    Hi,

I'm dealing with the overheating issue and was wondering if someone can tell me what the average load temp is for the GPU and motherboard. From what I've read in this thread, I gather it's fairly high.
    Thanks for any input.

    T6600 2.2GHz 800MHz/ GeForce GT 130M 1GB/ 4GB RAM/ 320GB HDD

Turns out originally after repasting with ceramique 2 my temps were 30-35 idle and 65 load for t6600. but I dont recall GPU. Now with T9600 the load temp is 80C.

Offtopic - I do like Jobs better than anyone else and that will never change. RIP

I feel better with that info :) I'm not running too far off course, 65C-70C and the GPU at about the same temp. Thanks

    RIP Jobs

What akbisw said actually. The thing is that, the fans are controlled by temprature, so, everyone is going to hit somewhere between 65-80C for load tempratures. However, I got my new FAN, I'm waiting for my new underplate, LCD back and RAM sticks. Just have to pay down my credit cards. Poor me, have used so much oney on this laptop.

I read in another forum that if you were running over 55C you were in deep trouble. This didn't sound right to me, if that was the case, the fan would hit top speed at around 70-80C instead of 105C. I guess I just wanted confirmation from people who actualy own this model and know what they're talking about.

If you go to nVidia's site and look up your driver and click on supported products, you'll notice at the bottom it says " 1.Notebooks supporting Hybrid Power technology with Intel chipsets are not supported by this release "

For this reason I have a long outdated driver for my 130M. I don't remember what happened the last time I tried to install a newer version, but I do remember having to roll back to the previous one :(

55 is not that high. over 100C(or near) computer will shut off. Its built in in intel chips. 80C-90C could be normal for quads.

And the gpu I have 6770M is much hotter than 130M. runs 81C on load. BUt I do get more than double the framerates i used to get paired with my T9600.

Trust me I know what I'm talking about. And, I would LOVE to have a discussion about those who said you that 55C were deep trouble.

At 100C, on chipset, our Acers will shut down due to save system from any damage due to heat. Your CPU will never hit 105 if your fan does spin. 95C maybe, but 105C, no. And you're right about the fan speed. The reason why our max tempratures are high 80C is because our fan does not kick into full before about 75-80C. And at 80C it is allready too late to save the extra heat as it take some time before cooling have any effect on the heat/heatsink.

    NemD, what is your tempratures?

I thought the fan reached max at 105C because of the chart on chapter1 page 17 of the service manual, I may be misinterpreting it.

    CPU Temp........rpm
    40...................2800
    50................... 3100
    65...................3400
    85...................4000
    105.................4500

    throttling 50%: on=105C off=95C
    OS shut down: 108C
    H/W shut down: 110C

How hot do you think I can safely let it get to, before I need to save & shut down the program I'm using and let it cool down?

    Thanks for your help :)

    I suggest two things.
    1. bump up the frequency in sapphire Triixx slightly or
    2. increase the voltage slightly

id try 1 first. use ac power

No way that on ACER manual is correct. First, when your CPU is at 105C, your Chipset is most likely about the same, or even hotter as well, which will cause your laptop to shut down. I have been able to get up to 103C with T9600, my Chipset was about somewhere 110C, but this is not my Acer. FYI.

    lol! :D

I want to debrand my laptop actually, shame it is a ACER. I think I'll cover it up with carbonfiber or matt black or something. That would be cool actually. However, first thing should be the BIOS Post.

the MOST MOST MOST funny thing out of this is that I asked for a orginal part reseller, and they linked me to a US site, that even not had my laptop listed :D I said my model were not listed, and they said they could not help me anyfuther and that I had to contact the store (THE SAME AS THEY LINKED IN 1.ST ANSWER)..

So yeah, ASUS is still the best brand with Costmer care.

HP, ACER, TOSHIBA, have all been useless untill now.

Your temperatures are perfectly normal my friend. It is also normal for you to hear your fan spinning. As long as your laptop does not shut down you're good to go actually. I also may get one of that. What is your 3dmark score akbisw?

Nice score indeed although 3Dmark11 would be more relevant.
Your SM2.0 score (meaning DirectX 9 score) is particularly high but those sharers are not in use anymore. On the other hand 3DMark06 is CPU dependent and your CPU certainly isn't helping the score.

Okay guys, a update for you here. After about one or two months without using my 5739G, I today orderd new parts, cables, switches and stuff for about little over 200 USD. I'm however as additional looking for a SSD drive too, and this value does not include a GPU, just to clear that.

I have some to-do-mods in my list, and if it fails, I most likely is going to just trash the laptop :D

However, as I have another main laptop for now, I'm not in hurry, so the mods can take up to 1 month, even more maybe?

I have orderd parts from almost every corner in the world, so it will most likely take 2 or 3 weeks for me to recive all of them.

I'm also making some small changes to 1st post, let me know what you think.

    I'll keep you updated, standby!

Intel PM45 supports even a QX9300. The thing is that there is, what I belive, a BIOS limitation on our models. So, even the chipset supports it, the BIOS does not.

He could be running on another 15,6" Acer laptop..

But then again, I do actually think X9100 will work in 5739G. But, I'm happy with my T9900 at the moment.

I would try it out actually. But you really sure that you need even more then 3.06Ghz?

But make sure you can return and get a full refund or a T9900 if it does not work. I have to get my laptop working again, with parts I orderd yesterday, after that, if I'm bored I may order the X9100 and try it out. But, if you do, you'll be first to ever try it as far as I and this therad knows.
