Yes. The 1410/1810's are also the only previous Timeline's in which you also had a choice of color.

So anyone found a seller that ships to Europe with an English US or UK keyboard?

I'm sad to see the 3820tg with 9-cell battery stands so far down under the machine. Maybe as much as a few cm. Look at the fourth picture:
http://www.netonnet.no/art/data/laptop/laptop-13---14-tom/acer-as3820tg-434g64n/013657.5055/
Was close to order this. Guess I'll wait for an option with 6-cell battery. Or perhaps bay a 6 cell battery extra. Probably not. Lets see how things develop=)

Thats all great news. Especially about temps.
I have 1500£ budget and need something that I could transport 200 miles by train every weekend from York UK where I work and live to London where I study part-time and where my folks live.
Initially I was going to buy some decent gaming laptop like G73 or Clevo 870w. But now seing how TimelineX gets better and better reviews, I might as well spend 800£ and get it and for the rest 700£ buy a desktop with i5 overclocked to 4Ghz and ati 5770 (also OC). It will save me dragging 5-6 kg and I'll still be able to play same games but on lower settings and run some CAD.
Awesome. -
The custom desktop equiped with i5 and HD5770 would cost more than 700 GBP IMO. -

Anyone notice the large amount of ACER ads? or is it just in Vancouver? It might be left over from the Olympics so I guess they're still focusing on the 3810T here? =(
-
is it for certain that the 3820's 9 cell battery sticks out like that? What about the 4820 or 5820?
-
my god guys! If Berg's posted site picture is real (only one does show the eventual larger battery) is a no go, i think for anyone in his right state of mind. It seems to me it can't be that ugly, why would they make it that purpousely bad, rather than a normal one?
Has anyone found any part number of the i5 520 or 540 or i7 yet? I remember the singapore student offer didn't have any indication. I am wondering where those models are going to be sold first.
As far as I am concerned, in Italy we're only getting the hd 5470, because we are a third world country. I guess I'll have to buy keyboard stickers! Damn! -

I was told that the vaio Z ( the new one) 's bigger sized battery also sticks out like this compared to it's standard battery

4820TG Unboxing from Taiwan. Lots more on the forum.

I'm a little shocked at the negative response towards the bigger battery... a lot of laptops and companies are doing this! Acer isn't doing something out of the norm. I prefer that battery over the other variation because it does allow for more airflow and better ergonomics.
The only negative I see is storage/transport goes out the window with the way the battery is shaped. Going to be hard to carry around the 3820 with the 9cell in any type of slim case. -
Well, at least to me the whole point of a thin and light is portability. If it's not gonna fit a briefcase or a bag in a decent way, then you'll have to keep it on your desk. Hence, I'd buy a 5 kgs. 17" with plenty of cooling...
-
I believe the right term for something that stays on your desk is "desktop".

Bronsky does the keyboard and screen deficiencies bother you at all?
-
Really, it is not a big deal with me. Plus, I love the display on my 1410T. I would think that the 3820TG is similar.
The keyboard is my biggest complaint with my 1410T. I would really prefer a better one, but there is simply noting out there close to the 3820TG IMO in its price range. It's either this or the Sony Z. I have been adapting to the 1410 keyboard. It is an imperfect world. I have been looking for a new notebook since December.I have some projects coming up this summer that will force a decision as I simply can't do them on my 1410T. At that point, its either the 3820TG or the Sony Z. I could live with either decision but think I would prefer the 3820TG, warts and all.

As long as there is no keyboard flex, i'll be fine

So I just randomly opened the latest issue of Wired mag to look for subscription cards to tear out, and what do I see, a 4 page ad for the TimelineX's. It says "coming soon"...
-
Besides viewing angles, is the screen good? How do the colors look? Is the contrast good?
Sorry for all the questions, lol. -

Wow, 60-65C load for the 5650? That's pretty good. My tx2000z which died and is the reason I'm in the market for a new laptop would idle at around that much with the crappy integrated geforce 6150. I'd like to see some stress tests, like maybe 4-5 hours of gaming/benchmarks on the GPU, but that is pretty reassuring. I'm wary of buying another laptop with defective GPU and having problems 2 years down the line, but 65C is relatively cool for something that fast.
Also, I figure I'd probably get the i5 instead of the i7 which should lead to slightly lower temps too. -
Seen that and it's a good sign but "coming soon" means in reality it could be tommorow or 4-5 months from now.
But this has me hoping it's relatively soon. -

The Acer 1830T is listed on the Acer website under the Europe geographic location. That is the first time I have seen it listed officially by Acer. No details unfortunately.

Apologies if this has been spotted before but does this mean that it is imminent............ -

Can the recovery disks be unpacked to do a clean install? I don't want to use the registry hack method. I want to clean install Windows 7 - 64 bit from the CD's and have it authenticate online.
Anybody?
Since I'm probably upping the Ram and adding an SSD right away, I'm not worried about insufficient memory.
@Arclord - those temps look great. This could be an Oc'ers dream.

In comparison to the 78 degrees in the 4820TG's SF4 benchmarking here, 66 degrees in the 3820TG is a lot better.
Seems like the dual-heatsink/fan/vent setup is doing wonders for the 3820TG.
