Yes. The 1410/1810's are also the only previous Timeline's in which you also had a choice of color.

I think the colors (highlighted in bold) are the 1830T only. I just noticed the 2 year, 1 year international warranty. Does this apply to all?
BTW, by way of further comparisin. A new review of the US version of the Asus N82 (I7-620M/GT335M) benchmarks it in 3dMark06 at 6892 Marks.

But you should keep in mind -> this Benchmark has been made at 1280x1024.
-
My appologies. I see the N82Jv with the faster clocked 620M didn't run it better either.
-
So anyone found a seller that ships to Europe with an English US or UK keyboard?
-
second, but for the US not Europe
-
How much did you end up paying for this laptop?
-
I'm sad to see the 3820tg with 9-cell battery stands so far down under the machine. Maybe as much as a few cm. Look at the fourth picture:
http://www.netonnet.no/art/data/laptop/laptop-13---14-tom/acer-as3820tg-434g64n/013657.5055/
Was close to order this. Guess I'll wait for an option with 6-cell battery. Or perhaps bay a 6 cell battery extra. Probably not. Lets see how things develop=)
-Bergs -
Thats all great news. Especially about temps.
I have 1500£ budget and need something that I could transport 200 miles by train every weekend from York UK where I work and live to London where I study part-time and where my folks live.
Initially I was going to buy some decent gaming laptop like G73 or Clevo 870w. But now seing how TimelineX gets better and better reviews, I might as well spend 800£ and get it and for the rest 700£ buy a desktop with i5 overclocked to 4Ghz and ati 5770 (also OC). It will save me dragging 5-6 kg and I'll still be able to play same games but on lower settings and run some CAD.
Awesome. -
No way I'm getting a 9 cell, better off with two 6 cells if really necessary.
That's probably the better way to spend Your 1500 GBP, and yes, the price is good, the 430M+HD5650 cost 760-770 GBP (dependong on the conversion rate) here.
The custom desktop equiped with i5 and HD5770 would cost more than 700 GBP IMO. -
is the 8 hours with the 6 cell or the 9 cell? cause if i can still get 4-5 out of the 6 cell, ill be fine with that. maybe get a 9 cell too cause it props it up and provides better air flow. i think id get the 6 cell to start tho.
-
The testing showing 8 hour battery life was done with the 6 cell. The 9 cell is Butt Ugly.

Anyone notice the large amount of ACER ads? or is it just in Vancouver? It might be left over from the Olympics so I guess they're still focusing on the 3810T here? =(
-
is it for certain that the 3820's 9 cell battery sticks out like that? What about the 4820 or 5820?
-
my god guys! If Berg's posted site picture is real (only one does show the eventual larger battery) is a no go, i think for anyone in his right state of mind. It seems to me it can't be that ugly, why would they make it that purpousely bad, rather than a normal one?
Has anyone found any part number of the i5 520 or 540 or i7 yet? I remember the singapore student offer didn't have any indication. I am wondering where those models are going to be sold first.
As far as I am concerned, in Italy we're only getting the hd 5470, because we are a third world country. I guess I'll have to buy keyboard stickers! Damn! -
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
See old post. Dell Inspiron Mini 10 (first gen) 6 cell sticks up like that. -
I was told that the vaio Z ( the new one) 's bigger sized battery also sticks out like this compared to it's standard battery
-
You're right about better air flow, however, since the 3820 has two separate heat sinks with two vents, we may hope for a proper cooling design, plus above our hopes I believe the GPU's temp was reported 65 celsius under stress, so it's cooling should be OK I guess.

4820TG Unboxing from Taiwan. Lots more on the forum.
-
I'm a little shocked at the negative response towards the bigger battery... a lot of laptops and companies are doing this! Acer isn't doing something out of the norm. I prefer that battery over the other variation because it does allow for more airflow and better ergonomics.
The only negative I see is storage/transport goes out the window with the way the battery is shaped. Going to be hard to carry around the 3820 with the 9cell in any type of slim case. -
Well, at least to me the whole point of a thin and light is portability. If it's not gonna fit a briefcase or a bag in a decent way, then you'll have to keep it on your desk. Hence, I'd buy a 5 kgs. 17" with plenty of cooling...
-
I believe the right term for something that stays on your desk is "desktop".
-
i agree. many companies are doing this now. its just an option guys. some people use their netbooks/laptops on their desk all the time, like in class or at the office, so the 9 cell placed like that is probably going to appeal to more people, also the 9 cell placed like that is probably due to the cooling. unlike the envy from hp (which does over heat), a better placed battery to stay thin and short would cause problems

