really helps even CPU not being underclocked.

I have acfan on. I am still testing undervolt settings. So to use daily I have underclocked profiles to ensure it works reliably. At standard clocks and voltages it shutdown fairly quickly. As such I haven't really stress tested yet.

My X9100 is working great on 1.087V - on long full loads there are no BSODs or something else due to low voltage provided to processor.

I don't care about sequential speed either, it tops at ~240MB/s. What matters is random access (the newer the drives, the better) and how it handles the real world tasks as well as reliability (pretty important!). I would rather pay a few bucks more for a reliable drive (Crucial, Intel). It's not like I'm buying new SSD every year.

My X9100 is currently at 1.125v...lower than this I had one blue screen. I haven't tried this again yet. For now I have a problem with ACfancontrol. It works fine up until it hands the control back to BIOS, at around 90 degrees c or so. The fan then does some strange pulsing. Is there a way to keep ac fan in control regardless? I've looked at the ini files, I have yours Propolkin but I am getting lost.

In .ini file search the line called SmartModeExit=92. Change value 92 to whatever you like. Save and restart ACFanControl. Don`t forget, that junction temperature of X9100 is 105C.

I left this setting with 92C just to indicate, that my CPU is overheating and I should let the laptop to cool down for some minutes. For example, when I`m playing Warthunder.

    Hey propolkin,

A little off topic, but I could not send you a PM and wasn't sure the best way to ask you this. I noticed that your signature says that you are running an AMD FirePro M4000 with 7770M drivers. Could you tell me a bit about that? Did you have to use some kind of modded drivers or just download the latest 7770M drivers from amd.com? Do you find that you get better performance out of the 7770M drivers than than the Firepro M4000 drivers? Thanks for any response. I saw your signature and was very curious.

    Thanks!

    Hello! ;)

I have just downloaded drivers for 7700M series from amd.com, when my firepro was installed in laptop. Other drivers were not able to be installed, I don`t know whe - nor drivers from amd.com for FirePro series, nor from Dell, nor from HP.

I would like to buy 8940G too. because of it`s capabilities of being highly modded. With some modes card MXM III Type B can be installed in it too.

Guys, yesterday I`ve tried to overclock the GPU. It was overclocked to 750MHz Core and 1300MHz VRAM. Running Furmark and 3dMark06 I`ve not gained any performance boosts. In games, such as Stalker Lost Alpha, Warthunder, Dark Souls 2 the FPS was the same, as before overclock. Sometimes FPS even dropped to some 1-5 points. o_O What the hell? I`ve overclocked the GPU using MSI Afterburner.

Did it accepted the change? What values GPU-Z reports? And the most important question - what power brick are you using? 90W is WAY underpowered, even 120W would be going over the limit with your current setup. You should be looking at 150W just to stay on the safe side.

Oh damn, I forgot about power break. I`m using stock 90W adapter. GPU-Z shown changed frequencies. I`ve not searched enough maybe, but I`ve not seen other adapters for 5739G with other ratings, than 90W. yeah, I can buy adapter from another laptop and adopt it for use with 5739G. But does the motherboard can handle such power?...

It's definitely a power issue. I'm using 120W :) Also it depends on the board/BIOS, but there could be limitation choking the system at certain amount of Watts. 5920G doesn't has such thing, but may be different for you. Buy one and give it a try - CM 120W (it's universal). Also get yourself a power meter, this way you can check actually how much you are pulling off the wall :)

I hope that my hands will reach that type of upgrade, when I`ll have additional money for my laptop. :D But, I think, I`ll be fine with changing current SLB48 X9100 to QHBQ and installing SSD. And that`s enough. I think. Maybe. I don`t know. :D I like so much upgrade process of exactly this laptop, so I just can`t stop, when I have additional money. But, that laptop is getting old. :( At next year, I think it will be a time to buy a new one. With upgrade possibilities, including GPU and CPU upgrades.

