    Same website as always and it advertises a core 2 duo. Not even close to what I am looking for.

    Core 2 Duo systems should be cheap as Acer tries to unload em. No reason to buy those now.

    There is no 3820 listed on the USA Website.

    3820 isn't one of the choices in the product section.

    Acer is usually later than Lenovo in product delivery. Lenovo is out of stock on the X201s right now and sold its first batch out at the store here.

    Acer core i7's aren't anywhere to be seen yet. Guess they will come in for April/May.

    Just have to wait. Before you know it, core i7 is here from every notebook vendor.

    It's strange how Singapore, targeting a small niche market, gets the timeline series priced yet the US/Canada has nothing yet...

    The battery life of the new Acers should definitely beat the one of the Asus N82!

    It's confirmed that it will only ship with a 6cell battery with 44mAh
    I wonder which imbecile is to blame for to advertise it with a 8cell battery.

    Besides that, the display is rather average (bad for a multimedia notebook).

    I wonder if the Acer will do any better...especially because it is sold at a lower price compared with the N82.

    I have really doubts about that!

    As far as I know the only reason we thought it would be released today was because of some translated Italian computer news site. That's not a reliable source, especially for North American dates. We've heard dates, we've heard later this month, we've heard next week. We've heard it all from many websites across the globe. Unless a reliable source from North America or Acer themselves comes out with news about a specific release date and pricing then I won't hold my breath.

    I think acer is in the process of releasing this information. The Singapore site has exactly the model I want. Glad to see that drivers are going up on the US site. That is also a good sign. Waiting for a retailer to tell me where to send my check and how much Bing cash I'm getting back. :)

    Why do I have a feeling that the LED Display on these models will have very mediocre viewing angles, brightness be glossy as hell...?

    Like every single goddarn notebook right now has a crappy display. what the hell is going?

    The choice of components and the technology used are both made with a view to saving energy and environmental responsibility:
    - the backlit LED panels, combined with Intel Display Power Savings (iDPST), guarantee a 30% reduction in consumption while maintaining the same image quality;
    - a new generation of hard disk ensures low consumption (about 40% less than standard models) and, at the same time, lower operating temperatures and less noise;
    - a revised cooling system uses low-energy fans to reduce battery consumption to a minimum;
    - the new family of Intel® Core™ processors optimizes efficiency automatically by adapting the available power to the workload required.

    I found those technologies interesting.

    I'll likely be forced to buy an anti-glare coating for the screen because I, too, HATE HATE HATE glossy.

    Some people have also said Sony screens are supposed to be better - but I've just tested a few CW screens while I was at Bestbuy, and the contrasts were horrible. Backlight bleeding all over whenever you display black/dark images that fill the screen.

    Best screens I've personally seen were on the 15" MBPs. I sincerely hope I won't be tempted by Apple once they refresh their line, because I bloody can't afford them lol

    EDIT: I've just checked reviews for the old 13 and 14" Timelines and most of them complimented on the Acer display. I really hope they've kept similar display quality for the update....

    Well if you've been following the conversation, it's because you CANNOT find matte displays on notebooks anymore. Especially for light notebooks with decent specs. Hey if you find one let us know :)

    Yea.. that 9-cell design is really weird. :eek:
    Folks don't need the keyboard to be angled up like that.

    And from this photo, seems like the x 4820T is much thicker than the original 4820.

    The 4820 is thicker than the 4810 due to the cpu's TDP being increased by 25W and the graphics needing 2 cooling fans. And the 9 cell reminds me of some netbook batteries, like the previous gen Dell Mini 10's 6 cell stuck up like that.

    You're gonna have to put out alot more $ for better cpu and gpu. The new Sony Vaio Z has a better gpu with core i5/i7 processors but you're going to pay double the amount. You're lucky to get 4 full hours from the new Z while the Asus can get up 8 hrs.

    Don't think these pictures are of the same TimelineX that was on the Acer US website (specs) and the Russian video in the first post.

    These seem to have a DVD drive and 1 vent. Probably 4745 in euro market?

    Google Cache has the 1830T listed. Currently if you go to the page, its all blank, Acer must have taken it down.

    In the "specifications" page, a Core 2 Solo and GS45 are listed (from the initial 1410 models, must be a typo), but in the "benefits" page, it describes it as having a next-gen Core i5 processor and new Intel HD graphics.

    http://74.125.95.132/search?q=cache...395721034+acer+1830T&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

    EDIT:

    TimelineX 5820T. This seems to have the specs correct.
