Just wanted to let you know, I just orderd parts for my ACER.
1 x Subwoofer
1 x Module Thermal for M96
1 x Cover Middle with MMB/FFC
1 x Speaker L&R
![]()
Next thing I'm going to order is a new bottom cover, I'm going to mod my current one so I can see if I can get lower tempratures. And if it goes bad, I have a backup cover. Currently, my tempratures are lower (about 10-15C) (OVERCLOCK!) without any bottom cover. Airflow with is not good, so, I'm going come up with something, just don't know what, yet.
-
link to where you got the sub, please
-
Yep with cover off my temps drop 5 degrees. Face palm!
-
Lol only 5C? Mine is even more, but as I said earlier I suspect my heatsink have leaked a bit out. New is on order still not received my parts...
Mimino, I got my parts from Zanda Part, search on google. It is a Sweedish company that sells spare parts to Acer, Asus and emachines. It takes some time to receive parts because they have to order the parts from another place I think. They don't stock parts. -
hey guys
just searching around the internet im really glad i found this thread and i have some general questions about the 5739g
so i got the laptop with the p7450 proc and the nvidia gt240m gpu and i wondered about how upgrading stuff works. maybe a general thing: im not interested in OCing anything (maybe not yet), so i dont need bios changes (or do i?)
1. proc replacement: is it possible to replace the p7450 with a t9900 without doing anything else? do i need a new PSU (currently having the one 19V 4,74A) and are there other TDP probs? so my p7450 gets up to 80-85°C after 45mins under prime95 and rthdribl (for gpu stress-gpu gets only 65°C max)) and i really clean my fan and the cooling ribs often and i also applied new thermal compound some months ago, so arent the temps a bit high? are there going to be probs with the t9900?
1.5 Just measured the output of my PSU and it has 19,3V instead of 19V is this a problem???
2. gpu replacement: even if i dont really know where to get a mxm a type graphics card, by reading the thread i assume the 6770m is the most powerful card for the 5739g? whats with that? are there problems with the TDP and the power supply of the card, does the card need more power? (same thing like the proc question)
3. the fan of my laptop is a bit damaged so it causes some vibration which is quite annoying when in quiet situations so i want to buy a new fan or a new thermal, i found out you can buy the fan only on ebay but on zandparts you can buy complete thermal modules... there are 2 types, the N10P (nvidia gpu?) and M96 (ATI?) [dunno what UMA is]. wheres the difference? do i need the M96 when installing the 6770M or can i just buy the fan only and install the new 6770M on my N10P (my current gt240m)?
4. how do you guys place a 3rd antenna? where do you connect it? my wlan card only has 2 ports....
5. as i can see on tunays signature, you are using 8gb ram, so i assume this does work without probs? (because in the service manual they say 4gb max)
really thanks for helping

1. LOL. I purchased a 55 watt processor called E8435(T9900), but the cooling it required pissed me off so I went ahead and bought a T9600. You dont need to do anything else besides putting the thermal paste again. Powersupply is good enough since the TDM of all T series CPU is 35 watts.
2. You need MXM A 3.0. 6770m is the fastest one available and the highest temp I reached was 72 with that card. the the bottom cover off 68.
3. I bought two fans with heatsink from PCHUB it was 25 bucks shipped from Singapore as far as I remember. Both fans are perfect. I bought a different brand fan cause I hate ADDA, the stock fan my acer came with, its the ty fan, started vibrating like you said.
4.you need to get intel 5300agn wifi card with antenna from ebay, dissemble the lcd panel and add the antenna in. I dont think it would make that much of a difference, but I still want it.
5. 8gb ram not a problem, 4gb was stock. but overclocking the Ram is more desirable.
Correct me if Im wrong Tunay or Meaker or CROSSFIRE_GT -
Hello and welcome!
1. Those tempratures, I woudl say a bit high for a P7450. But not in dangerzone. You don't need to do anything else basically, just upgrade the CPU.
1.5 Your PSU will be fine.
2. You can search on ebay for MXM cards.
3. I bought a new heatsink as mine is, I suspect leaking couse my temprautres are much much higher then what it used to be. And my thermal heatsink have some marks on it. I orderd from Zanda, got shipped yesterday, it will arive next week I think I'll let you know the result. The diffrence between them is for chipset, nothing with GPU to do. I asked about this actually, and David, from ZandaPart asked it further to Acer and ended up with they are made for diffrent chipsets.
4. I replaced my WIFI card with a Intel 6300. That model has 3 connections, and, my 3th antenna is placed actually just under my LCD (just behind the Acer logo on LCD bazel).
5. Yes, 8GB RAM works fine. And don't belive those service manuals, I bet even the most 'noob' user here on NBR knows more then Acer. -
well, thanks tunay and akbisw for the fast reply
the n10p m96 issue wont get outside my mind.... just searched around and indeed it has something to do with the graphics card, just look around the two links and scroll to "Codename", both are cards shipped with the 5739g, so theres a bit of controversy to tunays statement
GT 240M
HD4650
so now im really interested in this... maybe we should take pictures and then compare..
another question: i just wondered if it was possible to upgrade my laptop with the dvb-t tv tuner.... any1 got an idea if it is possible and when yes where to get the antenna jack and wire from?
greetz and gn8
PS: with what program you read the temps? for gpu i use gpuz and for cpu coretemp, because coretemp is the only one which gives me accurrate readings...bizarrely all other progs (everest, speccy, ...) give me 10°C more, but i think this is a bug because then i would have 50-55 idle and over 90 under load -