And I don`t think that I`ll find laptop with more comfortable design for me, than 5739G has. :( The only laptop, that come in my mind that can make fully satisfied with it - this is 8940G (as I`ve told and dreamed so many times :D ). But even now it is really expensive thing.

At least you have the MXM-A slot, which gives you some hopes for the future. Also you can try to get QX9300 working*, but you MUST (!!!) upgrade at least the fan of your system.

*This is a guide for PM965, yours is PM45, so maybe it would take fewer modifications in order to run.

8940G is a nice machine, but severely handicapped by its cooling. I mean, it's probably OK @stock config, but if you go XM and MXM-B (there is room, no obstacles) it would melt! The saddest part is, from the pictures I looked at, there is no room for improvement :( Of course, in person and with its parts all over the table there's a chance that something could be done, but I wont risk and spend money on it.

I've took a look at your schematics, and it seems that you have to do most of the stuff, without the FSB related ones. Also, just to warn you - you must look for QAVR, nothing else. The rest either lack thermal sensors or are C0 (runs WAY hotter), or both :D Since it has never been released and all of the versions come with unlocked multiplier, I think it's fair to call it QX9200 :)

I just got my new fittings, so I'll let you know what is the effect of combined cooling. I don't expect miracles to be honest, just 4GHz stable :) What I mean with this - there probably would be some improvement, but it also means that your (probably) fully tuned 8940G would have to seat on the desk. If so, you'll be much better with a desktop.

For one hand- yes, as a desktop. For another, in case of traveling or working not in office I can turn on power saving management and downclock the CPU in 8940G - it will not overheat.))) i`m using my 5739G sometimes as desktop replacement in my job - when I need plenty of perfromance, I just take my notebook cooler pad with myself (sorry for that sentence, don`t know, how to tell correctly :D). )

Damn! There have been no such summer, when my laptop could be overheated. Now, playing dark souls 2 on stock clocks and downvolted CPU - my laptop overheats after 15 min of playing. :D God damn, CPU reaches 87 and GPU 85 :D . in my flat we have now 30C and on the street there is 32-35C. Here, in Latvia. DAMN! :D

I may be a little confused here but is this the M4000 I'm looking for?:
    For DELL Precision M4000 AMD 216 0834044 1GB MXM 3.0 DDR5 VGA /video card Chelsea XT 0PR80C PR80C Graphics Card-in Graphics Cards from Electronics on Aliexpress.com

It appears to be the right card but the name is throwing me off!
    Thanks for the help!

Just ordered my T9900! I need my m4000 next :p

Oh and for RAM I can go with a higher speed one like 1333 safely? Our laptops can safely nerf it to 1066 right? I've found cheaper name brand sticks of 1333 than 1066, go figure lol.

Yeah, that`s M4000 you are looking for. Usual PR80-C.

Yes, you can use 1333MHz ram, it will be downclocked by chipset. But don`t forget, that you have to use ram with proper form factor, timings and so on. Not every ram will work.

I'm assuming if it comes with the bracket on, I can remove with a heatgun/blow dryer?

Any recommendations on RAM, I want yo get it right the first time.
    I found: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...pl=item_page.content1&rrstr=ClickCP&rrindex=1

Yes, you can just remove it using heat gun. The second link with RAM - buy this.

maybe it is good for you, that you`ve bought one of new acers. :) Personally - I don`t like them. But of course - you don`t have to use your "lovelly" notebook for all of your life, aren`t you? :D so, I think this is reaally good, that you`ve bought new acer, not another 89XXG or 5XXXG Acer)))

Hahaha! Way to rub that in! Haha.

I really am going to miss this laptop, first big purchase I ever made(23yr now)... Though I know the gf is gunna probably be a wife so its not going anywhere! Plus I promised her I'd keep modding it so she can game too. Plus I can always make her take the v3 instead, and I keep the 5739g :D

But on a serious note, whats a decent "Fast"(500G) HDD for this laptop someone can recommend? I know SSD is the way to go but I really need the space.