Bronsky does the keyboard and screen deficiencies bother you at all?
-
The screen quality issue is related to viewing angles. That is fine with me. Keeps people from looking over my shoulder on airplanes.
Really, it is not a big deal with me. Plus, I love the display on my 1410T. I would think that the 3820TG is similar.
The keyboard is my biggest complaint with my 1410T. I would really prefer a better one, but there is simply noting out there close to the 3820TG IMO in its price range. It's either this or the Sony Z. I have been adapting to the 1410 keyboard. It is an imperfect world. I have been looking for a new notebook since December.
I have some projects coming up this summer that will force a decision as I simply can't do them on my 1410T. At that point, its either the 3820TG or the Sony Z. I could live with either decision but think I would prefer the 3820TG, warts and all.

So I just randomly opened the latest issue of Wired mag to look for subscription cards to tear out, and what do I see, a 4 page ad for the TimelineX's. It says "coming soon"...
-
Besides viewing angles, is the screen good? How do the colors look? Is the contrast good?
Sorry for all the questions, lol. -
How do I get an application for admission?

Wow, 60-65C load for the 5650? That's pretty good. My tx2000z which died and is the reason I'm in the market for a new laptop would idle at around that much with the crappy integrated geforce 6150. I'd like to see some stress tests, like maybe 4-5 hours of gaming/benchmarks on the GPU, but that is pretty reassuring. I'm wary of buying another laptop with defective GPU and having problems 2 years down the line, but 65C is relatively cool for something that fast.
Also, I figure I'd probably get the i5 instead of the i7 which should lead to slightly lower temps too. -
Lol...that's the first thing I do too.
Seen that and it's a good sign but "coming soon" means in reality it could be tommorow or 4-5 months from now.
But this has me hoping it's relatively soon. -
Another possible reason might be the Win7 32bit OS that came with my 3820TG. Of the 4GB RAM installed, only 2.3GB is usable.... ATI HyperMemory seems to be eating a big chunk of it.
-
The Acer 1830T is listed on the Acer website under the Europe geographic location. That is the first time I have seen it listed officially by Acer. No details unfortunately.
Acer Europe 1830T
Apologies if this has been spotted before but does this mean that it is imminent............ -
Turn out to be bad news..
4820TG in Malaysia comes with HD5470 instead of HD5650
-
At this address [take off the spaces] there's a guy who sells the 4820 with i7 on ebay and says "local pickup only" which means that you can probably send him a message and go there, maybe it's a shop... maybe you can buy a few for the forum!

Good point, I have no clue why Acer had a 32 bit OS preinstalled on a 4 GB system.

Another benchmark - StreetFighter IV (Max settings, no AA)
SCORE: 8972
AVERAGE: 62.14FPS

I sent him a message thanks!
from what people are saying they are unavailable to the general public for now.
-
Lol Acer...32bit System with 4gb ....
But anyways, does anyone know when the new Travelmates are gonna come out? -
Howitzer225 Death Company Dreadnought
I do think that it's the limitations of the OS and not the ATI card of the RAM being partially utilized. Hypermemory kicks in when you have used up all the available RAM in the GPU, and so grabs some from the system memory. -
I have a copy of the Acer recovery disks, both 32 and 64 bit, for Windows 7 Home Premium. If the 3829TG comes with 32 bit, I should be able to install 64 bit under the same license. These recovery disks will do it, right? Then I should just have to reload the drivers for the 3820TG.
Can the recovery disks be unpacked to do a clean install? I don't want to use the registry hack method. I want to clean install Windows 7 - 64 bit from the CD's and have it authenticate online.
Anybody?
Since I'm probably upping the Ram and adding an SSD right away, I'm not worried about insufficient memory.
@Arclord - those temps look great. This could be an Oc'ers dream.

It's Taiwan, not China. Just so you know.
-
In comparison to the 78 degrees in the 4820TG's SF4 benchmarking here, 66 degrees in the 3820TG is a lot better.
Seems like the dual-heatsink/fan/vent setup is doing wonders for the 3820TG.