I actually have a selection of MXM cards I need to shift atm lol:
HD6770M
HD5730M
HD4650 (DDR3)
GT240M
As you can see they provide the full range of MXM type A performance ^-^
Can't list prices and such here, but feel free to email me. -
well, thanks meaker, ill pm you if i'm interested
is the 6770M the last and best card? or is there gonna be support for the 7000s series?
whats with the tv tuner and the temp thing, any1 else? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
There temperatures can be due to bad detection of the Tjunc.
Temp = Tjunc - sensor reading.
MXM-A seems to be dying out, the 6770M is the only one in the series to be released as an MXM-A card, the last nvidia one was the GTS250M (GT425M was in an asrock media centre but thats it).
So I don't know if there will be more.
6770M has a clear lead over all the other MXM-A cards and is a class above them. -
There has to be support for MXM A, its so much smaller and more efficient than a GIANT Type B card. Come on AMD, also add cpu computing like CUDA then I will never have to buy another laptop!!
for another 2 years -
Hello, do you know if the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9100 works on our laptop?
-
No quad support. Tunay couldnt get it to work, probably an acer issue. the motherboard spec says it can handle a quad.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Only acer to accept a quad was the 7738G.
-
Ok
. So in your opinion, what is better between e8435 and T9900? But above all, which of the two is better in overclocking?
-
DONT ever go for E8435. IT has a TDM of 55 watts vs 35 watts of T9900. Without even overclocking it will melt through your mainboard(exaggeration).
T9900 you can probably push it to 3.5 or close to 4. -
Tunay, do u mind giving me a thorough guide on how to overclock? btw T9600 is a very good boy, it underclocks close to 1.0v and still doesnt freeze

where do u lower the timings? in bios? theres no option.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Look on the xtreme systems forums for a program called memset.
-
Ya just found it. I knew about it just forgot! but my current timings are
6-5-5-13. What do i change it to?
FSB to DRAM ratio is 4:5 -
This.
Still not recived my parts. Not using my Acer anymore, system crashed using my HP for now. I also need another new keyboard. I manged to smash it up.
I might install Seven 32-bit and flash my ram sticks and take this therad and 5739G overclocking one step futher. You want me to? -

.If u running the Acers bios it looks like one of youre dimms that u running are not 533mhz capable and thats why it undercklocks,or one of youre dimms have problem and is running in safe mode i guess.
-
Restore your BIOS settings to factory defult. If that does not solve the problem, install ACER orginal BIOS. If that dosn't work either. Try one by one stick.
Let us know.
And CrossfireGTI, is that your golf?
btw guys, looking into this http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...market-upgrades/610628-lcd-upgrade-leave.html -
tried it all. no luck. one stick, two stick, bios back to acers. nothing... stupid ram.
what if i get new ram? what should i get? -
G.SKILL 1333Mhz kit is awesome, but WAIT for me to flash it under Windows 7 to 800 Mhz so I can overclock it to 1066mhz while my CPU is running somewhere above 3.60Ghz.. -
Okay another problem occured, I can put my memory on the top memory slot. If i do that i get bsod after the welcome screen. Donno why? I guess I will buy a 4gb stick 1600mhz Gskill
Also if i stick any memory in there it pops out, the two clip things on the sides cant hold the RAM down. -
Sounds like bad ram to me. But, it can also be because your system is simply runnning out of memory during startup which leads to a bdos. don't buy 1600mhz sticks, that will make overclocking harder, also I don't even know if you can get 1600mhz sticks for laptop.
just hope it is not your mobo. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You can get 1866mhz sticks for laptops.
I use 1600mhz. -
I'm going to install 32 bit OS now to see if I can flash them from there. IF not, I'm going to buy new RAM sticks..
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Depends on the quality of the sticks to be honest.
I can only assume it would be quite happy to go to around 580-600mhz at 6-6-6-21 which it sets itself to at those speeds. -
Intresting, I'm installing 32 bit OS now to try to flash my 1333mhz sticks. But, I was thinking like, I did not have to flash my 1066Mhz Samsung sticks to even get my CPU to somewhere up to 3.40 Ghz, but, with my gskill ram, I can't even overclock with lowered multiplier, it just freezez. So, yeah.

Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Matters not on the binning but the individual chips.
I had old ram (200mhz DDR for my Athlon-XP) turned out to be Winbond BH-5 ram that would work at 2-1-1-5 at 240mhz.
Be aware that hyper-X might be picky unless you loosen the timings a bit. -
Okay, as I said before I bought this laptop, overheating is not an issue for me. Right now, I have modded the whole underpanel (airflow) of my laptop. It took my about 3 hours. I'm running some turture tests now, my Chipset peaks at 87C nad my cores (both) are on 74C. This tempratures are much much better then what I had before. My mod isin't fully done yet, I just had to test if I was in the right direction.
Orthos running small FFT, CPU stress. Have been running for 15 minutes.
My tempratures are still high because I have still not recived my new heatsink, which I think is dead, or dying. Also, I'm going to some few other small mods when I take my laptop apart for the exchange of heatsink. hopefully, that will give me even better results. A big problem now is that my FAN does not go full speed, it kicks up and down the whole time, which doesn't really help to cool my laptop down. -
Im trying to find the power board part on top of the keyboard online without success. I want to change it cause its gotten dirty and I broke the piece of plastic that slides under the left side of the keyboard. So it looks a lottle bad and its gotten pretty dirty. Also the led touch buttons dont work or light up.
So if you find that part online, that would be very much appreciated.
Offtopic: I love my Russian Chemistry teacher named Volodymyr. Kickass name -
My new parts arrived today, I have created a picture hosting account and will upload new pictures and add them to first post. akbisw, this also answers your qestion, but don't forget that the powerbutton itself is not included.
Here is the album for my new parts, from Acerparts/ZandaParts

Actually guys, I have better experience with 1066Mhz modules overclock to 1333Mhz. My 1333mhz modules running at 1066Mhz won't go back to 1333mhz manually, I have tried 2 set of 1333Mhz modules I have, and they don't work with overclock. 1066Mhz modules did. Quite strange, but I'm going to buy 1066mhz modules now and test them out.
-
Thanks Tunay for the part numbers and I will be waiting for the result of ur experiment. Since Im jobless atm I cant go around throwing cash like i used to. Lots of money went into this Acer.
Also my audio out 3.5mm jack in my mobo dont work? Any fix?
Heres the original story. So after using the 3.5mm jack to connect to vintage home theater system, my acer speaker wouldnt work anymore. Problem was there is actually a manually button that toggles the switch between speaker and headphones. So I had to use toothpicks, pins, nails whatever to jam it inside that hole (no jokes pls) and finally flipped that micro switch to the speaker (read this in different forums). But now I damaged the port too bad and it doesnt work anymore. I have been living off of USB soundcards (admittedly all from China) that break in two months to 2 seconds.
Lastly I looked up that a lot of Acers had their audio jack as a separate module that connects to the main board. That just pissed me off. So should I get a high end usb soundcard? Turtle Beach amigo II -
I have no idea about the soundcard, perhaps a mobo replacement?
Also, didin't you have a T9900? I'm going to upload picutres tonight. It is still under testing, I haven't 100% finished as I don't want to spend money on something that isin't going to give me any good results. -
that E8345 was too hot to deal with. Performance dropped in high temps and a lot of the games ran unevenly with that processor.
what I would kill for a quad!! just want BF3 in good frames thats all. -
No, I mean your signature, it says T9600, before that you had T9900? I'm getting confused here.
I want to try another QX9300, but then really, I've have thrown too much money in this laptop... So I don't know, I may just sell it soon, getting bored. -
You still wondring if I have solved my temprature problemes? I'm just leaving this here, random restart and some web surfing, NBR and FaceBook.
Well, I can show you much as this;
I'm currently working on how to draw a bit power from mobo.. In a good way. More pictures and information later, if I ever can get it done.
I would also add the reason why my lowest temprautre is about 25C is because the FAN stops spinning at 25C and does not kick in again untill some 30Cs.. That is cool for me actually, 70% of the time my fan is off, saving me both power and noice. My laptop have been running on battery @ max performance, it has been running for 1 hour now, and my laptop still raports 1 hour and 40 minutes left. -
wow! nice temps. Is that with new heatsink? I recently switched the thermal compound to arctic silver, no change in temps. What a ripoff. Should have gotten IC diamond.
THe E8435 had the same spec as T9900 except it was hotter due to a tdp of 55 watts. and i wanted to OC to so got T9600. they are about the same IMO. X9100 would have been the better choice. -
-
is the clock generator SLG8SP513V? I just got 1333mhz ram, but the stick is still running at 333hz at 6-5-5-12 which is the same as the last ram. something is not right here? something is throttling my RAM. cant find it.
RAM itself has a manufacturer timing of 9-9-9-24
